LOOKISM'S TIMELINE (WITH EDIT DOWN BELOW)
Hello, my fellow Lookism readers! I made a Lookism timeline based on my understanding of the plot, as I struggle to go through it in my head over and over again because it gets confusing as the story goes on.
I write a fanfiction based on Lookism, and I wanted to get the timeline as accurate as possible, so if you're going to add/ correct me in some details, I'll happily accept it!
I am posting it to get help because my brain cells couldn't handle fixing the timeline based on the backstories of the characters anymore. (I haven't re-read Lookism in so long, and the backstories are jumbled. That's why it was harder to do this because fixing the timeline is messing with my head.)
Here's what I made:
Tumblr media
(I hope you can see it clearly hahahaha)
Please tell me if there's any correction or if I forgot to add something. Thank you! o((>ω< ))o
Note:
Main Cast: Daniel, Allied, and his friends from J High are 17 years old as first-year high school students. Gun and Goo are a year older together with Samuel and Jake (16 when the 4MC is formed). James Lee is older than Gun and Goo (21-22). The first generation kings are a bit older than James (23 or above).
EDIT (250421): COLORED TEXTS ARE THE ONES CHANGED/ADDED
Hi guys! I'm here to correct a mistake I made! So I went back to Ep. 497: Cheonliang (16) and realized Jichang's fall and James attacking the Kings happened at the same time.
Also, Vin Jin might be (14-15— I'm just clarifying this because I just decisively said 15 on the first box. I just don't think he could be 15 by that time because shortly after, Jichang fought the 22-year-old Gitae Kim, who was 7 years older than Jake Kim, and that makes Jake 15 y/o when Jichang and Gitae fought. Take note that Jake Kim is a year older than Daniel and the others.)
Here's the correct events: (From: Third Box, 1st Row above)
In Ep. 496: Cheonliang (15), Gun's statement implies that James Lee has already killed Gapryong by this time (by his appearance in Cheonliang, Gapryong is already dead).
James Lee entered his training arc. (This is from the fifth box on the first row, but is moved to the fourth.)
James Lee sends Gitae Kim to overthrow Jichang Kwak as the King of Seoul while simultaneously attacking the King of Ansan, Taesoo Ma. (Attacks on KOS and KOA happened at the same time— proven in Ep. 497 where Gitae calls James to say he was finished.)
Gitae Kim goes back to Mexico, with James being the one to get him his plane tickets.
Jichang Kwak gets banished to Chungcheong Province after being dethroned from his position.
James then proceeds to go after the other 1st Generation Kings, entering a new era.
THAT'S IT FOR NOW! Sorry I noticed it too late (I just read the chapter again). I apologize for the confusion this might've caused. 😭

lookism ch 484 semi analysis semi rant
ok so MAYBE im just projecting good character writing onto lookism because frankly, after the shitshow that was 1A, i have lost a lot of confidence in ptj's writing abilities, but i GENUINELY think the ending sequence of today's chapter was incredibly done

like... idk...
it's not that vin jin didn't want to be saved. he did. he spoke out against the shaman and the village and probably secretly wanted someone to agree and to change their ways and save him; it's just that he felt like it was too hard and too embarrassing to be saved by a village that hated his very existence. every time he tried to speak out against what was happening to him, he would only be punished, so he was gradually taught that wanting to be saved was something shameful and that would be punished. and since he would only get disappointed again and again by trying to look for salvation, he decided he would stop looking. he takes pride in that, really. he takes pride in growing up and fending off the bullies and being strong and he hates the idea of needing to be saved because... why wouldn't he?
it's never worked in the past. a mix of his defense mechanism of being a mean person to stop others from hurting him and his internal self-hatred that secretly believes that he brings suffering to the people around him and that he is a monster combine to create a sort of "i'm good enough on my own. i neither want nor need to be saved" kind of mentality. he doesn't want to be vulnerable enough to admit that he really wants to be saved so seeing him take that first step admit that "yes, i want to be saved" is SUCH a cathartic moment. it's like that one kim dokja "ah, as i thought, i'm glad i survived" moment. it's not a particularly poetic or life-changing statement, but the fact that it comes from someone that, before this point, has only ever wanted to die and has never expressed that they wanted to be save or keep living just makes it hit a lot harder.
and the fact that he is validated for the first time after this, not only because he realizes that seongji, someone he perceives as cool and strong and noble is also a "monster" like him (thus indirectly implying that he can also change his circumstances and improve his station), but also because he was finally recognized as anything but a monster.... i think the expression in that panel really expresses that emotion well. the sort of warmth and shock from being cared for and approved of for the first time since his mom died.
its just so UGH... but maybe im reading too much into it.

WAIT I wanna know when did Gun go to busan- (Reading ur timeline)
I am not up to date with lookism > <
- 🥔 Sentient Potato
LOOKISM SPOILERS AHEAD!
Gun escaped from Japan with his mother's help; he looks pretty young when it happened, I'd say around 13 to 14. After getting smuggled, he was able to meet Gapryong Kim in Busan, who was about to see his disciple. Gapryong gave him some advice, something around the words "he'll be safe," and that was in prison, where he spent his time training before he met Charles Choi, who was a cleaner at the prison at that time. Now, I'm not kinda sure about their age, but here's what I know:
The main story started when Daniel was 17
Gun said he was preparing for the GED when he encountered Daniel at the School Festival. (GED takers are usually 18 years old in SK)
Gun was called "Senior" by Woojin and his gang, back in the episode where Namsoo (the guy Zack ordered to buy him shoes online) was scammed. A senior's age was around 18 years.
The back story of Big Deal was three years ago, when the main characters of J High were in their 2nd Year of high school. Meaning when they were first years, it was from two years ago.
So 18 minus 2 is 16. Gun was 16 when they started going after the gangs in Gangseo, along with Goo, Samuel, and Jake.
Since Gun Park was 16 when he was forming the 4MC, and before that, he trained with Tom Lee together with Goo Kim, he was most likely in prison when he was 14-15.
Additional:
Sinu Han was 19 in the Big Deal Arc
James Lee was 18 when he went after Shinmyeong Cheon (The Shaman from Cheonliang)
The First Generation Kings were 19-20 at the time of Cheonliang Arc; they were 1 to 2 years older than James. Taesoo Ma's age was confirmed to be 23 years old when he first appeared.
Gitae Kim was 7 years older than Jake. He was 22 when he dethroned Jichang Kwak as the King of Seoul. Meaning, Jake was only 15 by this time, and he hadn't met Jason and Brad yet.
I based these on the backstories, GED age, Reddit posts, and Lookism's Wiki. I hope this helps! Was I able to clarify your question, though? Sorry, I kinda rambled (I lowkey had to clarify things for myself too because I am writing a fanfic book based on the whole series) 😭😭😭

Highlights of Eps 489-491
SPOILER ALERT
Tumblr media
Soojin Kim (the sister) told Jewoo Park (the leader of Cheonliang Fam) that Vin went to attack the shaman Shinmyeong Cheon because of what she told him regarding his mother.
Tumblr media
The Cheonliang Fam rushed to save Vin (or prevent him from killing), but actually only Vin managed to even get inside Shinmyeong's residence and did some minor damage.
Vin told them that he had to do this for his mother, whom the shaman killed, or else he wouldn't be able to live with himself.
The shaman's men, particularly the yakshas and the Gwang Yoo trio whom Shinmyeong hired, were stronger than them.
Tumblr media
Even though Vin managed to surprise Beolgu Lee, who suspected the teenager's lineage as Mujin's son, he was still no match for Beolgu.
Just as the kids were cornered (Mary even had to carry Vin on her back), Seongji came and saved them. They ran away, but followed by Beolgu, Gwang, and Jaesu Noh.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apparently Seongji got there after Soojin told him what happened, and Seongji burned down his house, then decided to face Shinmyeong once and for all, even if he had to die.
The Kojima brothers were overwhelmed by Seongji's actual strength, and Shinmyeong was worried.
Tumblr media
Especially since the young King of Cheonliang told him that he wasn't actually indebted to the two yakshas, or the Gwijeon Brothers (Ghost Legend) as Gabryong and Baekho used to call them. Yes, Seongji's actual teacher was none other than Mujin Jin: Vin's father.
Tumblr media
Then, supposedly delegated by Charles Choi to help Shinmyeong "clean" the mess, James Lee arrived at the scene.
Tumblr media
To Shinmyeong's annoyance, James came instead of Gun. Additionally, instead of fighting Seongji right away, young James offered Seongji a position as the manager of the budding four crews: someone who was better than "the two people I got first" (was James referring to Gun and Goo?). And was hiring a minor always in the plan from the get-go, yet James was willing to hire Seongji instead?
Seongji refused, and he and James dueled, each topping the other, from broken collarbone to fighting with one's hands out of one's pockets, speed against speed, strength against strength.
Tumblr media
James saw that he and Seongji fought in a similar way: tough and powerful, with only differences in experiences.
The duel was so fiercely brutal, until in the end Seongji remembered how Mujin told him to believe in himself, literally his entire body (and his "cool" hands and feet, especially-- this is why he called Vin's eyes "cool") and won against James.
Tumblr media
In satisfaction, Seongji reminded James that there was someone who surpassed him (and that person was Seongji).
We saw that the jacket Seongji tied around his hip was Mujin's all along, just like the daenggi (ribbon) of Vin's mother was also Mujin's.

Note
everything I’ve read about them has been parental or kinda sexual 😭 so I want to ask for wholesome or silly headcanons about the first generation kings. I also hope PTJ will show more of a human side to Gitae and James soon 🥲 Thank you.
Oh🙂 you're so right. It's either overly sexualized or they're straightup parent figures. I'm guilty of that, too, but the 1st gen is truly the finest, so I guess it can't be helped.
And yes pls !!! We need to see more of Kitae and James's human or goofy side! Idk if it's silly or wholesome, but here you go :)
Characters : James Lee, Kitae Kim, Jaegyeon Na, Jinrang , Jichang Kwak, Seongji Yuk, Taesoo Ma.
JAMES LEE/DIEGO KANG
Tumblr media
James found any kind of attention annoying during school, fangirls, fanboys, all of them. As DG, he’s actually terrified of women, thanks to Stalker Girl 😶😶
Gun was hella disappointed when he found out James dyed his hair pink. The legend of the 1st generation... in pink? The same man who helped bring about Gap’s downfall? Gun used to scoff at him, and Goo didn’t hold back either, he said some very interesting things.
James is basically a grandpa at heart. All he really wants is some peace and quiet. He finds Kitae annoying too, and if the chance ever presented itself, he and Goo would definitely sit down for a good gossip session about that overgrown Hulk.
Though he’s repulsed by the overenthusiastic, creepy types, James is genuinely grateful to his fans. A part of him will always be indebted to their support.
KITAE KIM
Tumblr media
After finishing off Gapryong, Kitae asked James to find a good place to eat. James was still a teen back then, so of course, he picked a fast food joint, it was cheap, and he had to pay.
While they were eating, a lady commented on how sweet it was that a big brother was treating his younger brother. Kitae froze mid-bite, pulled out his axe, and James had to scramble to diffuse the situation.
Kitae can dance, and when he’s getting ready in Gap’s drip, he twirls confidently in front of the mirror like a fashion king.
If his brothers hadn’t worshipped Gap, Kitae would’ve been the nicest, most caring, coolest big brother ever. He truly would’ve tried to become the man Gap never could be.
JAEGYEON NA
Tumblr media
Gender? What’s that? Jaegyeon’s hands are rated E for everyone. He’s not a “ladies first” kind of guy. He believes in “whoever gets there first.” 😆
That said, he absolutely sucks at video games. It would take him hours, maybe days, just to pass one level. Meanwhile, Jichang always beats him.
He sends Yujae explosives, a truck, and a banner with a bomb that reads: "Eat your small dick." 💀💀
JINRANG
Tumblr media
Jinrang loved going on walks with his brothers whenever they had free time. He would feed stray animals and pet them gently.
Definitely the type who would enjoy rock climbing, hiking, and other outdoor adventures.
He’d help elderly grandmas cross the street and then get bombarded with people asking if he was single. He’d never reply, just blush and walk away flustered.
JICHANG KWAK
Tumblr media
Believe it or not, Jichang is a great actor (see: Holiday Arc). He once dreamed of being an actor but ultimately decided that his pride mattered more.
Secretly, he kind of thanked Kitae in his head, Seoul’s pollution was getting to him, and now he could finally breathe fresh countryside air 🤡
One day, Jihan and Jibeom teased that he didn’t look that strong. So he lifted both of them, and then threw them across the room.
SEONGJI YUK
Tumblr media
Sweet baby Seongji☺️☺️ He makes dry jokes or sarcastic remarks without even realizing what he said.
He once thought of teaching James proper manners, worrying silently that James’s parents must be so disappointed in him. Help 😭😭
As he slowly began healing with the Cheonliang fam, he started to consider getting an education or finding a job in a formal sector.
TAESOO MA
Tumblr media
Regular tea ☕ sessions with Hudson are a must. They talk about everything, yes, including bitching about James. Taesoo hates James. Truly. He makes constant snide remarks about how James dyed his hair pink: “Ew.”
But... somehow, he also can’t stop fantasizing about how thick James’s arms looked in that one outfit... or how muscular his back was.
He secretly listens to DG's songs and rates them all as “trash,” but why does he find his voice so good when DG raps he shamefully wonders.
Even runs a hate account dedicated to DG. Only to be viciously trolled by DG fangirls every single time. 😆😆
