day 3 of posting snippets of my shuake fic to peer pressure myself into finishing it (trigger warning for hallucinations, panic attack, graphic descriptions of gore(?))

Goro sits in his room, head clutched in his hands and nails digging into his scalp hard enough to draw blood that has long crusted over, falling in dark red flakes onto his lap. The lights are off and the curtains are drawn. It is dark and there is nothing nothing nothing nothing but him and the shadows reaching for him with clawed hands before vaporizing and a ghost with a mop of curly dark hair drip drip dripping blood onto the hardwood floor of his apartment. It doesn't speak. Just stares, languid and lifeless. Goro doesn't meet its grey gaze, eyes fixated on the pool of blood at its feet. He drags his nails across his face, angry crimson lines trailing from his chin and disappearing into his hairline. Nothing makeup couldn't cover. Nothing his mask wouldn't hide. Nothing for anyone to latch onto or care about. The only person capable of that was reduced to another skeleton in Goro's closet- another bloodied mangled corpse looming over his bed as he slept. Goro blinks.

The body, alive and rotting from the inside out, does not disappear.
