Can you do a Bayverse turtle tots story where they meet reader on Halloween, and the reader thinks they're wearing costumes, but when they find out they're ACTUALLY mutants, they think they're cool and still want to be friends with them.
A/N: Hey, anon—this is such a cute request! I assumed the reader is also a kid, so that’s how I wrote it 💖 I also have the boys already starting to wear their signature colors; I hope that's okay!
The Best Secret You’ll Ever Keep (fluff)

CWs: None.
Tumblr media
The autumn air nips at your cheeks.
Leaves crunch satisfyingly under your feet as you walk down the street. Gap-toothed jack-o’-lanterns grin from porches draped in fake cobwebs and dangling plastic spiders. Fake witches and bats hang on doorways. Your bucket bumps against your leg, already heavy from a successful candy haul.
Dressed as your favorite character, you scan the sidewalk ahead, looking for the next decorated house with the lights on. Suddenly, a flash of movement catches your eye, followed by a muffled giggle and a thump. Curiosity leads you to a narrow, shadowed slit of an alley between two darkened houses.
Peeking around the corner, you freeze, jaw dropping.
Four figures huddle there, decked out in the most incredible turtle costumes you’ve ever laid eyes on. The detail is amazing: green skin that looks almost real, bulky shells on their backs, and colored masks tied to their heads. They even have realistic-looking toy weapons strapped to them.
“Whoa,” you exhale, stepping fully into the alley entrance, unable to contain your admiration. “Your costumes are insane! They look totally real!”
Startled, the four of them jump before spinning around to face you.
The one in the orange mask recovers first, breaking into a wide, toothy grin. “Thanks! Yours is pretty cool, too!” He gestures enthusiastically with a three-fingered hand towards your getup, then proudly holds up his own candy-filled pumpkin bucket, nearly identical to yours.
Purple Mask adjusts the pair of goggle-looking things perched on his forehead. “The material composition is top-notch! We used, um, special polymers for the skin texture. And the shell articulation is designed for maximum mobility.” He wiggles his shoulders, and the shell on his back shifts convincingly.
The one in the red mask, his own tied a little crooked and a pair of very realistic-looking toy sai tucked into his belt, scoffs. “Yeah, yeah, lay off the big words. They’re just gonna stand there gawkin’ all night and blow our cover!” He glares at you, clutching his own candy bucket. “What, never seen awesome costumes before?”
Blue Mask nudges him. “Hey, be nice. They’re just curious.” He offers you a small, reassuring smile, though his eyes are watchful. “They are pretty impressive, right? We take Halloween very seriously. What are you supposed to be?” He tilts his head, trying to get a better look at your costume.
You tell them which character you are and what they’re from. “My costume’s okay, but yours are on a whole other level! Especially the hands! How’d you even do the three fingers? Are they, like, super advanced gloves?” You inch a little closer, your gaze fixed on Orange Mask’s hand gripping his bucket. “And those weapons! They don’t look like cheap plastic. Are they real metal?”
“The hands are like, super-duper special effects. Top secret Hollywood stuff!” he answers, wiggling his three-fingered hand, the green skin flexing in a way that makes your brain hurt trying to figure it out. “And these?” He flourishes his nunchaku; it looks like it could actually do some damage. He does a fancy twirl, and the weapon thwacks against his leg. “Oof! Totally, uh, made of foam. Super safe!” Though he grins, he quickly rubs his thigh.
“Wow! Hollywood stuff?” Your eyes are wide with amazement. You’ve never seen anything like it. “Can I touch one of your shells? They look so hard and bumpy, not like those cheap plastic ones from the store.” You look expectantly at Blue Mask, who seems like the one in charge.
He looks at Purple, hesitating for a moment. “Uh, well, they’re kinda delicate.”
“Well, delicate may be underselling it,” Purple says. “The carapace is actually a fusion of bone plates connected to the skeleton, overlaid with keratinized scutes. It can withstand blunt force, though concentrated impacts could cause a fracture. Especially considering the unique accelerated growth patterns induced by our mutagenic …”
He stops abruptly. The alley seems to fall utterly silent, save for the distant sounds of other trick-or-treaters. Red facepalms with a groan. Orange winces, looking between Purple and you. Blue sighs.
“Nice goin’, doofus.” Red shoves Purple lightly. “Way to spill the beans.”
You stare, processing Purple’s rapid-fire explanation. Carapace? Keratinized? Mutagenic? These aren’t words used to describe costumes, even really good ones. Your eyes flick between the four of them, noticing the way their skin subtly shifts as they breathe, the glint in their eyes that seems too real, the impossibility of faking this level of detail.
Blue steps forward, placing a hand on Purple’s shoulder before looking directly at you. His expression is serious but not entirely unkind. “Okay, look,” he says, his voice low. “He got a little carried away. Truth is, these aren’t costumes.”
Red huffs, crossing his arms. “Yeah, what he said. We’re … different.”
Purple nods, while Orange just gives a slightly sheepish, hopeful grin.
A slow smile spreads across your face, wider and wider until it feels like it might split your cheeks. “Wait,” you breathe, eyes wide with wonder, not fear. “You mean—you’re real? Like, actually real mutant turtles?!”
The four of them tense, clearly bracing for screaming, running. Or maybe even fainting.
Instead, you bounce on the balls of your feet, nearly vibrating with excitement. “NO WAY! That is SO COOL! SO MUCH COOLER THAN COSTUMES!” You gesture wildly. “You’re like real-life comic book characters! Actual mutants! This is AMAZING!”
Orange’s nervous grin transforms into a beam of pure delight. “We’re ninjas, too.”
Questions pour out of you in an excited torrent. “Are those weapons real? Do you have a secret hideout? Who mutated you? Do you actually do ninjutsu? Can you climb walls?”
Blue holds up his hand. “Whoa, hey, slow down. One question at a time. Yes, we train in ninjutsu. Our weapons are training versions, mostly. And the rest, well, it’s a long story.”
“Yeah,” Red adds, though his tone is less aggressive now. “People don’t usually think we’re ‘cool’.” He still sounds slightly suspicious of the word.
“Well, I do,” you declare with absolute certainty, meeting each of their gazes. “This officially makes this the best Halloween in the history of Halloweens.” You hold out your candy bucket. “Want some candy? I scored a king-sized peanut butter cup back there, and I totally got three packs of those sour gummy worms.”
Orange’s eyes light up. “Awesome!” He eagerly trades you a handful of his own candy for a chocolate bar.
Purple politely accepts a small lollipop, Red grudgingly takes a piece of taffy, and Blue accepts a small pack of gummies with a grateful nod. Then you spend a few more minutes chatting in the alley’s shadows, learning their names. Although hesitant to share many details, their excitement about finding someone who isn’t afraid of them is obvious.
After a while, Leo straightens up. “Sorry. We should probably go soon—before Dad realizes we’re gone.”
“Awwww, already?” Mikey whines, stuffing a piece of candy into his mouth.
“Can I see you guys again?” you ask quickly, the words tumbling out in a rush of hope. “Please?”
Leo exchanges a look with his brothers. Raph gives a slight, almost imperceptible nod, as well as Donnie. Mikey gives you an eager thumbs-up. Leo then looks back at you. “Maybe. But it has to be a secret. A total secret. You can’t tell anyone about us. Not your parents, not your friends, nobody. Can you promise?”
“Cross my heart and hope to die,” you say, drawing an ‘X’ over your chest. “Are we … friends now?”
Mikey doesn’t hesitate, lunging forward to give you an enthusiastic hug. “Totally!”
“Gotta go!” Raph urges, already backing further into the alley.
“Farewell for now,” Leo says with a final nod.
“Indeed, until our next encounter,” Donnie adds.
After your quick goodbyes, they melt back into the deeper shadows of the alley, disappearing. You stand there for a moment. Tonight, you met real-life heroes, stranger and more wonderful than anything in comic books and movies. They think you’re okay.
And they want to be your friend!
You clutch your bucket handle tighter, a huge grin plastered on your face, and head back towards the street, wondering when—and where—you’ll meet your new, secret, totally awesome ninja turtle friends again.

Joy, but Genie (AKA: She's Joy!)
You whistle a tune as you set down your bag. You’d gone out to pick something up at the sex shop down the block from your house, and the pink-haired, tattooed girl behind the counter declared you their hundred thousandth customer. She gave you fifty percent off the lube and a five-by-five-by-five box containing a mystery gift. That was pretty cool.
Popping open the box, you discover it’s a polished, stainless steel butt plug, bigger around than you can imagine would be comfortable for someone with less than a moderate amount of experience, and with a strangely small flared base. Said base doesn’t have one of those fake plastic gems in it, but it does have an overall, mysterious green sheen to it. Curiosity gets the better of you and you lick it to see if it’s flavored or something.
It’s not flavored. Oh well. You set the plug down on your table, pointed up, and think about what you want for lunch.
Suddenly, a pale green smoke starts to rise from the butt plug. Your momentary panic stops you from throwing it back in the box, which seems to be a mistake because the smoke begins to billow out faster and faster. You have half a mind to slap the thing out your window before it explodes, but you don’t get the chance.
The green smoke gathers inward on itself, closer and closer until it’s roughly the size of a person and impossible to see through. The composite wood of your cheap table groans as if someone is sitting on it (something the IKEA employee told you not to do).
And then, as quickly as it arose, the smoke dissipates. In the space where it was, a woman sits. She’s wearing some kind of archaic green veil-bikini and loincloth, and is decked out in golden rings on her fingers, toes, and pierced into her ears and belly button. Dark, heavy makeup weighs down her eyes, her lips are blood red, and her pitch black hair waves down her shoulders. Her legs are crossed, her eyes are closed, and her mouth is curled up in a smirk.
The woman opens her eyes slowly, and they rise from the floor to meet your gaze. Her coy smile remains. She quakes like a shiver is going up her spine, and she slips off the table and onto her knees, where she bows her head.
“Master,” she says.
“Who the fuck are you?!” you ask in a slightly more hysterical tone than you intended.
“I’m Joy.”

-ˋˏ ꒰ 🐚 ꒱ ── the odysseus : a character study ( death by boating accident tw ).
the  35  ft  white  sailboat  parked  at  the  valparaiso  marina  is  made  out  of  lightweight  aluminum,  teak  wood  and  fiberglass.  it’s  small  enough  that  a  one-man  operation  is  not  too  physically  strenuous,  but  the  boat  itself  is  showing  it’s  age  and  previous  neglect  :  the  hull  is  crusted  with  barnacles.  the  steel  railings  are  starting  to  rust.  the  upper  deck  creaks  with  each  step,  and  if  rohan  is  docked  at  the  marina  instead  of  on  the  water  it’s  likely  because  he’s  replacing  rotting  boards,  ropes,  and  corroded  parts  inside  the  motor.  netting  hangs  from  the  side,  disappearing  into  the  dark  water  of  the  marina  below.
the  odysseus  was  originally  built  in  the  late  1980s.  rohan  impulsively  bought  it  five  years  ago  off  the  coast  of  vancouver  while  on  bereavement  leave  after  the  death  of  his  mother  and  sister.  when  he  bought  it  the  boat  was  practically  unusable,  and  because  of  that  it  was  cheap.  equipped  with  nothing  but  lots  of  extra  time  and  a  desperate  need  to  distract  himself  from  the  crushing  reality  of  his  grief  (  and  the  guilt  of  not  returning  home  for  the  funerals  )  rohan  spent  half  a  year  teaching  himself  the  basics  of  boat  repair  instead  of  dealing  with  his  own  problems  :  he  replaced  the  sails,  stripped  the  plumbing,  gutted  the  interior  until  he  was  able  to  take  it  out  for  the  first  time.
a  set  of  horizontal  doors  open  to  a  ladder  that  leads  below-deck.  his  living  space  is  uncomfortably  small,  especially  for  a  grown  man  :  a  kitchenette  with  a  stovetop,  a  seating  area  that’s  become  a  makeshift  workbench,  an  archway  that  opens  onto  a  bed.  rohan  is  at  least  tidy,  if  not  particularly  organized.  empty  surface  area  is  artfully  cluttered  with  different  equipment  he’s  tinkering  with,  half-finished  composition  notebooks  full  of  numbers,  books  he’s  in  the  middle  of  reading.  sticky  notes  dangle  from  cupboards  with  coordinates  and  irrelevant  and  months-old  reminders  like  call  dad  and  make  dentist  appointment,  all  of  which  are  incomplete  and  entirely  forgotten  about  (  or  avoided.  )
once  the  boat  was  in  working  order,  it  was  only  a  matter  of  time  before  he  quit  the  research  position  he  worked  so  hard  to  get  and  travelled  down  the  west  coast  a  free  unemployed  man.  while  he  was  traveling  he  started  to  collect  an  arsenal  of  makeshift  camera  equipment  and,  thus,  unique  footage  of  different  kinds  of  sea  life.  rohan  considers  himself  more  as  a  documentarian  than  a  scientist.  because  he  never  studied  marine  biology,  he  doesn’t  feel  comfortable  as  a  voice  in  any  scientific  communities,  but  he  still  frames  all  of  his  work  through  the  lens  of  education  rather  than  entertainment.  his  goal  is  to  showcase  the  beauty  of  the  ocean,  but  also  to  document  animal  behaviours  so  they  can  be  studied  in  better  detail  by  people  who  have  a  better  idea  about  what  they’re  looking  at.  rohan  understands  just  how  fragile  alive  things  are,  and  how  fast  some  of  them  are  disappearing,  and  he’s  determined  to  document  them  before  that  happens.
during  this  time  he  got  a  lot  of  random,  unstructured  footage,  which  he  started  gathering  into  a  portfolio  collected  on  youtube  and  tiktok.  he  refuses  to  be  on  camera,  so  the  platforms  themselves  didn’t  draw  in  money  or  attention,  but  it  allowed  him  to  showcase  what  it  was  he  wanted  to  do  to  people  who  mattered  (  and  gave  him  some  extra  funds  to  cover  the  expenses  of  being  alive.  )  rohan  was  able  to  start  applying  for  grants  and  contracts,  and  his  reputation  within  academic  circles  quickly  shifted  from  up  and  coming  climate  scientist  to  nomadic  oceanic  videographer  ;  most  of  his  contracts  are  to  film  and  edit  together  raw  footage  into  informational  videos  for  conservation  groups  or  educational  institutions.
beside  the  ladder  are  a  twin  set  of  metal  lockers  for  storage  :  spare  oxygen  tanks  and  his  scuba  equipment,  gas  canisters,  first  aid,  flares.  an  apocalyptic  preparation  kit  for  the  worst  case  scenarios.  a  calendar  swings  precariously  attached  to  the  teak  wood  wall  above,  persistently  falling  off  the  wall  with  the  ebb  and  flow  of  the  waves,  marking  important  deadlines.  the  calendar  is  carefully  plotted  out,  days  crossed  out  and  circled  in  red  ink.  it’s  easy  to  lose  track  of  time  when  you  spend  days  on  the  ocean  at  a  time.
when  he’s  in  between  grants  or contracts  rohan  has  free  reign  to  track  and  study  whatever  he’s  passionate  about  in  the  moment.  during  these  periods  he  usually  studies  the  seasonal  ecosystems  just  off  the  coast  of  valparaiso,  with  his  topic  of  interest  changing  depending  on  the  time  of  year  and  the  animals  that  are  nearby.  the  reefs  off  the  beaches  aren’t  particularly  deep  so  he  usually  doesn’t  bother  with  heavy  tanks  or  equipment  ;  rohan  was  effectively  born  freediving──  diving  without  tanks  and  heavy  equipment──  in  the  kelp  forests  just  off  the  coast  of  falmouth,  so  he  doesn’t  rely  on  equipment  as  much.  when  he  invites  people  out  diving  with  him,  it’s  usually  within  sight  of  the  beaches  and  the  marina.
every  few  weeks  he  takes  longer  excursions  further  out  into  the  pacific.  these  are  generally  for  a  specific  purpose  or  to  track  and  get  footage  of  a  specific  animal  on  request──  migrating  whales,  hammerhead  sharks  around  the  seamounts,  sea  turtles──  and  he  will  spend  multiple  days  at  a  time  out  on  the  water  without  coming  back  into  port.  he  doesn’t  bring  people  out  on  multi-day  trips  like  this  ;  he  does  these  alone,  because  he  doesn’t  like  the  idea  of  being  stuck  with  anyone  with  no  escape  for  an  extended  period  of  time,  and  because  if  something  happens,  he  wants  to  be  sure  that  he’s  the  only  one  put  at  risk.  these  are  usually  the  times  where  he  digs  out  all  of  his  actual  diving  gear  because  the  water  is  deeper  and  he  wants  to  be  down  there  for  longer,  though  he  will  still  freedive  just  for  fun.
the  decor  inside  the  boat  is  sparse  and  impersonal;  everything  serves  a  functional  purpose  rather  than  aesthetic  purpose.  there’s  one  exception.  tucked  in  a  back  corner,  half-hidden  by  the  safety  equipment  piled  in  front  of  them,  old  photos  are  taped  to  an  elegantly  decorated  box  :  an  older  woman  holding  a  giant  spider  crab,  that  same  woman  and  a  younger  verison  of  her  smiling  and  waving  towards  the  camera,  a  family  standing  in  front  of  a  wild,  overgrown  garden  near  the  sea.  unfortunately  the  movement  of  the  waves  don’t  allow  for  trinkets  that  aren’t  tied  down,  so  inside  the  box  sit  the  sentimental  items  that  rohan  can’t  bring  himself  to  get  rid  of,  such  as  the  shark  tooth  his  sister  gave  hi  when  he  was  7  or  the  collection  of  seashells  from  falmouth  he  used  to  keep  on  the  windowsill  of  his  college  dorm.  the  most  recently  addition  is  a  basket  of  dead  things,  used  to  make  a  makeshift  offerenda  luna  insisted  upon  after  finding  a  shedded  crab  skin  their  first  dive  together.  rohan  wears  the  key  to  the  box  around  his  neck,  still  carrying  the  secrets  him  and  his  sisters  used  to  hide  inside  it  when  they  were  kids.
rohan’s  obsession  with  the  ocean  is  bordering  on  religious.  it’s  in  part  a  regression,  coming  from  an  attempt  to  reconnect  with  his  childhood,  aka  the  fond  memories  he  has  with  a  family  he  won’t  see  again.  it  became  very  obvious  once  the  accident  happened  how  little  rohan  actually  cared  about  the  conferences  and  research  labs,  and  he  was  able  to  remember  the  reason  why  he  went  into  ocean  sciences  in  the  first  place──  not  for  prestige  or  money  or  to  save  the  world,  but  because  he  was  raised  by  people  who  loved  the  ocean  and  it’s  part  of  his  dna.
the  odysseus  is  where  his  self-inflicted  isolation  started.  although  he’s  well  aware  of  the  dangers  of  diving  alone,  he’s  more  likely  to  sacrifice  his  personal  safety  for  the  serenity  of  being  the  only  human  for  miles  or  for  the  efficiency  of  knowing  he  can  complete  his  work  on  his  own.  it’s  easier  to  pour  all  of  his  energy  outside  of  himself  and  into  something  that  he  thinks  is  productive  and  helpful  ;  and  because  the  things  he  does  are  productive  and  helpful,  rohan  doesn’t  have  to  stop,  pause,  process  everything  that  happened  in  the  last  half-decade.  it’s  likely  that  he  not  stumbled  into  the  opportunity  he  may  have  been  forced  into  working  through  some  of  these  issues,  but  for  now,  if  the  sea  decides  to  take  him and reunite him with the people he's lost,  then  he  will  happily  go  with  it.

I spent a lot of time thinking about what my favorite cards would be to submit to a poll bracket a few months ago, and one unexpected conclusion that I came to was that I ran across a number of cards that I think would be pretty justified being in a "best" Magic card bracket that was at least attempting to be something other than completely subjective.
Normally when you're talking about "best" it's tricky because there are a lot of dimensions to what makes a card good. The main ones for me would be:
Mechanical Design (does the card do something unique/interesting?)
Aesthetics (the art, name, flavor text, concept and the way that all of that harmonizes with what the card does)
Historical Relevance (did this card mark a shift in design of the game? was this card important in various competitive formats? does it otherwise embody a particular moment in the history of the game, including stuff like "popular inside joke"?)
The thing is that there are cards that are hard to argue aren't slam dunks in all three categories. One of the main ones that jumped out at me as a card that I didn't really have much personal affection for but really did feel like it was everything you could hope for in a Magic card was Delver of Secrets.
Tumblr media
Innistrad marks a turning point in a lot of ways; the first set with double faced cards and the set that debuted Magic's modern engagement with popular culture as a focus for set design. Delver of Secrets uses double faced cards and transform to execute on a reference to The Fly, but the translation to Magic's aesthetic is flawless enough that you don't need to know about that movie to understand why this card exists or appreciate what it's trying to do. A wizard doing unethical experiments and becoming something else is a natural fit, and there wasn't an attempt to extend the similarities to the movie beyond the concept even though you could have.
Visually, the front side is a striking composition - with the mantis in the hand and the shadows behind the person. The back side is a very effective bit of body horror imagery. It's not something I want to hang on my wall, but it's effective at everything that you need it to be. The cages of empty specimens and evocative flavor text all tell a compelling story with the very limited space.
The transformation trigger looking at the top card of your library is a good representation for a researcher, and from a mechanical design element has a surprising amount of depth of play; Magic has lots of things that interact with the top of the deck, allowing you to set up the transformation or make use of the knowledge of what you're going to draw in some other way like shuffling away a dead draw. Revealing the card that you draw is a drawback since some cards become much less effective if your opponent knows about them; the better your opponent, the worse it is that they know what is in your hand. The fact that it's optional to reveal the card creates the potential for a bluffing situation.
Delver of Secrets was a premier threat across multiple formats (legacy, pauper, more than one standard format) for many years, being the namesake of a variety of aggressive and highly interactive tempo decks that would stick a cheap threat and then back it up with removal and disruption in order to keep their opponent off balance long enough to seal the deal.

just want to throw this out there: blocking screenshots only works in "software" - what i mean is, if you have "hardware" that can capture audio/video signal, they can't do shit about it.
have an old vcr? get an hdmi to composite converter, mirror your display into the vcr and record what's on your screen. those hardware game capture devices? those work too.
same for audio. want to start a physical music collection for free? thrift an old (but working) tape deck, hook the audio out on your device into it, and record. you might have to play around until you find the right volume level to record at so it doesn't blow everything out. keep track of how many minutes are on each side so you don't have any songs cut off.
then there's always, y'know, downloading instead of streaming, using something like soulseek. then you can do whatever with the physical files - burn them to cd, record them on cassette, buy an old cheap mp3 player, etc. plus, you never have to worry about some specific version of a song you like disappearing from a streaming service.
“To protect their copyright, streaming sites do not allow for screenshotting of any kind.”
Hey remember VHS where you bought a box to plug into your tv and you could legally record whatever was playing and then own it for free forever

Luxurious Outdoor Living Without Breaking the Bank
Dreaming of a high-end outdoor retreat but worried about the cost? You’re not alone—and the good news is luxury doesn’t have to mean spending a fortune. At Ventana Outdoor Living, we specialize in creating elegant, functional outdoor spaces that are both upscale and budget-conscious. Over our two decades in Arizona, we’ve discovered that a few smart design strategies and the right furniture choices can deliver a luxe experience without the luxe price tag.
Experience premium style with luxury outdoor living on a budget: tips & picks
Budget-friendly luxury is all about wise priorities: invest in a few signature pieces, then build around them with more affordable accents. Ventana’s expertise in balancing statement items with stylish yet economical additions ensures your space looks curated, not cheap. That’s the essence of luxury outdoor living on a budget tips & picks—grand style that feels intentional, not pieced together.
Step 1: Choose One Statement Piece
Luxury outdoor design starts with a focal point:
A modern outdoor sofa in teak or powder-coated aluminum
A custom fire table that invites evening conversations
A sleek outdoor dining table that seats six or more
Ventana often recommends investing 40–50% of your furniture budget on one major piece and then layering in smaller accents like cushions, lanterns, and planters to complete the look. This approach ensures the space reads luxury from the moment you walk in.
Step 2: Mix High- and Low-End Elements
After your focal piece is set, enhance the space with complementary yet cost-effective items:
Paint or stain existing decks or uneven pavers to give them a polished look
Add an outdoor rug and weather-resistant cushions for comfort and cohesion
Use string lights or lanterns—they’re affordable and instantly dramatic
Introduce potted plants or a small water feature to breathe life into the design
These touches cost a fraction of premium furniture but amplify style and ambiance.
Step 3: Go Modular or DIY Where You Can
Modular furniture and DIY upgrades give you flexibility and savings.
Modular sofas let you expand over time
DIY firepits or concrete coffee tables can be made inexpensively and customized to your aesthetic
Pallet-based benches or side tables, refinished with paint or stain
Ventana’s design consultants can help integrate DIY pieces so they look professional and match the overall design.
Step 4: Use Affordable Materials That Look Premium
What matters most is how materials look and perform:
Composite wood or concrete pavers can mimic natural stone on a budget
Powder-coated aluminum offers clean lines, durability, and sophistication
Resin wicker looks high-end but holds up against the weather
Water-resistant cushions (like solution-dyed acrylic) provide comfort and color without breaking the bank
Ventana sources materials that feel luxurious yet are conscious of cost and climate.
Step 5: Illuminate the Space Like a Pro
Good lighting is a luxury without a luxury price.
String lights draped overhead add romance and warmth
LED uplights enhance architectural features or plants
Solar path-lights are energy-efficient and charming
Lanterns or candles create cozy focal points near seating
Lighting design is often what sets a space apart, and Ventana’s team knows how to do it right.
Step 6: Add Greenery and Natural Accents
Plants soften hard surfaces and add texture.

How to Choose the Right Deck Installer in Kleinburg
Adding a deck to your home is one of the most rewarding investments you can make—especially in a community like Kleinburg, where spacious backyards, scenic surroundings, and luxury homes call for stylish outdoor living spaces. But the quality of your deck depends largely on one crucial decision: choosing the right deck installer in Kleinburg.
With so many contractors out there, how do you know who to trust? Here’s your complete buyer’s guide to finding a skilled, reputable, and reliable deck installer who understands the unique needs of Kleinburg homeowners.
1. Look for Local Expertise in Kleinburg
Working with a local deck installer has its advantages. They’re familiar with Kleinburg’s building codes, climate considerations, and architectural styles. A contractor who regularly works in the area is more likely to understand how to design a deck that complements your property while ensuring compliance with local zoning laws.
Pro Tip: Ask if they’ve done work in Kleinburg before and request addresses or photos of past projects in the area.
2. Check for Proper Licensing and Insurance
Hiring a deck installer without the proper credentials can be risky. Always ensure that the installer is fully licensed and insured to work in Ontario. This protects you from liability in case of accidents or damage during the build.
What to Ask:
Are you licensed to build in Vaughan/Kleinburg?
Do you carry liability insurance and WSIB coverage?
3. Read Reviews and Ask for References
Online reviews are your first clue about a company’s professionalism, work ethic, and quality. Platforms like Google, Houzz, and HomeStars often feature reviews from local homeowners. But don’t stop there—ask the installer for references and follow up.
Key Questions to Ask References:
Were you happy with the final deck?
Was the project completed on time and on budget?
How was the communication throughout the process?
4. Evaluate Their Portfolio
The best deck installers in Kleinburg will have a solid portfolio showcasing a variety of styles, materials, and finishes. Reviewing past projects gives you a feel for their craftsmanship and whether their aesthetic matches your vision.
Look for:
Quality of finishes and railings
Integration with landscaping or pools
Custom features like pergolas, lighting, or privacy walls
5. Get a Detailed Quote—Not Just a Price
A professional deck installer will provide more than just a number scribbled on a napkin. Look for a detailed written estimate that outlines:
Materials to be used (wood type, fasteners, railings)
Square footage and dimensions
Project timeline and milestones
Warranty or guarantees
Red Flag: Extremely low quotes may suggest corners being cut with cheap materials or unskilled labour.
6. Ask About Materials and Suppliers
Not all decking materials are created equal. Whether you’re considering pressure-treated wood, cedar, composite, or PVC, your installer should educate you on the pros and cons of each. A reliable deck installer in Kleinburg will work with reputable suppliers and ensure material warranties are honoured.
7. Discuss Permits and Building Codes
Building a deck in Kleinburg typically requires permits and must comply with the City of Vaughan’s building codes. A reputable installer should take care of the permit process or guide you through it if it’s your responsibility.
Ask This: “Will you handle the permitting process, or do I need to? How do you ensure the design complies with local codes?”
8. Clarify the Project Timeline
Understanding the timeline up front can help manage expectations and plan your landscaping or summer hosting around it. Ask for a realistic estimate and make sure the installer communicates any delays clearly.
9. Look for Transparent Communication
Clear, consistent communication is key to a smooth project. Your installer should answer questions promptly, keep you updated on progress, and be easy to reach by phone or email. Trust your gut—if someone is hard to contact before you hire them, that won’t improve once work begins.
10. Don’t Forget the Warranty
Professional deck installers usually provide workmanship warranties, in addition to the manufacturer warranties on materials. Make sure all warranty details are included in your final contract.
Ask:
What is your workmanship warranty?
How do you handle post-installation service requests?
Ready to Build Your Dream Deck in Kleinburg?
Choosing the right deck installer in Kleinburg doesn’t have to be stressful. With the right questions and a bit of research, you can find a professional who brings your vision to life—with quality, style, and durability that lasts for years.

How to Choose the Best Deck Builders Near Victoria: A Comprehensive Guide
A well-built deck isn’t just a beautiful addition to your home—it’s an outdoor living space where you can sip your morning coffee, enjoy family barbecues, and soak in those stunning Victoria sunsets. But let’s face it: finding the right deck builders near Victoria can be a bit overwhelming. With so many contractors claiming to be the best, how do you really know who’s up for the job?
Tumblr media
This comprehensive guide is here to help you navigate the process confidently so you can find reliable professionals who’ll build your dream deck—one that’s stylish, sturdy, and ready to withstand Vancouver Island’s unique coastal climate.
Start With Your Vision
Before you start searching for deck contractors near Victoria, take a moment to get clear on your goals. Are you looking to build a brand-new deck from scratch, or are you considering deck refinishing to revive an older structure? Do you prefer the natural look of cedar or the low-maintenance appeal of composite decking?
Jot down the must-haves—like built-in seating, lighting, or privacy features—and set a realistic budget. This will help you communicate clearly with your contractor and keep surprises to a minimum.
Do Your Local Homework
Victoria isn’t just any city—it’s a place where salty air, rainfall, and lush landscapes play a significant role in how materials age. That’s why choosing a local experience matters. A contractor based in Ontario or Alberta won’t know the ins and outs of building for our coastal climate like someone who works right here in town.
Look for companies with a solid reputation in Greater Victoria. One trusted name that often pops up in homeowner referrals? Bald Eagle Landscaping. They’ve earned a strong local following thanks to their commitment to quality and their deep understanding of how to build outdoor spaces that last.
Ask the Right Questions
Not all deck builders are created equal. Once you’ve shortlisted a few names, don’t be shy—interview them like you would any professional. Key questions to ask include:
Are you licensed and insured?
How many years have you been working in deck construction?
Can you show me photos of completed decks?
Do you offer warranties on your work?
Top-tier companies like Bald Eagle Landscaping will happily walk you through their past projects, explain their process, and give you peace of mind before any work begins.
Check Their Full Range of Services
Here’s a pro tip: hiring a company that offers more than just deck building often works to your advantage. Why? Because they understand how your new deck fits into your entire outdoor space.
Take Bald Eagle Landscaping for example. Besides being top-notch deck contractors near Victoria, they also offer:
Landscape Design
Landscape Construction
Irrigation Systems
Retaining Walls
Fence Construction
Outdoor Lighting
If you dream of a complete backyard makeover—think lush gardens, ambient lighting, or a privacy fence—working with one team keeps everything cohesive and on schedule.
For more details, visit their official website to explore the full scope of services.
Get a Quote—But Don’t Be Fooled by Price Alone
We get it—everyone wants a great deal. But when it comes to deck construction, going with the cheapest quote can often cost you more in the long run. Cheap materials, rushed jobs, and vague timelines are red flags.
When you request quotes, make sure they include everything—materials, permits, timelines, and potential extras. A professional like Bald Eagle Landscaping will provide a clear, detailed estimate so there are no surprises along the way.
Read Reviews and Ask for References
Online reviews are a goldmine of information. Look for comments on workmanship, timeliness, cleanliness, and overall satisfaction. Bonus points if the company replies professionally to both praise and criticism.
It’s also perfectly fair to ask for two or three references from recent clients. Past customers of Bald Eagle Landscaping often praise their friendly crew, transparent communication, and high-quality craftsmanship.
Know What to Expect During the Build
Your chosen contractor should walk you through the process: from design and material selection to timelines, permits, and cleanup. Ask how they handle Victoria’s unpredictable weather—will they pause work during heavy rain or snow? What happens if there are delays?
Schedule your free consultation today with Bald Eagle Landscaping to get a customized project timeline that works for you and your property.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. How long does it take to build a deck in Victoria?
A: Most decks take 1–3 weeks to complete, depending on size, design, and weather conditions. The crew at Bald Eagle Landscaping will give you a clear timeline upfront.

A: Cedar is popular for its natural resistance to moisture and insects, while composite decking offers low maintenance and longevity. Your contractor can help you choose based on your budget and style.
Q3. Can I refinish an existing deck instead of building a new one?
A: Absolutely. If the structure is sound, deck refinishing near Victoria can breathe new life into a tired space. Services may include sanding, staining, and replacing worn boards.

When it comes to the Best socks for skateboarding?
he Best Socks for Skateboarding: Comfort, Performance, and Protection
Skateboarding is a physically demanding activity that requires precision, balance, and resilience. While most skaters pay close attention to their decks, trucks, and shoes, socks are often overlooked. Yet, the right pair of socks can significantly enhance your comfort, performance, and protection while skating. Whether you’re cruising the streets or tackling the bowl, the best skateboarding socks offer durability, cushioning, moisture management, and support.
Why Skateboarding Socks Matter
Skating places a lot of stress on your feet. From repeated impacts during landings to hours of pushing and carving, your feet endure a lot. Cheap or unsuitable socks can lead to blisters, foot fatigue, and even injury. Quality skateboarding socks provide:
Impact Absorption: Landing tricks repeatedly can take a toll on your heels and soles. Proper socks offer extra padding in these high-impact zones.
Moisture Management: Skating can get sweaty. Socks that wick moisture help prevent blisters and odor.
Durability: Rough grip tape, friction, and wear can tear apart cheap socks. Skate-specific designs are built to last.
Support: Compression and arch support can reduce fatigue during long sessions.
Key Features to Look For in Skateboarding Socks
Material Composition: Look for blends that include cotton, polyester, nylon, and spandex. Cotton provides softness, while synthetic fibers enhance durability and moisture-wicking.
Cushioning: Extra padding in the heel, toe, and sole can reduce the impact and increase comfort. This is especially helpful for street skaters or those who perform high-impact tricks.
Breathability: Mesh ventilation zones or moisture-wicking fabrics help keep your feet cool and dry.
Length: Most skateboarders prefer crew-length or higher socks to protect against grip tape burns and provide ankle support.
Reinforced Areas: Look for reinforced heels and toes to prevent holes and extend the life of your socks.
Compression Fit: Some socks come with light compression for arch and ankle support, which helps reduce fatigue and swelling.

Tips for Choosing the Right Pair
Test Different Brands: Everyone’s foot shape and skating style are different. Try a few to see what feels best.
Stock Up: Once you find a good pair, buy a few. Skate socks wear out, especially with frequent skating.
Mind the Fit: Too tight can restrict blood flow; too loose can bunch up and cause blisters.
Wash with Care: Follow washing instructions to maintain elasticity and comfort.

Local  hardware stores are usually the first points of purchase when seeking Building Materials for sale in USA most hardware stores stock some of the essential materials that consist of but are not limited to timber, cement, nails, and even tools. Most importantly, the materials can be physically be seen for confirmation that the applications are the quality of your choice.

They do really cut down on waste that will be generated, but you'll add a type of real uniqueness to your projects. Choosing the Right Building Materials
The type of things to delve into while selecting the perfect material would depend on the size of your project, the budget you are working on actually, the climate you live in, and a few other features. Here are things to consider when choosing materials:
1. Durability
The durability of materials will't be forgotten. For outdoor projects, prioritize materials that are weather-resistant. Pressure-treated lumber is great for deck projects; the composite material is good for roofing.
2. Cost-Effectiveness
It is true that one has to work within his budget, but at times, the outcome of the materials used can bring more damage once it proves to be of poor quality. Try using those materials whose affordabilities versus long-time run viability of being useful are appropriate. The more that materials like bamboo, reclaimed wood, and recycled steel start to become more than just environment-friendly, the strung-out selling point for these items becomes their environmental goodness.
Benefits of Buying Quality Building Materials
Budgeting for quality building materials could be more beneficial in the short-term, and in the long-run, the following key ones:.
1. Reduced Maintenance Costs
Better materials prove economical in the longer run since they call for relatively lesser spending on maintenance and repair inputs, saving you lots of money in the long run compared to cheap alternatives.
2. Enhanced Durability and Strength
Premium materials used for construction are those with a guarantee to depend on despite the difficult weather conditions, to solve problems loaded to a piece, and natural decay, which assures you of the long-lasting and resistant structure against damages.
3. Improved Aesthetic Appeal
Better materials typically mean higher-quality finishes. Superior appeal to your property is achieved by using better materials no matter what you do, from new flooring to updated windows or roofing.
Conclusion: Invest in good quality building materials for long success
Regardless of whether it's a mega or minor construction project, using quality building items is certainly what spells success. Merely source the items through a good provider and favor something that's cost-effective, long-lasting, and viable so that your project does not remain alive for just a few days.

WPC Exterior Wall Cladding: A Modern Solution for Sustainable and Stylish Building Exteriors
Tumblr media
The exterior aesthetics and resilience of buildings have grown tremendously as a result of WPC louvers for exterior walls in years. The natural beauty of wood and new age materials’ toughness can be combined by installing WPC cladding that serves both urban and rural settlements stylishly as well as sustainable.
What WPC is?
WPC is a blend of wood fiber or sawdust and thermoplastics like polyethylene, polypropylene, or PVC is an artificial substances. This reaction produces a material that looks like timber, but lasts longer under harsh climatic conditions and requires less upkeep. WPC is utilized for both external wall coverings and decking, fencing, etc.
Sustainable Choice
WPC exterior wall panels readymade cladding is indeed, one of the top advantages. In many aspects, this plastic wood composite (WPC) is unique among materials because it forms part of a global trend toward more environmentally responsible building practices.
Recycled materials :- WPC consists mainly of reprocessed timber and also leftover parts from plastic production reducing the need to rely on new resources for example trees. This is the perfect solution to all environmental issues; it lowers their pollution levels in landfills by giving them a new lease of life. Besides, it helps in preserving the planet.
Long Lifespan :- Traditional wood does not last as long hence it requires replacement more often; WPC on the other hand lasts longer because it is durable enough to withstand any pressure applied on its surface for example heavy rain or snowing storms. It thus contributes to less resource consumption over time.
Reduced Maintenance :- In contrast with natural wood, which demands frequent painting, staining, or sealing against weather damage, WPC cladding repels moisture rot and fruit fly infestation naturally. This reduces the need for chemical products which can harm both people’s health and ecosystems.
Stylish and All-purpose Architects, as well as designers, can depend on the WPC supplier in Bangalore to provide a good-looking environment for their buildings. It does this through various methods such as having features like the natural texture and grain of wood but it can also offer so many colors and finishes that could be blended into different design styles.
Flexible Design :- We could say that WPC cladding takes on many forms starting from conventional wooden touches to shiny new-age surfaces of today. Therefore giving you an opportunity to think outside the box when designing facades which match your conceptually built house or office.
Uniformity :- In contrast to natural timber which varies depending on where it grows within a given region’s climate, WPC has a constant appearance all through the surface area of its body. This makes for convenience especially if one is dealing with big projects where the aim is creating a uniform look.
Less Care In Beauty :- With little change in color or fading, WPC cladding tends to remain with a similar hue and texture as at the time of installation. Therefore, it means that the construction’s fresh and fashionable outlook will only require less maintenance during that period.
Practical Benefits
Aside from beauty and environmental friendliness, WPC gate panels have various practical benefits.
Durability :- Weatherwise, WPC is highly resistant to extreme temperatures, UV rays, and moisture. Therefore, it becomes a great choice for exterior applications where exposure to elements is a matter of concern.
Simplicity to Fix :- Installing WPC cladding is very easy because the panels interlock. This lowers labor costs while minimizing the duration of projects.
Cost-Effective :- Although the initial outlay on WPC cladding is higher than that of ordinary wood, being long-lasting and cheap concerning maintenance means that it is one of the cheapest options in the long run.
Conclusion
A superb combination of design, sustainability, and practicality is represented by WPC louvers manufacturers in India. In case you need cladding for your modern home or any kind of business building, the WPC cladding service by Makmore with its unique ability to resist harsh weather conditions becomes the best choice for a long time. The growth of the construction industry means that WPC will soon become common among builders and designers who look forward to future building technologies.

Hello everyone! I'm back now, hopefully!
Yapping under the jump.
My doctors finally straightened out my pharmacy so I actually have my medicine again now and that plus the nice weather here is making me feel a lot better. But holy hell am I tired after three weeks of higher-than-even-my-alarmingly-elevated baseline anxiety.
I'm going to try to ease back into things here slowly (I've missed all of you), but in the meantime here's some actually fun site news:
Resident Evil 3 (2020) - this is a game that stars Jill, for those of you not in the fandom - was on sale this past week for quite cheap and I stayed true to my threat and bought it.
I can't say I genuinely 'like' it (there's still way too many things both it and the original RE3:N did that piss me off and are completely at odds with my understanding and portrayal of Jill), but there's some interesting things the modding community has pulled off with it I wasn't previously aware of, so I am enjoying it more than I thought I would.
Jill counts for a lot for me though, and it looks to be on its way towards becoming a less severe RE5-style situation where my feelings on the game are immensely fraught and frustrated at unfulfilled potential.
I of course didn't buy the game for the actual game like a normal person, though, no: I bought it for the icon making opportunities XD.
Which brings me to a question: Now that I have both R3make and RE4make and enough mods to create some interesting compositions, would anyone be interested in seeing some pretty pictures or even maybe gameplay capture of the ladies on here as Aesthetic and Self posts?
I should add that I would make far racier stuff for this blog, as befitting its purpose.
Just bear in mind I play on a Steam Deck OLED so don't go expecting super hi-fi ultrawide 8K image quality or whatever XD
