opla s1 rewatch notes now that i've read the manga: 1x03

Luffy: "Zoro! Zoro, check it out!". Zoro, deadpan: "That's unique." Never will not be funny to me. Same with the busted toilet thing because mentally I'm twelve, I guess. Zoro WHY did you think it was the toilet. Do I want to know why you thought it was the toilet.

This is my favourite of Nami's looks in s1. It's very simple but it suits her so well. And she looks so cute in glasses... and probably ruined her eyesight drawing maps for Arlong in that awful room :(

Zoro thinks they should've taken Buggy's head with them. Dude, you're not gonna believe what's going to happen in like three episodes

Luffy seeing the Going Merry for the first time and assuming she can talk makes me emotional, especially in light of [spoiler] 😥

USOPP. I'll be ranting in the review for the next episode but for now I'm just gonna be happy. God tier casting (God Usopp tier casting). After watching the show for the first time, I thought a bit about the East Blue Five and decided that he's my favourite Strawhat. 1151 manga chapters later, he's still my favourite Strawhat.

It's a bit of a pity Jango didn't make it to the live action, but there'd hardly be something to do for him. Two henchmen are more than enough for this kind of scaled-down, chamber battle with Kuro. Well, his and Fullbody's story of finding love on the dancefloor like in a 00s pop song is gonna be a fun little surprise for those going into the source material after watching the show (it certainly was for me). Funky Bar got a shotout though! Kuro looked so offended that I have no other option than to conclude that Zoro was essentially asking "have we ever hooked up at the club by any chance"

Nami and Kaya's shared scenes do have a tint of "whoops, we still haven't passed the Bechdel Test, gotta do something about it", but overall they're really nice and provide an early introduction of the pattern of Nami having a Special Connection with another female character during almost every arc. Hehe.

Today went surprisingly well. Started the day by reading Hegel and later in the day went to explore an abandoned building and around the neighborhood.

After getting home I got back to Hegel and actually finished reading it!! Hooray! Tomorrow and on Monday I will just have to edit the presentation itself. Later I read some Wolfgang Welsch's book on architecture and chapter for philosophy of history. Sadly I didn't get time to read Merleau-Ponty which might make it a tough day tomorrow.

My boyfriend and I then watch 1x03 episode of "Twin Peaks" and I finished the day reading some London travel guides I took from library for our holiday the upcoming January ;)

The story of Belgravia continues in Belgravia: The Next Chapter. The sequel series, which debuted on January 14 on MGM+, is set 30 years after the events of the original limited series created by Julian Fellowes, and it stars Benjamin Wainwright as the grown Frederick Trenchard, Harriet Slater as Clara Dunn, Toby Regbo as Reverend James Trenchard (Frederick’s younger brother), and Hannah Onslow as Emily Dunn, Harriet’s sister.

The Reverend pays a visit to the Dunn household in the TV Insider exclusive clip from Belgravia: The Next Chapter Episode 3, coming out on Sunday, January 28 at 9/8c on MGM+. In it, the grieving widow Mrs. Dunn (Sophie Thompson) takes a special interest in who James will marry, embarrassing her daughter in front of her crush. But here’s the kicker: Emily doesn’t trust her sister, Clara’s, relationship with Frederick Trenchard, but she has no idea that James is Frederick’s brother.

“I must say, Reverend, your name is mentioned on almost a daily basis,” Mrs. Dunn says in the clip. The embarrassed Emily replies, “Mother exaggerates,” to which James responds: “Well, I’m glad to hear I’ve achieved a degree of notoriety.”

The Reverend called upon the family to express his hopes that Mrs. Dunn would come to church soon. The charming and quirky Mrs. Dunn then opens up about the struggles she is experiencing after a move before furthering Emily’s embarrassment by prying about James’ romantic life.

“Oh, I should have thought you would be” [married], she says. “You are extremely handsome!” Emily’s attempts to stop the line of questioning fail. James dodges the question and says, “I’m so absorbed in my ministry, and my parish ladies couldn’t be more helpful.”

Despite Mrs. Dunn’s undesirable methods, it seems she and her daughter both want the same outcome: for Emily to wind up with the reverend! But does James reciprocate the feelings? What will happen when she learns of James’ family ties? Find out as Belgravia: The Next Chapter unfolds.
