Part 7 – Why You MUST Build An Email List – And How To Get Started
Here is one of the most important and often overlooked things new bloggers don’t do – growing your email list starting NOW!
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard:
I wish I would have started building my email list sooner.
If you’re not building an email list from Day 1, you’re making a HUGE mistake.
What’s an email list?
You’re probably on a few (or a lot) of email lists. In fact, you’re a part of my ‘Get Started Blogging’ email list where I send you this great blogging information each day.
An email list lets you collect the email addresses of your website visitors so that you can contact them later on.
Why would I want to build an email list?
You might think the most important part of blogging is having people visit your website. Visitors mean more advertising revenue TODAY, right?
Wrong.
While having people visit your website is important, being able to connect with your visitors in the future is ten times more important.
It’s also worth ten times more money.
Pretend for a moment you’ve been blogging for eight weeks and now you have enough content to put together an awesome eBook.
Who are you going to sell it to?
How will you sell it to all those people that have been visiting your blog for the past eight weeks?
How will you get them all to come back so you can tell them about your amazing new eBook?
Unless you have a way to contact them – you can’t.
Email is the #1 way to connect with your readers.
I’ll repeat it because it’s so important:
Email is the #1 way to connect with your readers.
Email is better than:
• Sending a tweet
• Posting to Facebook
• Posting to your blog
• Paid advertising where you pay to advertise your product/service
The reason email is king, is because everyone reads their email. Compare that to a Facebook post where someone may or may not receive it. When was the last time you didn’t at least read the subject of an email before you deleted it? At the very least you saw every email you received.
I hope I have you convinced to start collecting email addresses.
Email lists are the golden egg
Stick with blogging, and you’ll build an email list that has 1,000, 10,000, 100,000 or more names on it.
Say you’ve put your eBook together.
Or you’re a food blogger, and you’ve come across this fantastic new kitchen thermometer that you have to tell everyone about (like my favorite the Thermoworks Super-Fast Instant Digital Thermometer)
Or you’ve got a recommendation for a great $100 product that you get $30 in affiliate commission.
You put together a newsletter and send it out to your list and…
Ca-Ching!
The money starts rolling in.
You’re providing value to your subscribers by telling them about something that is going to:
• solve their pain
• give them pleasure
In return, you earn money for helping them. It’s win-win.
When Katie & I ran our green building training company, we built an email list of over 100,000 paying customers. Each time we would come up with a new product we emailed the list to tell them about it. We were helping them learn new things that would improve their careers (better jobs, more income, promotions).
During new product launches, we could make $10,000 in 48-hours by emailing our list announcing the product.
And remember – as an affiliate you don’t even have to make products. Some bloggers like Pat Flynn over at Smart Passive Income earn over $100,000 in affiliate income each month just by recommending other people’s products.
Choosing an email service provider
Email service providers maintain your email list for you. For instance when a website visitor wants to sign up for your newsletter to stay in touch with you. The provider gives you software tools that let you add the newsletter functionality to your website.

1. MailChimp
2. AWeber
3. ConvertKit
Which one should you use?
MailChimp
MailChimp is free to get started, and it’s free for your first 2,000 subscribers. That’s a deal!
You’ll find some people recommend AWeber. When I first started blogging I used AWeber too. So many other people said ‘use AWeber!‘.
I have a sneaky suspicion why – because AWeber has an affiliate program! People make affiliate income when you sign up with AWeber.
MailChimp doesn’t have an affiliate program. I get paid nothing if you use them.
Remember when I talked about being honest in your product reviews and how that honesty will help build you a loyal fan base? I just gave you an example. Recommending the best product to you (MailChimp) is more important to me than earning an affiliate sale from AWeber.
As someone who has used both products, I found MailChimp to be much easier to use.
ConvertKit is a product with a much higher price point ($79/month). As I’m writing this, I’m evaluating the product. You don’t need to invest in bigger and better services until you start making money blogging.
I’ve been using MailChimp for over a year, and I love it. But my fellow bloggers that have been blogging for a while (2+ years) are moving to ConvertKit. So I’m going to see what all the hype is about.
Keep it simple and free – go with MailChimp.
How To Collect Email Addresses
If you’ve ever signed up for a newsletter – why did you do it? You have to come up with a compelling reason to get a blog visitor to give you their email address.
A reasonable goal I’ve heard from professional email marketers is this:
For every 100 website visitors, you’re doing well if you can get two email addresses.
A 2% conversion rate – that’s your goal. Anything higher and you’re amazing. Anything lower and there is room for improvement.
Getting people to subscribe
To get someone to subscribe to your newsletter you need a compelling reason. Too often I’ve seen bloggers have something like this one their website:
Subscribe to my newsletter
Ask yourself – what would be the reason? There isn’t one. Compare that to this:
Sign up for my monthly newsletter and I’ll send you amazing coupons to save money on your groceries. Plus if you sign up I’ll email you a cookie.
Here’s why it works:
The frequency is clear – The newsletter will be sent monthly, so the subscriber knows when they can expect to hear from you.
You show the benefit of subscribing – Your coupons will save them money. You’re helping them solve a problem – everyone wants more money.
You show personality – Everyone knows you can’t email a cookie. By sounding like a human instead of a boring company, you build a connection with your readers.
Your offer
Come up with an offer to get people to subscribe. It’s been proven if you have a free offer (something of value) people are much more likely to subscribe.
You’ve probably seen plenty of offers, but here are a few to consider:

• How To XYZ In Just 10-Days
• 49 Tips On XYZ
Your offer doesn’t even need to be unique. You can take a blog post or posts you’ve already created and re-package them into a free giveaway.

Collecting emails
Here is a fantastic tool I recommend: SumoMe

Don’t go crazy

I tried all three on my blog when I got started. I have since scaled it back to just having a single popup that appears when someone is leaving my blog. The single popup works well for me based on the results I’ve measured over time.

This is a hard one to measure, but it's important for SEO pros to be able to have an analytical mind that's capable of differentiating correlation and causation.

SEO requires not only confidence but the ability to distill complex ideas and thoughts down into concepts that non-SEO people can understand and make decisions with.
3. Technical & Programming Skills
I'm sure there's going to be some debate about this. I'm equally sure there's tons of SEO pros doing a kickass job right now with no programming knowledge whatsoever.

The truth is, they could be doing even more of a kickass job with some programming knowledge.
As SEO professionals we make recommendations about page speed, rendering, lazy loading, server side redirects, microdata tagging, and basic HTML tags.
All of these conversations go easier if you can speak with the developer and offer insights rather than just demands.
Understanding where the developer is coming from when they push back is amazingly helpful at reconciling differences.
Estimating the level of effort vs. the SEO impact is also key. I'm not saying SEO pros need to be able to write code, but they need to understand the coding implications of the changes they ask for and what that entails for the developers, what the common mistakes and objections are, and even how to overcome them.
There are literally hundreds of crazy technical things that become easier to find with some basic programming knowledge, too. Like lazy loading for example.
Many of the common plugins will use a srcset attribute but not a src attribute for images - and Google won't be able to see those. I know that, because I tested them all and implemented them all - things I couldn't have done without some programming knowledge.
Technical knowledge also provides the ability to make your life easier - whether it's writing a quick Python script to automagically add hreflang to your XML sitemap or a PHP-based web form to automatically create backlinks for you (don't do this.)
4. Social & Drinking Skills
Over the course of my career, I've made so many great relationships and learned so much just by hanging out at the conference bars. To do that, however, you can't be a creep and you have to be able to get along with others.
If you spend your bar time arguing about politics you're going to miss out. You'll also need to be able to hold your liquor or respectfully decline - as many great SEO professionals love to drink.
Reminder: the conference bar is never the place to look for a new girlfriend/boyfriend but it's a great place to talk about SEO theory and tactics.
Nobody wants to hear about that one specific problem that only applies to your site and takes 10 minutes to explain (unless you're buying the drinks). However, they will love to hear about new and exciting things you've seen or done.
5. Analytics Skills
SEO professionals can save a lot of time if they can log into Adobe or Google Analytics and pull their own data.
A basic understanding of business KPIs is also required for proper SEO strategy.
I offer my teams the opportunity to get Adobe and Google Analytics certified because even if they aren't pulling the data, the understanding helps - but also, most of the time we end up pulling the data.
If you aren't able to pull and segment data, you're likely missing out on some insights.
6. Excel Skills
Pulling the data isn't enough. Sometimes you need to manipulate it a bit to get the insights you need.
I've met a lot of SEO pros who can't do the simplest tasks in Excel.
Vlookups, Concatenates, and IF statements (among literally 473 other functions - seriously there's 476 built-in Excel functions) should be part of every SEO's toolset.
Over the course of my career, I've created countless Excel templates that help solve everyday problems.
Whether it's turning a Screaming Frog crawl into an XML sitemap, measuring algorithm changes and their impact with GA/Adobe data, creating custom CTR by position curves, or quickly bucketing keywords from search console into brand/non-brand or by product groups, Excel is invaluable.
7. Drive, Motivation & Adaptability
The thing I both love and hate about working in SEO is that it doesn't just turn off at 5 p.m.
Marketing isn't one of those jobs that you leave at the office every night. It stays with you in your brain.
To truly be a great at SEO these days you have to have the internal drive that forces you to keep learning.
Whether it's a new programming language, a new framework (WordPress, React, Angular, etc), a new search engine standard like Schema or AMP, or understanding machine learning, there's always something to learn.
The candidates who jump to the top of my hiring list are the ones who have their own side project websites or who create their own tools to solve their problems. For example: using the webmaster tools API to automate data pulling and formatting for reports. I just hired that person.
SEO also requires adaptability and thick skin. Our industry changes, and sometimes we have to admit to clients that directory submissions, PageRank sculpting, link disavows, or other things we once recommended aren't really the best idea anymore.
It's about putting the client's goals first - sometimes ahead of SEO revenue opportunities. (I told you I was going to start an argument in the tweets leading up to this article.)
8. A Sense of Humor
We deal with a lot of ups and downs in the SEO industry - and often at a fast pace.
It's important to sometimes take a step back and remember that we aren't saving lives, we're just doing marketing.
As stressful as the job can be, most of it can wait til tomorrow. A sense of humor goes a long way toward making our jobs a lot more enjoyable and productive.

Choosing a Web Designer That's SEO-Friendly
With Internet marketing and search engine optimization (SEO) now essential components to owning a business website, most web designers are adding SEO to their arsenal of capabilities.
The concern is that most of these self-proclaimed SEO/web designers fail to fully understand the complete picture of organic SEO. The techniques to effectively optimize a website are drastically evolving. And although anyone can do keyword research and write meta tags and page copy, many website designers miss the mark with SEO via a site's back-end.

Whether you're thinking of hiring a solo designer or full-service web design company, it is imperative that your provider knows what he or she is doing if SEO is involved. In essence, respecting the SEO-friendly elements of a website is a must during the web design process.
In this article, we cover a few specific areas that web designers (or companies hiring a web designer) need to be conscious of when building a well-optimized website.
Search Friendly CMS
Many website providers design their sites around a CMS platform or content management system like WordPress or Drupal. CMS software usually includes 'plug-ins' for SEO which enable users to write custom URLs, page titles, and meta descriptions. Although these SEO elements are important to have keyword optimized per page, a search friendly CMS goes well beyond what a SEO plug-in can provide.
The real difference maker in having a SEO-friendly CMS centers on the coding structure of the website. Some web designers, although creative, will utilize very graphic intensive concepts that can diminish a site's SEO potential. Others are effective at balancing aesthetics with minimal, search-friendly coding.
Below are some considerations while utilizing a CMS for your optimized website:
Look for content management systems that use CSS style sheets (as opposed to nestled tables). This allow search engine spiders to crawl and index your site's content more efficiently.
Choose a CMS that allows you to place internal links and navigation on the site in specific areas, such as the footer or column. Some platforms and web design templates may limit where you can place links, which is huge consideration for SEO.
Stray away from CMS platforms that automatically created static URLs for each page. Always choose a CMS that allows users to write dynamic, keyword optimized URLs for each page (which is often times achievable through a plug-in).
See if the content management system allows for automatic XML sitemap creation. If it doesn't, ask you web designer if he or she will be creating and submitting the XML sitemap manually. These points you may want to consider as potential questions for your future web design team, especially if you intend on using a content management system to operate your site.
Back-End Code Structure
The process of designing a well-optimized site should focus on the back-end structure of the website's code, or HTML. This includes website elements that are visible on the page (such as the content or page copy) as well as elements that off the page (such as meta data). The way in which the code is structured, in addition to the types of code being used, can ultimately impact SEO performance.
The two primary off-page elements that hold the greatest weight for SEO is the page title and meta description. The page title and meta description should be scripted as early as possible in HTML of each page. The title in particular (which defines a page and always include a keyword reference for SEO) is most important. A website designer or developer will want to ensure that the search engine spiders hit the page title as one of the first bits of code in which it crawls.
Similarly, the on-page content of a webpage should also be presented as early as possible in the code. The body copy is the pages' bread and butter for SEO, and if this content is at the bottom of the page's back-end, the spider crawls it last (which is not the best for SEO). Skilled web designers and developers are able to use 'div' tags to show the content early in the HTML, even though a bunch of navigation links may be above the content as it's shown on the page.
These coding variables may also depend on the content management system that is being used. For this reason, it is important to have a good understanding of just how SEO-friendly your CMS is, as well as your web designer's coding capabilities.
Choose a Web Design Company Wisely
If you are seeking a web design company for both the design and SEO of your site, do not be bashful. That is, don't hesitate to ask your prospects a lot of questions. Some areas you might want to address are the provider's technical skills, such as his or her HTML coding capabilities, as well as their graphic design skills. How to Build a WooCommerce Store With Elementor
Elementor and WooCommerce make it easy to create an online store. In this tutorial, I'll show you how to use WooComerce, WordPress, and Elementor to build an online store complete with products, categories, and an Amazon-style dropdown menu.
Why WooCommerce?
WordPress is one of the world’s most popular blogging platforms, but countless businesses also use WordPress to sell their products and services.
With a little help from the WooCommerce ecommerce plugin, you can use WordPress to sell digital and physical goods, and collect payments via popular payment gateways including PayPal and Stripe. 
Today, 29% of the top million websites use WooCommerce, and big names such as the All Blacks, L.A. Weekly and AeroPress all rely on this popular WordPress eCommerce plugin.
While WordPress and WooCommerce provide everything you need to launch a successful eCommerce store, you may want more control over how your store looks.
In this two-part series, I’ll show you how to build a professionally-designed online store using WordPress, WooCommerce and Elementor. 
In this post, we'll setup Elementor and WooCommerce, and create an online store complete with products, categories, and an Amazon-style dropdown menu. Then, in the next post, we'll redesign WooCommerce's product archive and product pages, using your choice of Elementor Pro templates.
By the end of this tutorial, you'll be ready to go live with a professionally-designed eCommerce store. 
What We’ll Be Building
Elementor is a flexible tool that gives you several ways to design your eCommerce store. You could use one of Elementor Pro’s built-in templates, upload additional third-party templates, or even build your own eCommerce template from scratch. In this series, we’ll be covering all three options!
By the end of this tutorial, you’ll have created a custom product page and product archive, using Elementor Pro’s built-in templates. 
The product page and product archive are two pages that WooCommerce generates automatically, but the stock design should be adapted to suit your store's branding and features. I’ll show you how to quickly and easily customize these default pages, using Elementor Pro’s built-in templates. 
In the follow-up post, we'll use a themed collection of templates to create unique product pages, a product archive, and a themed header that appears across your entire eCommerce store. 
If you have a specific vision in mind, then I'll also show you how to bring that vision to life, by creating your own Elementor template. 
Elementor: Build an eCommerce Store With Zero Code
The first step is adding Elementor to your WordPress website. 
The core Elementor plugin is free to download and provides access to more than 40 widgets and over 30 templates. However, since we’re working with WooCommerce you’ll need to invest in an Elementor Pro subscription. 
Unlike the free version of Elementor, Elementor Pro provides a dedicated WooCommerce Builder, plus some important ecommerce-themed widgets such as Add to Cart, Product Rating and Related Products.
If you want to stick with the free Elementor plugin, then this tutorial will help you master the Elementor user interface and the core workflows you’ll need to build beautifully-designed pages, websites, blogs and online stores. However, you will need an Elementor Pro subscription in order to complete all sections of this tutorial. 
How to Add Elementor to Your WordPress Website
Elementor Pro requires the free version of Elementor. If you haven’t already installed this free plugin, then you’ll need to add it to your website:
Log into your WordPress account, if you haven’t already. 
In WordPress’s left-hand menu, select Plugins > Add New.
Search for the Elementor plugin.
When the plugin appears, select Install Now > Activate.
We can now upgrade to Elementor Pro:
Head over to the Elementor website, and purchase Elementor Pro, if you haven’t already. You should receive a purchase confirmation email. 
On the Elementor website, log into your account using the details contained in your confirmation email. 
Select Download plugin, and Elementor Pro will be downloaded as a ZIP file. 
Log into your WordPress website. 
In the left-hand menu, select Plugins > Upload Plugin.
Click Choose file and then select the ZIP file you just downloaded.
Select Install Now > Active.
When prompted, click Connect & Activate and follow the onscreen instructions to activate your Elementor Pro license.
Elementor Pro is now ready for you to use! 
WooCommerce: How to Install WordPress’ Free eCommerce Plugin 
Next, I’ll show you how to design, build and launch an online eCommerce store, using Elementor and WooCommerce.
If you haven’t already added the free WooCommerce plugin to your website, then now’s your chance:
Log into your WordPress website.
Navigate to Plugins > Add New.
Search for WooCommerce. When this plugin appears, select Install Now > Activate.
You should now see the Welcome to WooCommerce screen; click Yes please to start the setup process.
On the subsequent screen, enter your postal address and then click Continue.
WooCommerce will now ask some questions about your industry and products, and whether you already have an online or physical store. 
After answering all of WooCommerce’s questions, you can choose a theme for your online store. We’ll be customizing our store using Elementor, so just select any free theme and then click Continue.
You’ll now be prompted to activate the Jetpack and WooCommerce Services plugin. This plugin will help protect your website against brute force attacks, and can also deliver a performance boost, so it’s recommended that you activate Jetpack unless you have a specific reason not to.
Congratulations, you’ve just successfully installed WooCommerce! 
WooCommerce has lots of settings, including some that are essential for running a successful online store, such as specifying whether you accept PayPal, Stripe, or Direct Bank Transfer.
Configuring your WooCommerce store is beyond the scope of this tutorial, but you can explore all of WooCommerce’s settings, by selecting WooCommerce > Settings from WordPress’ left-hand menu.

Stock Those Shelves: Creating Your First WooCommerce Product
In this tutorial, we’ll be creating various layouts so it’s important you test these layouts as you’re building them.
If you already have a catalog of WooCommerce products, then you can use these products to see exactly how your store will look once it’s fully-stocked. However, if you’re building your very first store, then I’d recommend taking a few minutes to create a handful of products that you can use in your layouts.
To create a product, select Products > Add New from WordPress’ left-hand menu. 
You can now open the Product data dropdown and specify the kind of product that you want to create: 
Simple product. This is any product that’s shipped and has no options. 
Grouped Product. This is a collection of related products that all fall into the simple product category. 
External/Affiliate product. This is a product that’s sold elsewhere, but is featured on your website. 
Variable product. This is a product that has variations, for example a jacket that’s available in different sizes and colors. 
For the purposes of this tutorial, I’ll be creating a Simple Product:
Give your product a name and write a short description. 
You can now assign this product to a product category, for example if you’re creating a clothing store then your categories might include Hoodies & Sweatshirts, Occasionwear, and Shoes & Boots. Assuming that you want to create a new category, scroll to the Product categories section and select Add new category.
Give your category a name, and then click Add new category.
In the Product categories section, select the category that you just created.
Already know all the categories that you want to feature on your website? You can implement all of these categories in advance, by repeating the above steps. You may also want to separate your categories into parent and child categories, for example I’m creating a Kitchen parent category and assigning it the following child categories: Bar stools, Dining chairs and Kitchen stools.
In Product tags, enter all the tags that you want to use, and then click Add.
Next, add a featured image by scrolling to Product Image and then selecting Set product image.
Choose the image that best represents your product. 
Do you have multiple images that you want to use for this particular product? You can create a product gallery, by scrolling to the Product gallery section, selecting Add product gallery images, and then choosing the images that you want to use. 
In the Product Data section, make sure General is selected.
In Regular price, enter how much this product should cost. 
Next, select the Inventory tab. 
In SKU, enter this product’s Stock Keeping Unit, which is the number you’ll use to track this product in your inventory. 
Select the Enable stock management at product level checkbox.
In Stock quantity, enter the number of units that you currently have in stock. 
WooCommerce can email you when you’re running low on stock. If you want to receive these low stock notifications, then enter the desired value into Low stock threshold. You’ll now receive an email as soon as your stock reaches this threshold.  
In the left-hand menu, select Shipping.
In Weight, enter this product’s weight. 
In Dimensions, enter the product’s length, width and height. 
When you’re happy with the information you’ve entered, click Publish.
To see the product you’ve just created, select View Product.
Rinse and repeat to create multiple products. To really put your layouts to the test, you should try to create a variety of products, spanning multiple categories. 
Organize Your Store With Product Categories
After creating all your products, it’s worth taking a few minutes to review your product categories.
By taking stock of all the categories you've created, you can identify any categories that need grouping into a parent category, or you might realize that you’ve forgotten to create a few important categories.
To review your categories, select Product > Categories from WordPress’ left-hand menu.
I’ve already created a Kitchen parent category that features my Bar stools, Dining chairs and Kitchen stools child categories, but now I’m going to create some additional parent categories: Office, Bedroom, Living Room and Garden.
To create a parent category:
In Add New Category, enter the name of the parent category that you want to create.
Make sure Parent category is set to None.
Click Add new category.
Find the first child category that you want to assign to this parent category, and then select the child’s accompanying Edit link.
Open the Parent category dropdown and select the parent category that you just created.
Click Update.
Rinse and repeat for every child category that you want to assign, and every parent category that you want to create. 
Creating an Amazon-Style Product Menu
Next, I’m going to give customers the ability to filter products based on product category. In this section, we’ll build a dropdown menu, where selecting a parent category displays all the child categories associated with that parent.
This kind of parent/child product menu is a staple of many eCommerce sites, including heavyweights such as Amazon and eBay. By adding this kind of product menu to your eCommerce site, you can give visitors a familiar way to explore everything that your store has to offer. 
By default, it’s not possible to add product categories to a WordPress menu. Before building our menu, we need to edit these default settings: 
In WordPress’ left-hand menu, select Appearance > Menus.
Towards the top of the screen, find the Screen options section, and click to expand.  
Find Product categories, and select it.
You can now add product categories to your menus, so let’s create our menu:
Give your menu a name, and then click Create new menu.
Click to expand the Product categories section.
Select all the product categories that you want to add to your menu.
Click Add to menu. All of the selected parent and child categories will now be added to the Menu structure section. 
Since we’re creating a dropdown menu, you need to grab each child category and drop it beneath its associated parent category.
Next, grab each child category and drag it slightly to the right, so that it appears indented beneath its parent. Release the child category, and it should now be permanently indented.
Repeat this indenting process for every child category. 
If you want to change where an item appears in your menu, then grab it in Menu structure and drop it into a new location. 
When you’re happy with how your menu is setup, click Save Menu.
To place this menu on your website, click the Manage Locations tab. 
Assuming that you want this menu to appear across your entire website, open the Top Menu dropdown and select the menu that you just created.
Click Save Changes.
This parent/child menu will now appear across your eCommerce store, making it easy for customers to explore your product categories. 
Designing a WooCommerce Store With Elementor Pro
At this point, you have all the elements that you need for a successful eCommerce store: a WooCommerce installation, some products, and a menu that visitors can use to explore your store.
However, there’s one final piece of setup that we need to perform. By default, you can only use Elementor to design posts and pages, and not products. 
Before we move onto the next section, we need to extend Elementor’s capabilities to include WooCommerce products: 
In WordPress’ left-hand menu, select Elementor > Settings.
In Post Types, select Products.
Select Save Changes.
You can now use Elementor to design customized product pages—so let’s get started! 
Using Elementor Pro’s Ready-Made Templates
Elementor provides a range of templates that can give your website a completely new look and feel, and sometimes even add extra functionality. These professionally-designed templates can take much of the work out of building an eCommerce store, so let’s start by exploring these pre-built templates. 
In this section, I’ll show you how to customize two pages that WooCommerce creates automatically: your product archive and product pages. 
Redesigning WooCommerce’s Single Product Page
Product pages are how visitors view and ultimately purchase your products, so it’s vital they look good and provide all the functionality your customers need. 
Elementor Pro has a range of product page templates, so let’s put these templates to good use:
In WordPress’ left-hand menu, select Templates > Theme Builder.
Select the Add New button.
Open the Template type dropdown and select Single Product.
Give your template a name, and then click Create Template.
Elementor Pro will now display all the available Single Product templates; select the template that you want to use.
This template will now open in the Elementor editor. At this point, you can make changes to your chosen template, but for now we’ll just go ahead and publish our chosen template: 
In the Elementor Panel, select Publish.
In the subsequent popup, open the Include dropdown and make sure Products is selected. 
Click Save & Close.
This template will now be rolled out across all your product pages. 
Building a Custom WooCommerce Product Archive
The product archive is a list containing all your products in a single location. When you setup WooCommerce, this plugin added a product archive to your website automatically, although the archive’s look and feel will vary depending on your WordPress theme. 
Not a fan of this automatically-generated product archive? You can quickly and easily give it a makeover, using any of Elementor’s product archive templates:
In WordPress’ left-hand menu, select Templates > Theme Builder.
Select the Add New button.
Open the Template type dropdown and select Product Archive.
Give your template a name, and then click Create Template.
Elementor Pro will now display all the available Product Archive templates; select the template that you want to use.
Your chosen template will now open in the Elementor editor.
If you’re happy with your chosen template, then you can publish it by clicking the green Publish button. 
In the subsequent popup, open the Include dropdown and select All Product Archives. 
Click Save and close.
This updated product archive will now appear on your website. 
Conclusion 
In post, we created a complete online store. This WooCommerce site has everything you need to start selling products, all wrapped up in your choice of Elementor Pro's professionally-designed templates.

How to Double Your Conversions with the Same Amount of Traffic

In the world of digital marketing, traffic gets a lot of attention. In fact, it seems like you can’t go anywhere online without reading a traffic metaphor invoking red and green lights, rush hour, and things of that nature.
Don’t get me wrong. Traffic is important. But ultimately, it’s not the amount of traffic you get that will determine the success of your business.
Conversions are the name of the game.
And guess what? I have good news for you. You can stop beating your head against a wall trying to figure out how to get more people to your site. Instead, I’m going to show you how to take the traffic you already have and increase your conversions to grow your business.
Buckle up and let’s hit the road! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.)
Simplify Your Forms
There’s lots of evidence showing that simple forms get more conversions than complex form. In fact, removing a single field from your form could boost your conversions by as much as 26%.
As of 2020, the average number of fields for online forms is five. I recommend paring your forms down to include only the information you need. In many cases, you will need only the lead’s email address and first and last names.
That said, you shouldn’t hesitate to ask for additional information if it is necessary. The idea is to make your forms easy to complete to minimize the risk of a potential lead becoming annoyed and navigating away before they have submitted the form.
Add a Pop-Up to Your Site
Pop-ups have a bad reputation, but I think it’s largely an unfair reputation. Why? Because some annoying folks overdo it, setting up repeated and intrusive pop-ups that lead to frustration and irritation.
The key is to add a single pop-up to encourage people to sign up for your list or fill out a lead form. You should time it to appear 30 seconds or a minute after a visitor lands on your page. That way, they’ll have time to read some of your content before it appears. An alternative is to trigger the pop-up when a lead scrolls to a certain point on your page.
For the best results, test multiple offers to get people to fill out your lead form and then stick with the one that gets the best results. Also, make it extremely easy for people to close out of the pop-up, but make sure to have a static call to action on the page where they can get your offer later if they want to.
Eliminate Excess Content
A lot of businesses make the mistake of using the “everything but the kitchen sink” approach to web design. They have a lot of bells and whistles on their landing pages and they don’t realize that much of the content serves as a distraction from the main objective: conversion.
The best way to identify content that’s not serving your goals is to use a heat map or a click map. You’ll be able to spot the sections of your page that aren’t grabbing visitors’ attention.
The goal should be a simple, focused page with a clean, easy-to-navigate design. Making simplicity your target will make it easier for potential leads to learn what they need to know about your product or service and to get to the point where they’re ready to fill out your form.
Add a Third-Party Signup Service
You have probably noticed that a lot of websites have an option allowing visitors to sign in using a third party. The most common options are Facebook and Google.
I understand the desire to have customers create a unique log-in for your sitebut allowing them to use an existing account to sign in removes a potential obstacle to conversion. 86% of web users say they’re bothered by having to create a new account.
Social log-ins simplify the conversion process. You can add a social log-in using a simple plugin such as Facebook Login to your WordPress site. Research shows that using social log-in can increase your conversions by up to 20%.
Improve Your Call to Action
There’s nothing wrong with a simple call to action. After all, “Sign Up” and “Subscribe” can get the job done. The problem is, they’re just not exciting.
One easy way to increase your conversions is to spice up the calls to action on your site. Here are some suggestions and statistics:
Turning your CTA from a link to a button can increase conversions by 45%.
Adding an arrow to direct people to your CTA can increase click rates by 26%.
Using first-person wording (Schedule my free consultation) can increase conversions by as much as 90%.
Putting your CTA below the fold (meaning below the part of the page that visitors can see without scrolling) can increase your conversions.
One explanation for the last statistic is that people prefer to learn as much as they can about an offer before completing a form.
Address Potential Objections
It’s a marketing truism that your content must overcome obstacles in a potential customer’s mind to make a sale. That’s just as true when the goal is conversion as it is for sales.
Ask yourself what the most common objections to filling out your form are. Some may be solved by programming – for example, by reducing the number of fields in your form. However, some may be issues that you haven’t addressed on your page.
Here are some examples:
Overcome a price-related objection by offering a money-back guarantee.
Overcome fears about a product’s effectiveness by adding reviews and testimonials to your page.
Overcome FOMO objections by comparing your product directly to other options on the market.
You get the idea, I hope. The more you can do to alleviate potential concerns up front – before a potential client completes your form – the more likely it is that you’ll see a jump in your conversion numbers.
Does any of this mean that you shouldn’t try to attract more traffic? Of course not. But you may find that you get better results if you use the methods I’ve outlined here to convert more of the traffic you’re already getting.
