“So—”

Terra leaned back, perched on the desk next to the span of computer monitors. Her straight hair fell behind her shoulders as she twisted her head to the side to glance at Victor. “BB and Rae, what's the deal there?”

“Huh?” Vic looked up distractedly, his metal fingers tapping out sharply against the keyboard as he kept typing.

Terra smiled at him, her blue eyes twinkling as she sat up and leaned in towards the computer screen in front of him, and waved a brightly colored lollipop in front of his face.

“Gar and Raven,” she repeated.

“Oh, that.” He dragged his attention off of the complex lines of code crawling across the monitor.

“Yes, that,” she laughed lightly. “He trails after her like a lost puppy, and she's just—” She pulled an exaggeratedly morose face, then rolled her eyes. “And they bicker like an old married couple. Are they like, together, or something?”

“Uh…not exactly…”

Victor sighed, and finally gave up on his work. He rubbed his hands over his face, the metal of the prosthetics scraping faintly across the plates molded to the side of his head.

“So what's the deal?” She popped the candy back into her mouth, watching him curiously.

“He's an idiot, that's what the deal is,” he said with a laugh.

The spot where his spine joined with the artificial skeleton halfway down his back ached softly, and he reached his arms up over his head, trying to stretch out his muscles, his body stiff from sitting at the computer for so long these past few days, trying to figure out what the hell it was that had hit their systems. “And he apparently has a thing for girls that could kill him with nothing but their pinky.”

He shook his head, unable to stop the grin that spread across his face. “And Rae—well, for someone who 'doesn't like him' she sure puts up with a lot—I mean, she'll actually listen to him. At this point I just kind of tune him out.”

He stared up at her, completely deadpan, “Cause I don't know if you've noticed—but his jokes really aren't that funny.”

Terra giggled, the bright sound filling the computer room.

Vic twisted his chair towards her, bracing his forearm on top of the desk, her slim, bare legs dangling off the side in front of him, hiking boots swinging gently back and forth. “Why the sudden interest?” he teased. The mechanical half of his face clicked softly, the complex mechanisms mirroring the movements and expressions of his original features, his dark skin warped and puckered where it met the edges of the metal. “Please don't tell me you've got a crush on the little Green-Bean too.”

“What?” she scoffed. “No—”
