Little flat lay video of one of my recent makes. Im wondering if there are any interactive/class type things I can do with the use of facebook/instagram live whilst we are lock down. The Pattern Drafting process is math, art and experience. Not all Fashion Designers are also expert Pattern Drafters, but I am! These three pieces make up the back half of a custom corset I’ve been working on. Recently I’ve had some inquiries about my Fashion Design and Pattern Drafting process. Custom Fashion is the full fledged Fashion Design service I offer and it books out very far in advance, I even have Clients lined up for 2024! The way to create any fashion item is to communicate desires, decide on a design, source materials, define measurements, drape the design, draft the pattern, stitch a prototype, fit the prototype, make pattern adjustments, stitch a sample, fit the sample, make pattern adjustments (as many samples as it takes to get the perfect fit and style can repeat these steps - I sometimes make a dress 5 times before the final cut), cut the final fabric and create the garment for final fitting and any finishing touches. This is a very involved process and can take 4 to 12 months. An exceptional pattern makes it all work. It can be a source of frustration at times, but the challenge of creating excellent fitting garments for unique bodies requires precision Pattern Drafting and I do love a good fashion challenge!
