HG Cybaster (Super Robot Wars)

I may have missed the Alteisen, but I got got the Cybaster! I’ve actually played a few SRW games with this guy in it. I really should look up more of those games, but every time I play one I hit a mission that walls me and I can’t progress. I think when I played SRWaG it was the Turn-X fight. I think I beat OG1, but not OG2 and I don’t remember why. Still, it’s a neat, magically powered Super Robot, and that by itself is reason to like it.

Also, I know it’s usually fan translated as “Cybuster,” but the box says “Cybaster,” so that’s whay I’m calling it.

The Good: This was a pretty interesting build. It has some odd joint construction and parts layout. And all the pearlescent parts are under gated so they look pristine from most angles.

It also has a great range of articulation, with additional joints in the shoulders for more forward movement, double joints in both the elbows and knees, and very good ankles, with very posable toes to compensate for any unbalance.

The Bad: Does not come with the Vanity Ripper, which makes me sad. Apart from that, it’s only major issue is its stand. It has a dedicated plug as Cybird so it can use the Action Base-5, but it’s covered up as Cybaster. This means you need to use the clamp arm.

Also, the neck joint could be better. I had a hard time showing off its eyes.

The Details: While there isn’t a lot of surface detail, I panel lined what was there. I did add a lot of black paint to certain areas, such as the tops and insides of the wings, around both sets of eyes, in all the verniers, and along the seam lines in the legs. I also painted the spikes on the backpack red, and the shoulders, which was the only detail I ended up changing from the original. Oh, and I painted the gems on the Dis Cutter metallic green.

Overall, this is a fun kit. I’m not sure if you’d be interested in it if you’re not familiar with the SRW games, but if you do choose to pick it up for aesthetics, know that you’re getting a good kit.

For some reason, the kit is called Cybaster. I'm pretty sure every official release in English used the name "Cybuster". Not sure how Bandai fudged that since they publish the games.

emphasis on gameplay like ac6, not the customization aspect, more of the fast paced action parts. and i think it would be cool if people gave a shit about srws that a new game in this style could be like a smash (ultimate?) style where people (niche mecha fans) get hype for every new mech added, imagine the gaming scene, the tier lists of mechs

and hypothetical mecha i would imagine being in the games roster ⬇️

huckbeins (mk1, 2 and 3), auβenseiter, altesein, SRX and it’s smaller component mechs, bemi doban, gunleon, cybaster and gespenst for the SRW original units

other units being; RX78, zeta and nu gundams, char’s zaku, sazabi, mazinger, getter 1, 2 and 3, temjin, fei yen, scopedog, ingram (noas unit i forget it’s name) griffon, valkyrie, nine ball seraph, white glint, L gaim, xabungle, laevatein or whatever the red unit from full metal panic was called. dragonar, dunbine, eva unit 1, vifam, the guy from gurrenlaggan, gunbuster, gaogaiogar, and maybe like. optimus prime or some transformers thing because of the recent collab , for other mech units

i really dont know why anyone hasnt had the idea to make a game like super robot wars, but with the fighting/gameplay style of (specifically) ac6, like you could have all these different units clashing and fighting eachother (one-on-one) instead of just. turn based rpg combat like the normal srw games

While Masaki's Cybuster is obviously not in any Burning PT, there is an odd cheatcode called 'silver thanksgiving' in the files that removes your map, and you have to use your personal sense of direction to play.

Masaki proceeded to chase Irm for adding the joke in there.

a new Burning PT game comes out, and the EF military goes wild when they realize that the game has completely accurate simulations of their units, including the Steel Dragons’ super secret, super special ones

after some investigation, it turns out that some of the Steel Dragons are responsible for this because they play the game themselves and put in the correct information for their units when they noticed discrepancies, without considering the issues of doing so
