This is more so for fun theory crafting, but given what we know about the Watcher Class, are there any figures in history that could fit the description of the class in the Nasuverse? Given Leviathan is a sort of demon or divine spirit, perhaps only gods or spirits can be summoned as a Watcher?
Good thing to send now, considering how much Trinity Metatronius was a game changer for Watcher and Sigma.
First, let's take a fresh look at the first bits of information we get about Watcher. Icarus explains that Watcher is not a real Extra Class, and that allows her circumvent the Fuyuki Grail rule that says Extra Classes can't be summoned as replacement for Saber, Archer, or Lancer. He adds that if summoned to real Extra Class, Moby Dick would be Gatekeeper.
Back in 2015, there wasn't much else we could extract from this. Hell, last month we were just as stuck. But now have two important keys to this riddle.
First is a second example of a new class being called "not a real Extra Class". Paladin is not a real Extra Class because it's a custom class Mash created to circumvent her growing incompatibility with the Shielder container and the issue of Heroic Spirits becoming time loops if they never died to become one. Watcher is likewise introduced as something that exists to circumvent an inconvenient rule, so we can speculate Watcher also gets the "not a real Extra Class" label because it's Moby Dick's custom class.
The other thing is a second example of a Gatekeeper. Galahad is described as a Gatekeeper, even if his gameplay class is Shielder, and one perk he ascribes to his Gatekeeper status is the ability to independently serve as a Master to other Servants.
To FGO's plot mechanics, Galahad's most important trait is carrying the Round Table, a symbol of many powerful heroes gathering together. This mirrors Watcher symbolizing the Belly of the Whale from The Hero's Journey and being able to produce silhouettes of 7 heroes defeated by their hubris to serve as her means of communication.
If we're going to work with scrapped content too, we know that the Watcher's proper class was going to be Shielder before "last-minute circumstances" (May 2016, around the time FGO part 2 was about to start being planned for real) forced him to change it to Gatekeeper, strengthening the connection between the examples here.
And while we are talking about cut content, Gatekeeper was originally the class created for Gilgamesh and ultimately scrapped in favor of letting him being a normal Archer. And Gil also shares Mash/Galahad's and Moby's common traits of having powers that engage with the general roster of the Throne of Heroes (he's the holder of everyone's Noble Phantasms) and being capable pulling off custom classes for themselves when need (he outright gives himself no class in CCC).

Tumblr media
I've been given a task, and by god I guess I'll do it. This will not be a comprehensive list, simply because there's a lot of Fate media I have not gotten to yet (or haven't watched/played in a long time).
S TIER
Tumblr media
Saber (Artoria): Despite her primary route in F/SN being the least developed, Artoria is the GOAT. No matter how many other blonde women with swords Type-Moon continues to spit out, Artoria will always be THE Saber. She's beautiful. She's perfect. I desperately need her outfit.
Tumblr media
Sakura: She's allowed to do as much murder as she wants. She deserves a little treat.
Tumblr media
Rin: The first time she met Saber, she was about to get run through my Excalibur and STILL the first thought she had was, "Goddamn she's hot." Rin is a closeted bisexual disaster and a queen. Her fashion is immaculate. No one could fix her, but honestly it's pointless to try. If you don't love what's wrong with her, you don't deserve her.
Tumblr media
Saber (Nero): She's beautiful. She's charming. She's a pansexual theater nerd. She has my favorite Noble Phantasm. Her bridal outfit goes SO hard.
A+ TIER
Tumblr media
Bazett: She gets a lot of points for her incredible character design, being cool as fuck, and getting a genuinely fantastic character arc in Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. Unfortunately, she loses a point for having 50/50 taste in men. Lancer? Yeah, sure, totally understandable. Respectable, even. Kirei, though? Girl, what the hell is wrong with you?
Tumblr media
Rider (Medusa): She doesn't get much to do until Heaven's Feel, but boy does she make up for it once you get there. Has some of the best and most charming scenes in F/HA as well. Is basically Sakura's surrogate hot mom. Takahata is a genius for putting her in glasses, a turtleneck and jeans. I would love to spend an afternoon chilling with her in her little library.
Tumblr media
Saber (Mordred): Artoria's angry, punk son. As a character? He rules. Great look, sickass armor, really fun attitude. The main problem with Mordred is how Type-Moon (and by extension, the fanbase) handles his gender situation. Trying to talk with a stranger about Mordred is like navigating a minefield. Will they be chill and understand what's going on, or will they be weirdly insistent about Mordred "definitely" being a girl despite everything he says and does? It's a coinflip, honestly.
Tumblr media
Gray: A precious child. I adore Gray's aesthetic and personality. Her relationship with her adoptive gay dad (Waver) is one of my favorites in the whole franchise. Her scythe is sick as fuck. The only points against her are that it's very difficult to recommend stuff starring her. She's only in one anime (which, while good, is very confusing if you aren't already invested in this franchise). The only other officially translated content starring her are limited-time events in FGO. Some of the Case Files novels have been fan-translated, but not all of them. It's rough out there for Gray fans.
A TIER
Tumblr media
Caster (Medea): The second MILF-coded murder-woman on this list. She's a little one-note, comparatively, but that note is played very well. She killed her first, shitty Master and got herself a stoic, noble husband who loves her SO much. I love how much they adore each other. It's so charming. She also tried to put Saber through a corruption arc via magical bondage and a custom-made wedding dress. Was it evil? Oh, extremely. But do I respect the hustle? Absolutely. The scene in F/HA where Sakura asks her for advice is one of the best in the entire fandisc.
Tumblr media
Illya: I love how much of a gremlin she is. I love how poignant some of her scenes in F/SN are. I love how F/HA lets her (mostly) be a goofball. Although the first two games largely avoid the ickiness that comes with the territory of "18+ woman who looks like a child for Reason," there are still moments that make me side-eye Nasu, and it really only gets worse post-F/HA. I'm sorry, Illya. That magical girl manga isn't your fault, but if a character has to have a "please just ignore anything starring them after this point" caveat, that's gonna deduct some points.
A- TIER
Tumblr media
Caren: A potentially controversial placement. I do appreciate her moxy and how fucked up she is. Big fan of all her outfits. Unfortunately, a lot of her scenes blend together for me and start to feel repetitive. This is likely due to her almost exclusively having scenes with Avenger. She's also the unfortunate recipient of the most off-putting sex scene in the franchise. Yes, even worse than the Rin x Shirou one in UBW. If she got more chances to interact with other people, she'd definitely place higher.
Tumblr media
Otoko: I can count the number of scenes she gets in F/HA on one hand, but she makes a hell of an impression. Great design, great attitude. If Nasu wasn't a fucking coward, there'd be a scene where she gets her strap out of storage and annihilates Taiga.
B TIER
Tumblr media
Taiga: I'm probably gonna get flak for this, but her humor is kinda hit-or-miss for me. Especially in F/HA. She's mostly fine, and she does have a great design, but the joke sometimes gets old. Also the whole "Jaguar Warrior" thing in FGO is a bad look. You can't be doing that, Taiga.
Tumblr media
Luvia: The standard ojou-sama archetype. I enjoy her every time she shows up, but there's not much to her. She's at her best when she's a foil for Rin.
C TIER
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Trio: I've put these characters together, because that's when they're at their best. On their own? Completely forgettable. Together? Solid supporting, comedic-relief characters. They're totally fine. I will never remember their names.
D TIER
Tumblr media
Illya's Maids: I'm not even going to look up their names. I have never been able to remember these characters. Nasu took the concept of "maid that's also a nun" and made it boring. They just get nothing to do. The two of them deserved better.

[OC x CANON/Yumejoshi Content]
The TrisQuia Beans are finally united! 💗
Tumblr media
A while ago I ordered 3 Custom Mochi/Beans based on myself/my Sona „Lady Juquia“. One is, of course, for Tristan and will remain with him in the Tristan Room. The other is for Bartholomew, she will sit in his Shrine and Wait until he gets his own Bean. The third one is for travelling. In the Picture below you can find all the Links to the Shop;
Tumblr media
I can only recommend the Shop. Absolute lovely person who is very kind and patient. The Seller will go with you through every step together, to make your you will be definitely satisfied with the result. You don’t even have to bring your own draft for the Mochi. You can show the Seller what Character you want as Mochi and they will make you a Sketch for Free and help you discussing which material or type of Bean is the best to pick!
Here is a little Close Up of how the Beans look from different angles;
Tumblr media
The whole Order did cost around 76€, including international shipping. The shipping also was very fast since it arrived within two weeks. The prices are very affordable and there are even cheaper options for the smaller wallet! I can only recommend it!
For the end, a little Fun Fact;
The Bean was supposed to arrive on November 5, but due to the Mail Service (they didn’t rang my doorbell) I had to pick it up today at a pick up station, but the time was 10am at my place. Which in JP Timezone was the exact same time and date Tristans Banner in FGO JP dropped! This feels so fated, they really were meant to be together but couldn’t. It’s giving star crossed lovers… 💔

Custom Event: Chaldea (Boys) Idol! World Tour
Also available on AO3. (Where it’s far easier on the eyes, IMO.)
Tumblr media
“I never expected that a career in performing arts could be so demanding, though I’m not sure it would have been any better in my era. The ‘stans’ remind me of zealots. I wonder when they’re going to realize that I’m a human with flaws, like them. There are those that would put others on a pedestal only to tear them down when even the slightest action–”
“Do you ever stop being melodramatic, pretty-boy?”
“Is that really necessary, Mr. Hyde?”
"Hyde does have a point, ya know. You guys should worry about your king more often. He’s gonna run himself ragged eventually. There are movies all about stars like him that overwork until they go nuts.”
"Interesting as your conversation is, we have a real matter to deal with right now, so if you could shut up and tell me what you want on your pizza that would be great.”
Story
There are so many Servants that would’ve been better suited for this. Maybe they’d even enjoy it. Egh… Sorry, Master. This isn’t the worst time I’ve ever had, but I can’t say much for your taste in entertainment. … Don’t give me that look, kid. I’m still gonna help out. Just making sure we’re on the same page.
I’d be much happier on a couch with one of those small metal mouth-thingies. What do you call them? … Nah, not the kazoo. I think it’s the harmonica? Yeah. That’s the one. … No thanks, Master. I don’t want a kazoo. Stop making that face. You look like a puppy. Aaaaaghhh. I’m too old for your shit.

Effect: Ignores Invincibility. Saber damage +35%. [Event Only: +100% Damage. Grants class advantage against Sabers.]
Lore: Do not judge a lancer by their ability to use a boom as a weapon–some of them know that it’s recording equipment, as opposed to a spear. A candid outtake from the first recording session of the Backspear Boys’s debut music video. They seem less like Servants and more like superstars…until one of them opens their mouth to catch food, and suddenly the sparkling facade is no longer. Perhaps Servants and superstars are still like the rest of us, but with disposable income and legions of screaming fans.
Jekyll And Hyde “Sharp Edges” Costume: Featuring Noisy Obsession front-man Hyde in his favorite on-stage ensemble–all black, with unnecessary zippers. Ensemble from CBC2016. (Cover Image As An Example)
Okada Izō “Emcee Vinyl Scratch” Costume: Featuring a futuristic, hip-hop inspired Okada Izō using a microphone stand in favor of his usual katana. Complete with Beats By Dre. Ensemble from CBC2020. (Example)
Demon King Nobunaga “Give Me A Beat(down)” Costume: Featuring Oda Kippoushi in his favorite performance wear, ready to kick ass and take names. Ensemble from CBC2020. (Example)
Hektor “Kids These Days” Costume: Someone pierced Hektor’s ears and replaced his cigarette with a cigar. He’s hiding his shame behind his new Gucci shades.
Sasaki Kojiro “Serpent Or Swallow?” Costume: Has Sasaki always had the horns and tail of a dragon, or are those just for the tour? …Are they real?
Fionn mac Cumhaill "Forever The Sickest” Costume: Which is more surprising–Fionn’s new ‘modern’ hairstyle, or the fact that he let someone do this to him?
3☆ “Applause” Command Code:
Effect: Removes one debuff and recovers 100 HP to a random party member when attacking with the engraved card.
Lore: The warmth shared between songs in an idol’s set. Supporting one’s bias will never go out of style. Kira-kira~
4☆ “Shot To The Heart” Command Code:
Effect: Inflicts Burn with 300 damage for 3 turns to each enemy after attacking with the engraved card.
Lore: An Archer in a shredded suit sets himself ablaze during his solo, then disappears for the next few songs. He returns with his hair and clothing in disarray and burn marks on his face. His smile is bright against his crispy cheeks. He has illuminated the world.
5☆ “Pass The Mic” Command Code:
Effect: Increases damage against Saber enemies by 20% of the engraved card. Increases damage to Riding enemies by 10% of the engraved card.
Lore: Two knights share an unbreakable bond of brotherhood, forged amidst shared secrets and sins. This is NOT to be taken as suggestive. They will throw all stans overboard from their respective ships.
Event & Story Structure
Chaldea (Boys) Idol! World Tour lets Chaldea’s Master navigate work behind the scenes with each of the groups on tour. The player completes story quests to earn Saint Quartz and limited revivals of Chaldea Boys Collection Craft Essences from past years. Number of nodes per section will vary.
The event story is structured as follows:
Idol Training Boot Camp (Sect. 1)
Story: Through all of Ritsuka’s adventures in saving humanity, they didn’t put much thought into the circumstances under which they would need saving. The day has finally come, but there is no escape hatch for the protagonist this time. They are forced to become the ultimate Ideal Idol Tour Manager for Chaldea’s boy bands. Hektor was in the wrong place at the right time to make fun of Ritsuka’s predicament, only to be dragged into it himself as Ritsuka’s right-hand man. Neither has any idea what they’re doing. That’s showbiz! Fake it until you make it, right?
Reward: VIP World Tour Exchange Ticket
Dragon Busters (Sect. 2)
Story: Siegfried and Sasaki are a mismatched pair if there ever was one. Neither fits the mold of an idol, but somehow they seem to have fun performing together. Ritsuka and Hektor put their Idol Training Boot Camp skills into practice with the aid of commentary from two of Siegfried’s biggest fans.
Reward: *RETURN* 3☆ Prince of Slayer Craft Essence
Noisy Obsession (Sect. 3-4)
Story: The trio of Hyde, Arash, and Astolfo felt like it was doomed from the start (at least for them, it did). Years after they cracked drunken jokes starting a band together, they finally have the opportunity to perform in front of a real, live crowd! (Not to be confused with a fake, Singularity-bound crowd. They have plenty of experience with the collateral damage associated with those.) Ritsuka and Hektor are tasked with the impossible–to create the ultimate pyrotechnics display using Arash as the focal point!
Reward: Saint Quartz
Reward: *RETURN* 4☆ Noisy Obsession Craft Essence
A-TSU-MO-RI (Sect. 5-7)
Story: The loss of the Guda Guda events left Nobunaga stranded, desperate for a new opportunity to get funky fresh outside of canon. To combat this, Maou Nobu presents as Oda Kippushi and unites with Okada Izō and Mori Nagayoshi to perform as–wait for it–a hip-hop group specializing in multi-genre music that wouldn’t sound out of place on an early-2000s Linkin Park album. They even make the YUNGBLOOD-MGK collaboration look weak with how hard they go. And their lyrics? How can such a group come up with such sick bars? Ritsuka and Hektor do the math, and something doesn’t add up…
Reward: Saint Quartz
Reward: Saint Quartz
Reward: *RETURN* 3☆ Superb Turbulent Times Craft Essence
Knight Of The Round (Sect. 8-9)
Story: On their first full-fledged tour, the KOTR learn about the horrors of stan culture when they are unwillingly exposed to Gawain x Lancelot fan-art, cams, edits, and fiction. The group tries, and fails, to maintain normality while Bedivere and Tristan pick up the fragments of the other guys’ fractured dignity. That is, until they find people doing the same for their king and his wizard and demand Ritsuka do something about it!
Reward: Saint Quartz
Reward: Saint Quartz
Star Of Camelot (Sect 10)
Story: Arthur is no stranger to putting on a face for the public. He’s thrilled that he finally has the opportunity to perform on stage again. To nobody’s surprise he still overworks himself, to the dismay of his multi-talented co-writer/producer/choreographer/life coach. While trying to relax, the two happen upon the same Arthur x Merlin fan-works that the KOTR were trying to hide. Ritsuka and Hektor perform damage control.
Reward: Saint Quartz
OUTRAGE (Sect. 11-12)
Story: Hektor’s time runs out as Outrage finally catches up to him. Knowing that he can’t yet repay the debt he’s run on the gang’s tab, he confesses to Ritsuka that he hates this stupid tour, hatesidol culture, and hates that he’s going to be speared-through by Outrage’s leader. Ritsuka battles Outrage for Hektor’s freedom from his debts.
Reward: VIP World Tour Exchange Ticket
Reward: *NEW* 5☆ The Way You Want It Craft Essence
Backspear Boys (Sect. 13-15)
Story: Five lancers watch suffering unfold as Ritsuka and Hektor fight to make last minute preparations for the nearing debut Chaldea (Boys) Idol! Concert. While they chat over food, Finn McCool, Deermood, Cool Cullen, Je Suis Karnanana, and Clay find themselves making music together with objects lying around on the table. They’re surprised by how well they “vibe” together as a group and decide to see if their knowledge of modern technology spreads to musical instruments. Turns out, it does! And with that, the Backspear Boys are born amidst bickering over who plays what (Diarmuid refuses to take ‘lead’ anything) and how they should prevent Enkidu from consuming the expensive studio equipment for fun. They agree to help out Ritsuka and Hektor with the other performers during their sets at the debut live show. As thanks, the other music groups join together to help the Backspear Boys start their career as a bangin’ boy band. Everyone uses the word “vibe” an uncomfortable amount of times near the end. It gets weird.
Reward: Saint Quartz
Reward: Saint Quartz
Reward: Holy Grail
Epilogue (Sect. 16)
Story: Ritsuka and Hektor finally get to take a break. They both stop running around for a second and realize that they’ve gotten everything done, and that somehow, some way, they made it work. Hektor opens up about his insecurities regarding his past failures, admitting that along this journey he expected Ritsuka to be disappointed in his lack of interest or expertise in this event. He gets all vulnerable about the different shit he had to figure out on the fly with Ritsuka during this chaos, and how uncomfortable it made him. (CG.1) He’s grateful for the opportunity he’s had to learn from Ritsuka and grow alongside them. Like a proud dad/uncle/mentor, he tells Ritsuka how happy it made him to see their hard work pay off. He goes on a tangent about how cool some of the stuff they got to do was, then rants about how much he hated every second of it. (CG.2) Ritsuka compliments him in return, and they share a quiet moment of mutual understanding. Hektor is about to say something, but the other Outrage non-musical-gang members show up to berate the shit out of him Only to transition to complimenting him themselves, and asking if he has any interest in managing more projects for their non-musical-gang. Hektor’s response is a firm, but amicable, “Hell no.”
CG Get: Ritsuka and Hektor dressed in their professional garb, collapsed on an illuminated stage. Ritsuka spread out like a snow angel, Hektor with his arms folded behind his head and knees bent. The lights and colors cast a glow on them.
Variant 1: Both exhaling, exhausted, eyes closed.
Variant 2: Sheepish/embarrassed Hektor, cheeky idiot Ritsuka.
Reward: Saint Quartz
Side Stories + Challenge Quests
Side Story A: Unlocks after completing Noisy Obsession.

Reward: Jekyll And Hyde “The Sharpest Edges” Costume
Side Story B: Unlocks after completing A-TSU-MO-RI.
Story: Okada Izō’s ability to mimic swordplay translates into his wordplay, where he can pick up any line another guy drops. It’s totally like him to try to get by on his talent alone. Can he ever be persuaded to pursue more than what he’s capable of today?
Reward: Okada Izō “Emcee Vinyl Scratch” Costume
Side Story C: Unlocks after completing OUTRAGE.
Story: Oda Nobunaga, Maou Nobunaga, and Oda Kippoushi are different people, okay?! But they’re also definitely the same person and deserve the same respect. They’re all equally important, and they’re all here to rock the fuck out, for better or worse!

Random Details
The idol-themed event that Fate/Grand Order neither wants nor needs, but it provides the opportunity to get old Chaldea Boys Collection Craft Essences and that’s more than enough reason to play it. Inspired by the idol-themed Chaldea Boys Collection Craft Essences. There are other music-themed CBC Craft Essences, but they unfortunately didn’t fit thematically with this concept. Instead, there are references to those ideas through the side characters in the event.
“The Way You Want It” is a reference to the Backstreet Boys song “I Want It That Way.”
The Way You Want It is designed to encourage the player to use non-Archer Servants to defeat Saber-class enemies, specifically in the Advanced+ battles and Challenge Quests. Outside of this event, its closest Craft Essence counterpart is probably Infant of Atlas. Invincibility and Sabers aren’t the most common combination. It’s not a “good” CE but it’s definitely a fun one for the purposes of this exact event. Worth MLBing? Maybe not. But if you MLB it and it grants Sure Hit that’d be pretty cool.
The first single the Backspear Boys release is probably another play on a Backstreet Boys song.
Enkidu messes around with expensive studio equipment unless specifically instructed otherwise. This includes, but is not limited to, eating multi-thousand-dollar microphones and using cables as rope to tie up suspicious individuals.
The suspicious individuals above are underpaid employees Enkidu hasn’t been introduced to yet.
One of the Challenge Quests is vs. a way-over-tuned Gawain and Lancelot. Assume they’re blaming you for the fanfiction of them spreading. Or for perpetuating it by participating in fandom.
Gawain says, “On God, that’s the tea, sis.”
“Shot To The Heart” is a reference to “You Give Love A Bad Name” by Bon Jovi, and the fact Arash fucking dies when he uses his Noble Phantasm.
Sieg is Siegfried’s biggest fan. His Tweeter feed is full of Siegfried propaganda. Astolfo is jealous, but jealousy isn’t a good look so he doesn’t say anything about it. (Siegfried already knows anyway.)
Sanson is brought in by Ritsuka to work with Noisy Obsession per Astolfo’s recommendation. Astolfo and Sanson are both in the choir trio Angel Breath with Sieg.
Hans Christian Andersen does not write the lines for members of A-TSU-MO-RI, but he helps “train” the angry boys on their vocabulary and spoken word style. They regularly bring in “that little blue dude” to have rap battles. They refuse to share their alcohol as he looks like a child. Shakespeare later laughs at him about it.
“Serpent Or Swallow?” is a reference to Sasaki Kojiro’s Swallow Reversal technique that acknowledges the fact he somehow gets dragon horns and a tail for a costume. Also more grown-up wordplay on the age-old question of “spit or swallow?”
“Forever The Sickest” is a reference to the band Forever The Sickest Kids, and is a dated reference to suggest that the hairstyle Fionn was given by the “celebrity” stylist for his costume was as dated as the reference is.
Originally Arash was going to receive a Costume based on his Noisy Obsession outfit instead of Hyde, but he got a Command Code instead.
The “Stars” of the event are the frontmen of each group. The frontmen of each group play roles throughout the entire event story that I was too lazy to explain in the brief section summaries here. (If there’s interest I’ll go into detail about the storyline, battles, and Servant interactions at a later date.)
Hektor was chosen as the buddy cop for this event on a whim, initially with the intention of him acting as a foil for the event’s environment. He was going to be pretty miserable through most of it, and while he is still not happy with his circumstances, the narrative arc that he takes through the event would leave him emotionally satisfied, even if he did have a shit time working. Honestly they can’t pay him enough for this shit. The more thought I put into Hektor as the partner for this event, the more the subplot of “him avoiding Outrage” developed, and the more intertwined I saw the varying groups’ stories as being.
This event has two main subplots that follow from start-to-finish outside of the individual groups’ stories. One is “Hektor accidentally got himself up shit creek with Outrage and now they’re going to kick his ass.” The other is parallel, and is “a mysterious non-musical-group is parading around with our troupe trying to get information from us about Ritsuka and Hektor’s whereabouts so we have to steer them the wrong way or maybe kick their ass.”
Story supports have the potential to be a ton of fun in this event, because there are so many different characters that you’re just gonna be stuck with.
For “boss” fights in each groups’ sections of the story, the only available Servants would be Servants within that idol group. Story supports available would be from that same idol group.
As an example, during the Dragon Busters “boss” fight, only Siegfried or Sasaki would be usable. Both would be available as story supports. The fights would be tuned for these incidental solo/duo situations, since they’d be so common.
As another example, during the Knights Of The Round “boss” fight, the only available Servants are Lancelot, Gawain, Tristan, and Bedivere. Each would also be available as a story support.
Another thing to consider is that completing Section 12 gives the player the first copy of The Way You Want It, so fights in Sections 13-16 have the potential to play on that. Imagine all the fun comps you can play using Lancers Only for like 4 whole sections?
There is, in fact, at least one fight against the KOTR and one against Star Of Camelot. Plus the Backspear Boys are the “culmination” of the hard work that Ritsuka and Hektor put in, so it only makes sense to reward that hard work by letting Lancers smack Sabers in–if only for this event. There are a total of 6 Saber-class Servants in this event (7 if you count Astolfo being able to be summoned as a Saber, 9 if you consider that Okada and Sasaki are both skilled swordsmen that aren’t of the Saber class).
This is the culmination of over 10 hours of research, planning, writing, and organizing. It took longer than my Britannia vs. Roma Singularity concept. Was it worth it? No, probably not. It’s obviously neither perfect nor complete and it’s really just an extended shitpost, so you’re the one who wasted their time, aren’t you?
I could go into so much more detail about every part of this from a game design and narrative perspective but like I already went hard on what was supposed to be a shitpost and wasted a bunch of my life on it so I guess I played myself.

Information as to Why Twisted Wonderland is NOT an Otome or Dating Sims Game
Hello Everyone! It’s been a while~ ヾ(•ω•`)o I finally found the courage to write Twisted Wonderland content after what happened a couple months ago, when I literally just came back, and while writing a couple of analysis I thought I would write this as an informative rather than an actual analysis of the game.
DISCLAIMER: This post is NOT by any means demeaning otome games or dating sims whatsoever. This was written to clear the misunderstanding people had on the genre of Twisted Wonderland and that anyone should be allowed to be play without feeling restricted or thinking it’s not something they want to try because of misunderstandings. Do NOT use this post as a source to offend people but please use it to inform others.
It’s no longer old news that Twisted Wonderland frequently gets called an “otome game” or dating sims by people who never played the game before. People on twitter, youtube, and even those that were trying to or supposed to advertise the game have often categorized it as such. This wouldn’t have been such a big deal had people recognize and acknowledge that the game isn’t after being explained to about it, but after hearing their arguments as to why they refuse to change how they think about it, the frustration pent up for nearly a year has finally bubbled over.  Buckle your seats everyone cause today is the day this argument ends once and for all!
First off, let’s start off with what makes an otome/dating-sims an otome/dating sim. Both are very similar, where, according to Japan’s Wikipedia, Nico dictionary, Kotobanks, and many more Japanese dictionary sites, otome games (i.e. 乙女ゲーム)  are games which includes a female MC who has the opportunity to attract the very attractive male characters in the game and enter a love route with each of them separately or harem-like. Dating sims are a bit different. Dating sims (i.e. 恋愛シミュレーションゲーム)  falls into to two definitions with the first one being the exact reversal of otome: MC being male, the love interest characters being very attractive females. The second definition is the one many are familiar with – a romantic visual novel. Believe it or not the first definition is the original definition of what dating-sim games are, the second meaning derived from many attempts of using the term “dating-sim” incorrectly by the English speaking gamers to the point society now believes it’s the actual meaning.
However, this difference doesn’t change that both otome and dating sims are very close. Both genres include gender-specific MC(s) (there’s been games where a player can play either male or female), handsome/beautiful characters with their respective love routes, and a main plot to follow. In addition to this, when the game is in mobage format, there’s going to be showers of fan service in the form of events and gacha-cards, though, arguably, it doesn’t change the fact that the MCs would still be interacting with the characters romantically.
So, from the explanation written above, Twisted Wonderland falls into that category, right? Sorry not sorry, that’s wrong. Sure, Twisted Wonderland has many characters to swoon over since…I mean…they’re drawn and written by Yana Toboso and her staff and…there hasn’t been anyone so far who had the capability of saying no to characters she personally had drawn or created. But! It doesn’t mean that the game is a dating sim or otome.
One of the reasons Twisted Wonderland isn’t one of them is how the game is set up. There are no routes the MC can enter nor can the MC pick and choose which characters to focus on in general. Like FGO and Granblue Fantasy, the MC solely follows the main plot and has to interact with all the characters they’re introduced to whether they like it or not. The same logic is applied when playing events – the MC will be participating and talking to all the characters involved in the event. Not once does the game give the opportunity for the MC to choose who they can talk to and participate in the event with the person they chose. The only time it’ll be one-on-one is, most of the time, getting the desired character’s card through gacha or when the event sets the story where the MC has no choice but to talk to a character one-to-one. For the latter though, the MC isn’t going to be able to wish for the character they want to talk to – it’s completely random and up to the writers who they want the MC to interact with.
For otome and dating-sims alike, especially in mobage format, the MC has the opportunity to choose who they wish to focus on and interact solely with the characters they chose whether it’s the main story, event, and card story. It can even be arguably said that otome and dating sims focus solely on the MC and their love interest interaction more than anything else. As for Twisted Wonderland, again, that does not happen. Twisted Wonderland, in addition to progressing the main story and revealing more about the characters involved, focuses on everyone’s interaction with each other including the NPCs. The game shows the other characters that aren’t interacting with the MC talking to other characters and what role they were playing while the MC was busy with the group the writer had them interact with during that time. Even in the card stories, most of the card stories involve more character-to-character interaction rather than MC-to-character interaction.
Speaking of which, the MC in Twisted Wonderland, the game, is gender ambiguous.  Not once did the game developers and story writers mentions the MC as a specific gender like the other romance games. Heck, most of the characters don’t even use a gender-specific pronoun such as 彼女 (“kanojo” = she) or  彼 (“kare” = he) when referring to the MC. They usually refer to the MC by their given position, 監督生 ( “kantokusei”  = prefect). The only exception is when the game’s mascot and MC’s buddy, Grim (the blue-fire monster), who uses あいつ ( “aitsu”) which is a gender neutral pronoun that holds the vague meaning of “that one” or “that person”. There’s also the fact that the MC’s default name is ユウ (“Yuu”), which is name used by either genders in Japan and how the MC uses gender neutral pronouns when regarding themselves  as 自分 (“jibun”) and others as 貴方/あなた (“anata”).
Even during the official advertisement, official summary, official game archive book ( i.e., Twisted Wonderland Magical Archives), and posts made by the staff on twitter, not once did they specify the gender of the MC. In fact, they never once even specified the gender of the audience they’re targeting the game towards nor say anything about there being romance or any hints of harem-esque situations that involves the MC in any shape or form. The most “direct” statement made by Twisted Wonderland’s staff was from an email a fellow Twisted Wonderland fan had sent to the staff after a magazine had advertised the game as “Disney’s first game for women”. The email from the staff mentions that they wanted the game to be enjoyed by everyone, REGARDLESS OF GENDER. (link to said post here)
If they had any intentions of making the game otome-like or dating sim-like, Aniplex, Disney, and Twisted Wonderland staff would’ve mentioned that the game has romance or the possibility for there being romance when releasing the story summary, game system set up, and their ads. Not only would they have done that to get the audience they wish to target but speaking of it legally, they are required to mention it since there’s liability on their part on informing their customers on anything they need to know in regard to the game they’re playing. Age restrictions, fees, game play, and the like – Twisted Wonderland also had to go through the same process like any other visual novel games to be developed and released.
In a way, Twisted Wonderland can be seen as another Touken Ranbu or KanColle, but with an actual main story plot to progress through. All three games’ MCs are gender ambiguous, great characters to throw-er-spend money on, and have fun game plays. Sure, unlike Touken Ranbu and KanColle, where their MCs continues to be gender ambiguous in their anime and manga adaptation, Twisted Wonderland’s MC in the manga adaptation ended up being male – however, a statement was released by Yana revealed that the MC in the game and the MC for the manga are not the same people. (Link here) Meaning, the “real” or “official” MC’s gender continues to be gender ambiguous for the sake of continuing to attract all genders to play the game.
All of this being said, Twisted Wonderland is a fun, visual novel game and supposed to be enjoyed by everyone – each to their own way and passion. No one shouldn’t be discouraged from playing it solely because of false advertisements or misconceptions made by others who haven't played the game yet.
I hope this clears things up and hopefully helps others persuade people into playing the game!

The Unveiling of Ibaraki-Douji’s Character Across FGO (1/2)
Tumblr media
I should start with the disclaimer that this isn’t specifically intended to be an analysis of Ibaraki as character, or so to speak an analysis of her narrative arc, character development, and growth over the course of Grand Order. For that, I extremely recommend reading the meta posts of @xenodile. They are very thoughtful, insightful, and nuanced analyses of her.
This is more or less a consolidation of my thoughts on the reveals made about her character over time, the slow meting out of tidbits about what lies under her surface and what her true basis is. In short, the deciphering of her puzzle. In that regard, this post won’t go into Ibaraki content irrelevant to that, such as the relative low points of her treatment over time.
Ibaraki: “Kuha, kuhahahaha! Woman, woman, woman! Is this the first time you’ve seen something like me? Then engrave it within that body. Cram it in in place of the organs that’ll be devoured by insects after death. Violent like a rampaging beast, terrifying as a god, miserable as an insect! Knowing neither human weakness nor a warriors’ pride, lowly so as to wield one’s rotting arm as a weapon! That is an Oni. One who terrifies humans with all they have, a man-eating demon!”
When we’re first introduced to her in Rashoumon, Ibaraki is an intimidating presence, speaking of the depravity of the oni and how she is the embodiment of it. Right off the bat, there’s something to be said about her being fixated on what an oni is and how she fits the bill, rather than her own individuality.
Ibaraki: “Kuha, kuhahahaha! How nice, how nice!”
Kintoki: “This isn’t nice at all! Your eyes aren’t laughing at all, damn you!”
Ibaraki: “….mu, don’t insult me. I’m not used to laughing. Laughter from the bottom of my heart, huh… I can’t do it like Shuten.”
And only just a bit later, it already becomes clear she’s forcing herself a bit. She’s not used to laughing, to be able to do it fully and genuinely. And again, shortly thereafter, her weakness is called out.
Kintoki: “Can’t you tell? Bah, whatever. Hey General, can you tell her?”
Protagonist: “It’s because you haven’t eaten Shuten.”
Ibaraki: “Y-you human! Don’t say such a cruel thing! Eating Shuten was just a manner of speech! That... like hell I can eat her! I would never injure the Shuten that I respect so much, you fool!”
Kintoki: “See? She’s like that.”
Protagonist: “…a chicken.”
Quite contrary to her initial impression, Ibaraki’s fundamental nature is that of a coward. Certainly she has some capacity for fierceness and fighting, but she doesn’t truly live up to the violent, miserable, and terrifying image she projected at the beginning. And as for why she did that?
IbarakI: [Blushing] “C-can’t help it, this is an Oni’s custom! An Oni must always put on airs! That’s what Mother taught me!”
At this point we learn that the airs she puts on are an ideal she tries to live up to in order to be a proper oni, as taught by her mother. That’s someone that will come up later, but for now we learn from her debut event that Ibaraki feels compelled to hold herself to a particular impression, to appear as a fierce inhuman oni, due to her mother’s teachings.
There’s nothing in particular I want to highlight in her profile and lines, wherein she mostly presents as she does at the beginning of the event, as an imperious and deadly leader of oni. It certainly can be gleaned from her lines though that she puts a particular emphasis on her being an oni as opposed to a human. Throughout her various appearances in this interim period, she continues to insist on being a true and vicious oni while generally in practice being a big dork, though she never truly acknowledges this.
And indeed, throughout all this, her esteemed mother she seems to hold in veneration, perhaps even fear, continues to come up. It’s evident that even if she isn’t physically present, her influence is felt every time Ibaraki pushes herself to be a proper oni, to hold herself to that standard.
And then we get to her mats profile.
Tumblr media
Ibaraki isn’t just upholding that image with words and to a mild extent actions, she’s literally pushing her own body to adhere to that particular image. It makes what we’ve known about how she forces herself pale in comparison.
Tumblr media
Her personality section, as much as it understates what she went through because this game isn’t the ideal of taking things as seriously as they should be, explicates why she is how she is quite clearly. Her mother of noble birth, devoid of love, literally beat her into the mold of a proper oni. The reason she acts the way she does is because she was forced to every single day act as a proper scion to the oni, assume responsibility as a leader of oni. She was left with no choice but to mutilate her own heart and strive to act as a prideful monster, and she is constantly self-conscious of maintaining that image.
This then would seem to be the final word on how Ibaraki’s character came to be, but there are some additional wrinkles, first alluded to here as well.
Tumblr media
Watanabe no Tsuna is a hunter of oni, the man who put an end to her grief stricken rampage and humiliated her by cutting off her arm. It’s only natural that she should hate him and want to kill him. But why then does she feel the conflicting impulse of wanting to talk to him? Why does she feel strong curiosity about him? What is there to be curious about, when he did what any human would do if possible and put a stop to her destructive rampage? Shuten only offers a cryptic answer, and Ibaraki is left with the lingering question.
Dialogue 9 I am an oni from Hell, but from the looks of it, that one's an oni of the present world. I can sense the blood of a high-class god from Shuten Douji, but Ibaraki Douji has a smell similar to mine. ...She must have been a human, originally. (If you have Shuten Douji and Ibaraki Douji)
The sparrow Beni-enma, soon to release in FGO NA, has a line for Ibaraki Douji, and it is a truly absurd place to receive such a major revelation. Ibaraki was not born as an oni, but as a human. It’s a detail that contextualizes why her mother of noble oni stock was so unrelentingly harsh on her, why she was so particular and forceful about making her into a proper oni. Such is doubly necessary to make up for the deficit of having once been human, of being so impure. It contextualizes as well why she didn’t take to that traumatic teaching easily, why she still lapses into a sweets loving coward. Her fundamental nature isn’t quite that of an oni, and that’s why she has to push herself so hard.
But then, how has this not especially come up before? Ibaraki’s basically never alluded to having formerly been a human, something which you would think impossible, even if she has an image she works hard to maintain. Likewise, she seems a certain degree too casual, too unaware, when it comes to what her mother put her through, even if she bears fear and awe.
Tumblr media
Of all the places to do it once again, the tail end of Beni-enma’s interlude answers the matter, and once again contextualizes all of Ibaraki as a character prior. She was so thoroughly traumatized, so thoroughly indoctrinated, so thoroughly broken, that she repressed the memories of what she endured. She only remembers it as a distant emotional impression of having to crawl towards an impossible goal, of having to smile even as if she was in agony.
And Shuten maintains that illusion. Ibaraki has always been how she is. She’s never been through anything like that. She’s always been an oni’s oni, the ideal oni everyone wanted, and there’s no need to dwell on anything else.
Tumblr media
Ibaraki is able to maintain her current self by burying her trauma deep inside of her, clinging to a reality of a stern but teaching mother that never existed. Of course she’s full of pride. She’s an oni, so she should act like an oni. There’s no need to think about difficult things, or be moved by uncomfortable sentiments.
Of course she doesn’t remember being a human. She had her past torn away from her by what she was forced to become, her memories ripped to shreds by the unsentimental abuse of her so called mother. To acknowledge what came before what she is now would be to undo her entire self.
And Shuten reveals she maintains this lie so that Ibaraki can remain happy. She fears Ibaraki will fall apart if the delusions she clings to are torn away. To simply allow Ibaraki to be carefree and pursue her desires is all she feels she can do.
But why does Tsuna come up? What bearing does he have on Ibaraki’s trauma? He’s nothing more than a sworn enemy that put a stop to her rampage and disgraced her by cutting off her arm. Certainly his presence stirs up some feeling, but it should have no bearing on her past, her pain, what she was and what she forces herself to be. Why does Shuten believe that if Ibaraki were to meet Tsuna, she might break down?
Tumblr media
Tale of the Beginning and the End
― And just like that, it was all over. Grisly claw marks, destroyed houses, shattered household belongings. And a single woman nearby, close to the brink of death. I may or may not make it in time. It seems like I was wrong from the start.
I never expected us to come in contact with one another. The last thing I wanted to do was to even look at you. However, as long as you were alive. As long as you were happy. I thought that would be enough. But look, this is the reality.
she's dead / it's your fault she was killed / it's your fault that oni escaped / you must kill her don't avert your gaze / look away i'll carve out those golden locks of hers / you're not done yet decapitate her / kill yourself who should I blame? / no one is to blame
― And just like that, the man ceases his delusional thoughts. Oni are meant to be killed. I will slay her...that's all, nothing else to it. No, think. I have to keep thinking. Even if I die, until I die, even if I become corrupted.
I remember that look in her eyes, like bubbles that floated away and vanished.
Quietly, without a hint of any intense emotion, I stared back at the girl who had fixed her gaze on me. Everyone is a sinner. Oni are sinners, people are sinners, the girl is a sinner, I am a sinner. They are not just sins, but responsibilities as well.
I tightly grasp the hilt of my sword. I have no intention of giving it up to anyone. Having it even be stolen would be absurd. "Slaying that oni, is my duty."
― Tsuna, Tsuna, TSUNAA!
......the oni's claws approach. Something, whatever it is, swells within my trembling heart. I rotate my body, turn my arms, and swing my sword.
The truth of this fight, along with its conclusion, will soon disappear to the passage of time.
No one else can understand, will be able to understand this fight to the death between the two of us.
Watanabe no Tsuna’s profile paints the picture of a man unmoved as he slew countless oni. He is without hatred and without joy. He is akin to a robot.
And yet In his Bond CE this man who is even uncertain he has emotions to begin with, when it comes to Ibaraki, is left questioning everything he is. He is wracked with self loathing, desires even his own death, and condemns himself as a sinner. He berates himself and rages at himself.
He never expected to come into contact with her. The last thing he wanted was to ever see her again. It was enough that she was happy and alive. And yet it had come to this. No one but him can understand the truth of this fight.
The picture is perhaps of having come home to ruination. A doll lays discarded. Why is it that Ibaraki-Douji wishes to talk with a human she has only known as a sworn enemy in a single encounter? Why is that she has such a sheer curiosity about him? Why is it that to meet him again might break down the illusion of what she is? Why is it that the machine of a demon slayer breaks when it comes to encountering her and her alone?
Ibaraki-Douji, despite everything she pushes herself to be, was once human. She had a human family, and a human past. And perhaps that past is not quite as dead as her heart makes it out to be.

Do you have any advice on how to start an rp blog? I feel like there's so much to do and so many specific things, it looks intimidating, but I really want to get into it (and your blog seems like a safe space to ask as a baby in the matter)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi! Thanks you for asking and for trusting. I do admit that rping on tumblr can look daunting and there is a series of things that are considered “etiquette” that might not be obvious for newcomers. And the only way to learn is to ask, right? As I’m not sure if you would like something more specific or a step-by-step, I’m going to go through the whole process.
note: this is a repost from an ask in a more reblog-friendly format
1.       Setting up the blog
You might want to make a new e-mail account for each blog you want. I recommend making a gmail/google account, so you may be able to use other services and associate them with your blog. I’ll go into more details in a minute.
Some people would rather have a personal blog and then making the RP blog as a side-blog. Or a “hub” blog and many side-blogs so they have everything centralized. The downside is that you can’t follow people with side-blogs, only the main – and some rpers are a little suspicious of personal blogs, so if you intend to go this route it might be a good idea to state somewhere in your blog that you have a RP blog.
Tip : It isn’t said too often, but I recommend saving your blog’s e-mail and password somewhere, maybe a flashdrive or even google drive. This way, if something happens you will be able to retrieve your account.
When picking the URL, for a very long time tumblr had problems tagging URLs with a hyphen ( - ). I’m not sure if it has been fixed or if there are still some issues, so I recommend only using letters and maybe numbers. Other than that, pick anything that sounds nice to you!
Themes are nice, but not entirely necessary. Not everybody has photoshop skills and all that. Some people do have commissioned themes, but if you want to try your hand at it my first stop is usually @theme-hunter  or @sheathemes . They reblog many themes from many creators, so there are always many options that might suit your needs.  Some creators offer very newcomer-friendly themes that you can configure a lot of things without much hassle but some might require basic HTML knowledge – a few creators have guides on how to properly set up their themes and are willing to and answer questions, so don’t be afraid to contact them! You can also send me an ask, I’m not a specialist but I can certainly help walk you through the basics.
Tip: @glenthemes have very good themes and a basic installation guide here.
When fiddling with the options, try to pick colors that have nice contrast and are easy to read. If you are bad at picking colors or have problems in finding the code for them, I recommend trying this link. There is also this one that auto-generate palettes.
Tip : If you mess with your theme, remember there is the Theme Recovery.
Tip: If you use Chrome or Firefox you can set up different profiles and associate each with a different blog, so you don’t need to log out from any of your accounts.
There are two pages that I recommend having: one is an about your muse. If they are an OC, it is always a good idea to have at least some information out there to make things easier. If they are from a canon source, not everybody is familiar with the material so it might be a good idea to state. For example, if you are going to roleplay as Altria/Arturia, it is a good idea to have a “RP blog for Saber (Altria Pendragon) from FGO/FSN “ somewhere visible. The other page that is a good idea having is a rules/guidelines page. This one can be a little intimidating, but it is usually a way to communicate important things. For example: are you comfortable writing violence? Do you have any personal triggers? There is something you absolutely won’t write? There are things you may figure out along the way and it is absolutely ok to fine-tune this session every now and then. Some people also credit source for their icons and graphics in general in their rule/guideline page.
If you are using the tumblr default themes, when you create a new page you can turn on the option to show a link to the page. If you are using a custom theme, most of the time you will have to link it manually.
Tumblr media
Oh, and if you are planning to do a multimuse, it might be a good idea to list which muses you have. The same goes for a hub blog; list the muses and link to the pages.
Icons aren’t necessary but are considered commonplace. You can find some icons I’ve done here but there are plenty of other sources. If you want to do your own icons, keep in mind to don’t make them too big, as a courtesy to your mutuals.
Tip: Anything larger than 300 pixels will be stretched to fit the post. As of today ( 4/29/2021 ) the posts are currently 540 pixels wide. This can be useful as making banners for your blog.
Tumblr allow users to “pin” posts. This mean that they will always visible if you access your blog, even on dash/mobile. You can use this to set up a post with basic links for mobile users or something else. For example, if you are out on vacations and won’t be able to do replies, you can pin a hiatus notice and then remove the pin once you are back.
Tumblr media
2.       Introducing yourself
Time to officially join the fun! (insert a “Hi, Zuko here” joke) Don’t worry if you don’t have a fancy promo graphic or anything, most people make their initial introduction with a simple post.
Tumblr media
(as you can see, I’m not very good at saying ‘hi’)
Try to introduce yourself in a few lines, but make sure to state which muse you RP as. Some people also like adding their pen name/alias and establishing a brand. Follow as many people as you want that reblogged or liked your post, and tumblr is going to start recommending other blogs that are related to the tags you use normally or have any relation to the people you follow. You can put as many tags as you want, but tumblr will disregard more than 6 tags in their system. Try tags like “<fandom> rp” and “<fandom> roleplay” along with the media, such as “movie” “video game”, “anime” and so on.
It might also be a good idea to follow a few RP memes blogs. They often have options to break the ice, like one-liners that your mutual can send you.
Tip: Don’t forget to turn on the asks and the anon
3.       Practical advice
Alright, now that you have a few mutuals, it is time to get to some general tips:
Tumblr can be a little “iffy”, and a great quality of life extension for RPers and navigation in general is installing the New Xkit extension. They offer a number of options to enhance your tumblr experience, but the ones I consider essential are the “editable reblogs”, “quick tags” and “blacklist”. Get it for Chrome or Firefox.
As a rule of thumb I recommend writing your RPs using Google Docs before posting or replying. By doing this you can do some spell check and if your browser crashes for any reason you can easily recover your work. You can also use Word, Open Office, or any text editor you feel like.
Because I’m a bit of a perfectionist, I also have Grammarly ( Chrome / Firefox ) installed for an extra layer of spell/grammar check. There is a subscription option, but the free one works perfectly fine.
To make things easier to locate, always tag the URL of your RP partner when doing a reply. There are other useful things you can tag, such as open starters, memes, and such.
Risking being obvious here, but when you are not interacting as your character it might be a good idea to tag as “ooc” or “out of character”.
Some people like making google docs with basic info and other useful stuff for easier access on mobile. It is a recent trend, it might be easier to edit as opposed to going through tumblr page editor and dealing with the HTML.  You can find some templates here and here.
Tumblr’s activity can be unreliable, so don’t be afraid of contacting your partner to see if they have gotten your reply after a few weeks. However, some people also enjoy using the RP Thread Tracker in order to be on top of things. It might be a good idea to check it out.
Because of Tumblr shadowbanning and shenanigans, it isn’t unusual for people to have NSFW sideblogs (sometimes referred as ‘sin blogs’). If you want to write smut, it might be a good idea to consider making one.
Some people don’t like replying to asks, as Tumblr won’t let you remove the initial ask. It has become common to see people making new posts to reply to asks.  This is a simple example:
Tumblr media
As you can see, I used the mention to have the RP partner notified then I copied and pasted their question on my post and used the quote to indicate it. You can also have fancy graphics, like a line to separate the contents, just do whatever you feel like with the formatting or keep it simple.
To make sure your partner got the answer, I recommend copying the link to the post and pasting on the ask and then replying it privately.  An example sent to my rp blog:
Tumblr media
4.       Basic Etiquette
Ok, this is a little subjective most of the time but here are a few things that are considered universal courtesy.
Never reblog someone else’s headcanons. If you enjoy it, maybe it should politely contact the author and ask if it is ok to write something based on their original idea but you should never downright copy or lift something from another creator. It is considered rude, or even theft in some cases.
Don’t reblog threads you are not involved with. It is ok to leave a like, but never reblog. This is because Tumblr can mess up the notifications and disrupt the flow of the RP.
Don’t copy other people’s graphics. It is very rude and sometimes they commission (aka: paid) for it.
Trim your posts. What does that mean? Every time you reblog with a reply, the post tends to get longer and longer, and it can cluster your and your mutuals’ dashes. This is why the New X-Kit’s “editable reblogs” is an almost must-have tool. If for some reason you can’t install X-Kit (if you are on mobile for example), then remove the previous post or ask your partner to trim for you.
Never take control of your RP partner’s muse. This is called “godmodding” and it is heavily frowned upon. It is ok to control your muse and the possible NPCs that you inserted, but never seize someone else’s character. Likewise, it can also be very upsetting if you use what people call “meta-gaming”, applying knowledge that your muse shouldn’t know about the other. For example, let’s say your RP partner’s muse is a vampire, but they have never disclosed that information to your muse, who also doesn’t have an excuse to know that (for example, being a vampire hunter) so it can be quite jarring sometimes. When in doubt, contact your partner.
This should go without saying, but RPing sexual themes with users under the age of 18 are illegal. It doesn’t matter if the age of consent in your location is lower, once you join Tumblr you are abiding by their user guidelines and the law of the state they are located in. If you are an adult, don’t engage minors with these topics, maybe a fade to black would be a better option. If you are a minor, don’t insist or you might cause a lot of legal problems for others.
Try to tag anything triggering. Violence, gore, NSFW. Both Tumblr and the New Xkit have options to block keywords.
When picking PSDs or graphics for your blog, you should avoid templates that change the color of the skin of POCs muses and try to pick the right race/ethnicity of the muse you are going to RP as. I won’t go through a lot of details, as it is a rather lengthy subject in an already lengthy conversation but keep this in the back of your mind.
Some RPers don’t like when you reblog memes from them without sending anything. Try to always reblog from a source or to interact with the person you are reblogging from, it can be rather disheartening to be seen as a meme source rather than a RP blog. This isn’t a rule and some people don’t mind, but it is always a good idea to try to do this.
This might be more of a pet peeve of mine than proper etiquette, but it is ok to use small font. What is not ok is use small font + underscript. Some people have disabilities that might make it harder for them to read it, so it might be a good idea to refrain from using it. Maybe if you feel like doing something fancier every now and then, but I wouldn’t recommend making this a habit.
Mun and Muse are different entities. Remember that it isn’t because a muse does something (especially a villain one) that the mun condones something. Never assume anything about the mun, when in doubt talk to them.
Be mindful of your partners and treat them the way you would like to be treated.
As a rule of thumb, always talk to your RP partner. It is only fun as long both of you are enjoying it.
5.       Closing Words
This got longer than I expected.
Despite all of that, don’t be too worried about not being very good at first. I assure you that you will get better with time, so don’t be afraid of experimenting as long you feel comfortable. And don’t be afraid of saying “no” if something bothers you.
My inbox is always open to questions and ideas, so feel free to contact me anytime!
I would also ask my followers: there is advice I missed/overlooked? Anything you would like someone have told you when you first started? Add your thoughts so I can update this.
Happy RPing!

Familiar
Tumblr media
Full Name: Cammy (???) FC: Tamamo Cat (FGO) Age: ??? Height: 5′9″ Weight: 160 lbs Cup Size: Unknown, not provided with a bra. Likely EE-F Build: Soft, but slender. Virtually no muscle. Notable Traits: Cat ears, vacant look, huge paws. The strength and speed of ten men, except when directed at her Master.
Personality:
Vapid and bubbly, Cammy’s world revolves around her Master, Izaleth. She would do anything to please her master, and enjoys naps, good food, being called a good girl, and being allowed to sleep in her master’s bed. She possesses some cat mannerisms.
Background:
Cammy is what happens when a customer happens to piss a chaotic evil witch on a day where the witch happens to be particularly horny. Once a man, Cammy no longer remembers exactly what she did, but to be fair, neither does Izaleth. When Izaleth was sick of this customer aggravating her, she simply turned him into the catgirl you see now- insisting that if he serve her well for a month, she would grant him his freedom.
In fact, he was granted freedom, having become a model servant in that time- but it was freedom from his past, and his responsibilities. Mind erased, and soul bound into a contract as Izaleth’s familiar, the now-named Cammy is content with her life! She quite literally could not be happier with her situation! She loves helping her master around the shop, and if Izal ever needs some lubrication on a deal, she’s happy to offer her body as collateral!

Rider of Red
A snippet of what I’ve been working on while studying for midterms. Another AU for Healing Over Time.
@nyakiniega, @maelstrom-kat, @lovingempress, this is for you three. Let’s just say Fate: Apocrypha has been invading my YouTube History and a certain Rider caught my eye. Now if only the Apocrypha event could come to FGO...
“You are quite the strange person, Master.”
“Hm?” The comb in my hand was steady as I lightly patted the yellow-green head lying atop my lap. “What do you mean by that, Achilles?”
The Rider-class Servant rolled his eyes, not even budging from his place on my lap pillow. All he did was simply reach up with his left hand, touching a strand of my hair. From the gesture, I had no choice but to lean into it. “You’re not even a Magus, nor are you a warrior. I’d expect you to ask for a fight.” The smirk on his face was obvious as he tugged at the strand, rubbing it between his fingers. It was hard to tell if the tugging was affectionate or teasing. “Instead you provide a home, food, and even your own lap. If not for knowing how sincere you are, I’d say you’re spoiling me.”
Yep. Teasing it is. Was I that open for it?
“Silly Rider.” I gently brushed the fringe of green hair framing his cheek with my comb, finding it hard to hide the warm smile. “I like doing it and you’re not objecting, so what are you complaining about?”
“Ehhhh, nothing really.” Achilles closed his eyes, a content smile on his face. “Just thinking out loud. After my last few Wars…” he sighed contentedly once I combed out a particularly messy tangle, his breath relaxed and peaceful. “It’s a nice change. To not have to fight.” Achilles paused, shifting a bit so he could look up towards the sky. “Fighting was always something I loved. Hell, there aren’t a lot of things I love more than combat. To rest…” he exhaled, and I couldn’t help but smile down at him. “It is new.”
Another customer satisfied. Hee hee. Outwardly, I teased, “How long did it take you to come to that conclusion, O Legendary Hero?”
Achilles opened one yellow eye to stare at me, unamused. “The first time you called me in with the King of Knights to have lunch post-Summoning. When you had nearly fainted from lack of energy.”
Welp. The nervous giggle on my part wasn’t even intentional. “Are you still holding a grudge for that, Achilles?”
“Tomoko, you are my Master. Of course I’d be more than worried to find you almost drained from accidental summonings of Heroic Spirits. Especially when you are an innocent. Someone who hasn’t even seen that much battle.” He sighed again, this time in exasperation. “For my first real Master, you’re quite the frail one.”
That last sentence made me pause. What do you mean by “first real Master”? But it didn’t feel right to ask. “To be fair,” I angled my comb so that it could catch another tangle in Rider’s yellow-green hair, “I wasn’t expecting to summon a Servant after Saber. And she has quite the appetite, Rider. The first time was supposed to be the only accident.”
“Hm.” Achilles opened his other eye to stare at me. I couldn’t tell what he was thinking from the look in his eyes. They were at least searching. Probing. “Are you saying you don’t want me here?”
“Nope.” I gently brushed some of the spikes in his hair back and shook my head. That was ridiculous. Hero or not, he was my friend. “Don’t say that. Now that you are here, there’s no way I’d want you to leave, Achilles. You silly Rider.” I put down my comb and gently poked the top of his nose. “You’re a dork and a part of this messy family of mine now. So, boop.”
The last part, I left in my thoughts. I love you too much to let you go now, you insufferable hero.
“…Heh,” he smiled, closing his eyes again. “Arturia was right.”
My comb fell limp in my hands as my heart leapt out of my chest. Where did that come from? Better question. “About what?”
Achilles shifted again, his cheek resting against my thighs. I couldn’t help the nagging feeling that he did it so I could have a better reach over his hair. “You have far too big of a heart, Master. I don’t think I’ve ever met such a friendly woman like you in my entire life, even back when I was alive.”
Oh. This topic again. Was kindness so rare in these Heroes’ time periods? I tightened the grip on my comb to reach over and start another stroke over his head. “There are firsts for everything, aren’t there?” A giggle left my lips as he shifted again, opening his eyes to look up at me questioningly. “Oh, Rider. You silly Rider.” I booped his nose again, and the laugh was already bubbling in my throat at the confused look on his face. “Hee hee.”
“Oi. When did this turn into a diss?” Achilles frowned, reaching up to tug at my hair again while batting my booping hand away. “Hell, Master.” Another tug, this time on my hair ribbon. “What are you thinking about?”
“About you,” I said honestly, not even minding my voice raising in pitch once a light pink colored Achilles’s cheeks. It was the truth. And hey. The dorks always found the fastest way into my heart. The man who ran the fastest back in his legend was no different, even as a Servant. “Because y’know?” I brushed his hair again, softer. “I like being with you. Fighting or not. Resting or not.” I booped his forehead, not even minding the heat flooding my face. There was no way I could deny my gut anyways. Or my heart. “So, Achilles?”
“Huh?”
The smile on my face was big enough to make my cheeks hurt. “I love you.”

Couldnt fgo just upgrade its Rating from T to M? christs sake 98% of the women in the game are just Doujin Cover Design 101 already and that would circumvent regs because the regulations are only happening because the childrenz are blowing their parents money on E/T rated lootboxes
I’ve never actually tried to look up an M-rated game on the app store so I dunno what the restrictions are like, but a couple things…
1) M=! AO. An ESRB rating of AO is considered a death sentence for a video game. The line between the two is hazy. However, I would think that the fact that gambling requires a hard legal age limit means that the softer suggestion of M wouldn’t be that useful.
2) Even the ESRB’s ratings are legally meaningless, actually. It’s merely (near-universal) store policy to ID check for games. There’s not actually a law on the books saying you can’t sell Mortal Kombat to ten-year-olds. The ESRB was created to be internal regulation precisely to avoid the law proper stepping in. IIRC movie ratings are similar; not legally binding.
3) And I’m not even sure how relevant all that info is, truthfully. App games aren’t rated by the ESRB, they’re internally rated by the company submitting it to the app store. The process might have changed, but last I checked the submitting company fills out a checklist (ie “does your game have graphic violence? Nudity? Etc”) and it spits out a rating without human intervention unless reports are made.
4) Which…should not be legally binding, if it’s an internal informal set of rules not handled by an independent governing body.
5) And gambling age filters need to be legally binding thanks to the ambiguous legality of gambling across different states. Anime titties are different from gambling.
6) So there would need to be an age verification system. Maybe even some independent verification of that? Unlikely but it depends on how hard legislation comes down on them.
7) So now this company is in a situation where it needs to design and code a whole age verification system so it can keep operating to only sell to a fraction of its previous customers, with its advertising options severely hobbled as well (ie you can’t advertise M-rated stuff on majority-youth content).
8) So their audience just got slashed, their advertising opportunities just got throttled, and they got slapped with the new expense of becoming compatible with age verification.
Who’s gonna keep operating under those conditions? For a business it’s far wiser to just cut their losses and discontinue service in the region. America provides, what, 10% of FGO revenue? And Asia 90%? Yeah, we’re not worth the cost.

How to win: You have to use both male and female servant in order to win this challenge, this will be explained later on in detail below:
The enemy are Orion and the 8 boars.
 Orion
 - Orion has 3 HP gauge, once 1st Hp gauge is 0, she will transform into the Mecha Boar and add 3 bar on small boars' NP gauge
- Orion, at 1st Hp gauge, she has barrier that reduces the damage from female servant(probably more than half damage)
-On 2nd Hp gauge, Mecha Boar has evade enemies' male attack 5 times for 3 turns
-On 3rd Hp gauge, Mecha Boar gains Invincibility Against Divine Enemies' Attacks [Unremovable] 5 Times in 5 Turns, Buff atk. Gains "Attack Up" buff when attacking [3 Turns, Unremovable]

- When each Demon boar is dead, it will add Critical Attack Chance [Permanent, Unremovable] and Critdmgup.png Critical Attack Damage [Permanent, Unremovable]  to Orion(or Mecha Boar)
Trick is to kill demon boar as many as you can before you kill mecha Boar. At Orion 1st Hp gauge, just use male servant to finish her off, 2nd & 3rd Hp gauge is not that much trouble.
Good luch with the challenge, if you like my video just subscribe to my channel for future content.

you know. sometimes i love something a lot so i need to scream about the things that piss me off about it. i don’t think this is a particularly negative post but it’s just like sheer frustration and if you dont get some satisfaction from articulating your frustration into tumbler dot coms longposts and destroying the capital of this website because you are not a gemini sun then like fair i guess feel free to disregard this. tonbokiris kiwame is cool go look at that.
now to the lukewarm tea ive been simmering for five years. the one thing i always think about all the time is that tkrb is a popular game despite itself. the piss poor gameplay with only the barest of bare QoL in the five years its been up, the seeming complete lack of direction and the frankly nonexistent worldbuilding is held up purely because of its attention to detail and reverence to the original culture and history of the swords combined with some very good character design and subtle but nuanced character writing that can be openly interpreted. just enough flavour to imply something larger but chickening out on actually making anything y’know. concrete. basically allowing the fans to draw their own conclusions. but even then a game like that would not survive cause there have been countless, hundreds of games with high quality and fervent attention to detail and respect for the source material that just died completely because they have such little to actually offer in terms of engagement. i think the main thing that bugs me about tkrb is that it has one of THE most creative, dedicated and strong fanbases of this genre of game who go out of their way to engage with any and all of the content and the devs seem kind of oblivious to this.
in comparison to modern gacha style games, touken ranbu releases barely any new content and frequently recycles content but somehow it’s still relatively popular with approx. 1mil active players daily but the maddening thing is that tkrb can reach much MUCH further. the fans are there, the curiosity is there, it’s just the game content is not fucking there. it does not put the effort into commissioning seasonal art, pushing new events with actual plotline/story content, creating promotional materials, tie-ins etc. but somehow its still in the top 5 comiket circles for nearly five fuckin years straight. here are your badley compiled receipts: c89(w2015), c90(s2016), c91(w2016), c92(s2017), c93(w2017), c94(s2018), c95(w2018), c96(s2019)
it can launch itself from laughably low in the appstore ratings, hovering in the middle of the 200′s to TOP 30s in the appstore at the flick of a switch. what is this magic button that fucking quadruples revenue and skyrockets your app into the top 50 grossing apps? 3/4 of your characters getting static CGs that you cannot use at all anywhere in the game but will do a powerpoint transition and appear for 5 seconds at login. oh and like a few free mats i guess. and i kid you not it fuckin worked.
wanna know why that worked? it’s cause otherwise characters, especially fan favourites just don’t get anything at all. it’s like most characters outside of the very popular ones rarely get new art, new recollections, new anything outside of their kiwame upgrade which is more often than not years down the line and only recently, four years in, they decided to add alternate costumes but even then there’s a catch which has me feeling some kind of way.
and yes, i fully understand that tkrb is a multi-media franchise, i get that it’s got its fingers in so many pies like the stageplay, musicals, various manga anthologies, the animes, hell its even got live action but man, would it hurt to give some love in game? i’m not asking them to go full fgo route and commission the industry creme de la creme to make 6 full CE illustrations, lots of promo art and tonnes of new merch every single month. but the fact is for such a big franchise, reusing the same sprite art on nearly every piece of official merch, going so far as to add NEW costume art which is just the heads of the old default sprites edited onto new bodies? it screams cost cutting, it screams lazy, the path of minimum effort. it’s almost like the game itself and the original materials are an absolute afterthought at this point with only the most dedicated hanging on to it. i guarantee that the majority of people still playing tkrb are the committed day1 players and the actual rekijou cause it’s just painfully offputting to new fans, with other fans even going out of their way to specify the game is not integral to enjoying the series which sucks, but it’s true.
its a real damn shame to think that something you are so invested in is not particularly invested in itself. sometimes, just sometimes i wish they dev team for tkrb was more hands-on, more adventurous, more willing to listen to players, invest in the game and genuinely try and make the game the best it can be. i’m not asking for balls to the wall summer events, beautiful animated CMs from the likes of the industries best animators, i’m not asking for pages of supplemental lore compiled into books, character backstory novels or whatever i’m just asking for the lore and the characters that we love to sometimes occasionally be remembered in the actual game outside of like ... the two years between their kiwame and the vague possibility of a recollection. i want to feel like this game puts as much effort into itself as the fans do towards it.
it’s a painful truth but there’s one shining light which is that the fandom for tkrb is genuinely one of the most committed and transformative ones ive ever seen. i have never been involved with a fandom that varies so widely and puts in so much effort for these characters and this world. tkrb exists solely as a popular franchise due to the sheer legwork of the fans carrying it on their backs collaboratively. ultimately, tkrb is very very lore-light, there’s so much thats missing and the characters in-game rarely rarely interact with each other. the characters are contained solely in however many voice lines they get at implementation, their kiwame letters, and their updates kiwame lines and the only interaction they get with other swords is recollections or depending on the sword, the odd custom sparring lines.
but despite that there has been so much fan effort to explore everything in so many different varied ways, and amazingly there are certain tropes, relationships, lore etc. that have started off fanon and become canon. the fan community, especially the fanartists, doujins, writers, animators etc. being given a small indulgence by the anime is one of my favourite things about tkrbs relationship with its fanbase. that’s not to say that the fans dont give back in kind a hundred fold.
there’s so much i love about tkrb fans going out of their way to go SEE historical swords in japan, single-handedly reforging swords using crowdfunding and revitalising lots of small-town tourism having real world impact. shit makes me unbelievably happy. the stage plays and musicals are always met with warm reception and are always well attended and even though its hard to access, there are lots of western fans who have dived into a whole new MEDIUM that most of us arent really familiar with but out of their love for tkrb theyve done that. they have hosted the musical as far out as india and france, making tkrb a truly worldwide franchise and there theyve met full seats! as far out as india! then theres the fantranslators, who always have the drive the commitment and energy for the thankless work, the wiki always always is well maintained and they have new content up so fast, and there are so many people willing to help you out. even when crunchyr*ll got hanamaru s2 (i think) a week late and we were left without subs for the premier episode for a whole ass week, fantranslators who had never subbed before stepped up to translate a whole episode for FREE, encoding, subbing and timing it all despite never having done so just so others could understand the episode faster than cr*nchy themselves could. even, as well, it’s made so many history nerds out of a whole bunch of people, it’s created an appreciation for nihontou and japanese history that would otherwise probably never be in their orbit because of how inaccessible it is, especially in english. even on a personal note, i started learning japanese primarily so i could understand tkrb and the history behind it better and to read jp fanart/interact with fanartists.
no matter what, i am forever warmed by how much i love tkrb and its fanbase and im glad that tkrb is still going strong, even despite itself sometimes and i hope that moving on tkrb tries new things, and becomes better for everyone.
