In two days I start working in New York City as a social worker on the Upper East Side. Women In Need is an agency working towards ending homelessness in New York City, specifically women and families impacted by homelessness. 70% of homeless New Yorkers are families with children, most led by women. Many of these families are in this predicament due to fleeing domestic violence. WIN is the largest provider of shelter and supportive housing for families in the city. I have wanted to work in New York City since I was a little girl. And since I was 19 years old, I've wanted to be a social worker.
