Lurien Altemoss (KoD AU)

Welp. Here's another if the dreamers, this time Lurien. (Btw I edited this so it would show his age)

I made a extreme change to his design, which may or may not make some ppl mad (But this is a au design & it's my design, or well concept design). Infact I think alot of ppl might not even consider this as "Lurien". But then again it's kinda a silly thing + in canon he doenst rlly look like a bug, imo.

This version of Lurien is a Ozznok, descendants of a now extinct race of Humanoid creatures. He was actually from the surface, but was adopted by 2 bugs from Hallownest. He was the founder of the City of Tears, a semi-modern ish city built under a huge blue lake, in which he watches over now. In KoD, he's kinda rich (but not too rich, bcs he isn't a royal, but ig his adoptive parents were nobles in the pale court), he wears fancy looking clothes, however these clothes are dark in color. He is quite silent, only talking to ppl he trusts (like his Butler) or needing to. If there's one thing he doesn't truly talk about is how he became blind in his right eye or why he even covers it. When the infection came into existence, he became reclusive, but only out of orders of the pale king (as he was loyal to him). This reclusitivity didn't last long though, as he eventually became one of the 3 dreamers, a seal to hopefully not allow the infection to spread any longer, but before, he reassured his butler that he was gonna wake up after the infection was over (Unfortunately that never happened..). As a dreamer, his form is quite similar to the original sprite, having no visible features other than some black body, & one single blank eye. When he woke up after the extremely long slumber, he found out the place he founded was now in ruins, & his butler... was pretty much ded now.. (Not due to the infection, but due to being smushed). Going under a extreme & utter state of despair since that was the person (Well bug) he cared for the most... He now wanders aimlessly in the ruins of Hallownest, searching for meaning... Maybe even going up onto the surface... the place he was born in.

(All of this is my own lore btw, as there's nothing about about Lurien other than he was one of the dreamers & he has a butler who is left unnamed, but if I were to give his butler a name, it prob be.... Yiiren.)

Meet Sydney, my dragon sona!

I've been working on this design for a few weeks and can finally show her to the world 💛

Sydney is a young adult dragoness who has a gentle, yet energetic and unstoppable nature!

Her design was mainly inspired by The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon (2008), one of my most favorite childhood games

I really enjoy dragon designs from there, so I tried to make Sydney’s anatomy and body proportions look like Spyro and Cynder’s.

This is why I also might call Sydney my “Spyro sona”

Another big inspiration for Sydney was Rhael the dragon designed by my friend!

I had the idea to make my own dragon oc for quite a while, but couldn’t get my hands on it. And after I saw Rhael I’ve got a massive influx of inspo and immediately started working on her :D

Another fun fact - Sydney was planned to be designed as a dragon version of Cat (my persona). But when I started working on her, I realized that Cat’s design looked too simple for a dragon, so I decided to make Sydney a separate character:

They, in fact, still have very similar personality traits! Except maybe.. Sydney is a little bit more “soft” ;D

Queen Herrah (KoD AU)

(Spoilers for hk & spider/arachnophobia warning)

The last of the 3 dreamers, Mama Herrah herself (sounds a bit like Hera from Greek mythology, very unsure if that was intentional by the devs or not.)

Might draw the main cast afterwards (or well the 4 characters that are iconic when it comes to hk. & by hk i mean the original not my au's storyline itself.) Also yes I did a extreme change to Herrah's design bcs in Canon she kinda looks... idk kinda weird to me. So yeh overhaul on her design for my AU, KoD. Also if you know what the beast part in her species is, well... In my hk universe, the term "beast" is used for any sentient creature who walk on more than 2 legs but are sapient & have language. (Doesn't technically be humanoid, but are mostly humanoid)

So uh... yeh... This version of Herrah is extremely huge, like very huge, & much of most of Deepnest, she wears a mask (which is also, apparently, her dreamer mask) this is a form of mimicry to hopefully catch their unsuspecting prey. Many many years before the infection, she had a partner, who was apart of the honored caste that existed in Deepnest (whom in my universe were also hella cannibalistic to please the spider tribe), at a certain point, her partner pretty much got consumed by his fellow caste members, leaving her w/o a heir. Despite her being well... a common beast to the normal bug, she had power over the spider clan & most of Deepnest herself, & very much against the Pale King & his followers. However when the infection came about, she was asked by the Plae King to become a dreamer, at first declining as she very much doesn't want to associate with him, but realizing if she dies from the infection, there wouldn't be a heir to take her place, so she eventually accepted, but only bcs she wanted to have abheir, specifically a duaghter. In short 2 heirs were born (Yes 2), one was the particular Hornet, the other? Her name was Weirette. After this Herrah went into deep sleep, now leaving the 2 girls w/o a mother to take care of them. (As hornet was taken away to be raised by her dad & Weirette... no one knows what happened to Weirette...) After the seal was broken & she woke up from her long slumber, her mask became broken as well (aka her disguise), but even though deepnest was still the same, everything she knew was never the same... So she in turned decimated anyone whom is confirmed to be infected or looks infected. She still possibly lives in the semi-vacant place she calls home. (Btw this version of Herrah is not rlly much of a speaker, & by speaker I mean she doesn't speak in "common" or not very well verse in it, she mainly speaks in clicks & hisses)

(This is all my lore, as the only lore there was stated is her being the mother of Hornet, she's one of the 3 dreamers, & she's the queen of the Spider Tribe in deepnest. Also I did make her species a black widow bcs I thought it make sense for her to be one. I've actually drawn Herrah before but that old version is well.. old now & does not belong into KoD anymore. Btw Weirette is a future OC of mine.)

I've been working for weeks on this updated ref sheet for Hildegarda - I wanted her to have a new look for the post main game/post DLC plot. Basically, after striking an accord with Messmer and dealing with Miquella and Radahn together, she goes back to Lands Between to claim lordship and usher the Age of Stars. Ranni brings the Shadow Lands back to Lands Between and 3 of them have funny shenanigans that include slaying gods, burning down Caelid and Haligtree, learning emotional intimacy of forming a bond. The latter one is the most difficult task because all 3 of them are wary of trusting someone else, but somehow their alliance works. Hilde is the glue that keeps them all together, because her patience and compassion know no limits.

Hildegarda's weapons broke upon slaying Miquella and Elden Beast, so she forged new ones/altered the ones she found or got as gifts. I had lots of fun altering in game weapons and mixing together different armour sets to find something that works for her, and I'm very happy about the result. I was afraid of adding intense red to her colour scheme, because Hilde is all about cold colours, but I think this burgundy works quite well. My friend also noted that it's cool that this colour isn't the same as Messmer's scarlet - they're devoted to each other, and Hilde is loyal to him, but also doesn't lose herself in this union, and she managed to create something new from herself.

As for her weapons, the essence of Hilde's fighting style remains the same. The staff can be combined with the sword to form a magical Halo Scythe (now it's infused with cold magic) and one of the swords is imbued with Messmer's shadowy flame. The Star-Lined katana that I use in the game is now a light greatsword (Carian Sorcery sword (the one that fot imbued with messmerflame) is now a light greatsword too instead of the thrusting sword we see in the game) because I feel like their theatrical and dance like moveset suits Hildegarda more.
