So excited for the day that game developers collectively realize that no one actually gives a fuck about the hyper-realistic raytraced lighting and other graphical advancements if it means we have to wait for the game to "optimize shaders" every time we launch it

#my words #yes this is about Avowed #but lots of games are doing it #surely they've got to be at diminishing returns by now #how much more realistic can we make the graphics???#and who even wants them to be hyperrealistic?#every game I've ever played that I truly loved and stuck with me #has been the most stylized cartoony shit #but we've just decided I guess that what makes a game Look Good is a very specific design aesthetic #ooooh look how the rain shines on the cobblestones #look how the shadows change dynamically over the course of an in-game day #I COULD NOT GIVE A FUCK LESS #if your game isn't good no amount of lightning will fix that #and if the game IS good it isn't because of the graphics so I still don't fucking care

Had a weird dream that involved many things, but importantly I was ace mcshane for a good bit of it

#idk I was skipping school for reasons but I was still sort of at school just not going #and it was also sort of my high school but not really #the chem professor from my college was there and I was specifically skipping his class and I had to run past him in the hallway and that was #awkward there was also my high schools French teacher what may have been a dinosaur and a few people I used to go to school with who I #haven’t actually seen in years also my best friend was there #the whole first half of the dream was me trying to get to this cafe that sold a pastry I wanted and skipping class because of it #and I was running there for some reason and it was vaguely raining out and in the morning #then I was on a road with a lot of traffic #and maybe rocks #then I was ace and the seventh doctor was there and we were doing typical seven and ace stuff #and this was happening on a like cobblestone/brick road/bridge thing with a big creek to one side #and I was in the creek at some point #then I was mad at the doctor because either he was going to go do something or he wanted me to do something here and was going to leave me #for a bit because of that #then I was in my room but it was kind of different there was a clothing rack on my ceiling? and it had a bunch of things but specifically #this brown/beige shirt with the tumble logo on it and like a tan jacket and I think I was supposed to wear the shirt and wanted to wear the #jacket but decided I couldn’t wear that much brown then put the shirt back #there was also an interesting section of the dream that turned into a sort of interview about the making of the episode that I as Ace had #just been in and the guy talking was Marc platt despite the fact that I have no idea what that guy looks or sounds like #and there was a bit about bedazzled pink wolf/dog ears that ace was going to have worn for some reason towards the end of the episode but #didn’t and the lady who designed them was annoyed by that but said she’d worn them herself and also that her dog had kept trying to chew on #them while she was making them #j rambles
