Hi Astra!!!
Did you notice that the powers that the members of Ad Astra gained after taking the superhuman serum are references to their personalities or stories?? Look:
• Christian Bateman - A cold-hearted sadist gained cryokinetic powers.
• Joe Warren - Deputy Mayor and later Mayor of the city that manipulated things in favor of Ad Astra acquired telekinesis.
• Julia Brine - President of the company that would distribute Protozane throughout the city received the power to create a poisonous gas.
• Rozetta Pierre - Leader of the group, President of DreamLife and technology genius was, in many quotes, blessed with electrokinesis.
Three more questions:
A) What would Louis Leroux's power be??
B) If the new Ad Astra had taken the serum, what would each of their powers be??
C) The canon (In Breaking News) implied that the original Ad Astra didn't care about the new generation of the group, but what about in your universe?? Would Rozetta and the others have any real intention of taking the new quintet on a mission to lead the "flock" as equals??
I just don't ask what the codenames of the new generation would be because not even in the first generation did the codenames have any special meaning.
Hi Sereno!
I knew with the rise in Ad Astra and The Conspiracy content, it was only a matter of time before I got an ask related to them! Let me organize my answers and get on with them!
For your observation about the Ad Astrans’ powers:
I did notice that!
However, when I first played The Conspiracy, Rozetta's power was the only one that made sense to me, since it's electrokinesis, and, as you said, she's a tech genius! Joe's made sense, too, but not as much as Rozetta's. As for Christian and Julia, I didn't get the references for a long time.
With Christian, I thought ice was weird since he killed Meera with LAVA, so I guess I almost expect fire to be his power. But after realizing his cold-heartedness more clearly, the ice started to fit better.
As for Julia, the poison seemed even more wrong given that her career is in agriculture, you know, GROWING things to sustain life, so her having a deadly gas seemed the complete opposite of her! But again, with her hand in distributing Protozane to Grimsborough via contaminated corn, it becomes a little more understandable, but still the strangest choice in my opinion.
For the other three questions:
A) What would Louis Leroux's power be??
I see invisibility as a good possibility for his power. I know the others have more offensive abilities, so I decided to think of a defensive power for Louis. I also considered telepathy (mainly as a complement to Joe's telekinesis), but invisibility seemed a more fitting choice. I picked it because, as a reporter, Louis is often sneaking around to gather information, sometimes going "incognito" if possible. So, I considered giving him the ability to turn invisible, as it would provide him with a more significant advantage in sneaking around and collecting information.
But another power could be fire manipulation. I saw this once in a fan art, and it was also a suggestion from my friend @asharkapologist. Her logic is that since he's a reporter and during his interview with Rooney, we see that he makes inflammatory remarks to Rooney to try to get a reaction out of him. Additionally, reporters, especially unethical ones like him, often try to fan the flames of polarization and divide in their coverage.
(I take no credit for the fire idea. Side note, I decided on invisibility before that post by @your-local-chaotic-cryptid, wondering what Louis’s power might be, and I promise I was not trying to copy anyone with my answer. All of the suggestions were great, and I enjoyed reading about what others thought Louis would get for a power.)
B) If the new Ad Astra had taken the serum, what would each of their powers be??
Ah, jeeze, I barely remember anything about these guys to begin with, let alone potential powers to match them!😅
It's a good thing I have a friend with a much better memory of The Conspiracy than I do! HUGE shoutout and thank you to @asharkapologist!💖 I take very little credit for these answers, as she was the one who came up with the majority of these powers!💖
(I’m allowed to phone a friend sometimes, let me keep my sanity, please!😭)
Dorothy Kix - Shapeshifting
As seen during “Pain In The Neck,” Dorothy likes to be in control of her appearance and doesn’t appreciate people trying to dictate how she should look. So, it would be fitting that she gains the power to change her appearance at will, from eye colour to body shape and even clothing. She could easily blend in anywhere and hide by changing her appearance like a chameleon.
Azeeb Patel - Healing
Given that Azeeb was the most compassionate Junior Ad Astran who also felt guilt for torturing Kevin Charles, gaining the ability to heal injuries seems sorta fitting. Of course, there would be disadvantages to this power. While healing personal injuries might be easy, healing others could drain Azeeb’s energy, depending on the severity; the worse the injury, the more energy it takes to heal.
Courtney Guerra - Homing (I take credit for this answer)
Okay, so I decided to change Shark’s suggestion for Courtney, which was telekinesis, since that’s Joe’s power, and I wanted to see if I could find something different for her. But, I did take inspiration from Shark’s reasoning, which was that the idea came from Courtney playing paintball and shooting targets at high speeds.
Have you ever read or watched My Hero Academia? If so, you know the character Snipe? His Quirk is what I’m using as inspiration for Courtney’s power. Courtney’s power would be to lock on and hit any target she can see up to a certain distance using any projectile weapon. (But guns would be her primary weapon.)
Lucius Roth - Pain Manipulation
Now, for maybe the most sadistic member of Junior Ad Astra! Due to Lucius’s obsession with torture, he could gain the power to inflict pain on others without causing physical injuries. For instance, he could make it feel like someone just broke their leg without damaging the bone. It could either be done by him touching the person or by telepathic means.
Polly O'Brien - Fire or Illusions (the second one is my idea)
If Louis can't have fire powers, we'll give them to Polly! Honestly, it's mainly because she's a redhead and was a suspect in Louis's murder, aka, a fiery, explosive death via lightbulb!
But I did come up with an alternative power idea! (Yes, this one is of my own creation.) Illusions. During Polly’s arrest in “Lashing Out,” she makes a comment about the police falling for her innocent act, like most people do. This led me to think she could gain the ability to create illusions to trick people and fool them into believing what she wants them to see.
Thanks again, Shark, for letting me steal these ideas! You saved me from a BIG headache!💖🦈💖
C) The canon (In Breaking News) implied that the original Ad Astra didn't care about the new generation of the group, but what about in your universe?? Would Rozetta and the others have any real intention of taking the new quintet on a mission to lead the "flock" as equals??
Ah… I’m gonna need to watch a playthrough of that case before I answer this…😅
K! That’s done, now onto the answer!✨
I don't think the original Ad Astra didn't care about the new generation; rather, they didn't think they were ready to be on the same level as them. After all, Rozetta trusted them to carry out her order to kill Kevin Charles, and if she didn't care about them, I highly doubt she would have even acknowledged their existence! Least of all, let them use the Ad Astra title! So she must have at least thought something good about them, even if it was minimal. As for the other Ad Astrans, if Rozetta thought Jr. AA was good enough to carry the legacy, the others (okay, maybe not Bateman, but it's Bateman, does his opinion really count?) probably approved of them, or at least agreed to let the next generation bear their title. Still, I think OG AA (specifically Rozetta) was testing Jr. AA to see if they could be suitable successors before fully welcoming them as equals.
Overall, I don’t think OG AA saw Jr. AA as equals, at least not yet, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t care about the next generation. I think OG AA viewed the next generation as having the most potential to become their equals one day and may have chosen to hold them back to protect their legacy, as seen when Rozetta and Julia broke out of prison but left Polly (and presumably the other Jr. AA members) behind. Likewise, with Louis choosing to betray Polly in his escape plans, even though she was angry about it, I think he decided to do it to protect her, showing at least some care towards the next generation, since she would have been safer in prison than on the run with OG AA.
OG AA knew they were taking a risk by breaking out of prison and going on the run, especially once Louis was dead. So, I think they left Jr. AA behind, in case anything happened to them, so the next generation would still be alive to continue their mission. After all, as we see in the game, Denise didn’t pursue Jr. AA and instead targeted the original members, thus preserving the legacy of Ad Astra. (At least theoretically.)
Additionally, by OG AA leaving Jr. AA behind, it may have been a tactic to deceive others into thinking they didn’t care about them, so that Denise wouldn’t waste time pursuing them and instead focus her efforts on only hunting down the original members. So they may have at least cared a LITTLE about the next generation, even if it wasn’t to the point of “I’d die to protect you” level of caring.
As for my series, it's honestly too early to say how OG AA feels about Jr. AA beyond what I just stated! I have nowhere NEAR that much planned for S5 since I'm still working on S4. I do have some basic notes for things I want to happen, but I haven't even figured out WHEN those things will happen! I don't have as much planned in advance as you may think I do.😅 Seriously, I'm STILL making changes and coming up with new things for S4!😭
Send help, please…😭
Codenames:
Thank you for not asking me to come up with codenames for the rest of Ad Astra and Junior Ad Astra! My theme may be space, but I’m not in the mood to try and make constellation codenames for all of them! At least not anytime soon!😅
FINALLY! I have answered this ask! I’m so, so SO sorry it took me so long! It was such a brainteaser that I had to pick away at it for WAY too long!😭
Of course, people are welcome to share and add their thoughts on any part of this! Despite my name, I’m no Ad Astra expert (I was Astra first!), so I’d love to hear others’ ideas, especially those who know Ad Astra better than I do!✨
Thank you for the ask, Sereno, and I promise I haven’t forgotten about your other questions in my inbox!
And another BIG THANK YOU to my friend Shark for helping me with this! I couldn't have done it without you!💖🦈💖🦈💖🦈
P.S. Just a weird behind-the-scenes fact I wanted to add. Spellcheck kept wanting to change "Leroux" to "L'Amour" for some unknown reason. Just wanted to add that for fun.

“We recall the inadequacy of "facts" at Jim's trial as well as Conrad's characterization of a man like Chester, who, with no blue guitar, sees things as they are. And elsewhere in Lord Jim Marlow, as storyteller, argues for the higher value of "the truth disclosed in a moment of illusion" as opposed to mere factual truth. Marlow's lie is the ultimate act of renunciation on the part of an ascetic who scorns the created world, and it is the ultimate service to the higher truth beyond creation. The ultimate truth is served by the penultimate lie. An appreciation of this point depends on remembering that the god of light is, to the gnostic view, entirely "other," an alien to the laws governing creation. The gnostics, in fact, inherited the Buddhist notion that creation should be viewed as a dream from which one seeks release. In this spirit Marlow dismisses the "truth" about Kurtz, thus protecting the light of innocence that radiates from his Intended—and thus fulfilling his mission as saviour figure, truly becoming the "kind stranger" of gnostic myth.” - Bruce Henricksen, ‘Heart of Darkness and the Gnostic Myth’

August Movie Review Catch-Up: The Heat Dissipates
August Movie Review Catch-Up: The Heat Dissipates
CREDIT: Warner Bros. Pictures (CREDIT: Screenshot) I saw a bunch of movies in August 2024 that I haven’t released my full thoughts about yet, as it’s been too hot to say too much about any one movie. So I waited until September in the hopes that it would cool down at least a little bit and that I wouldn’t overheat from all this film analysis. Continue reading August Movie Review Catch-Up: The…

It's him, the Seffy Roth... I grew up around a lot of orthodox christianity and you'll pry the imagery out of my cold dead hands I guess lol
