“The Smiling Idiot” & “Change the Channel”. Inktober 2019 Day 30 & 31. Cruel and malicious, the Smiling Idiot will sing a song of oil and grime. Adorning her travesty with praise for all to see. With bated breath, she waits for the adulation and applause. The crowd is silent. Her smile stays plastered in place, draped in her mistake. The worms that fill her black heart whisper words with needles, that YOU must have turned them against her. Her wrath will be unfettered and her cruelty will resume once more without remorse. You try to change the channel. ....but you notice.....the TV was never plugged in. These were the last two images from my series last year that I never posted. The TV one I started but never finished, the other one was much harder to post and decided that it was for me to keep. I changed my mind. As a reminder to never let the cruelty of others hold you back and keep you from remembering that you matter. That you have worth. So change the channel and never look back. Also, I’d ordered my celebration red Inktober pin over a year ago. I never felt that I’d earned it. But now I do and it’s a great feeling. I hope you like it. “Just A Wrist”. Inktober Day 28. Change the Channel. . Song, “Black Sheep” by Metric. This piece took a lot longer than I expected it to. I think the only reason is that I’m ready to be through with this series. My reason for creating these illustrations was to help me work through some things that I’ve kept inside for a bit. Around the middle of the month, I had a break through. Emotionally. I’m in a better frame of mind now. Taking the chance to personify my feelings into something I could see, showed me what was under the rock. And now? What once burned like acid in my brain.....doesn’t anymore. It’s still there, but now it just doesn’t have a hold on me. Still more to come, the month isn’t finished yet and I have more to say.
