they rly should make the top-down dota-style csgo tactical shooter.

the most interesting thing about tactical shooters is imo the info gathering and maneuvering & playing angles etc. unfortunately the primary determinant of skill is gunplay. & worse, if u are better at tactics & comms u rank up to a place where u lose 80% of 'fair fights'

dota/league rotation calls are interesting but the map design is built for a grindy match and not several 3-minute rounds

What I remember from naming Izjik is that I wanted that ž sound in there. I wanted her name to sound foreign to a western audience, so I pulled from what sounds I know go into Polish. All of Halawema’ishi actually, is a mix between what vibes a little American girl like me gets from Polish and Hawaiian. The rest of the Outcasts were named arbitrarily. Which maybe wasn't the best idea. Writer's, always google what you name your characters. You might’ve accidentally stolen a handle from a ranked csgo player, some guy on Spotify, and a 1940s era derogatory term used by Australian soldiers for American soldiers stationed on the island.

For Mortal God, I had a hard time coming up with Astra's name actually. For a while, she was just Dust of the Road. Mashal was named Mashal because it fit with the Shuari vibes, since he's from a largely ethnically Shuari city. Ivander's whole family had vaguely French names for no reason. I usually save French for Skysheer, though I guess he's got some Skysheerian in him.

I keep lists of side character names from Illarian cultures not vaguely based on an Earth culture. Halawemavira, Nabafyrian, and siren most notably. Maybe I'll put those on here someday. For a lot of Illarian cultures, I'm usually able to use the city names to come up with something. I've always been pretty good about pulling names out of thin air. This was a very valuable skill when I used to run dnd.

Only partly there are women’s brackets/tournaments and there are regular brackets/tournaments (everyone can enter)

it’s kinda the same thing with a lot of other sports, I’ve been in kendo tournaments with women’s brackets and mudansha (ie no rank/pre-dan), 1-dan, 2-dan, 3-dan etc all the way up to 6-dan - which meant that often there were women I’d face in mudansha going up against women in the 6-dan bracket in teh women’s bracket

so in theory a sufficiently good woman would be able to get on the regular bracket and mop the floor with whoever, it’s just that they’re VERY few and far between if they exist at all (CSGO, for instance, doesn’t really have any women in the top tier, I don’t believe any woman has played in one of the majors)
