X86 is a shitass disgusting architecture change my mind
The only reason it stuck around was because ibm decided it for the IBM PC and risc based things were barely being designed and later were mostly only for workstations. That and Intel has hella marketing and rnd (no hate on that)
Like do you want one instruction that tell you to do 4 different thing? NO I WANT 4 LITTLE ITTY BITTY BITES OF INSTRUCTION DATA LIKE ITS BUILDING AN IKEA SHELF. Do you want more silicon usage and therefor more temperature? HELL NAHHH LET ME HAVE CHEAP EFFICIENT THINKERS IN DESKTOP FORM
All in all I’m really happy arm (and risc-v by extension) desktops are slowly coming back to consumers and I want more competition in this market area

having a day where i just want to give up on literally everything
#i dont want to read about grammar anymore. its boring as fuck and trying to understand how to form a proper sentence#just leads me down this endless void of accusatives and datives and infinitives and transitives and participates and particles and#i come out of it feeling like i learned nothing helpful. and like i have to study this entire other area of stuff#just to even have the *potential* to learn how not to sound like an idiot when i form sentences#i dont want to constantly look up the 73 conjugates every verb has either (and then not be able to find the correct one because i#need to have a master's degree in grammar to understand which one to use!)#I'm also dead tired of this circuits course. All it's done is put some sense into me and convinced me to revert back to my focus on digital#signal processing. I'm no long having any fun with this. I'm also tired of my digital logic class because I'm not interested in building#a new CPU architecture from scratch out of CMOS chips and as a result most of this shit means nothing to me. It's also convinced me that#the advantages of FPGAs are not at all worth the trade-offs compared to microcontrollers. at least not for me.#Verilog is a shitty ass language and Vivado is a shitty ass software#i wanna rip my own head off while doing a backflip

Selecting a CPU for architectural design: balancing the number of cores with the clock speed

Depending on the particular requirements of your workflow, especially whether you value rendering speed (multi-core tasks) or overall modeling and drafting responsiveness (single-core tasks), the best CPU for architecture design will vary.
A powerful CPU with a high core count is advised for architectural design, particularly for operations like rendering and handling intricate models. In general, an Intel Core i7/i9 or AMD Ryzen 7/9 series CPU is sufficient, with a higher number of cores providing greater performance for rendering and other demanding workloads. Think about using an Intel i7 or Ryzen 7 as a starting point for a nice balance between cost and performance.
Key Considerations:
• Number of Cores: In general, more cores result in greater performance in rendering and other computationally intensive operations.
• Clock Speed: In single-threaded activities, such as CAD and some architectural software, higher clock speeds can enhance performance.
• Intel vs. AMD: For architectural design, both Intel and AMD provide fantastic CPUs. The value and large number of cores in AMD Ryzen processors are frequently praised, while Intel processors are frequently preferred for their single-core performance.
• Rendering: High core numbers are particularly beneficial for CPU-based rendering.
• Software Compatibility: Make sure the CPU you select works with the software you'll be using, such Revit, Rhino, ArchiCAD, SketchUp, and rendering engines like Enscape, Lumion, or V-Ray.
Particular CPU Recommendations:
• AMD Ryzen 7/9: Because they have a decent mix of core count, clock speed, and value, these CPUs are a great option for architectural design.
• Intel Core i7/i9: These CPUs are renowned for their outstanding single-core performance and are ideal for challenging architectural applications.
• AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO: The Threadripper PRO series is made for demanding applications like reality capture and rendering, and it provides exceptionally high core counts (up to 96) for users who require maximum performance.
Suggested CPU choices:
1. Premium CPUs for rendering and demanding projects
• AMD Ryzen 9 7950X With 16 cores and 32 threads, this CPU shines in multi-threaded programs and delivers lightning-fast clock rates for seamless rendering.
• Intel Core i9-13900K : It has 32 threads and 24 cores (8 Performance-cores and 16 Efficient-cores), which enable it to perform exceptionally well in rendering jobs with high clock speeds.
2. Mid-range CPUs for a balanced performance
• AMD Ryzen 7 5800X : It offers strong multi-core performance and excellent single-threaded performance for a lower price, thanks to its 8 cores and 16 threads.
• Core i7-12700K from Intel : It is a dependable and affordable choice for numerous architectural projects due to its excellent mix of multi-core performance and clock rate.
3. Entry-level CPUs for smaller tasks and simple design
• AMD Ryzen 5 5600X : A cost-effective choice with six cores and twelve threads, ideal for simple to somewhat complicated architectural rendering projects.
• Intel Core i5-12600K : With 10 cores (6 performance cores and 4 efficient cores) and 16 threads, it is perfect for beginners and excels at a variety of rendering applications.
Additional Important components:
• RAM: With 64GB or more suggested for larger and more complicated tasks, 32GB of RAM is a solid place to start while working on architecture.
• GPU: At least 6 GB of VRAM on a dedicated graphics card is necessary for seamless rendering and viewport performance.
• Storage: With larger SSDs (1TB or more) recommended for larger projects, an SSD is essential for quick loading times and responsiveness.
You may select a CPU that provides the finest combination of performance and value for your architectural design workflow by taking into account your unique requirements and priorities regarding architectural workstation .

will never get over how my old computer, which has a 3 GHz 8-core processor, 16 GBs of RAM, and decent enough graphics card, couldn't upgrade to windows 11 because the processor was "too old" (it's from like 2017ish), but this fucking all-in-one i'm setting up (but most likely am going to use as a spare monitor for said old computer) is running on a pentium silver processor and is running windows 11. what the fuck
#i know it's because of the CPU architecture or whatever and also AMD is funkier than intel but like. come on.#judging by the stickers and the keyboard it came with this shipped with 10 but either got upgraded by the previous owner or during retail#it's basically a netbook on stilts lmao. it's stuck on the boot screen right now but i am in the middle of setting it up so i'm expecting it#to take a while#windows 11 is a joke lmfao

They should bring back companies/people just trynna make new computer architectures. Mostly for hobbiests to just tinker and make lil contraptions and computers with. Like I don’t want no arm or x86 pc, give me Gerald’s impulsively made processor (Gimp for short :3) that was designed in a garage in Arizona through 120+ degree weather, and for that to be used by a nerd cross the country for a silly little microcomputer who’s sole purpose is to make some child happier in life.

Will take place on December 14 Intel has already announced that it will introduce Meteor Lake processors on December 14, but only now has it announced the corresponding event. [caption id="attachment_78904" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Core i. Intel[/caption] On this day, Core Ultra will replace Core i. Intel announced the AI Everywhere event It's called AI Everywhere, and the name clearly tells us that Intel will place a lot of emphasis on AI when announcing new CPUs. Let us remind you that Meteor Lake will be the first Intel consumer processors with a hardware unit to accelerate AI. Some mobile Ryzen 7040 APUs already have a similar solution, but so far for most users this is a meaningless part of the CPU. However, according to multiple leaks, a big emphasis on AI will be placed in Windows 12, so perhaps then all these processors will reveal a new side. At the agreed event, Intel will also present Xeon Scalable processors of the Emerald Rapids generation.

If my uni license for creo lasted more than a semester and it actually ran on my good pc that's optimised for cad and it didn't need constant internet access to work I'd be making so much cool robot art right now >:|
#tetranynous.txt#im sure i can find a cracked version but the fact that it cant run on my good pc makes me upsetti#(relies on a cpu architecture change from 6 months after my pc came out;#i already have the 2nd fastest cpu that works in that socket; the next one up is only 100hz faster and doesnt fix the issue)#idk i might try out autocad 2012ish since the gpu in my pc was designed for that so it should run really nicely#or maybe some flavour of absolutely ancient cad software for that le epic crust

Learn Computer Architecture: CPU Multitasking- Chapter-2
Part of Putting the “You” in CPU: a rabbit hole into how your computer runs programs. CPU Multitasking Let’s say you’re building an operating system and you want users to be able to run multiple programs at once. You don’t have a fancy multi-core processor though, so your CPU can only run one instruction at a time! Luckily, you’re a very smart OS developer. You figure out that you can fake…
