hi cassie i need a new way to make coffee. i'm looking for something low-effort that requires little time to prep and clean up afterwards. quality is low priority next to convenience, i don't live a fast-paced lifestyle i'm just lazy. any recommendations? or should i just buy a drip machine?

Operation Moar Iced Tea underway! I managed to run completely out. 😰

The Clever Dripper with a washable metal filter actually makes a pretty convenient iced tea concentrate brewer, at least with only one person in the house drinking the stuff. Volume is limited to around 500mL, and I've usually been brewing it to dilute 1:1 with water by the glass.

(Or milk of some type, if it's steeped with some chai masala in there. Great tip from one Indian food blogger! I particularly like that with almond milk, or it is great just as straight iced tea.)

(Yeah, our draining board is in serious need of some lime removal, which I haven't gotten around to yet. We're sitting on limestone here, though the water is thankfully nowhere near London liquid chalk levels.)

Just releasing the concentrate into a jar with a little sweetening, to top it up to the 500mL tape line. Then, time to let it come down to room temperature before stashing in the fridge, and let it mellow a few hours before getting some. Turns out way less astringent that way.

My mom always preferred to brew concentrates too, but then she'd dilute it to drinking strength with ice water before it went in the fridge. I was just automatically using that approach too, and it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out that just mixing it up by the glass should work perfectly fine! Saves some of that precious refrigerator door real estate, too.

you ever use the clever dripper? ive had a real pain in the ass of a time trying to get consistently good results out of that

only a couple of times but i like it a lot! the paper filter combined with the immersion factor makes it very similar to an aeropress, though it'll produce slightly lighter and clearer tasting coffee thanks to the lack of pressure and the larger paper filter which will catch more fines.

Are you using a scale and a timer to measure your coffee/water weight? if not I highly recommend doing so to improve consistency.

Elika and Onyx in general make really useful videos for simple dial in recipes without too much nerdy mumbo jumbo if you want a good place to start!

fav fanfiction: EVER? 😱 If we’re talking pure compounded comfort and joy over time, The Student Prince (Merlin/Arthur AU) by FayJay is RIGHT up there honestly. Specifically, on audiobook -- dear god I’ve listened to that so many times and still the story of the relationship is so solid and the writing so enjoyable. Perhaps next up for sheer impact and notability is my dear friend (years after I read this series omg I was so starstruck to be friends with her) is the icarus verse by green_postit (Star Trek, Mirrorverse Kirk/Bones), ft. some of the best fucking titles in the history of fanfic IMO. (icarus in retrospect, the pugilists, skeleton men. FORMATIVE for me as a writer tbh.)

honestly, wrapping it up I’m also a fan of my own fic “You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To” (Steve/Bucky, Steve/Peggy, Wartime) from back in 2014 if I’m honest. I really felt so sated and satisfied when I wrote that fic and shared it, because I wanted so badly to read it I brought it into existence. :) so that brings me a lot of long-term joy, also. 

... wait fuck I wanted to keep this to three but peradii’s “wonderterror” (Star Wars, no ship) is world-endlingly good, ft. Eldritch Luke and Leia, so. gotta sneak that one on too I guess!!!
