Swooping onto the track, Golden Eagle is the biggest and meanest of the Champion Engines. He’s the most vocal and angry and violent. He races with Joule in heat 2 and gets into a scuffle with Green Arrow, where he BODIES Green Arrow, then gets mad and throws a hissy fit when Control disqualifies him. Later when the Champion Engines all come out as a group, he tries picking up where he left off the moment he sees Green Arrow, and the other engines have to intervene. This guy, I swear. He needs herbal tea. Or maybe some weed.

The child with the toy trains and a dream. Control is your typical little kid who loves to stay up late playing with their toys and hates sappy stuff like adults having crushes on one another. They like to boss around the trains and have a little scooter they get around the stage with. 

Despite their bossiness, they do have times when they sympathise with Rusty, acknowledging him after heat 1 and sitting with him after the aborted final race when Rusty is in despair. When a twinkle descends from the heavens, they react with gentle curiosity and cradle it in their hand, which lets Rusty know the sparkles are safe and beautiful things to be admired. When they and Rusty shout “Starlight Express!”, in great excitement, Control just starts legging it around the stage, through the walkways, around the back, just a full pelt of excitement. Kind of reminds me of the zoomies dogs get.

This is a very silly fic I've been playing around with for awhile, but I've had way more fun with it than I should.

The director stared at the other woman through the glass. She looked like she’d wandered in from a Renaissance fair gone fantasy, or a really cheesy new Witcher-knockoff movie set, except even an HBO-quality makeup team would have struggled to keep that skintone’s makeup in place without an airbrush booth ten steps away. She felt the makings of a migraine. “You come from… where, exactly, you said?” “Originally?” The accent was generally “somewhere British,” but with an unusual clip to it, a crispness that sounded more like something out of a “period-appropriate Shakespearean accent” bit than a real manner of speaking. “The Underdark. It’s…” Oh, now, that wasn’t what she wanted to hear at all. “Let me guess,” she said. “Somewhere that’s dark, and underground?” “Well… yes, but…” “Not underwater, right?” “I… technically? Parts of it must be.” Shit, shit shit. “You didn’t come from Bright Falls, did you?”
