Built for Complexity | How Industrial Estimating Service Handles Custom Manufacturing Projects
Introduction: The Complexity of Custom Manufacturing Projects Custom manufacturing projects are often among the most challenging in the industrial construction sector. Unlike standard builds, these projects involve unique designs, specialized materials, and processes that may not be readily available in off-the-shelf cost databases. Each project brings its own set of variablesâoften with tight schedules and high demands for precision. This is where industrial estimating services come into play, providing the expertise and tools needed to deliver accurate cost forecasts, no matter how complex the project.
Understanding the Challenges of Custom Manufacturing Custom manufacturing projects typically involve the construction of facilities or systems tailored to specific needs, such as custom machinery, production lines, or specialized storage systems. These projects donât always fit neatly into predefined categories, which makes estimating their costs particularly tricky. The lack of readily available benchmarks for labor, materials, and equipment means estimators must dig deeper to gather accurate data, assess unique risks, and account for variability in the construction process.
The Role of Industrial Estimating Service in Custom Projects Industrial estimating services play a critical role in ensuring that custom manufacturing projects are properly scoped, budgeted, and executed. Estimators rely on a combination of historical data, industry expertise, and sophisticated estimating tools to account for the unique requirements of each project. They assess design drawings, review material specifications, and factor in the intricacies of the production process to arrive at cost estimates that reflect the projectâs true scope and complexity.
Detailed Scope Analysis and Custom Material Costs Custom manufacturing projects often require specialized materials that may not have standard pricing available in cost databases. Estimators take the time to analyze material specifications, identify alternative options, and gather quotes from suppliers to ensure that the cost of materials is accurately reflected in the estimate. They may also assess the long-term costs of certain materials, such as maintenance requirements or supply chain challenges, to provide a more comprehensive financial outlook.
Handling Non-Standard Labor Requirements One of the most significant challenges in custom manufacturing projects is managing labor costs. These projects often require skilled labor or specialized subcontractors with expertise in custom processes or equipment. Industrial estimating services evaluate the labor market, assess wage rates for specific skill sets, and account for the potential need for overtime or specialized training. This ensures that the labor component of the estimate is both realistic and aligned with project requirements.
Accounting for Unique Equipment and Tools Custom projects frequently involve unique or specialized equipment, from advanced machinery to custom-designed tools and fixtures. Estimating these costs is far more complex than simply applying standard equipment rental rates. Estimators must account for the cost of acquiring, maintaining, or leasing such equipment, as well as any potential downtime associated with custom tools. In some cases, they may need to work with equipment manufacturers to determine accurate pricing or cost projections for these items.
Risk Assessment and Contingency Planning The nature of custom manufacturing projects often leads to unforeseen challengesâwhether itâs unexpected site conditions, delays in material delivery, or the need for rework due to design changes. Industrial estimating services help mitigate these risks by incorporating contingency allowances into their estimates. They conduct a thorough risk assessment to identify potential challenges that could impact the projectâs timeline and budget. By factoring in these uncertainties, they provide a more reliable financial forecast, which helps stakeholders make informed decisions about project feasibility and budgeting.
Timeline Sensitivity and Cost Efficiency In custom manufacturing projects, timelines are often tight, and any delays can significantly impact overall costs. Industrial estimating services evaluate the project schedule in relation to the scope and complexity of the work, considering factors like lead times for custom materials, labor availability, and equipment procurement. They incorporate these time-sensitive factors into their estimates, ensuring that the project is planned efficiently from a cost perspective. By optimizing the timeline and identifying opportunities to streamline construction, estimators help reduce costs and keep the project on track.
Integration of Technology for Enhanced Accuracy To handle the complexities of custom manufacturing projects, industrial estimating services increasingly rely on advanced technology. Software tools and Building Information Modeling (BIM) platforms allow estimators to visualize the project in greater detail, integrate different design elements, and identify potential cost-saving opportunities. These tools provide a more accurate picture of the projectâs scope, helping estimators refine their forecasts and catch potential issues before construction begins. Additionally, digital tools can analyze historical project data to inform more accurate pricing for custom materials and processes.
The Importance of Communication Between Stakeholders A successful custom manufacturing project requires coordination between various stakeholders, including the design team, contractors, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers. Industrial estimating services ensure that all parties are aligned by providing clear, detailed cost breakdowns and communicating any uncertainties or risks associated with the estimate. This transparency helps prevent misunderstandings and ensures that all stakeholders have a clear understanding of the budget and timeline.
Providing Value Engineering Alternatives In custom manufacturing, budget constraints are common, and finding ways to reduce costs without compromising quality is crucial. Industrial estimating services often work closely with the design team to identify value engineering alternatives that can reduce costs. These might include suggesting alternative materials, adjusting the scope of certain features, or proposing changes to construction methods that maintain the integrity of the design while offering cost savings. This value-driven approach helps ensure that custom manufacturing projects are both financially viable and high-quality.
Conclusion: Precision and Flexibility for Custom Manufacturing Success Custom manufacturing projects present unique challenges, but industrial estimating services are equipped to handle the complexity. By leveraging specialized knowledge, advanced technology, and real-time data, estimators ensure that these projects are properly budgeted, efficiently executed, and financially viable. Whether itâs managing specialized materials, labor, equipment, or risk, industrial estimating services help turn custom manufacturing challenges into opportunities for success.

Fic: To Etch the Stars in Your Eyes
For @meljaymicrofics Day 11: Like a Star by Corinne Bailey Rae
Relationships: Jayce Talis/Mel Medarda
Rating: G
Summary: Dates, even in the early stages of a relationship, don't always go according to plan. When a downpour washes plans but unveils something more intimate
Meljay college AU feat. art student!Mel and engineering student!Jayce
word count: 1359
The weatherman lied. Oftimes Jayce complained they were of the few people who could consistently be incorrect about what the weather forecast would be and yet still keep their job over many years.
Mel understood the sentiment. In those instances, she would nudge Jayce by his side with a thin smile and try to rationalize the predictability, or lack thereof, in weather reporting.
However as they bolted from their car to The Last Drop, Mel was at her limit, inclined to side with Jayce tonight. Her hair was sopping wet and clothes clung to her sickeningly. Almost as disturbing as the sloshing of water she felt in her shoes in each step.
Really thought she stepped over that puddle far enough, but perception was askew in the torrential downpours, it seemed.
Tugging Jayce all the while to get out of the rain as fast as possible, the couple rushed through the front door and before Vander could as so much say a greeting to the chime, let alone comment on the state of their dress, Mel rushed out a âHiâ byeââ before taking the steps two at a time to her apartment upstairs.
Vanderâs curious gaze followed them while absentmindedly drying off the glass cup he was cleaning at the time.
âLet me get another round, my good sir!â
âAh- yeah. On it,â he confirmed to the customer before stealing one last look at Mel and the man she brought with her.
****
âWhew! I never thought we would have ever made it out of that mess alive. That was a disaster.â Finally back in her space, a small studio she rented out from Vander while she was attending University of Piltover, Mel rushed about closing the door behind them and tidying up any residual articles she wished to organize.
Meanwhile, Jayce remained by the entrance mat to Melâs studio, as if almost afraid to move or make himself comfortable in her space.
Only when Mel realized he was completely stationary, did she pause her tornadoing in organization and check on him with bleeding concern.
âIâm sorry, Mel,â he mumbled sheepishly. Any higher and the threat of his voice cracking would be imminent.
âFor what?â
âWe were supposed to have a nice date night out and it completely washed. Literally and figuratively,â he muttered.
âItâs not like you control the weather,â Mel joked. Pressing her lips against his, she smiled into the kiss. âAnd I had a lovely time, make no mistake. The night is still young. We can still have the rest of the night to ourselves. Thoughââ Melâs face pinched as if her nose caught onto an offensive odor. âClean and dry clothes take priority. Okay?â
Jayce finally allowed himself to pull his shoulders from his ears and smile. âOkay.â
âNow do you want to use the shower first? Or shall I?â
âItâs your place, Mel. You go ahead.â
âAnd youâre my guest.â
Counterpoints darted back and forth as a childish debate until Mel eventually relented, pulling spare clean clothes for the both of them. Jayce took a seat on the couch with a towel laid out under him.
âAlso pay no mind to Elora in case she comes out,â Mel called from the bathroom. âA bit, err, enthusiastic at times and certainly too smart for her own good.â
Jayceâs head twitched in curiosity. âWait. Elora? Whoââ At that point the question lingering on his tongue was drowned out by the running water in the room next door.
Drumming his fingers against his thighs, Jayce looked around with interest, taking in this being the first time heâs visited Melâs studio. For an art student, and all the projects she had lined up, Jayce was almost surprised how neat and organized the layout was, especially for a tiny space. University residency was brutal in the heart of the city.
Themes of black, white and gold were consistent elements throughout her choice in decoration with a couple of plants on the shelves by the window. Jayce squinted in studying them afar then relaxed into a soft chuckle at the drawn conclusion they were fake.
Coming from the bathroom, Jayce picked up the soft hums of a melody unfamiliar to him. It was beautiful, soothing, and enticed him to lean back on the couch and get swept away by Melâs song. Didnât know she could sing. Right as he laid on the precipice of doing so, several chirps playing with Melâs song startled him.
They werenât coming from the bathroom. The chirps were much much closer. Perched on the opposite side of the couch, a small white and brown bird harmonized with Melâs humming.
Elora, Jayce presumed.
The bird did their own thing, bopping their head and hopping along the couch playfully, eliciting laughter from Jayce.
And thenâ Jayce slowly began to understand the weight of Melâs warning earlier when she spoke of Elora's enthusiasm.
The bird got bold.
Following a couple bounces in momentum, Elora launched herself from the couch, hopping around the multitude of shelves and furniture Mel had arranged in her studio.
Jayce hissed for Elora to come back to him. Stay contained in the bubble constructed only in his mind containing the couch the two were previously having fun on. Elora seemed skilled in the art of selective hearing, choosing to pay no mind to Jayceâs desperate calls for her, in that moment more attracted to the obstacle courses of art supplies.
With Mel still freshening herself up, Jayce grit his teeth taking the initiative to reel Elora in and make sure she didnât get overzealous, potentially messing up any of Melâs art assignments.
A 6â1â well-built man chasing after a nimble pet bird through a studio apartment was a scenario straight out of a sitcom as Jayceâs efforts were nothing short of a disaster. Several minutes attempting to reel Elora was a positively fruitless endeavor. She ultimately dove through the gap between his hands just to land back in her cage, seemingly tired of the perceived teasing.
Jayce caught his breath and hung his head only to bristle at the chaotic path of destruction he aided in creating. Swearing under his breath, Jayce rushed to right the tipped over paintings then the opened series of sketchbooks sprawled about.
One by one they were carefully stacked to a neat tower on the coffee table. Doing a final walkthrough of the former mess, Jayce stopped in his tracks catching a notebook partially slid under a folded easel. Releasing it from its trap, Jayce froze.
âHey Jayce, bathroomâs free for you toâ Oh,â muttering a swear. Shit.
âMel?â Turning to his girlfriend, Jayce remained wide-eyed and slack jawed, torn between processing the woman before him or the contents of the sketchbook. âYou⌠you sketched⌠me?â
Gnawing on her lower lip, taking careful steps toward Jayce, Mel smiled faintly. âFrom an outsiderâs perspective, being an art student may look like fun and games. Messing with paints, designs, creative styles and other mediums. However, forcing art can often burn out as a shooting star crashing to earth.â
Once by Jayceâs side, she allowed him to flip the next several pages of her sketchbook. Covering the pages were different poses and candid expressions of Jayce running the gamut of joy, anger, sadness, and frustration. âBut with you, it flows through as naturally as breathing.â
Setting the sketchbook aside, Jayce intertwined his fingers with hers. âYou have a gift, Mel. These sketches⌠all of your art, really, is inspiring.â
Slowly, yet deliberately, Mel slipped one of her hands free from Jayceâs in favor of sliding it up his chest. Leaning in halfway, her breath hitched.
In that moment, Jayce moved in closer, sealing the gap between their lips.
When the seal broke, Jayce traced a mindless pattern along Melâs cheek and jawline, settling to cradle her chin with his index finger and thumb.
âIt is an honor and privilege to love and be loved by you, Mel Medarda.â Jayce placed one more caring kiss, dissolving the rest of the world and night around them away to oblivion.
Pulling back for a breath, Mel murmured by his lips, âI could say the very same.â

Summary: An easy date night between Stephen, Christine, and Tony in their developing relationship.
-_-
âIf you brought groceries Iâm kicking you out,â Stephen told Tony as he opened the door to his apartment.
Tony held up his empty hands. âGrocery free,â he said. âChristine already threatened me."
Relationship: Christine Palmer/Tony Stark/Stephen Strange
A1 - AU: Flower Shop - Hidden Meanings and Secret Things
Summary: At no point in Stephen's life had he ever expected to be working in a flower shop. From neurosurgeon, to sorcerer, to... part-time florist?
And who thought it was a good idea to make him do customer service!?
R1 - Desert Island - The Reforging of Broken Things (sequel to Loops in the Chain)
Summary: Stephen has broken free of his bonds, has escaped the chains of time.
Now... now what he needs is time. Time to rest. Time to heal.
K1 - Afghanistan - Defiance of the Desert

No Relationship
T3 - Robots - Up for the Challenge
Summary: âIâm charming,â Stephen said, keeping his voice light. âPeople canât resist me. Apparently that includes U.â
Tony rolled his eyes, but a smile tugged at his lips. âI hope you mean her and not me,â he said. âBecause the juryâs still out on my ability to resist you.â
Stephen hoped that by the end of today, that wouldnât be in question any longer. âOf course I meant her,â Stephen said. âWhat do you take me for?â
A3 - Free Space - If You Love Me...
Summary: If you love someone, you fight for them. Right?
If you love someone, you let them go. Right?
Stephen loses his memories and refuses to bring them back, Tony loses Stephen and doesn't know how to bring him back. There is no manual for this.
Sometimes there are no right answers.
R3 - Didn't Know They Were Dating - Right In Front of You
Summary: Stephen approved of Tony trying to be normal. He really did. It's just... sometimes it came at the expense of Stephen's shopping trip.
K3 - James Rhodes/War Machine - Hold On
Summary: They were all wrong. Tony was out there. James and Tony both just had to hold on long enough. It was just a matter of time before James would find Tony. Except, time was something he was steadily running out of. His breath caught in his throat, choking him with fear he couldnât escape.
General Forrest had made it clear that this was Jamesâ final stretch. That the resources to find Tony would be redistributed to other needs.
Needs above that of just one man.
âCome on, Tony,â he whispered, the words hoarse as they forced their way past his lips. âI need that signal. Weâre running out of time, here.â
Relationship: Tony Stark & James "Rhodey" Rhodes

S5 - Screaming - Bingo Collab: No Pie for Justin Hammer
Summary: It's just a little get together over dinner to enjoy good food and good company... in Delaware. It was a 4-hour drive, but sooo worth it.
The real question though is whether or not they'll come back. They sure will if Tony has anything to say about it!
No Relationship
T5 - Image: Comic of Tony drinking while in Iron Man suit - Dying of the Light

No Relationship
Adopted 1 - Metallurgy - On the List of Things that Can't Be Done
Summary: âYou canât just throw a few metals into a forge and âpoofâ youâve got a relic," Wong said, irritated.
Tony and Stephen both sent him scathing looks. âObviously,â Stephen said, tone derisive, an implication in his voice that Wong needed to stop underestimating them.
Wong wasn't underestimating them. He was estimating just about right. When this blew up in their faces, he was going to laugh.
Adopted 2 - Election Day - Bingo Collab: When Guardians and Asgardians Collide
Summary: Seldom in his life had Tony seen a more thoroughly-trashed post-party room. Then again, he supposed Loki had something to celebrate, which, apparently he was doing with sudden, random shapeshifting....
No Relationship

I feel like I should be panicking more. My rent is due in one week, my landlord isn't friendly, and I have no one to ask for help. And yet? I have an eerie sense of calm about it.
I know the calm that happens when you are not actually calm but panicking and your body is helping you survive. This isn't that kind of fake calm. I am sleeping at night. I'm not snaping at my kids. I am *at peace.*

(Read more for musings about the economy, my spiritual mindset in the midst of it all, and some Mary Oliver poetry.)
Five years ago? I would be panicking and staying up late working long hours and burning myself out. But now? These days I'm working full days, then stepping back and cooking meals or working on projects for my kids. It feels more stable this time. I feel like I've matured.
I got a report in my email yesterday which showed that retail sales in January plunged 0.8% from December, far worse than the consensus forecast for a decline of just 0.2%, and the largest monthly loss since March 2023. On the one hand, it made me feel better that it's not just me. On the other hand, it sucks that lots of other people are struggling, as well.
Still, I make the time to meditate every morning. Still, I pull out my poetry books and take my life advice from Mary Oliver. In the poem One or Two Things she wrote:
One or two things are all you need to travel over the blue pond, over the deep roughage of trees and through the stiff flowers of lightning--some deep memory of pleasure, some cutting knowledge of pain.

You don't need to have all the answers. You just need to put one step in front of the other.
Last year when I launched my wholesale business, I drummed up over 1000 leads. I'd pick a city and use google maps or yelp to search for gift shops, stationary stores, coffee shops... anywhere that I thought might want my work... and I took the time to write a personal note to each and every one of these businesses. This month I decided to check back in with them again, and so many of the businesses are now closed or their email addresses no longer work.
Having exhausted these leads, I sat at my computer yesterday with the knowledge that I needed to wait on people to get back to me, that the wholesale leads were out of my hands. And that I still did not have money to pay my landlord. Not once did I fear I would join the list of closed businesses. I did not despair.
Instead, I turned to my first joy. I went back to the sales history on my website and found my very first customers from back in 2016 when I launched my web shop. I emailed them, each of those first customers, sending personal emails. I did not ask them to buy anything. That wasn't what I needed. I asked how they were, what they have been up to, where their lives have taken them.
I was searching for that deep memory of pleasure, that cutting knowledge of pain. One or two things is all we need, after all.
And I got one email back.
This woman was the first person to ever buy an art print in my online shop--a honeybee boy painting--and it is still hanging in her stepson's room, nearly 8 years later. She shared pictures of her new baby, and I shared the pictures with my kids. This woman had sent me many emails over the years, asking for life advice or encouraging me on a hard day. She shared that she didn't realize her emails had made such an impact on me.

Funny how none of us truly sees how impactful we are to those around us. Funny how life keeps going on, whether we worry about it or not.
In One or Two Things, Mary Oliver also wrote:
For years and years I struggled just to love my life. And then the butterfly rose, weightless, in the wind. "Don't love your life too much," it said, and vanished into the world.

I want my character to be defined not by what I do when things are easy but by how I carry myself when things are hard. And I do believe things happen for a reason. Maybe the line between delusion and faith is very thin, but the universe has shown me time and again that it's had my back. I've been in worse scrapes and still came out ok.
If you've read this far and you want to help me get through the next week, you can buy something from my shop or support me on Patreon.
And if you've read this far but you are in a similar boat, don't fret. We will find our way through the fires. one. step. at. a. time.

{18Trip} <CHAPTER 001 SIDE-A: Sun will R1ze!> 001-A03 A sole rose

A translation of 18TRIP's CHAPTER 001 SIDE-A by 82mitsu. ENG proofreading by sasaranurude.
TL note:
In Japan, moth orchids are often chosen as a gift when celebrating the establishment of a new business, or for housewarming.Â
Kaede: Uhm⌠the address on that business card I got should be around hereâŚÂ
Kaede: âŚ! There it is! âFlower Laundryâ...
Kaede: (That nice guy who let me ride his bike a few days ago⌠Uh, Hachinoya Nagi-san? Wonder if heâs around?)
???: Hi there. Nice morning, isnât it?
Kaede: âŚhuh, eh! His bikeâs on the floor⌠Wait, Nagi-san!?
Nagi: My darling motorcycle is hugging me so intenselyâŚ
Kaede: Youâre being flattened like a pancake! Let me helpâŚ!
Nagi: Thanks, you bailed me out.
Kaede: Are you okay? Not hurting anywhere?
Nagi: Iâm good. Saw a black cat too.
Kaede: A black cat
Nagi: It popped up out of nowhere and it caught my attention, so I lost my balance. The cat was cute so it's all oke.
Kaede: (W-what a strange guy⌠but somehow positive? Despite him being in a situation where he could have broken a bone if he got unlucky.)
Kaede: I dropped by to buy some flowers as a thank you for what you did the other day, but⌠This place really is a florist and a laundromat.Â
Kaede: (This place has seen better days⌠Is it because of the decline of the special tourism ward? Could increasing the amount of tourists bring more customers to Nagi-sanâs store, too?)Â
Nagi: So it's flowers today. Laundry all good? Do you wanna wash it while youâre at it? And we can chat, if you donât mind talking to a guy like me.
Nagi: Normally thereâs someone better suited for talking round here, though.
Kaede: Ahaha⌠Iâd like some flowers please.
Nagi: Oke.
Kaede: (He's really an indifferent guyâŚ)Â
Nagi: What flowers d'you want? For yourself? Or a present?
Kaede: Flowers for celebration. The company Iâm employed at has been established, so for my workplace essentiallyâŚÂ Â
Nagi: ⌠An employee buying flowers for his own company? Want these under a pseudonym?
Kaede: Eh⌠ah, no no! You see, the president is my childhood friendâŚ!Â
Kaede: It is for the company, but I mostly want to celebrate my childhood friendâs new journeyâŚÂ
Nagi: Makes sense. Then an arrangement would probably be more fitting than your usual moth orchids.Â
Nagi: We can go with the colors of the company, or your childhood friendâs favorite color. And you can also pick flowers based on meaning if thatâs to your liking.
Nagi: Blue roses mean âdreams come trueâ, and muscari means âa bright futureâ. And since itâs for congratulating the establishment, itâd be better to make it luxurious. Though, if weâre thinking in terms of making it long-lastingâŚ
Kaede: (...Thatâs surprising, seeing him thinking so earnestly about stuff relating to flowers. Looks like he really knows his stuff too.)
Kaede: (I thought it was weird how it's a florist and a laundromat, but⌠Nagi-san deeply values the work he does here.)Â
Kaede: Um! Can you show me all kinds of different ones? I wanna pick the ones that are just perfectâŚ!
Nagi: Of course. Iâll make it to your liking.
Nagi: So, thoughts? On the completed arrangement.
Kaede: Itâs so pretty! Thank you so much!
Nagi: Iâm glad. Alright, Iâll send these to your company first thing in the morning on Monday.
Kaede: Thank you very much! Iâll be waiting at the office.
Nagi: Ah⌠here, have this. A freebie.Â
Nagi: NggghâŚ..!
Kaede: (Eh, heâs kinda, like⌠projecting his thoughts onto it?)
Nagi: Take it. Since my flowers have a power that makes you happy.
Kaede: (Freebie, huh. Though, I appreciate it. Honestly, getting flowers does kinda make you feel good.)
Nagi: And⌠on your way home, watch out for rain.
Kaede: ? Rain wasnât forecasted today, was it?
Nagi: There was a bit of a change in the clouds and pressure in the air.Â
Kaede: Fufu. I hope Kafka will be happy with the flowers on Monday~
Kaede: Oh, even though I was headed towards the station, I ended up at our company insteadâŚÂ
Kaede: (Anyway, this building reminds me of how I looked at HAMAâs scenery together with Kafka. To think heâd buy it and make it the company office.)Â
Kaede: Kafka seriously goes above and beyond with what he does. Or maybe he's just boldâŚ
Kaede: (Even back when he hired me, not a thought crossed my mind of this becoming our office. But⌠in a way, this building does mark the beginning of our work journey, so guess you could say Iâm happy with it.)
Kaede: (He contacted me mentioning how he already got founding employees on board, too. Wondering what kind of people they are has my heart beating with excitement even nowâŚ)Â
(Notification sound)
Kaede: PeChat⌠Ah, from Yuki-nii.Â
Text message from YukikazeÂ
<[Arrived at the airport now. Finally I get to see you. I canât wait anymore.]
Kaede: (......Thatâs right, Iâll be able to see Yuki-nii soon.)
Kaede: Alright! Saw the office and got motivated, time to head home whileâŚ
Kaede: Hweh, what the, an evening shower!?
Kaede: Where can I take shelter from the rain⌠Under the roof, under the roofâŚ!
Kaede: Even though it was sunny until earlier⌠My rose got soaked too.
Kaede: (Though, a wet rose is also pretty. Maybe it really does have the power of happiness. Roses are flowers of HAMA too, so just looking at it brightens up my mood.)
Kaede: (That person over there is completely drenched. They might end up catching a coldâŚ)
Kaede: E-excuse me! This roof is wide enough here, wonât you come take shelter from the rain?
???: âŚ
Kaede: Over here. Sorry, I'm going to touch your armâŚ
???: âŚGhâ
???: Leave me alone! Iâm drenched because I want to be!
Kaede: âŚHuh. Y-youâreâŚ
Kaede: (Nishizono RengaâŚ? I met him at the airportâŚ!)
Renga: âŚYouâreâ that annoying bastard who took the wrong bagâŚ
Kaede: (Y-you were annoying to me, too, though!?)
Kaede: (Maybe it wouldâve been better to leave him be~... Though, I already reached out to himâŚ)
Renga: âŚ.
Renga: âŚA rose.
Kaede: EhâŚ? Ah, this. It was given to me. Itâs pretty⌠rightâŚ.
Renga: âŚ
Kaede: (...Why's he looking at the rose like heâs on the verge of tears?)
Kaede: (And why is he walking drenched through the rain like this And his clothes, are they for a funeral)
Kaede: Um⌠if you donât mind, please take this rose.
Renga: ...Ngh, I d-donât need it!
Kaede: But it seems that it has the power to make you happy. Thatâs why, uh, please!
Renga: âŚ
Renga: âŚIs this some kind of tribute, or what? I donât need it, but Iâll accept it.
Kaede: He ran away⌠He did take the rose, though.
Kaede: (Nishizono Renga-kun. One of the current active Ward Mayors of HAMA. If Iâm working at HAMA Tours, does that mean Iâll also have to work with him?)
Kaede: (When I met him at the airport, and now too, our communication didnât go well at all. Wonder if weâll be able to make it go smoothlyâŚ)

Inflation eased to a four-year low in April as the nascent impact of President Donald Trumpâs sweeping tariffs were offset by their cost-dampening effects in a slowing economy.
Overall consumer prices increased 2.3% from a year earlier, down from 2.4% rise the previous month, according to the Labor Departmentâs consumer price index, a measure of average changes in goods and services costs.
Thatâs the lowest annual increase since February 2021 but still leaves inflation moderately above the Federal Reserveâs 2% goal.
On a monthly basis, costs rose 0.2% after dipping 0.1% in March.
Prices for groceries, including eggs, used cars and airfares all fell sharply, while medical services and auto insurance and repairs continued to drift higher.
The report provides a snapshot of consumer prices just as Trumpâs reciprocal tariffs were kicking in, capturing the economic uncertainty they spawned but only partly reflecting the projected jump in costs.
Further blurring the picture: the Trump administration announced a 90-day pause on the highest import fees for dozens of countries in early April and a similar truce with China on May 12 that allows the two sides to negotiate further.
Some forecasters hailed the reprieve, but others said the levies will still push inflation sharply higher within months.
"This may be the low point in 2025," Nationwide senior economist Ben Ayers wrote in a research note. "As tariff costs increasingly flow into consumer prices, we expect a jump in the CPI this summer."
What is core inflation?
Core inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy items and is watched closely by the Fed because it reflects more sustainable trends, increased 0.2% after inching up 0.1% in March. ,That kept the annual increase at 2.8%, the lowest in four years.
Do tariffs affect inflation?
Economists were split over whether the tariffs nudged inflation higher in April.
Barclays said it was too early for the fees to filter into prices.
Wells Fargo said âthe reality of tariffs will likely have started to influence pricing decisionsâ but businessâ efforts to avoid alienating customers along with confusion over Trumpâs shifting policies likely meant just a modest uptick in costs.
Goldman Sachs anticipated some effects on items âparticularly exposedâ to duties on Chinese goods, such as clothing and cell phones.
There were some signs that tariffs have started driving up prices for Chinese-made products last month, according to Capital Economics and Pantheon Macroeconomics. The cost of audio equipment jumped 9%; photographic equipment, 2.2%; furniture, 1.5%; and computers and accessories, 0.7%.
Apparel prices, though, edged down 0.2%.
Used car prices declined 0.5% but their costs are expected to leap within a couple of months as a 25% tariff on imported cars boosts demand for used cars, economists say. Wholesale used car prices are already rising.
At the same time, tariffs have raised recession fears and heightened uncertainty. In March, such jitters softened consumer demand and lowered costs for items such as gasoline and travel services, said economist Ryan Sweet of Oxford Economics. A similar dynamic played out last month, with airline fares falling 2.8%, the third straight sharp decline, and hotel rates slipping 0.1% following a 3.5% drop the previous month.
What is the agreement between the U.S. and China?
Meanwhile, the United States said on May 12 it was reducing tariffs on Chinese imports to 30% from 145% while China lowered its duties on U.S. shipments to 10% from 125%, igniting a huge stock market rally.
Nationwide Chief Economist Kathy Bostjancic estimated the 30% fee on China and 10% charge on other countries would still drive inflation to 3.4% by yearâs end, though thatâs down from her prior 4% estimate. Manufacturers and retailers are expected to pass most of the fees to consumers through higher prices, sapping household buying power.
In a research note, economist Michael Reid of RBC Capital Markets said the average U.S. tariff rate is now 13%, down from 24% before May 12's news of the truce with China. But he added the deal âdoes little to help get inflationâs path back to 2% as a 13% effective tariff rate is still nearly 5 times higher than the 2.4% rate seen in 2024.â
How soon will the Fed lower interest rates?
A milder-than-expected inflation reading typically might prompt the Fed to consider reducing interest rates as soon as next month. But with a tariff-driven inflation spike still ahead, that's unlikely, economist Stephen Brown of Capital Economics said.
While the pause on duties for Chinese imports could soften the potential inflation surge, it also could mean a somewhat stronger economy that dodges recession, giving the Fed leeway to wait longer to gauge the effects of the fees.
Fed fund futures markets have pushed back their forecast for the Fed to resume its market-friendly interest rate cuts from July to September. Capital Economics believes the central bank will hold off on rate cuts until next year.
Are egg prices expected to go down?
Egg prices tumbled 12.7% after a flurry of increases tied to a long-standing bird flu outbreak. The crisis has eased recently, bringing down wholesale costs that were expected to push down retail prices. Egg costs are still up nearly 50% over the past year.
Grocery prices overall slid 0.4%, largely offsetting a 0.5% rise the previous month. Breakfast cereal fell 2.5%; rice, 2.3%; chicken, 0.3%; and bacon, 1%.
Other staples got a bit pricier, with bread rising 1.6% and fresh fish and seafood climbing 0.8%.
Dining out also continued to get more expensive. The cost of food away from home rose 0.4% for the third straight month and is up  about 4% the past year, with pandemic-related labor shortages and pay increases still pushing up restaurant bills.
Why are gasoline prices dropping now?
Gasoline prices dipped 0.1%, the third straight monthly decline, and are down 11.8% over the past year. Regular unleaded averaged $3.14 a gallon on May 12, down from $3.20 a month ago, according to AAA.
Oil prices have declined sharply this year on worries that the trade war will hobble the global economy, putting downward pressure on gas prices. Also, OPEC countries agreed to increase oil production starting in April.
Is rent going to keep increasing?
Rent rose a relatively modest 0.3% for the fourth month, keeping the annual increase at 4%, the smallest since January 2022. Lower rents for new leases are finally filtering into rates for existing tenants.
Housing costs have been the biggest inflation driver, making up 35% of overall price increases in April.
Other service costs crept higher. Car insurance rates increased 0.6%; auto repairs, 0.7%; and medical care, 0.5%.

Trusted outsource software development teams - SSTech System
Outsource software development is the practice of relinquishing software-related duties to outside singularities or organizations. Outsourcing is used by firms to acquire software services and products from outside firms that do not have direct employees or employees under contract to the business entity that is outsourcing.
Infect, the outsourcing market worldwide is projected to grow by 8.28% (2025-2029) resulting in a market volume of US$812.70bn in 2029. This model is highly versatile and suits businesses of all sizes.
Start-ups often use outsourcing to develop MVPs quickly, while established companies might seek custom software development services or AI outsourcing services to address complex challenges. Outsourcing can include working with offshore development teams, global software development partners, or local experts like Australian software development experts for specific projects.
The benefits of outsourcing software development
Outsourcing has become a cornerstone for modern businesses due to its numerous advantages. Hereâs a closer look at the key benefits:
1. Cost efficiency
Perhaps the biggest incentive for sourcing solutions from outsourcing service providers is the cost cutting factor. For instance, offshore software development in India provides expertise services at comparatively lower cost than that of in-house developed services in Western countries. This efficiency enable the enactments of cost savings in some other strategic sectors of the organization.
2. Access to global talent
Outsourcing can help to discover the wealth of new talents as well as the skills of professionals from other countries. No matter Whether itâs AI and machine learning integration, web application development in Australia, or outsourced healthcare software development, businesses can find experts in virtually any domain.
3. Scalability and flexibility
Outsourcing offers flexibility that is unparalleled in many organizations today. This is because; firms are able to expand and contract particular teams depending on the specific demand in projects. For example, outsourced IT solutions help business organizations prepare for different conditions while not having to employ permanent workers.
4. Faster time-to-market
With reliable software development teams in Australia or offshore development teams in India, businesses can speed up their project timelines. This helps innovations to make it through to the market early enough, which is useful for companies.
5. Focus on core activities
By delegating tasks like software maintenance and support or cloud software development in Australia to outsourcing partners, businesses can focus on their core competencies and strategic goals.
6. Reduced risk
In-house staff and trained outsourcing partners come with best practices, methods and procedures which when implemented reduce the chances of project hitch. Working with the top-rated IT outsourcing companies in Australia gives you confidence that your project is in safe hands.
Choosing the right outsourced software development partner
In the period from 2023 to 2027, the revenue of software outsourcing is forecasted to thrive at a CAGR of 7.54%. So, outsourcing partner selection is one of the most vital components since it determines the success of a given venture. Here are essential factors to consider:
1. Technical expertise
Check the partnerâs competency and his knowledge of the field. For instance, SSTech System Outsourcing offers comprehensive solutions, from AI development services in India to mobile app development outsourcing in Australia.
2. Proven track record
Look for partners with a strong portfolio and positive client testimonials. A proven track record in delivering custom software development services or managing outsourcing software development contracts is a good indicator of reliability.
3. Effective communication
Effective and open communication is extremely important if the project is to be successful. Work with people who give frequent reports and employ efficient media to overcome the differences in time areas.
4. Cultural compatibility
There has to be a cultural match or at least appreciation for each otherâs customs for there to be harmony in the working relationship. As such, staffed with proficient Australia software development experts or offshore development teams, whose experience is to work on global markets can coordinate and blend well with your work culture.
5. Security and compliance
You have to make sure that your partner complies with the standards and the policies that are in the industry. This is especially substantial for all information-sensitive projects such as outsourced healthcare software development or cloud software development in Australia.
6. Scalable infrastructure
Choose a partner capable of scaling their resources and infrastructure to meet your projectâs evolving needs. This is crucial for long-term collaborations, especially with global software development partners.
AI-powered tools for outsourced development teams
According to a report from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, software development ranks among the most sought-after professions. Hence, AI is at the forefront of reshaping the outsourcing industry. Therefore, the implementation of artificial intelligence will add value to business processes, make workflow easier, and boost the results of projects. Here are some examples:
1. Automated code reviews
Tools like DeepCode and SonarQube assist outsourced teams in detecting whether errors reside in the code line or not, and whether code needs to be enriched or not. This is particularly accurate concerning AI outsourcing and in-house development industries.
2. Predictive analytics
Automated analytics tools can predict such things as the time it will take to complete the project, how much money it will cost, and what risks are possible in a software development outsourcing scenario.
3. Smart project management
Tools and platforms such as Jira and Monday.com, when empowered with AI, allow the coordination of tasks and the tracking of progress and resource allocation.
4. AI collaboration tools
Communication and collaboration with internal members and offshore software development Australia partners get facilitated through applications that include, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and zoom with integrated AI functions.
5. Natural Language Processing (NLP)
AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants simplify communication and issue resolution, making them valuable for managing outsourced IT solutions.
Best practices for managing outsourced development teams
Outsourced teams should be mandated and coordinated following a number of recommendations to ensure the efficiency of the entirety of the outsourcing process.
Here are the best practices to ensure your projectâs success:
1. Set clear objectives
Make it clear to your project team, stakeholders, and other relevant parties what the parameters of the project are, what it is that you expect out of it, and what you expect to get from it in return. This fostaines consistency between your team and the outsourcing partner to increase efficiency in service delivery.
2. Choose the right tools
Use project tracking and collaboration software approaches to track and evaluate progress and meet regular informality and collaboration targets.
3. Foster a collaborative environment
It is worthy of note that constant communication is key to ensuring that your outsourcing team is on the same page with you. Fresh produce and feedback mechanisms need to be provided in order for there to be trust as is needed in project management.
4. Draft comprehensive contracts
There should be a comprehensive outsourcing software development contract. It should address issues to do with confidentiality, ownership of ideas and concepts, plea structure and mode of handling disputes.
5. Focus on long-term relationships
Building a long-term partnership with trusted providers like SSTech System Solutions can lead to consistent quality and better project outcomes.
Conclusion
To keep up with technology, outsourcing software development offers businesses solutions and support that can enable the creation of complex solutions out of mere ideas. Outsourcing has the benefits of minute overhead cost and is also a rich source of globally talented employees, and it offers the advantage of early time to market. Whether youâre looking for mobile app development outsourcing in Australia or seeking offshore software development in India or opting for AI outsourcing services, the potential is huge.
Such companies can only benefit from opting for reliable outsourcing companies such as SSTech System Outsourcing and embracing industry best practices to promote the success of business project implementations while enhancing market relevance. As technologies like AI and cloud computing are still changing the face of the outsourcing market, software development outsourcing will still be important for any company that wants to survive in a digital world.
Take the first step todayâpartner with global software development partners and unlock the full potential of your ideas with the power of outsourcing.

David Zipper at Vox:
Despite a recent slowdown in US sales, global forecasts for electric vehicles remain bullish. Countries across North America, Europe, and Asia are expanding charger networks and offering EV subsidies; global EV sales are projected to nearly triple by 2030, reaching 40 million vehicles annually. The incipient wave of EV purchases raises a question: What will happen to the millions of gas-powered cars whose owners no longer want them? The likely answer: Rather than scrapping used gas vehicles or selling them domestically, rich nations will dispatch them to developing countries where limited incomes and low levels of car ownership have created eager buyers for even older, substandard models.
An influx of used gas cars would be a welcome development for those in the Global South who aspire to automobile ownership, a luxury that many in affluent countries take for granted. But it would undermine efforts to mitigate climate change, since shifting gas guzzlers from one country to another doesnât lower global emissions. For developing countries themselves, a sharp increase in car ownership could amplify calls to build auto-reliant infrastructure, making it harder to construct the dense neighborhoods and transit networks that can foster more sustainable growth. And since these imported used cars would be fueled by gasoline, air quality would further decline in cities that are already choked with smog. The world is in an era of polycrisis, facing concurrent challenges including climate change, toxic air, and extreme inequality. Difficult trade-offs are often inevitable. Such is the case with the thorny issue of what to do with the millions of gas cars that the rich world will discard as its fleets are electrified. Electrification is a necessary goal. And itâs natural for people in the developing world to desire the same luxuries that characterize middle-class comfort in wealthier countries. The question is how to manage a transition with enormous stakes that has largely been ignored. The experts who do pay attention are growing alarmed.
[...]
How used cars move from rich nations to poor ones
Although it generates few headlines, a massive industry transports used cars across borders every day, with exporters collecting lower-quality models from dealers and wholesale auctions. Ayetor noted that colonial legacies are reflected in the trade flows: the UK, with its car cabins designed for drivers who keep to the left, tends to ship to former colonies like Kenya and Tanzania that still follow the same rules.
According to a report issued in June by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), some 3.1 million used cars were exported in 2022, up from 2.4 million in 2015. Most come from Japan, Europe, and the United States. (In the US, around 7 percent of all cars no longer in use are sent abroad. The rest end up in junkyards where their parts and materiel are sold off.) About one in three exported used vehicles is destined for Africa, followed by Eastern Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. Imported models often dominate local auto sales, since international carmakers send few new vehicles to the Global South and rarely establish production facilities there. (In sub-Saharan Africa, only South Africa has local factories.) The developing worldâs demand for cars is robust, in large part because comparatively few people own one. According to one 2020 estimate, the US had 860 cars for every 1,000 residents, while South Africa had 176, Morocco 112, and Nigeria just 56. Meanwhile, growing populations provide a steady supply of new potential customers. Africa is home to all of the worldâs 20 fastest-growing countries, with Angola, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Niger, and Uganda expanding their populations by at least 3 percent per year. (For comparison, the US population is growing at a 0.67 percent rate).
[...]
The world needs a plan to adapt
The risks of aged, polluting cars sent abroad will not be borne by the Global South alone. Climate change is a planetary phenomenon; driving a gas guzzler produces the same amount of emissions in Lusaka as it would in London or Los Angeles. Reducing greenhouse gasses requires reducing total vehicle emissions, not just shifting their location. In an ideal world, electrification would enable the rich world to scrap its most decrepit gas cars. Instead, wealthy nations are likely to ship them to poorer countries, which will be left to figure out what to do when even the most MacGyver-like mechanics cannot keep them running. âAll of your worst vehicles end up here,â Ayetor said. âWhen we want to get rid of the vehicle, what do we do?â No wealthy nations currently screen exported vehicles to weed out those that flunk basic quality tests, Kopf said. But that may soon change. The European Union is now considering new regulations that would prohibit exporting âend of lifeâ vehicles, requiring that cars shipped abroad obtain a certificate confirming their roadworthiness. Its adoption would be a âgame-changer,â according to UNEPâs Akumu. (She and Kopf said they know of no comparable proposals under consideration in North America.)
With the increase of electric vehicles in the developed countries, used gas-fueled cars are headed to a developing country (aka the Global South) at increasing rates.
