Earlier today my mom asked me which #Inktober drawing was the hardest to do so far. Before today's drawing I would've said day 18 because I was so sleepy, or days 14 & 15 because I had to keep the momentum going past the halfway mark. Today's drawing is actually the hardest. Not because it was particularly hard to draw (I actually like how it came out), but because I decided to be vulnerable on the Internet 😨😎 and share some inner thoughts/reflections #SoDramatic. This is the first post where I'm doubting whether I should even post it because it's me acknowledging a mistake and being public some what about some of my inner flaws. Not the drawing ones (see day 6) I'll eventually get better at those 💁‍♀️🙃, but the inner fears relating to animation. Studying animation at AFDA was traumatizing and heartbreaking. My flesh wants to blame the institution forever, but my spirit knows better and because I'm a child of God I don't walk by the flesh, but by the Spirit. Plus I already forgave the AFDA people they didn't know they were traumatizing me, shem 🤣🤷🏾‍♀️. I've hesitated a lot this year in doing animation for myself because I was afraid I would take too long (whatever the means). Setting deadlines for myself for personal projects was just too stressful and scary. My mom reminded me this evening that Animation is a team effort. It naturally takes a lot of man hours to bring it into fruition, so maybe I should spend some time overseas at a larger studio, with a team of people just so that I can learn some things I didn't get to learn in university. Not about background design, storytelling or animating animals etc... although I will learn those things, but maybe I should go to a big studio just so that I can learn how to to do an animation project within a given time frame properly - be it a 2 day or 2 year time frame. ALSO my light blue copic started running out today.
