Preparing for the Future
By Claire Kaster
Photos provided by Mrs. Lisa Blecha
On March 13, some of the sophomores and juniors taking marketing class participate in mock interviews at the Poteet Hall. Many people came from various businesses in Pawnee City to talk to the students about the company and the job. The interviewers gave the students excellent tips and tricks for their future interviews.
When asked about the mock interviews, Anna Meints stated, “I learned that in an interview, you shouldn't be afraid of your weaknesses as long as they aren't brought up continuously. You should also learn what the job looks for, so if you're shy and applying for a consumer service job, don't talk about being shy a lot. Turn your bad traits into good traits. ("I'm introverted so I like to mind my own business.") I liked the way that each interviewer would talk about the pros and cons of working at the job. In the future, I don't see myself working for any of my interviewers, but I did learn a lot about both their jobs and how interviews work.”

The Final Jump
By Abby Coudeyras
Photos provided by Mrs. Cindy Myers
On Saturday, February 18, Mrs. Cindy Myers takes the junior high to Urban Air in Lincoln for her last time. Mrs. Myers has been doing this trip for about five years. “In the past, I have taken kids to Skate Days in Omaha; it is closed now. Prior to that we have done trips to the YMCA, the zoo, and we had a Morp (prom spelled backwards) Dance.”
When asked what their favorite part of the trip was, Elijah Coudeyras replied, “My favorite part was hanging out with friends.” Elijah has been there four times and said he would like to go again.
The eighth graders will be going to Worlds of Fun towards the end of the school year for their promotion to high school.

Trip to the Orchard
By Abby Coudeyras
Photos provided by Mrs. Mitchell and Lauren Moser
On Wednesday, September 7, grades K-2 explore the Arbor Tree Orchard in Nebraska City.
According to Mrs. Mitchell, every year for the past six years, she has taken K-1 students on a field trip, whether it be to an apple orchard or the Roca Berry Farm. This is the first year that they included the second graders.
When arriving at the Orchard, students started their day off by going on a tour and learning how to pick apples. They were also educated on how important bees are. After their tour, they explored the TreeTop Village. The TreeTop Village has 11 treehouses all connected by bridges and also has a trampoline and a 50 ft slide. They also did other fun activities throughout the day such as playing on a giant spider web, zip-lining, using musical instruments and trying to make a pinecone float on a small stream.
