Decided to try painting a lil

(I know it's not that great, but I tried)

Ok, but the main problem with painting this was that I've lost the paint I originally used for it, and when I came back to finish painting it, I could only find an alternative that I kinda just didn't vibe with.

But whatever, it turned out much better than I initially expected. I think it's worth it for me to just keep going cuz I had fun making it, and even if it's not the best, I still feel like I've learned a lot about art and I can't wait to see how much I can keep improving if I just continue

Okay, finally I've reached the weekend, so that means I'll be able to actually upload stuff tomorrow! I've been super drained throughout this week. Honestly, my last daily gemsona art's background story was just written in a stream of cosciusness.

Honestly, I just find it funny, that Steven would probably try to redeem this guy (which I doubt would happen, if we stick to canon) but it's just beyond hilarious if these two:

my drawing skills still aren't the best, but I think I've been improving slowly-but-surely

also, I have a cool watermark now (D4B→shortening of 'Disdain for Bruossonetia', but it's also similar to D4C, so hell yeah)

If you look closely, the pearl from the album cover is on Lapis' left arm in the drawing. Yes, that was intentional.

Pearl's jacket is this tapestry of the peaches of immortality, from the Ming dynasty:

the two han characters highlighted on her are 仙, and 桃, which together mean the Peach of Immortality (lit. immortal(in this context) peach)

the star on her clothes is this painting, called Hibiscus, by Georgia O'Keeffe:

since the star symbolism and the whole Crystal Gems thing would remind her of Rose, and I think you know why I used a painting about hibiscuses to represent this

Pearl is made from the painting, Girl with Flower, by Tô Ngọc Vân

the way the hand reaching for the flower was implemented in my drawing was supposed to go with the motion of Lapis' hand wiping away Pearl's tears, symbolising how this action would mean a new flower(relationship)

her hair is the album cover for Black Sabbath's Paranoid:

Her gem is this picture I took of my grandma's carpet:

Also, the reason I used low quality phone pictures of these old stuff for their gems, is to show how gems aren't as perfect and pristine as they were initially created

I mainly used this for the bright and vibrant colours used in it, but also because my favorite song from this album is titled "Don't Cry"

Free trial for ClipStudio expired, but I'm a cheap bastard, so I just downloaded Krita and drew another human Peridot

Honestly, I'm not proud of this one, but I've spent so much time on it, so might aswell post it. Krita is a bit clunkier to use for me

Kinda just felt compelled to make this. Been afflicted by perimania recently and I probably got it from Anatoli, so blame him for this.

I just got my first (non-scambot) follower, and he's also a Tumblr artist, so I couldn't help but draw fanart of my fav piece from them to show my appreciation

Update on my attempts to learn digital art: Trying out ClipStudio

I'll never stop worshipping the power of stabilization.

the first drawing was just trying it out, then the second one was a tracing of the picture shown.

and the third one is what I'm most proud of, it was made using this screenshot as a reference pic:

I'm actually super proud of the sketch I made for it too!

I can't wait to keep getting better at drawing! This is already a huge improvement compared to my previous digital drawing.

Also, huge thanks to @what-1dk for recommending me the app and giving me some tips on how he does it. If you haven't yet, check his drawings out too, there's some pretty great stuff there!
