So about Cold Case. We all agree that this show takes place in a world where ghosts are just so everyday normal that they're just a part of life and not worth commenting on, right?

Like. I know it's meant to portray closure and bringing justice to the victims and all of that, but just... when you have the detectives and the loved ones locking eyes with the spirits of the dead every single time. Just. They're ghosts. We all agree they're ghosts, right?

I watched Athena Begins for the first time on Friday, and it just hit me why so many people consider it their favourite “Begins” episode.

This is an episode of Cold Case! (If you don’t know what that is, it was a CBS procedural that ran from 2003 to 2010 and Tracie Thoms -Karen, Hen’s wife- was part of the main cast. Do yourself a favor a favor and watch it).

It’s not a 1:1 recreation, but spiritually it’s there. The 30-year-old-murder that goes hot again because they found the gun, the look into the human aspect of the deceased and the subject closest to him (Athena), the 🔥 🔥 🔥 soundtrack, the talking to people who had nothing to do with the case, the dead end, the looking through tons of archives, the close person (Athena again) feeling guilty for the victim’s death only to find out she had literally nothing to do with it; finding out the murderer decades later living a mundane life (even a virtuous one, in this case), a confession that’s more a reminiscence than an interrogation, giving closure to Emmett’s mom, the slo-mo sequence of the murderer being walked through the police station while all the cops stood by the sides, the picture of Emmett in lieu of Emmett’s ghost appearing and saying goodbye to Athena and the salt-and-pepper detective. The only thing missing was the salt-and-pepper detective bringing Emmett’s case file into the warehouse at the end.

I wonder if there’s anyone from Cold Case, besides Tracie, involved with the show, because it was 10/10.

Set 15 years after the original series’ final episode, the untitled Cold Case reboot would follow a new team of tenacious detectives who investigate cold cases across the Southwest. This is a new location as the original Cold Case was set in Philadelphia. The move would allow the potential new series to introduce a new group of characters as they tackle unsolved homicides. ......... No talent is currently attached to the reboot though I hear Pino has had informal conversations to reprise his fan favorite character Det. Scotty Valens, possibly in a significant way. I hear Morris has not been approached about the reboot but is aware of it and could potentially appear in some (likely limited) capacity to provide additional continuity, having led the original series for seven seasons.

the ending have the flashbacks to younger versions of everyone involved in a case.

more queer couples stories; bittersweet, sweet, sad, bitter. Give us ALL the variations, make them meaningful and matter. Just like the original.

It's from 2005 I've been rewatching it

Anyways they solve cold cases amd every episode is a different case based on a different era.

Anyway. An interesting crossover idea. Would be cold case and stranger things crossover.

It's byler focused from here on out.

What if the government just keeps will dead, and its a town secret type of thing.

Then the cold case investigation team opens Will Byers case.

They backtrack everything from the dnd game to his school life to his home life amd his dad and can't figure out how he died or disappeared but come to the conclusion that everyone knows will was close with Mike and slowly they piece together their relationship. One of the detectives figure out that Will liked Mike and maybe Mike liked will back. With how determined Mike was to find will alive. They interview people who were at the scene when they found Will and school mates of how will and Mike were together compared to how they were with their friends

And the soundtrack would be Wills favorite songs and by the end they figure out that will isn't dead. They don't uncover any paranormal stuff but while interviewing Mike who's talking like will is gone they meet his boyfriend. And slowly the team puts two and two together that will is Mike's boyfriend they close the case as solved at that Will died by mysterious circumstances. Knowing full well that he's alive and happy with Mike. While his family already knows and the town already forgot about it.

It's a concept but I don't know how or if I could write it myself

A show once unavailable now finally available to stream

Status Post #10951: It's none other than Cold Case since the reason why the show was unavailable on home media and streaming until 2021 though still airing on TV, most notably Sky Atlantic is due to each episode using songs by well known artists that licencing rights for said music was too expensive to be cleared for a possible DVD release. It's currently available to stream on Max in the US and Amazon Prime Video overseas including the UK as I saw the show recently and finished it after 16 days as in October 3-18.

CBS News has obtained a list of 365 federal grant programs halted this week by the Justice Department, disrupting programs to help victims of hate crime and sex trafficking, children who've suffered violence, and refugees.

The department also paused programs aimed at reducing school shootings, efforts to combat domestic terror and an Emmett Till cold case initiative in the Southeast.

At least some of the grants were halted in memos sent Tuesday to nonprofit organizations by the Justice Department. The memos alerted program operators that the projects no longer "effectuate" Justice Department priorities. The cancellation of the federal grants caused disruptions at some nonprofit programs, according to organization leaders who spoke with CBS News.

The head of a nonprofit that helps youth crime victims in Oakland, California, called the funding freeze a "devastating blow."

Nancy Smith told CBS News she made plans to lay off 10 employees from her national "Activating Change" nonprofit, which helps provide sign language interpreters and legal aid to crime victims with disabilities and hearing impairments. Smith said 40% of her budget disappeared overnight.
