“Why are you kissing me?” you mumble, your voice hoarse with sleep. 

They’re light kisses. “I’m going now,” Spencer says, matching your quiet tone. 

“No.” 

You wrap your arm behind his neck and feel his hair against your wrist. His nose and lips warm your jaw. 

“Yes.” He kisses your jaw. “I have to go, but I didn’t wanna leave without a kiss.” 

That’s really sweet, he’s so sweet, you’re so tired. “Please don’t go, Spencer.” 

“I have to go.” He readjusts your hugging to hum against your temple, distinctly content despite your pleading. “I’ll be back by six for dinner, promise.” 

“Promise,” you say.

You get to keep him for a few minutes, regardless. His neck must sing bent as he is over you but he doesn’t relent, doesn’t move until you encourage his face back to kiss just under his bottom lip. “Sorry, I’m making you late,” you whisper. 

“No, no, I accounted for this. You’re on my agenda.” 

“How much time did you allot?” you ask through a smile. 

“Seventeen minutes. That’s how long we usually hug in the morning.” 

“Gotta get that time down,” you say. 

“Or up.” He holds your face. You turn your head into his touch and keep him for just another half a minute. 

“Okay,” you mumble, letting your eyes flutter closed again, “you can leave, I’m gonna go back to sleep.” 

“Good idea.” He kisses you, and he says goodbye. You’re sleeping again before he’s even left your room

When you wake properly, you still feel loved, like a sunburn but with less stinging. There’s something very special about your boy; something permanent about the way he loves. You can’t imagine he’ll ever stop loving you like this, he’s embedded you so deeply into his life and his routines (and you’d beg him to keep you if he ever changed his mind). That in itself is crazy. You can’t have imagined begging a guy to let you stay, but for Spencer, you would.  

When he comes home that night, half an hour before six, you have no regrets. 

You hadn’t noticed how he was dressed when he left, but he looks lovely in just a simple t-shirt and jeans. Remarkably casual for him, you used to think he only wore t-shirts to bed, but the older he gets the better propensity he has for comfort. What makes it for you is the cardigan. 

“You look nice,” you praise, more than satisfied when the first thing he does after he takes off his shoes is lean down to hug you where you’re sitting on his couch. 

“Thank you.” He pats your back and pulls away. “You’re beautiful,” he says with ease, like he’s commenting on the weather. “Good day?” 

Your lips pucker into a twist. 

“What?” he asks. 

Unfortunately, he sounds deeply worried. 

“No, it’s nothing, I just hurt my arm. Can you have a look?” 

Spencer takes your arm. “What did you do?” he asks, pulling the sleeve of your shirt carefully up to your elbow. The Saran wrap confuses him, until it doesn’t, and he grins at your skin, before frowning again. His flickering emotions worry you, until he says, “Is that mine?” 

You hold your arm in the light. “Of course it’s yours?” 

It’s just a few words from a note he wrote you, perhaps too soon into your relationship for sweetness, and yet one you kept anyways. He told you the story of the I Love You lighthouse, or rather, the Minot Ledge lighthouse, and how the man who lived there had to live on a different island to his family while tending the lighthouse, so he would flash the light once, then four times, and then three times, one flash for every letter of each corresponding word: I love you. The note was left on your dresser. You’d slept together the night before, but he had to leave early. Nowadays he wakes you up, but  back then he’d been too shy. 

I want to be able to do that for you but I can’t find a lighthouse in D.C. that will let me in to try. I’ll keep looking. 

“I’ll keep looking,” Spencer reads. His thumb heistates just under your small font.

“It’s from that note you left me.”

“I know, I remember.” He does his awful frowny face where his eyelids lower and you're sure he’ll never smile again, he looks that upset. “You know this is permanent?”

“They do tend to be,” you say with a lovelorn sigh. 

“I don’t know what to do. I don’t know if I should kiss you, or hug you, or… I don’t know why you’d do this.”

“But it’s okay?” you ask. It could make for a very awkward conversation if he doesn't like it.

“It’s perfect.” He holds your gaze. “You’re perfect.”

He acts like your tattoo is a gaping wound as he moves in to hug you, careful of your new ink, but relentless in the tightness of his arms behind your back. You laugh, then squeal at his insistence, a giggly girly thing that nobody else should ever hear but him. He doesn’t make fun of you, just squeezes you to him, his face pressed so hard to yours you can feel his cheekbones. 

“Now I just have to say something romantic for you to get tattooed and we’ll be equal again.’

“So we aren’t equal?”

“Um, no way.” Your laugh is self-satisfied and breathless. You turn your lips to his cheek. “I love you. I’m gonna build you a lighthouse.”

“Can’t believe you kept that note.”

“I have a whole shoebox of them. I love that you write them.”

He stops holding himself up, half on the couch and half in your lap as he hugs you with every bit of strength in his arms.

Sam Hanna came bearing gifts — and not just malasadas — when NCIS‘ latest Case of the Week demanded the former agent’s presence.

Oh, did we say “former” NCIS agent? That’s because that was the first bombshell that got dropped on us before Sam (played by NCIS: LA vet LL Cool J) arrived in the big orange room.

Having witnessing the massacre of his NCIS ELITE team during his NCIS: Hawaii Season 3 crossover, Sam needed “a change of pace” and requested a leave of absence from the agency, we were told.

So what is Sam up to these days? He “chose a far more dangerous battleground” — working in D.C. on the Hill, “defending freedom with a laser pointer.” Meaning, he’s trying to sell obstinate congressmen on military interdictions that, while vitally important, won’t help get anyone elected, seeing as they’re “two-bit squabbles halfway around the world,” as one politico put it. (By episode’s end, that same pissy congressman wound up learning he is in bed with a military contractor guilty of war crimes, at which point Sam then very much had his ear!)

What else did former Special Agent Sam have to share about his onetime teammates back in L.A. (and Hawaii)?

* G Callen is “not a lone wolf anymore,” Sam informed us. Rather, “He and [wife] Anna are expecting a new pup” — which we will choose to interpret as “a human baby,” and not a pet (or newborn wolf).

* Pearl Harbor SAC Jane Tennant‘s son Alex is in college, while daughter Julie (gosh, remember Julie??) is now age 15. Jane also hooked Sam up with the recipe (really? He baked?) for the malasadas with which he surprised pastry afficianado Alden Parker.

* Then, at episode’s end… just when you thought the OSP updates were done with and the grand dame aka Henrietta “Hetty” Lange‘s status would again be sidestepped…. Sam told Vance that he was quitting his job on the Hill, and that while NCIS’ doors are always open to him, “I have some things I need to take care of first,” he hinted.

“That wouldn’t have anything to do with Hetty, would it?” asked Vance, cocking an eyebrow. “I’ve heard rumors she’s been spotted on wrong side of a DMZ.”

Sam was coy about his forever-mysterious L.A. boss, winking back, “It’s probably better the less you know.”

In a bombshell revelation during an appearance on Sara Gonzales Unfiltered, investigative journalist Steve Baker has accused General Mark Milley, then-Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, of authorizing the use of heat and sound-directed energy weapons against protesters during the violent riots that rocked Washington, D.C., in the summer of 2020.

Baker claims to have photographic evidence to substantiate these allegations, with a full exposé promised in the coming days.

It can be recalled that during the summer of 2020, a series of protests and riots erupted across the United States following the death of George Floyd.

These events, often referred to as the “Summer of Love,” resulted in significant loss of life and property damage.

By early June 2020, at least 19 deaths were reported in connection with the protests nationwide.

New York Magazine writer Olivia Nuzzi, who recently came under fire after admitting to a “personal relationship” with former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has filed a lawsuit against her ex-fiancé Ryan Lizza, the well-known Politico journalist, accusing him of orchestrating a blackmail campaign against her, CNN reported Tuesday.

Nuzzi, who’s been on leave from the magazine since the revelations about her relationship with Kennedy surfaced, filed her lawsuit in Washington, D.C., Superior Court this week. In the suit, she accuses Lizza of working to damage her personal reputation as far back as July.

Lizza, Nuzzi alleges, “explicitly threatened to make public personal information about me to destroy my life, career, and reputation—a threat he has since carried out.”

Nuzzi claims in the lawsuit, obtained by CNN, that after she refused to get back together with him, Lizza attempted to get various media outlets to publish personal information about her that he’d gathered from personal electronic devices he stole from her and hacked.

She claims some of her personal details may have been “doctored” to appear more damaging and that her ex concealed his identity by pretending to be an anonymous campaign operative.

A hearing for the case is set for Oct. 15.

Nuzzi never named Kennedy in the lawsuit, but she alluded to the scandal when she accused Lizza of tipping off her employer about “the matter” ― an apparent reference to the bombshell relationship.

New York Magazine confirmed last month that it had put Nuzzi on leave after she admitted to a personal relationship with a “former subject relevant to the 2024 campaign.” Journalist Oliver Darcy reported in his newsletter Status that her relationship was with Kennedy, the former presidential candidate Nuzzi had written an extensive profile about last November.

Nuzzi said the relationship was never physical and only began after her Kennedy profile was published.

Kennedy, the anti-vaccine activist, has been married to actor Cheryl Hines since 2014. He suspended his independent bid for the presidency in August and endorsed Donald Trump.

Lizza did not immediately return HuffPost’s request for comment, but he denied Nuzzi’s claims to CNN.

“I am saddened that my ex-fiancée would resort to making a series of false accusations against me as a way to divert attention from her own personal and professional failings,” he said. “I emphatically deny these allegations and I will defend myself against them vigorously and successfully.”

Nuzzi did not return HuffPost’s requests for further comment on the lawsuit.

Fifty years ago, on August 9, 1974, Richard M. Nixon became the first president in U.S. history to resign.

The road to that resignation began in 1971, when Daniel Ellsberg, who was at the time an employee of the RAND Corporation and thus had access to a top-secret Pentagon study of the way U.S. leaders had made decisions about the Vietnam War, leaked that study to major U.S. newspapers, including the New York Times and the Washington Post. 

The Pentagon Papers showed that every president from Harry S. Truman to Lyndon B. Johnson had lied to the public about events in Vietnam, and Nixon worried that “enemies” would follow the Pentagon Papers with a leak of information about his own decision-making to destroy his administration and hand the 1972 election to a Democrat. 

The FBI seemed to Nixon reluctant to believe he was being stalked by enemies. So the president organized his own Special Investigations Unit out of the White House to stop leaks. And who stops leaks? Plumbers. 

The plumbers burglarized the office of Ellsberg’s psychiatrist in California, hoping to find something to discredit him, then moved on to bigger targets. Together with the Committee to Re-elect the President (fittingly dubbed CREEP as its activities became known), they planted fake letters in newspapers declaring support for Nixon and hatred for his opponents, spied on Democrats, and hired vendors for Democratic rallies and then scarpered on the bills. Finally, they set out to wiretap the Washington, D.C., headquarters of the Democratic National Committee, in the fashionable Watergate office complex.

Early in the morning of June 17, 1972, Watergate security guard Frank Wills noticed that a door lock had been taped open. He ripped off the tape and closed the door, but on his next round, he found the door taped open again. Wills called the police, who arrested five men ransacking the DNC’s files. 

The White House immediately denounced what it called a “third-rate burglary attempt,” and the Watergate break-in gained no traction before the 1972 election, which Nixon and Vice-President Spiro Agnew won with an astonishing 60.7% of the popular vote. 

But Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, two young Washington Post reporters, followed the sloppy money trail back to the White House, and by March 1973 the scheme was unraveling. One of the burglars, James W. McCord Jr., wrote a letter to Judge John Sirica before his sentencing claiming he had lied at his trial to protect government officials. Sirica made the letter public, and White House counsel John Dean immediately began cooperating with prosecutors.

In April, three of Nixon’s top advisors resigned, and in May the president was forced to appoint former solicitor general of the United States Archibald Cox as a special prosecutor to investigate the affair. That same month, the Select Committee on Presidential Campaign Activities, informally known as the Senate Watergate Committee, began nationally televised hearings. The committee’s chair was Sam Ervin (D-NC), a conservative Democrat who would not run for reelection in 1974 and thus was expected to be able to do the job without political grandstanding.

The hearings turned up the explosive testimony of John Dean, who said he had talked to Nixon about covering up the burglary more than 30 times, but there the investigation sat during the hot summer of 1973 as the committee churned through witnesses. And then, on July 13, 1973, deputy assistant to the president Alexander Butterfield revealed the bombshell news that conversations and phone calls in the Oval Office had been taped since 1971.

Nixon refused to provide copies of the tapes either to Cox or to the Senate committee. When Cox subpoenaed a number of the tapes, Nixon ordered Attorney General Elliot Richardson to fire him. In the October 20, 1973, “Saturday Night Massacre,” Richardson and his deputy, William Ruckelshaus, refused to execute Nixon’s order and resigned in protest; it was only the third man at the Justice Department—Solicitor General Robert Bork—who was willing to carry out the order firing Cox.

Popular outrage at the resignations and firing forced Nixon to ask Bork—now acting attorney general—to appoint a new special prosecutor, Leon Jaworski, a Democrat who had voted for Nixon, on November 1. On November 17, Nixon assured the American people that “I am not a crook.”

Like Cox before him, Jaworski was determined to hear the Oval Office tapes. He subpoenaed a number of them. Nixon fought the subpoenas on the grounds of executive privilege. On July 24, 1974, in U.S. v. Nixon, the Supreme Court sided unanimously with the prosecutor, saying that executive privilege “must be considered in light of our historic commitment to the rule of law. This is nowhere more profoundly manifest than in our view that 'the twofold aim (of criminal justice) is that guilt shall not escape or innocence suffer.'... The very integrity of the judicial system and public confidence in the system depend on full disclosure of all the facts���.”

Their hand forced, Nixon’s people released transcripts of the tapes. They were damning, not just in content but also in style. Nixon had cultivated an image of himself as a clean family man, but the tapes revealed a mean-spirited, foul-mouthed bully. Aware that the tapes would damage his image, Nixon had his swearing redacted. “[Expletive deleted]” trended.

In late July 1974, the House Committee on the Judiciary passed articles of impeachment, charging the president with obstruction of justice, abuse of power, and contempt of Congress. Each article ended with the same statement: “In all of this, Richard M. Nixon has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States. Wherefore Richard M. Nixon, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office.”

And then, on August 5, in response to a subpoena, the White House released a tape recorded on June 23, 1972, just six days after the Watergate break-in, that showed Nixon and his aide H.R. Haldeman plotting to invoke national security to protect the president. Even Republican senators, who had not wanted to convict their president, knew the game was over. A delegation went to the White House to deliver the news to the president that he must resign or be impeached by the full House and convicted by the Senate.

In his resignation speech, Nixon refused to acknowledge that he had done anything wrong. Instead, he told the American people he had to step down because he no longer had the support he needed in Congress to advance the national interest. He blamed the press, whose “leaks and accusations and innuendo” had been designed to destroy him. His disappointed supporters embraced the idea that there was a “liberal” conspiracy, spearheaded by the press, to bring down any Republican president.

Bombshell transcripts: Trump urged use of troops to protect Capitol on Jan. 6 , but was rebuffed

Key lawmaker says interviews prove Pentagon wrongly allowed optics to overwhelm security concerns in lead-up to fateful day. The Pentagon's top brass did not comply with Trump's orders because of political concerns and "optics."

Then-President Donald Trump gave clear instructions to Pentagon brass days before the Jan. 6 riots to “do whatever it takes” to keep the U.S. Capitol safe, including deploying National Guard or active-duty troops, but top officials did not comply because of political concerns, according to transcripts of bombshell interviews conducted by the Defense Department's chief watchdog that shine new light on government disfunction ahead of the historic tragedy.

Gen. Mark Milley, the former chairman of the Joints Chief of Staff, confirmed to the Pentagon inspector general three years ago that during a Jan. 3, 2021, Oval Office meeting Trump pre-approved the use of National Guard or active duty troops to keep peace in the nation’s capital on the day Congress was to certify the results of the 2020 election.

Milley's interviews were among several key to transcripts obtained by House Administration Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., and shared with Just the News.

“The President just says, ‘Hey look at this. It’s going to be a large amount of protesters come in here on the 6th, and make sure that you have sufficient National Guard or Soldiers to make sure it’s a safe event,’” Milley told the inspector general in one of two interviews he did in spring 2021 during a probe of the Pentagon’s response to Jan. 6.

Milley said then-Acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller, himself a former general, assured Trump there was an adequate safety plan for Pentagon assistance to Washington, D.C. “Miller responds by saying, ‘Hey, we’ve got a plan, and we’ve got it covered.’ And that’s about it,” Milley recalled.

I have 0 writing skills, but my brain keeps tossing concepts at me. Sometimes these ideas get pretty complex, but they’re never quite complete. So, I guess I’ll just throw this out there as the lamest form of fanfiction ever created? (If anyone wants to adopt this concept—go for it, you have my blessing, for I will never expand it further!)

Concept:

This is a The Raven Cycle/Dreamer Trilogy Alternate Universe (AU) with no magic. The characters are aged up, and while they all knew each other in school and were once close (in many different ways), life has drifted them apart. The story takes place mostly in Washington, D.C.

Characters & Plot(holes):

Adam Parrish works in the District Attorney's office, involved in a high-profile case against Colin Greenmantle, a notorious criminal mastermind. Greenmantle’s been involved in drug trafficking, forgery, blackmail, and more, but Adam can’t nail him—there’s no solid proof. It’s driving him mad until he begins receiving anonymous tips. Skeptical at first, Adam soon realizes they’re legit, and with this help, he’s able to land the first serious blow against Greenmantle.

Richard Gansey III is now a young, popular senator, considered a political prodigy. While admired by many, he’s also made powerful enemies in the political arena. Over the years, he’s distanced himself from his old friends, although he crosses paths with Adam occasionally, usually at official events. He also runs into Declan Lynch, the personal assistant to Senator Seondeok Cheng, though their interactions remain distant and formal—there’s an unspoken tension between them, and, additionally, Gansey and Senator Cheng often clash.

Joseph Kavinsky works for Greenmantle, managing drug operations. Because of reasons [Plot Hole #1], he decides that if he wants to survive, he needs to escape Greenmantle’s grasp. But no one leaves Greenmantle’s web in one piece. To get out, Kavinsky starts feeding information to Adam—yes, he’s the anonymous tipster! Once Adam discovers Kavinsky’s identity, they have a heated confrontation, and Adam nearly shuts him down. But Kavinsky drops a bombshell: he has proof that Greenmantle orchestrated the murders of Niall and Aurora Lynch, Ronan’s parents, all those years ago. This tips the scales, and Adam decides to continue working with him. First, however, he needs to check with Ronan.

Ronan Lynch has made some bad decisions in life and is estranged from everyone—Adam, Gansey, even Declan. When Adam visits him at his home, back in Virginia, he’s slightly surprised to find Ronan under house arrest, an ankle monitor keeping him confined to the Barns. There’s tension between them from the start, a mix of unresolved feelings, hurt, and something more difficult to name. Ronan, being direct as ever, quickly gets Adam to admit why he’s really there. When Adam reveals that Kavinsky claims to have proof about his parents’ murder, Ronan snarls, "You want my blessing or what, Parrish?" and takes a swig from his beer.

When Adam returns to Washington, he finds Kavinsky waiting for him in his apartment with Hennessy, who works for Greenmantle in the art forgery department. Hennessy has somehow discovered that Kavinsky plans to betray Greenmantle [Plot Hole #2] and decides to join him in taking Greenmantle down. Her motivation? She’s tired of Greenmantle threatening her sister Jordan, who’s trying to live a normal, legal life—Jordan has recently started seeing a guy she met at a fundraiser at the art gallery where she works, a fundraiser organized by Senator Cheng (or rather, her assistant, Declan—yes, that guy Jordan's seeing).

Senator Cheng, although powerful, finds herself caught in Greenmantle’s web. He’s blackmailing her, forcing her to vote his way in the Senate, something that frustrates her deeply. Declan notices her odd behavior, which threatens her political career. When he confronts her, she makes a vague comment about someone pulling the strings behind the scenes, leaving Declan to piece it together. Declan eventually reaches out to Gansey, who reveals that Adam might be on the verge of exposing something big.

Kavinsky tells Adam about a major upcoming drug deal that could be Greenmantle’s undoing. The two of them, occassionally joined by Hennessy, work late into the night at Adam’s penthouse, preparing their plan. And sure, Kavinsky is a pain in the ass in many ways, but he’s also pretty smart and cunning, and quite good looking, Adam reckons. He can be quite funny, too.

Things escalate when Greenmantle discovers Kavinsky’s betrayal [Plot Hole #3]. There’s a dramatic car chase through the streets of Washington, with Kavinsky on the phone with Adam, telling him to get Hennessy to safety. Prokopenko, one of Greenmantle’s thugs, shoots out the tires of Kavinsky’s white Mitsubishi, leading to a spectacular crash. The Mitsu is totalled. By some miracle, Kavinsky survives, but he’s injured and unconscious. With a crowd gathering, Prokopenko can’t finish the job, and Kavinsky is taken to the hospital. Adam and Hennessy quickly sneak him out through the back door once he’s stable enough and drive him out of town. ("Make sure he’s asleep. Or better, tie him up." "Why?" "Because if he knows where we’re heading, he might try to jump ouf of the car.")

They’re going to the Barns.

Adam stashes Kavinsky at Ronan’s house, despite Ronan’s fury at the idea. ("I know what happened between you two back then, but I don’t have a choice, Ronan. All the information about your parents... it’s from him.") Ronan’s pissed but restrained by his ankle monitor, so he’s stuck with them. Hennessy calls her sister Jordan, warning her to lay low, and Ronan overhears their strained conversation. He notices how similar Hennessy and Jordan’s relationship is to his with Declan—complicated and distant.

Adam stays at the Barns until Kavinsky is better. They’re forced to wait and adjust their original plan. Adam is on the phone with Gansey constantly, and Gansey’s political connections become crucial to the new strategy [Plot Hole #4].

As Adam, Ronan, and Kavinsky are forced into close proximity, their complicated pasts and unresolved feelings rise to the surface. What starts as antagonism and old attraction gradually turns into an exploration of a polyamorous relationship, surprising all three. The emotional depth, tension, and vulnerability between them add complexity to their interactions.

Meanwhile, Greenmantle, desperate to find Hennessy, manipulates Jordan into luring her sister out. However, this backfires—Declan storms into the art auction John Wick-style to rescue Jordan. During the escape, Declan is shot, but he still manages to get her to safety. His bravery and injury end up deepening his relationship with Jordan (also, he’s undeniably sexy while bleeding, so I can't leave it out).

Greenmantle’s empire begins to collapse. Senator Cheng uses her political maneuvering, Gansey applies his influence, and Adam, with Kavinsky’s help, provides the legal expertise to tighten the net around Greenmantle. In the end, Greenmantle is brought down, but the characters are left to deal with the aftermath.

Declan and Jordan’s relationship becomes serious, while Ronan and Declan begin to rebuild their brotherly bond, slowly healing old wounds. Adam, Ronan, and Kavinsky navigate their new, unconventional relationship as they embrace the possibility of polyamory.

A congressional hearing on the fossil fuel industry’s “evolving efforts to avoid accountability for climate change” turned into a spectacle on Wednesday morning as lawmakers in Washington, D.C., grilled a panel of experts on wide-ranging — and often irrelevant — topics. The thousands of internal oil company documents released before the hearing, however, contained some bombshell findings.

One of the biggest revelations is that BP executives understood that natural gas, which the company promoted as a “bridge” or “destination” fuel to a cleaner future as coal declined, was incompatible with the goals of the Paris Agreement signed in 2015. “[O]nce built, gas locks in future emissions above a level consistent with 2 degrees,” at least without widespread carbon capture technology, according to a comment on a draft outline for a speech by BP’s CEO in 2017.

“This is the first evidence I’ve seen of them acknowledging internally, at the highest levels, that they know this — natural gas is a climate disaster — and yet, they still promote it,” said Richard Wiles, president of the Center for Climate Integrity, an environmental advocacy organization.

At Wednesday’s hearing, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, a Democrat from Rhode Island, invited expert witnesses to talk about the industry’s attempts to shape media coverage and academic research and allegations that they misled the public through deceptive advertising. But Republican lawmakers went off-script, asking questions about boreal forest fires and alleging that reducing fossil fuel production would result in Americans “having to sell blood in order to pay their electricity bill.” At one point, Senator John Kennedy from Louisiana read a list of old Twitter posts in an attempt to discredit Geoffrey Supran, a climate researcher who testified at the event, apparently without realizing that the posts were not written by Supran, although he did retweet one of them.

The hearing was the outcome of a three-year congressional investigation that sought to uncover new information about fossil fuel companies’ history of spreading disinformation about climate change. The first hearing, in October 2021, focused on an early chapter of that history, the 1970s, and drew testimony from executives of BP, Chevron, Exxon Mobil, and Shell, as well as two industry lobbying groups — the American Petroleum Institute and the Chamber of Commerce.

Now, lawmakers have turned their attention to recent history. Ahead of the hearing, they released some 4,500 subpoenaed documents dating back to 2015 that show how oil companies’ internal discussions about the Paris Agreement, methane emissions, and investigations into their own climate denial have diverged from their public statements. The new evidence, summarized in a 60-page report, could be critical for lawsuits alleging that oil companies lied to the public about climate change, since they provide evidence of ongoing deception.

A Russian cabal operated a propaganda site masquerading as a news site called the Voice of Europe. In addition to publishing items designed to undermine confidence in various European governments, it outright made payoffs to various EU politicians.

Investigators claimed it used the popular Voice of Europe website as a vehicle to pay politicians. The Czech Republic and Poland said the network aimed to influence European politics. Voice of Europe did not respond to the BBC's request for comment. Czech media, citing intelligence sources, reported that politicians from Germany, France, Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Hungary were paid by Voice of Europe in order to influence upcoming elections for the European Parliament. The German newspaper Der Spiegel said the money was either handed over in cash in covert meetings in Prague or through cryptocurrency exchanges. Pro-Russian Ukrainian oligarch Viktor Medvedchuk is alleged by the Czech Republic to be behind the network. Mr Medvedchuk was arrested in Ukraine soon after the Russian invasion, but later transferred to Russia with about 50 prisoners of war in exchange for 215 Ukrainians. ' Czech authorities also named Artyom Marchevsky, alleging he managed the day-to-day business of the website. Both men were sanctioned by Czech authorities. Poland's intelligence agency said it had conducted searches in the Warsaw and Tychy regions and seized €48,500 (£41,500) and $36,000 (£28,500).

"Money from Moscow has been used to pay some political actors who spread Russian propaganda," BIS said in a statement. It added that the sums amounted to "millions" of Czech crowns (tens of thousands of pounds).

I went looking for the Voice of Europe site but it is now missing (Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site). So I held my nose and visited their Twitter account and nothing new has been posted since the scandal broke.

We need to be careful when looking at news online. Recently a series of fake sites pretending to be legit US news sources was uncovered.

Russia-Backed ‘Fake News Organizations’ Revealed Across the U.S. in Bombshell New York Times Report

The fake news sites have names that sound like they are legit but aren't. Examples: D.C. Weekly, the New York News Daily, the Chicago Chronicle, and the Miami Chronicle. There is a legit New York Daily News – note the different word order from the fake. There once was a newspaper called the Chicago Chronicle but it folded during the Theodore Roosevelt administration.

Google News searches spew a lot of crap. In a lot of cases the "news" sources on Google are just the proverbial guy in his underwear in his mom's basement posting bullshit. They may not be Russian but they are often dubious.

It's best to create a bookmark folder of known legit news sources. There are still numerous good sources not behind paywalls. And many countries have public broadcasters who post news in English. Just a few: NPR, BBC, DW, CBC, ABC (Australia), RFI, YLE, Radio Sweden | Sveriges Radio, NHK-World, and even EER in Estonia.

When running across a news story which sounds peculiar, check to see if it's being reported in known legit media before posting or sharing it.

There are national elections this year in a number of countries including India, the US, and (probably) the UK. Don't inadvertently assist Putin's effort to spread disinformation and sow chaos.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following in the footsteps of two female detransitioners featured in Independent Women’s Forum’s “Identity Crisis” series who have filed lawsuits against healthcare professionals for medical malpractice, two new bombshell lawsuits have now dropped from the same law firm against the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and prominent healthcare providers. The lawsuits coincide with the AAP’s annual gathering in Washington, D.C., where pediatric providers discuss the latest best practices in pediatrics. Independent Women’s Forum, as part of its work to expose the harms of the gender ideology movement firsthand through “Identity Crisis”, calls the lawsuits groundbreaking and critical to the efforts to protect children.

Campbell Miller Payne, a law firm formed this year out of a heart for individuals who were misled and abused into psychological and physical harm through a false promise of “gender-affirming care,” filed the lawsuits on Friday and Monday for their clients, including a 14-year-old minor who was put on life-altering cross-sex hormones.

Isabelle Ayala, a female detransitioner from Florida is suing the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and her healthcare providers alleging civil conspiracy, fraud, and medical malpractice. The first detransitioner lawsuit in the nation to name the AAP, Isabelle alleges the organization knowingly mislead the public in publishing and disseminating a fraudulent “policy statement” that has been perceived by many as an authoritative guide for the treatment of gender-confused children in the U.S.

Among the providers Isabelle is suing are Dr. Jason Rafferty and Dr. Michelle Forcier. Dr. Forcier is among the country’s most prominent figures on “gender affirming hormones and care plans.” She attained broader national recognition after being featured in Matt Walsh’s “What is a Woman” documentary. 

Dr. Rafferty is the author of the 2018 AAP policy statement that essentially created the “affirmative care” model, as it has become known and implemented throughout the country. That document, the lawsuit alleges, underplayed the known risks of the medical interventions it advocated for and used misleading and fraudulent citations to support its conclusions and recommendations.

At the time of her purported “treatment,” Isabelle was a vulnerable 14-year-old girl suffering from numerous mental health comorbidities, including autism, ADHD, and PTSD from a sexual assault at a young age. Her parents had recently separated, and she moved from Florida to Rhode Island with her father and his girlfriend. Her story, like so many others, involved social isolation and finding trans ideology online, where she discovered community and celebration and was told—and eventually convinced—that she was “trans.” 

After a single, brief meeting with Dr. Rafferty, Isabelle was recommended for testosterone injections, but her mother refused to give consent. In a follow-up meeting, Dr. Rafferty and his team convinced her mother to drop her objection by misrepresenting testosterone as the only available treatment and suggesting that if she did not receive the hormones, Isabelle would commit suicide. Shortly thereafter, Isabelle was put on life-altering cross-sex hormones. She now suffers from a slew of debilitating conditions from the effects of years of testosterone injection, including vaginal atrophy, physical pain, and the triggering of an auto-immune disease only present in males in her family, among others.

Jordan Campbell, Campell Miller Payne counsel for Isabelle, said:

“Isabelle, like too many other vulnerable young adolescents, was an unknowing victim of a fraudulent medical regime that stems from the ideologies of a radical minority. Sadly, the AAP has thrown its support behind them. Isabelle is seeking to hold them and her health care providers accountable for the role they collectively played in causing life-changing damage to her physical and mental health.” 

Campbell Miller Payne filed another lawsuit last Friday against Drs. Rafferty and Forcier, among others, for medical malpractice on behalf of female detransitioner Layton Ulery.

The firm also represents Soren Aldaco and Prisha Mosley, two women featured in Independent Women’s Forum’s “Identity Crisis” series, in their lawsuits against their healthcare providers. Kelsey Bolar, executive producer of the IWF’s “Identity Crisis” series, responds to the new lawsuits:

“Isabelle’s lawsuit represents a historic step in the fight to obtain justice for detransitioners. For too long, health care ‘experts’ have used the AAP as a shield to harm children by encouraging social ‘transition,’ prescribing wrong-sex hormones, and puberty blockers, and performing irreversible surgeries. These guidelines have had serious consequences for individuals, like Isabelle, who now suffer from permanent conditions caused by the proposed treatments. It’s long past time that those responsible for publishing these guidelines face consequences, too.”

The Dulce Base ain’t no campfire tale or tinfoil-hat yarn—it’s the real deal, a shadowy hub of government cover-ups, alien shenanigans, and tech so freaky it’d blow your boots off. This ain’t just a story; it’s a wake-up call, a middle finger to the suits in D.C., and a legacy for every truth-seeker from here to eternity. Strap in, ‘cause we’re divin’ headfirst into the gnarliest conspiracy this side of the Rio Grande.

Jicarilla Voices: Straight-Up Truth from the Locals

Dulce ain’t no Santa Fe tourist trap. It’s a tight-knit town of about 2,600 folks, mostly Jicarilla Apache, livin’ in the shadow of the Mesa. Geraldine Julian, a 78-year-old Apache grandma, don’t mess around when she talks about seein’ a massive spaceship back in the ‘60s, hoverin’ like it owned the place before zippin’ off. “Everybody in Dulce’s seen somethin’,” she says, straight-up. “This ain’t no fairy tale. It’s real as the dirt under my feet.” Tribal security dudes got pics of glowin’ orbs floatin’ at 3 a.m., and daytime shots of discs hidin’ in the clouds. This ain’t Photoshop—this is life out here.

Then there’s the cattle mutilations, the kinda nightmare that’d make a rancher quit. The Gomez family, who’ve been runnin’ cattle for over a hundred years, lost 23 cows, two bulls, and a filly in the ‘70s, all carved up like some sick science project—organs gone, blood all pink and weird, no tracks nowhere. Edmund Gomez says it was a “livin’ hell,” with evidence swiped and creepy phone calls tellin’ ‘em to shut up. Gabe Valdez, a badass ex-cop, dug into it and swore it was government ops, maybe tied to that Project Gasbuggy nuke test in ‘67, just 22 miles down the road. But for the Jicarilla, those dead cows ain’t just a crime scene—they’re proof somethin’ unholy’s goin’ on under the Mesa.

Lorene Willis caught four military choppers buzzin’ the Mesa in 2017, no damn reason for ‘em to be there since there ain’t no bases nearby. Tim Anderson, a former Dulce cop, saw a UFO light up the whole valley like a rock concert, and he’s tracked Bigfoot prints—or somethin’ even weirder—out in the sticks. For the Jicarilla, this ain’t random weirdness; it’s all tied to a secret base, hummin’ away underground, messin’ with their land and their lives.

Dulce Base: Where Aliens and Suits Cut Shady Deals

This ain’t your grandpa’s military base. Dulce’s supposed to be a seven-level-deep underground fortress, a freaky-ass mix of sci-fi lab and alien hangout. Paul Bennewitz, a brainy dude from Albuquerque, caught radio signals in the ‘70s comin’ from under Dulce, blastin’ out to the stars. His take? The feds cut a deal in ‘66, somethin’ called the “Plato Act,” tradin’ human and cow abductions for alien tech—antigravity, lasers, stealth jets, the works. Grays and Reptilians, those creepy ETs, got the green light to snatch folks in exchange for givin’ Uncle Sam a leg up.

Phil Schneider, a hard-as-nails engineer who said he helped build the place, dropped a bombshell about the “Dulce War” in ‘79. He claimed Delta Force got into a firefight with pissed-off aliens, losin’ 60 guys to some kinda energy weapon that damn near cooked him too. Phil got whacked in ‘96—cops called it suicide, but any fool can smell a cover-up. Then there’s the “Dulce Papers,” leaked by a guy named Thomas Castello, spillin’ the beans on labs churnin’ out human-alien hybrids, lizard-man chimeras, and God-knows-what-else. Mainstream calls ‘em fake, but out here, those papers are like the freakin’ Bible of truth.

Word is, Dulce’s hooked up to a whole network of Deep Underground Military Bases—DUMBs, they call ‘em—with tunnels stretchin’ to Los Alamos, Area 51, even under the damn ocean. Posts on X from folks like

If you think Dulce’s just a wild story, check the history books. Area 51 was a “figment” till 2013, when the CIA fessed up it was real, testin’ spy planes like the U-2 and F-117. Dulce ain’t just a place; it’s a battle cry. It’s proof the powers-that-be are feedin’ us a load of BS, keepin’ us in the dark while they play God with alien tech and our lives.
