It鈥檚 Flat Fuck Friday so today鈥檚 Isopod Of The Day is
Porcellionides pruinosus

This is a larger family of isopods, which includes the previously mentioned Powder Orange Isopod as well as Powder Blue Isopods and many others
These guys are the isopods of the day because they cannot conglobate, unlike isopods in the armadillidae family. This makes them wonderful flat fucks

Today鈥檚 Isopod is the
Tounge Eating Louse: Cymothoa exigua

These suckers are an aquatic variant of isopods in the parasitoid isopod family, Cymothoidae. Cymothoa Exigua enters a fish鈥檚 body through the gills, and the female attaches itself to the tongue, while the male attaches to the gill, arching behind and beneath the female. Once settled, the female will sever the blood vessels in the fishes tongue, causing it to wither and fall off. From then on the female will continue to eat the host fish鈥檚 blood and mucus. This crazy method of feeding is what got them their name.

saw exactly 2 posts about lobsters and crabs from you just now and went "Ah...... its Crustaceanposting time" mentally. unsure what that means but hey. it's crustaceanposting time
i was like "huh" and then i looked at my blog and realized my queue just happened to post a crab-related post very shortly after a lobster-related post, that's hilarious
always a good time for crustaceanposting time

First Isopod is the powder orange isopod (Porcellionides pruinosus)
These lovely goobers are best known for their gorgeous orange color, as well as being both fairly hardy, and quick reproducers. Because of this they are great for cleaners in a vivarium, or just as beginner isopods to keep as pets! They are also fairly quick little dudes, them boys scamper.

Isopod of the day
Rubber Ducky Isopods

Rubber Ducky Isopods ( cubaris sp.) are relatively large for an isopod, potentially reaching up to 2 cm (.79 inches) and have bold yellow and orange marking on their faces, which contrasts their black bodies. The markings on their faces noticeably resemble that of a duckling, or rubber duck, earning them their name!
Due to their cuteness, they鈥檝e gained a lot of attention and popularity online. However, Rubber Duckies are a difficult isopod to care for, requiring more specific humidity levels and meals. Due to this they are not well suited for a bioactive set up. Even so, Rubber Duckies are still adorable, and wonderful pets!
