SC Dismisses Plea Seeking Cancellation Of Remaining Class 10 State Board Exams

The Supreme Court, in an urgent hearing on Sunday, dismissed the petition to cancel the remaining two Class 10 exams to be held on June 29-30, which was to be conducted by the Board of Secondary Education of Rajasthan, a lawyer for the state Government of Appeal. A bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and Sanjeev Khanna dismissed a petition filed by Maghi Devi in a hearing held through video conferencing on Sunday evening. Senior advocate Manish Singhvi, appearing for the state government, said that after hearing the petitioner, the bench rejected the state's petition. The apex court was hearing an appeal filed by the Mother Devi of a Class 10 board examiner against the May 29 order of the Rajasthan High Court, In which decline the demand for cancellation of the remaining exams conducted by the state Board of Secondary Education. The appeal stated that Rajasthan's Board of Secondary Education had passed a guideline on 29 June and 30 June to conduct the remaining two Class 10 papers and 11,86,418 students were expected to appear. It stated that the board conducted the final examination on 18 March and after that the examinations were postponed due to the COVID-19 epidemic and the nationwide lockout.
