GAMING CONSOLE: CAPCOM PLAY SYSTEM-1 (CPS-1) ARCADE BOARD

YEAR: 1992

ASSIGNMENT: Based on the Marvel Comic event of the same name, Marvel Super Heroes: Infinity Gauntlet is an assignment that is designed to undermine and compete with Konami’s 6-player panoramic X-Men arcade game. The game will feature player characters that will later appear as the heroic representatives in the 1995 CPS-2 fighting game, Marvel Super Heroes. Sprite references used include assets from various SNES Capcom titles, to include Captain Commando, Final Fight 2, MSH: War of the Gems, and X-Men Mutant Apocalypse. The intention is to maintain an antiquated look to fit the 1992 contemporary. The bezel features an assortment of pages from the featured series, along with a collection line art sketched by contemporaneous comic artists to the respective characters. The line art featured includes work from various conventions by Jim Lee, John Byrne, Bob Layton, Todd McFarlane, and Dale Keown!

PERSONAL THOUGHTS: I love me some coloring, but it takes so much time to get right! Technically, this was the second Impossible Screenshot I’ve been working on, but due to a variety of speed bumps, I’ve now beem able to really work on it! Now to print it! :D

PROJECT DESIG NO.: 003 NOMENCLATURE: THUNDERBOLTS GAMING CONSOLE: CAPCOM PLAY SYSTEM-3 (CPS-3) ARCADE BOARD

ASSIGNMENT: The Thunderbolts are a superhero team from Marvel Comics that consist of reformed supervillains and anti-heroes. My goal was to present a possible mockup based on the 2013 iteration of the team, with its strong emphasis on red and black, and especially with The Punisher and Deadpool’s involvement -the former being the first hero Capcom had made a game about amongst Marvel’s ranks, and the latter having an adequate sequel in theaters- by making this game a side-scrolling beat-em-up as the chimeric sequel to 1993’s The Punisher.

This piece will be showcased at Subterranean Coffee in Hillcrest (@subterraneancoffeehillcrest) for Thumbprint Gallery’s (@thumbprintgalery) Mercs and Anti-Heroes: A Group Art Exhibit on 21Jul2018 (the Saturday of SDCC festivities) and will be available for purchase!
