What people think it means when we say “Language is evolving”: This pejorative term isn’t bad anymore because it’s funny to me and I say so.
What it actually means when we say “Language is evolving”: English has developed a specific verb for tricking people into listening to Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up”

csdragon replied to your post “[[MOR] I don’t feel necessarily sad right now, just like. kinda...”
you're describing clinical depression
you’re 100% right, my friend, and it’s honestly something I’ve foreseen coming for a long time, but literally my entire 2018 start to finish (and still into 2019) was filled with other medical issues that allowe dno time for therapy. Here’s hoping my physical health in 2019 gets its act together asap, at least enough so I can make time for it.

That doesn't seem like a fair statistic though. People were most vehemently reacting to the sudden shortening of a card's standard lifespan. At that time, multiple rotations was a symptom of that shortened standard lifespan. Any dislike for multiple rotations would come FROM that. Have you done any research about multiple rotations independent from the shortened rotation? If you ask people now if they'd prefer "each set to stay in for exactly 2 years" for example, they'd like like that!
When we do market research, we ask specific questions. We weren't guessing that players didn't like the second rotation, we specifically asked them about it.
If players actually want two rotations, we'd do two rotations. It's not in our interest to not do what the majority want.
We moved away from two rotations a year because the data clearly and unequivocally showed that's what the majority of the players wanted.

Three main characters, one fighting style
I was thinking about Yashahime today, and it occurred to me, part of what’s been bothering me about the Yashahime fights are how all 3 characters are interchangeable in a fight.
They have surface-level details that are different. Setsuna uses a naginata instead of a sword, and each have their own special finishing move...which are all linear energy blasts. Azure Dragon Wave, Crimson Dragon Wave and Cyclone Burst.
Very early in the show this wasn’t as pronounced. Towa had her spiritual energy absorption and whip. Setsuna used Demon Slayer poisons and tools. Heck, Setsuna even had a special attack that put everyone to sleep. And Moroha used a lot more spiritual energy techniques, as well as her demon form and her father’s old move.
But as we move forward, each character’s unique traits are used less and less. Fights start with swordplay and acrobatics and end when a rainbow pearl starts glowing and a linear energy attack is used.
Contrast this with Inuyasha where every single character operated on a completely different axis from each other.
Inuyasha of course was the most similar to the Yashahime with his swordplay until his newest big secret technique was used to end the fight. But the others were widely different. Kagome’s spiritual archery was extremely powerful but left her open, often forcing battles to play around protecting her organically. Miroku’s wind tunnel meant he could never be directly approached in a fight, but gave him a glaring weakness to poison, while his sutra and staff abilities gave him supportive utility. And Sango’s Hiraikotsu was this immensely powerful weapon but often kept her up on Kirara away from the direct action, while her demon hunter tools allowed her to surprise enemies and play subterfuge.
Heck, even shippo with his illusion magic while not often effective, was still incredibility unique and offered something nobody on the rest of the team had access to, and Kirara could fly and breath fire.
Each character had a unique weapon, unique fighting style, and unique contributions to the team.
This coupled with the bloodless fights of Yashahime makes combat just uninteresting. Characters will yell, jump and swing swords and call out special attacks until the bad guy falls and the Yashahime escape without a scratch. And since they're all part demon, they’re allowed superhuman movement, stamina and damage resistance.
While in Inuyasha, while you still always knew the main characters were gonna live, there was REAL tension. Three of the main cast were normal humans who would not survive a direct hit from even a minor demon’s big attack, and every cut and hit they did take would have a lasting effect for the rest of the fight. Characters would get battered and bloodied and knocked unconscious, the wind tunnel would nearly kill Miroku in big fights, Hiraikotsu would break, Kagome would run out of arrows or drain her spiritual energy, Inuyasha would be very glad the robe of the fire-rat was already red.
I don’t really have a conclusion to this post, but like, yeah. That’s why Yashahime fights aren’t as interesting.

csdragon replied to your post “I really really wanna draw something but. Stupid A+ exams;;;;;;; I...”
What's A+ Exams? Google says it's some kind of certification, but I can't really find much else
It’s a pair of exams to get a base IT certification (A+, which you probably saw in your Google search). I really do enjoy IT but a lot of IT jobs require at the very least having your A+ Certification so here I am working towards that
My frustration with these made worse by me having the artist’s equivalent of a plot bunny that has been eating at me for DAYS and I know I can’t draw it until I take my exams because those are priority hnnnnnngh
#csdragon#replies#I still can't decide whether I want to post non-art stuff to my artblog or not#posting here for now

the most disorienting thing thats ever happened to me was when a linguistics major stopped in the middle of our conversation, looked me in the eye, and said, "you have a very interesting vernacular. were you on tumblr in 2014?" and i had to just stand there and process that one for a good ten seconds

Actually, why do lands have a CMC 0 when they actually do have no mana cost? After all, they're not a spell, so they should be the definition of "no mana cost", and they definitely don't have (0) written in the upper right. Is it defined in the rules regarding lands that they have a CMC 0?
A mana cost and a converted mana cost are different things. The rules needed to have a defined converted mana cost for every card so lands were ruled to have a converted mana of 0, but they do not need a mana cost, so they don't have one.

It’s going to take a lot to convince me that this somehow isn’t literal perfection, and that somehow the angry cat boy who’s never done anything for her deserves it’s endgame status LOOK HOW WHOLESOME THESE THREE ARE AS A CUTE FAMILY UNIT. YOU ARE MARRIED AND SHE IS YOUR DAUGHTER NOW

[1:29 PM] CSDragon: you're on team chaos too right?
[1:29 PM] MakiZushi: ahhhhhhhhh I have trouble deciding
[1:30 PM] CSDragon: As much as a Marina fan as I am, I can't deny Inklings their freedom
[1:31 PM] MakiZushi: I wanna know more about salmonids, I support Pearl, Agent 4 and Callie are on Team Chaos
but I also love the idea of breaking down a cyberpunk Portal-type dystopia, that aesthetic is cool af and the ink color is also cool af
[1:32 PM] CSDragon: I feel like inklings would be a lot happier in chaos though
[1:33 PM] CSDragon: cuz it's like
[1:33 PM] CSDragon: they're all about freedom of self-expression and like, skater themes
[1:33 PM] CSDragon: putting inklings in Order feels like a recipe for angst
[1:34 PM] CSDragon: ...ohhhhhh
[1:34 PM] MakiZushi: good job you figured it out
