Misty shading practice, seagull bomber, 2 unimpressed shirobons, and dolphin bomber making a pipe bomb. All of them so low resolution you can stick your fingers between the pixels.

The song is "Ocean Planet Aquanet" from the game 'Bomberman 64: The Second Attack', a 1999 action game developed and published by Hudson Soft (JP) / Vatical (NA). Released on Nintendo 64.
youtube
The game had an interesting mechanic where your sidekick character Pommy would evolve into various forms depending on how much of a certain type of food was given to him.

[Review] Bomberman '94 (PC Engine)
It's Bomberman... but he's in 1994! [Released in 1993.]
My retro game club is covering this game this month, and for once I managed to play through the pick… it helps that it's short. Just another instalment in Hudson's long-running Bomberman series, '94 didn't leave Japan in its PC Engine configuration, although the Mega Drive conversion did. There were graphical sacrifices though, so the original release is the best way to play and the only language barrier is some menus and world names.
The story mode introduces Bagura who becomes a recurring nemesis for Shirobon and pals, but here he's just some guy from space. Planet Bomber gets split into five chunks which act as the worlds you must battle through in order to restore things to normal and (presumably) rescue the other coloured bombers who are shown on the map screen.
Now I'm no Bomberman expert so I can't really say what's new or what's getting old at this stage of the series. The levels are complex mazes with world-dependent gimmicks, colourful tilesets, and crawling with enemies. I wasn't a big fan of the stages covering more than a screen, requiring scrolling around to see what's going on, but it does let them make more interesting layouts. The enemies all have particular behaviours and abilities, some of which are obnoxious to deal with like passing through soft blocks or taking multiple hits to defeat.
The difficulty level is quite high especially later in the campaign, and I would have got really ticked off if I hadn't used rewinds as much as I did. A single hit, whether from enemies or your own carelessly placed bombs, is enough to reset your special powerups (kick, walk-through bombs, the particularly game-changing remote detonation, etc.) but you do keep your bomb count and explosion size until a game over, and as far as I could tell continues were unlimited and didn't set you back too far. The bosses are a huge difficulty spike as well, albeit impressively large and with fun designs.
I do know that the big new addition for this game is Louie. Clearly cribbing from Super Mario World, Louie is a large kangaroo that your Bomber can ride, whose colour gives them different abilities. Also they hatch from an egg, obvious much? Green is the default and can dash, purple can jump over obstacles, etc. The best is the pink one whose ability is to do an adorable little dance. That's it. It's totally worth it! They do also have the benefit of taking a hit for you, letting you survive longer with your own hard-won powers intact. Since they are randomly found like all powerups, you can go a long time without seeing them; in my whole [tool-assisted] playthrough I only ever got four Louies and three of them were yellow! If you manage to keep one through the gruelling three-phase final boss you get an extra little heartbreaking scene at the end too. They're a good addition to the series and provide a fun little buddy dynamic along with their gameplay usefulness, so I'm all for them.
Of course a big part of the series is the multiplayer arena battles… I didn't touch that part of the game. Sorry! Bomberman already isn't my favourite thing and the PVP even less so. I'm glad I got to see an important step in the franchise with this one but it's a very punishing experience that often had me feeling powerless and not in control, as the enemies blundered around into me and I got caught in my own blasts. More practice would help hone my skills, but for now I'm just happy I got to ride Louie a few times and spend a little time in Hudson's colourful and cartoony world, it wasn't a million miles away from my beloved BC Kid which they're also involved with.

WHAT THE HELL EVEN ARE BOMBERMEN? (AN IN-DEPTH REIMAGINE AU LOOK INTO BOMBERMAN ANATOMY)
ridiculously long text dump incoming but i figured i'd finally go over some more technical stuff about the au. ive seen other people talk about their headcanons for how the bombermen work in-game and got a bit inspired since ive mostly been going over lore with my comics!
SO, WHAT ARE BOMBERMEN? true to most of the games, they are still robots in the au! entirely mechanical with no organic components. the vast majority of them originate from the former planet earth, now called planet bomber, but some models have been integrated into different planets (planet scrapheap for example) for specific jobs.
all bombermen come from "the original", Shiro, who was built by evil forces lurking underground on planet earth before it was renamed planet bomber. during his tenure as a reluctant minion of evil, his purpose was to create bombs for their efforts of subjugating the remnants of humanity on earth.
prior to his escape from the clutches of the evil forces, he looked very much like how he is depicted in the games!
WHY DO THEY LOOK LIKE HUMANS NOW? in the original NES bomberman game, the plot revolves around bomberman's escape to the surface under the belief that he will become human. the AU follows this premise, but more literally: although Shiro doesn't actually become an organic human, he is rebuilt to resemble their appearance more faithfully! thus, all bombermen that come after him retain that human-like appearance.
this applies to the human experience as well. they can cry, taste food, live like humans even though they are artificial. they're aware of the fact that they aren't human, mind, but the line is very thin for some! Shiro goes so far as to say that he's just as human as any organic one because of his free will and his ability TO desire to be human. but most are pretty normal about it.
BASIC ANATOMY STRUCTURE bombermen possess an internal structure intentionally designed similar to that of humans. their endoskeleton is practically 1:1 of a human skeleton, the only difference being that it's obviously metal. they possess significantly less "organs", with most of their computer components centralized in a single case located where a human heart would be. their central processing unit and memory cards are located inside of the skull, reinforced by pure steel to prevent any potential internalized damage. while ripping off the outer layer of skin takes about as much effort as it would to a human, you'll be hard-pressed to actually penetrate their head/skull. pain receptors are probably the most complex and delicate in terms of structure, essentially microscopic detectors found across the body like nerves. the part of the processing unit that recognizes the feeling of pain can be manually turned off if needed, but is usually left on so that the individual is aware of damage or something malfunctioning.
all bombermen have an antenna attached to their left ear. this is used for communication with others across distance, and is also used to monitor their surroundings! it can pick up movement, energy, and other various things. it's one of their trademark identifiers, and can also be used as a sort of ID for other bombermen, so its very important to them! to remove their atenna is like declawing a cat.
don't.
like most computers, their capability of information storage is limited. although usually equipped with multiple memory cards, many bombermen elect to move data/memories they don't need all of the time onto items like USB drives so they don't need to outright delete things. their sleeping routines are the most effective way for them to undergo defragmentation.
with resources on earth having been very scarce, bombermen are equipped to run on multiple kinds of energy. like most computers, electrical energy is the most common and widely used, but their synthetic skin is capable of taking in solar energy and a furnace "stomach" can transform eaten foods into chemical energy - think of the latter as burning coal to fuel a locomotive. the one thing they DON'T use however is oil. its seen as very volatile source of energy because it's not renewable. this means they don't bleed! there's no need for them to have any liquid circulation, so replacing parts is also easier in that regard since there's no fear of losing any potential lifeforce.
ASIMOV? WHO'S THAT?? they do not follow the three laws. they are completely independent. most bombermen lean towards being good-natured (if not with their own quirks), so murder of organics/destruction of their own kind is HIGHLY taboo. this doesn't mean they're incapable of making that decision, though.
WHO BUILDS THEM? this answer is a little more complex. early in the timeline, the only way to make a bomberman was to build one yourself. this was especially apparent during earth's final years before being renamed, as most of humanity had abandoned the planet after the evil forces were reawakened decades prior. as such, bombermen were short in number because the few remaining humans that were technologically competent were the only ones capable of making them.
however, ALL bombermen are capable of recreating their own kind. this was information originally given to Shiro by the evil forces so that, for whatever reason, it would be instinct for him to prevent the extinction of his own existence. when more bombermen began to populate the planet, they started to do the creation themselves since they knew everything they needed in order to accomplish it. this is where familial relationships become possible! many bombermen who create their own kind view their creation as siblings or children, and this carries over further into the timeline even when a mother computer meant to mass produce models comes into existence.
WHAT'S IN A TITLE? "Bomberman" is both a species and a title. while most common bots will refer to themselves as "a bomberman", very few have the privilege of being called Bomberman. this name is reserved for particularly outstanding individuals who are responsible for the protection of planet bomber, meaning only a few of them exist across the timeline.
so far these include Shiro (the original), Ivory (Shiro's brother and the protagonist for most of the games that take place on Planet Bomber), and White (the sbr iteration - his siblings get privileges by association but since he's the only cracker white bomberman of the group he gets the official title). depending on how development of the timeline goes there might be more...
WHAT THE HELL ARE PSEUDO BOMBERMEN? I actually addressed this question on my twitter with a funny little comic but i'll go a little further in-depth with the discussion here.
as the name implies, these aren't considered to be "real" ones for various kinds of reasons. bombermen become very popular to imitate due to how (in)famous Shiro becomes across space, but building a robot might not exactly be conventional for some people. this is where pseudo bombermen come in. anything from bomber-cyborgs, organically made bombermen, etc are all considered pseudo bombermen. the general rule of thumb is if it isn't a robot, it's a pseudo.
notable pseudo-bombers would be Max (cyborg), Shirobon from Jetters (alien), and the Bomber Shittenou (made from elements).
ARE YOU GOING TO ADDRESS THAT LINE FROM YELLOW IN SBR2 sure they can have cock and balls why not. full human experience or something.
well that was long as fuck!! thanks for reading!!! if there are any questions feel free to leave them in my inbox and ill be sure to respond to them :)

what fandoms can you draw for?
hi I draw for several fandoms, some I'm not even in, I could make a list but it would be unnecessarily long and complex, so I'll make a simple one of the fandoms I usually draw/consume:

Have you watched Bakugaiden before? It's the silly marble version of bomberman (curious about your thoughts of it)
Never had enough of an interest, have heard of it... Actually i learned about it around the same time as jetters! Not quite a high priority watch ykno? Definitely taking my time to get to it.
PLUS Jetters set my standards REALLY high for bomberman anime and i know it cant really compete with such a complex exploration of greif

Arcade game research
im gonna play 5 aracde games to test them out to see what i want with my aracde game
i first played street fighter 2 hyper the one thing from the get go is the color pallete with all bright colors and a wide spread selecetion of character with you being able to pick slow fights or fast paced fights also with added difficulty the combat felt quick even on slow and you can get stun locked very easily this made fights feel weird and unfair at times still fun none the less
i next played bomberman which was a fun game and a strategic one you have to place bombs at the right time to destroy enemies and you need to do the same to clear dbris what i lik about this game is the simple nature of it and the power ups you you being able to get speed boosts and more powerful bombs with you also freeing villagers that will aid you on the stage they are free
my next game is jojos bizarre adventure this game is an japanese import the game has a mode select which is cool
the combat is very like street fighter withy complex combos and every character having there own unique style with there stands which in the manga is practically there superpower
the story mode is very detailed and goes over the story of part 3 stardust crusaders its very detailed and a good 1to1 showing in vieo game form
the game has a booming style and atmosphere with accurate character designs i do think some characters are better than others which will make you wanna play as that one over the other overall a great game

Randomness In Games
Randomness in game is where the player has no choice over what happens and a combination of things could be different every time. The point of making this is to keep the player entertained and making the game fun every time, not knowing how the game is going to play out.
One game that uses randomization every time that you hit the play button is world of tanks every time that you hit the play Battle button you get put one of the 33 different maps, and each maps has a choice of 3 different game modes.
Another part of world of tanks that's random is the way that the accuracy works and the way that the player deals damage to people and the amount of damage they do. The game uses a random number generator to determine accuracy and the damage dealt to the enemy.
Fortnite has a bit if a randomized loot pool where the player has no idea what loot they are going to find and what items of use they are going to find.
Flabby bird uses randomness as to where the next gap is going to be to keep the player concentrating on making the right adjustments to keep the game going and the score factor making the game fun and addictive.
Super Hot uses randomization of there endless mode to determine where all the AI spawn and how many of them spawn, they either come few at a time or they come in many at a time and it's also random what they spawn with like guns or melee weapons.
Battle bit remastered has element of randomness to it as the game as the map develops more as the game get longer because people have randomly destroyed buildings, and turned the map into a warzone.
Minecraft has a lot of randomness to it where the player has no idea what seed they have unless they have picked it out what seed they have, the game also has randomly generated loot in chest where you could get the best items in the game or some of the worst.
GTA is very random as no online lobby is ever the same like one can have a couple of people in and another one can have up to 30 people the car spawns are all random but some spawn more than others but you can never guarantee a spawn.
Bomberman Tournament uses randomness as the player can get 10 different random items to allow the player to complete the game and effectiveness is also random on these items adding another layer of complexity. The randomness does'nt just effect the items it also effects the player as it also effects the amount of the items the player can hold.

dont mind me as i fandompost abt an obscure anime from 2002
i wondered a few times how old mighty bomber was supposed to be. i figured like... teenager to very young adult but nonspecific.
but the further into the series i got, the more i was like “ok he’s definitely 17. thats the most 17 year old character ive ever seen.” and i was freaking right. i didnt even know they had canon ages but they do and i was right hgfkgfhg
#overdramatic martyr complex having little dummy. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!!!! PEOPLE LOVE YOU#oop too late... but still#bomberman jetters

I actually hadn't thought of making Bomberman fankids, but I don't see why not, so...!
(A lil doodle of what I thought she might look like).
I think their kid would probably be a lot like Phantom- extra, and way too confident in her own abilities. But she also has Plasma's strong sense of justice, which gives her a huge hero complex. You know, the type of person who rushes to any situation with full confidence that they can resolve it without thinking about it. Thankfully, she has enough battle prowess from both her parents to usually deal with whatever comes up, but it does sometimes land her in trouble.
Also, I think she'd be more than a bit spoiled. Phantom would definitely be the type to always teach her everything he knows and praising her intelligence, giving her a big ego. And Plasma loves kids, so I think he'd be way softer than he needs to be with her. She'd definitely be a hard-headed woman, lol.
As for her name... Maybe Crystal Bomber?
#super bomberman r#bomberman#fankid#fanchild#does this ship have a name#phantomplasma#good enough#idk why I thought they'd have a girl. they seem like girls dads
