kinda bitter sweet how hopeful Vaggie was about the whole "Charlie maybe you should call your dad" thing
She was all smiles and worry during the call- Vaggie! Usually the first one to point out realistic flaws in any hopeful plan!- and then she was friendly when actually meeting him, smiling again as Charlie pitched the hotel and asked for his help...
(Vaggie doesn't smile just for anyone. it's either bc she's happy, or she's looking at Charlie)
...he, Lucifer, is the only other angel in hell she knows of. But he didn't get there the same way she did. Did she not think about that?
or maybe the whole 'helped raise the woman she loves and being emotionally distant from him hurt Charlie, meaning they DID have something good before that' just meant so much to Vaggie
she really... wanted to trust Lucifer with Charlie's happiness, didn't she. And she WAS right about that in the end, but, I dunno. The moment when she turns away so her good eye isn't facing him, smile gone, as he rejects Charlie's dream for the hotel at first... it hurts
so good though, seeing him pull through for Charlie in the end with her there to watch. It's family vibes, yeah? Them BOTH helping Charlie back up after the hotel battle
and that's good for CHARLIE obviously! She really NEEDED that, the woman who's supported her for years (helped her get this far) AND the dad she's finally inspired to hope again (sees how far she's gotten and thinks it's worth it)
it's good for Vaggie too, maybe. She was right. Lucifer wasn't threat she needed to guard against
(not like Adam and Lute-)
and there's a difference between being imprisoned in hell and preferring it to heaven. There's a difference between sharing something you don't think will cause any harm, and choosing to do what people tell you is wrong knowing they'll hurt you for it
he's not the same kind of 'fallen' angel that she is
but even if he was an angel first, it's not the most important thing about him anymore. Now he's Charlie's dad. He loves her. Vaggie knows the feeling. maybe that's why she trusted him

OKAY!!!!!!! TEENAGE CHARLIE (Going by Charlotte at this point still)
FEATURING A MORNINGSTAR FAMILY PORTRAIT‼️‼️‼️‼️
So I know everyone and their mother thinks Charlie being an emo teenager is HILARIOUS (just me? Ok) BUT I think, at least in this sorta rewrite/reimagining, it can be tweaked.
From what we've seen from the little of Charlie's backstory, she's never been.... BAD. Like, I understand she's not a bad person but what made her believe that people could change???? What was her reason for thinking that???
And what better proof could she have than herself!!??
(and ofc maybe the show DOES have an explanation as to why she thinks the way she does but I think the best reason for her to believe that people, more specially SINNERS, could change is if she HERSELF had changed!!)
More explanation on teenage Charlotte and some other stuff under the cut in case you don't wanna hear my rambling hahaha
So what I imagine is that Charlie didn't start going by Charlie until AFTER she decided to make a change for herself.
So Charlotte Morningstar is the only child of the Devil, Lucifer and the first woman, Lilith, as well as the sole heir to the throne of Hell.
And she was a total sleazebag.
She did all kinds of drugs and partook in all of the Hellish virtues that eternal donation had to offer, that also includes the infamous hunting trips that she and Lucifer would go on together (as mentioned in this post)
She was aggressive, violent and unfaithful. I imagine that Charlotte was a total shit ass kid who got into trouble all the time (which was basically encouraged by Lucifer and so long as she did what Lilith told her when it came to meeting advisors and ruling, Lilith didn't care how she was either)
Charlotte still dated Seviathan like in canon. I wanted to lean into the Eldritch part of his name but something that isn't too complicated LOL, so I made him have a whole bunch of mouths all over him (his right eyes, his ears, and there's a LOAD more that are just usually covered up by his clothes). He's like a mouth themed vampire-demon thing to me <3
He's pretty arrogant and mean, a huge jerk like Charlotte, that's why they were together. They were both really similar at the time and just enabled each other's bad and violent behaviors.
Then eventually Charlotte realized that hurting people and being super evil was NOT GOOD and began to change. (This change is noticed in her physical appearance (no longer showing her horns) and starting to go by Charlie :)
This caused a LOT of rifts and tension between her, her parents and peers tbh (this was expanded on in this post)
And have a little bonus for humoring me with my insanity.
I think once it's revealed that Vaggie was an exorcist angel, Charlie's gonna fucking FLIP (obviously). Her biggest reason is still how it was in canon, how Vaggie had lied to her and kept the whole thing a secret BUT!!!!!
She's also gonna feel conflicted BECAUSE she ALSO did bad in her past and she doesn't wanna look like a hypocrite if she's crucifying Vaggie for doing the same! But she's mad! But she also did bad!!! She's just gonna be super mixed up and conflicted and confused LOL

A fun spin on the whole Vaggie and Emily as exes thing I've seen you discuss on this blog: Vaggie and Emily dating, but when Vaggie was left behind in Hell Emily chose to leave Heaven to find her and ended up staying with her and Charlie.
Emily waits with St. Peter at the pearly gates for the Exterminators to return. She always waits for the Exterminators to return every year. She knows it's probably silly, but she can't help but worry anyway. When Lute appears, followed by the rest of Adam's army, Vaggie isn't with them. For the first time in her existence, Emily panics.
"Where is she? Where is Vaggie?" Emily shouts, at first stunned by the lack of a response from Lute, then grabbing the lieutenant by her shirt, demanding again to know where Vaggie is.
"That traitor deserted us," Lute replied. She's lying. Emily knows she's lying. She can't get any further information out of Lute. Adam's second in command refuses to say more, and shuts her mouth up tight.
Emily has never left Heaven before. Never even dreamed of it, but after Lute's dismissal of Vaggie's whereabouts, Emily opens a portal, and enters into the belly of the beast, as it were, searching desperately for her partner.
She searches Hell for what seems like forever, but is probably only the better part of a day. When she finds the trail of golden blood, followed by the halo and blood-smeared clothing stuffed haphazardly in a dumpster, she knows she's close. With this lead, she can better pinpoint Vaggie's location.
She finds her several blocks away, where Emily can feel her presence inside...a hotel? The building is run down. It looks completely deserted. Even so, this is the only lead she has. She knows Vaggie is nearby. She knocks on the door, and is greeted by none other than...the princess of hell?? Can this day get any weirder?
Vaggie is inside. Emily rushes to her, hugging her and crying, and apologizing when Vaggie winces at Emily putting pressure on her back. Emily's hands come away with...blood. Golden blood. Then she notices...where are Vaggie's wings? Her eye? They're missing? Where have they gone?
Vaggie tells her the story. The entire story, from the moment she tried to help save a child, to the wretched act of violence Lute enacted on her as punishment. Emily listens, and cries, and hugs Vaggie more. Her partner is so traumatized.
Charlie Morningstar, the princess -- the one who'd found Vaggie, rescued her, and bandaged her up -- is also taking all of this in. Vaggie had hidden the fact that she's an angel from her...Charlie says she understands. She can't believe Heaven would do something like this. She rushes off to call her father...he needs to know what Heaven's done.
"We need to get you back to Heaven," Emily says, holding Vaggie's hand in hers, and stroking her cheek lightly.
"I can't go back," Vaggie says, wincing around the pain in her back and face. She looks so tired. "I can't. They'll kill me. But you should go. You don't need to be here."
"I'm not leaving without you!" Emily says. "I'm staying!"
"Emily..."
"No! I've made up my mind! I'm not leaving you!"
So Emily stays. If she can't take Vaggie with her, then she decides right then and there, Heaven will just have to do without her. She doesn't want to exist in a realm that doesn't have Vaggie in it. Charlie tells them both they can stay as long as they want. They decide to take the princess up on her offer, and vow to pay her back any way they can.
