So. Ive had this wip for a LONG time but only decided to revisit it AFTER getting back into genshin????

Anyways this is one of my OCs, Cordelia. She's a monster researcher from Fontaine, but lives in Mondstadt and works with their specific branch of it. She has two pet slimes (Slippy and Blob) who would be a part of her playstyle and she's just. A bit unhinged in terms of her love for monsters

(As in - she has actually brought injured hilichurls to the church for healing and tended to wild rifthounds despite that not being in her best interest. She just thinks monsters are Neat.)

Shes also my oldest Genshin OC (and one of the only ones with a formal design rip) and. Shes changed only somewhat since conception??? (At least her general colors and her hat stayed the same???)

Honestly I wanna try getting back into doing things like this and attempting to make "official" looking artwork of my OCs for fandoms. Think itd be fun.

(This is probably going to be my last aspect warrior for the time being; my attention has shifted to my next project, which is four Fiendish Obedience martial classes based on the four chaos gods' special marine troops. If I untangle shining spears by the 7th, I'll post them, otherwise expect a very evil take on the bard!

As for these... they're weird but I really like them. The long and short of it is, in 40k, the design for swooping hawks makes them best used as "Action Monkeys" who do noncombat things. They don't have much else to go on besides "they fly" so that's what I focused the class on. Without further ado, here they are!)

Swooping hawks are aspect warriors that represent the speed and ferocity of Khaine's vengeance, outmaneuvering the enemies of the Asuryani and performing key tactical battle duties with their mobility. Their lightning speed and versatility often see them being the ones to capture valuable items, sabotage backline weaponry, or simply harry enemies from afar with their nimble flight capabilities.

Role: Swooping hawks are aerial support that move with incredible speed and maneuverability. They are skilled at performing noncombat tasks in the midst of combat, often while firing and moving. Alignment: Like most aspect shrines, swooping hawks abhor chaos and so are rarely chaotic. HD: d8

Prerequisites

Race: Must have the Elf subtype  Skills: Acrobatics +5 Feats: Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Asuryani) Abilities: Dex 15 Other: Must be inducted into a swooping hawk shrine.

Skills

A swooping hawk gains 6+Int mod skill ranks per level. A swooping hawk’s class skills are Acrobatics (Dex), Appraise (Int), Disable Device (Dex), Fly (Dex), Perception (Wis), Sleight of Hand (Dex), Stealth (Dex), Survival (Wis), and Use Magic Device (Cha)

Weapon and Armor Proficiencies

A swooping hawk gains no weapon or armor proficiencies.

Wayleaper

All swooping hawks are given a wayleaper, a divine weapon representing the speed of elven gods. This pack is specially crafted for them; all other creatures treat it as having the broken condition, and it If the item already has the broken condition, it does not work at all for anyone else trying to use it. This starting item can only be sold for scrap (it’s worth 4d10 gp when sold). 

Aeronaut

A swooping hawk gains a +4 competence bonus to Fly.

Skystrike (Ex)

A swooping hawk is an expert at aerial combat, a hunter of airborne prey. Her attacks deal additional damage whenever she is flying and her target isn’t. At level 1, this damage is 1d6. At level 3, it becomes 2d6.

Swift Motion (Su)

Twice a day at level 2 and three times a day at level 4, a swooping hawk draws from the reserves of speed and wit within her to multitask, gaining an extra move action on her turn. She cannot use this move action to move, and cannot use this ability more than once per round.

Flyby Attack

At level 3, a swooping hawk gains Flyby Attack as a bonus feat.

Evasion (Ex)

At level 4, a swooping hawk gains evasion as a rogue. If she already has evasion, she instead gains improved evasion, as the rogue talent.

Cloudstrider

At level 5, a swooping hawk becomes an Exarch, a respected and feared member of their aspect shrine who has lost herself to the craft, and is gifted the sacred cloudstrider. This pack is specially crafted for her; all other creatures treat it as having the broken condition, and it If the item already has the broken condition, it does not work at all for anyone else trying to use it. Wayleaper Price: 22,000gp Slot: Shoulders Weight: 12lbs Capacity:100 Usage: 1/round A wayleaper (a word that is also used for one who wields this item) is a miniaturized jetpack supported by a pair of simplistic mechanical wings. These wings do not flap, but provide ornamentation and move to provide maneuverability in midair. A wayleaper can be activated as a swift action, whereupon it grants the wielder a fly speed of 60ft and a maneuverability of Good. Additionally, as long as there is charge in a wayleaper and it is not broken, its user cannot have a maneuverability below Good.  

Cloudstrider Price: 31,000gp Slot: Shoulders Weight: 12lbs Capacity:100 Usage: 1/round A cloudstrider is modified and improved wayleaper; three times per day, the wielder may command it to soar with blinding speed and maneuverability, allowing the wielder to fly between 30 and 60ft as a swift action.

In Cloudstrider, Eva Cloudstrider, a time-traveler who can't remember her past or people, is pulled by the screams of a dying planet. The people there tell her that they can only be helped by one person: a wise woman who looks like Eva, but is has wrapped herself in a cocoon of spacetime. Eva goes on a little side quest to find and save her, gathering starfruit and the blood of a new born star, and while the woman cannot save the planet, she tells Eva about her past. About who the Cloudstriders are. Who her real parents are.

Tbh one thing I really like abt Destiny is that physical augmentation and change involving cybernetics isn’t portrayed as evil or against nature (specifically with the Eliksni and Cloudstriders). Sure there are people who would try and use the change from flesh to machine as a way to control people, like Clovis Bray, but Exos grew and changed and made their own fate.

Idk. Maybe I’m just too transgender but im so glad that Destiny is kind to people who want to physically change their bodies.

thoughts and feelings on Neomuna and the Cloudstriders?

it's been a minute since i ran lightfall so i went back through ishtar to read up and here's what i've got: I think they mirror the guardians in a really interesting way. While being granted the light is functionally random and not something the lightbearer in question has a say in (as they're usually dead), becoming a cloudstrider is an entirely voluntary process (with perhaps the exception of the first cloudstrider, who acquired her abilities accidentally). There's also mentions of cloustriders being vetted, meaning that the decision to become a cloudstrider is not purely up to the individual but rather the community, which is interesting when placed in contrast to how ghosts just kind of.. pick a corpse based on vibes and hope things turn out ok. Also the whole "ten years and then your body rapidly decays around you" thing versus being able to die ad infinitum (assuming nothing happens to your ghost). Also cloudstriders on their own are fascinating too. Deliberately sacrificing not only your life but, to an extent, your ability to be and act like a person is wild. From the Cloud Strider Legacies lorebook:

"You don't die after ten years. You die the second you gulp your first breath with those new nanite-enhanced lungs. You don't get to be human anymore. Not with this kind of power. You don't get foibles or fears or wants. You're an ideal.

You need to be the best things about this city—the kindness, the empathy, the courage—and you give up the luxury of weakness."

(also not to get back on the comparison train but the whole thing about becoming a cloudstrider being a death in and of itself versus resurrection being the first memory a guardian has.) Also I like Nimbus, and I hope we'll be able to give them cookies next dawning.
