what's your wordgirl hot take ❓❓ 🫵🫵
Wordgirl shouldn't have another resurgence because it'd be 2022 all over agian
#wordgirl#I love this show but it's fine being a small fandom imo#Because the 2022 fandom resurgence there were uh....sure were a lot of things going on#Biggest pet peeve was the botsford erasure and how people excused tobeys actions and hated Violet and Victoria#On top of that the tobecky made no sense#Like I'm not saying that as someone who doesn't ship them im saying that as someone who's seen how people will write out certain things to-#Ship them when like. Tobey has a lot of growing to do#And they made Becky automatically forgive him#Sorry I'm ranting but as someone who was around 2022 who used to follow the crowd#There was a loooot of stuff looking back that I don't like#On the topic of botsford erasure: I get that the villains being found family to wordgirl is a really cool idea (I myself think so)#But in 2022 all of the aus that would be the “found family” would have like. 0 botsford. Not even trying to incorporate them#Like that's her family and I feel like they were replaced in favor of those aus#That's why I don't like dadbrains aus tbh#I should shut up now

So I like dadbrain but I also obviously don't want to discredit the Botsfords so I think I have an idea.
The Botsfords are still Becky's parents
Twobrain is specifically Wordgirls legal guardian / parent (not Becky's) when he was Steven. It helped with keeping her identities seperate and secret. You know Becky can't be Wordgirl because Wordgirls dad is Steven not the Botsfords. Becky and Steven planned it when she created her wordgirl persona and Steven was honored when she asked if he wanted to be the "parent" of her hero persona.
Steven has some parental protective instincts over Wordgirl but he's treated more like a mentor and friend. He makes sure not to overstep and is just glad he gets to play a important role. He does enjoy acting like a parent when he can and plays his role. And some of those do carry onto Two brains, though maybe twobrains thinks he's actually word girls parent... If he's forgotten who Wordgirls true identity is. If he does remember Wordgirls identity then he's still playing his role and not telling anyone else who Wordgirls real identity is.

Wordgirl Rewired fact: DTB and Tobey probably have movie nights when Mrs. McCallister has to work especially late and DTB is stuck watching this problem child for longer than he’d planned
depending on the day they will either watch Ratatouille like three times in a row (much to Tobey’s chagrin), or a bunch of Barbie movies (neither of them will admit they enjoy it, and the only reason DTB has them is because the henchmen used to watch them)
We need you 🫵 to help us bring this reboot to life. Click here if you’re interested in being an artist for this project (don’t worry, it’s b&w animatics, not full animation)
Have some doodles of the copy shop family while you’re at it

In future AU, what is Two brains relationship with Wordgirl now? Is he sad that's she's growing up? Not just in teen years but after that. Are they in contact?
Oh! Coolio! A Two-brains future au ask. Weirdly, i don't get much of those. Thanks for the ask!
As for that. It's kind of bittersweet with them. They obviously are more friendlier in Future AU, and a shift in them not really taking their roles too seriously. Two-brains is going through it with the mouse brain, and he has his whole separate storyline about it, which does include Wordgirl, who learns to let Steven go. (Sorry, Steven fans, he's practically dead in the future). Other than that, yeah, I would say he's sad on her growing up. While I don't do dadbrains with WG/Becky in this AU, he still probably has some thoughts about seeing her grow up too fast in his eyes and that soon she will most likely have better things to do than fight villians like them. Two-brains is smart, and he knows Wordgirl well enough now since the 7-year time skip. He knows that at this point that she won't be Wordgirl for too long, and that does sadden him like the other villains (it won't be fun as it would without her) but he's accepted it more than others and just wishes her the best. ↓ ↓ ↓
Past her teen years, though. As expected, they don't really have much contact. Wordgirl effectively retired when she's older and "has not been seen in years," so it's not like she can just visit Two-brains. That would cause a media frenzy. But texing is a thing, so it's not too much of a problem to at least shoot some short messages. But Two-brains does know that she is Becky. She sorta soft revealed that information after she retired to him as some last form of trust. Two-brains, while he knows it would be a golden chance to expose it, decided to keep it a secret. After all, he's mellowed out on being too evil by that point, being a dad to two lab babies and aging. Plus, he doesn't think it's relevant anyway. He is only just a bit salty he couldn't figure it out in his prime (lol no one tell him). Oh, and he would owe Lady Redundant Woman and Butcher so much money since Tobey technically did end up with Wordgirl. That betting pool was not in his favor, so like hell is he going to tell people.

if you were to rewrite wordgirl what would you change
I think I would have liked the show better if Becky and Bob didn't get adopted by the Botsfords until the series finale.
I would have write the prologue about Bob deciding to raise Becky on his own cause he's not sure how humans will react to her powers.
But being a monkey can only get him so far and he ended up getting help from Steven.
So Bob is still Becky's guardian, but Steven helps with the money so he's either an uncle to Becky or her second dad.
and then everything went wrong because of Squeaky.
The Dadbrains au make so much sense with this.
So now it's back to square one, except Becky has abandonment issues now along with trust issues because the city keeps stabbing her in the back.
Enter, Sally Botsford, the civilian that Wordgirl has the closest relationship with. They often worked together and are the only people with braincells among their coworkers.
They were friends at the start, but then it evolved to something more familial when Miss Power arrives.
Miss Power didn't accept how Becky does her work but Sally does. And Becky is starting to appreciate that.
So the perfect series finale for this is Becky getting adopted by the Botsfords.

Dr.Two-brains & Dr.Boxeitner Dad AU headcannons;
Btw in this au Becky [and Bob] was adopted by Steven and 2brains is also kinda her second father
Steven bought like 30 different parenting books when he adopted Becky
2brains still takes care of Becky even though they have the whole 'villain and superhero' thing going on
Take your daughter to work day is really awkward for 2brains and Becky
Steven would be one of those dads who makes sure his kid has literally everything she could ever need, but then forgets to take care of himself
Every Father's day Becky buys 2brains some fancy cheese [same goes for 2brains' birthday lmao]
One time Steven forgot to eat for like 3 days because Becky got the cold and he was too busy worrying about her to remember to eat
2brains is the meme of 'dad who didn't want dog but then sleeps with it on his lap' with Bob
Becky & Bob get tired of having Cheesey foods every time 2brains makes dinner, so 2brains will sometimes let Becky chose dinner [to squeaky's dissapointment lol]
When Tobey met Becky's dad[s] it was one hell of a surprise

Bestie rant about the DadBrain AU for us please 🙏😤 we need more of it
ALWAYS you know i'm down
Some headcanons for the vanilla au as it is (if this conflicts with something the og creators said just pretend it’s not there):
(also reminder this is like. My specific version of the au with how I like to interpret the characters sjdhls)
Much like in the actual show the city is unaware of anything about WG’s private life, so they didn’t know she was Boxlietner’s daughter and they don’t know she’s Twobrain’s daughter. HOWEVER, some citizens HAVE been suspicious of Wg’s “True alliances” because they have caught her being friendly with Tb, and the press sees her hanging around his warehouse often
I like to imagine there’s an “episode” in this au where one of the other villains takes advantage of this paranoia, because Fair City is just far too happy to turn on wg, and it spirals into convincing everyone that WG is secretly planning some sort of alien invasion with the help of the eeeeeevil scientist Doctor Twobrains
It’s unclear in the show if the majority of the city knows that Boxlietner is Twobrains, but there were likely a lot of complications with the people who did know Steven before.
Becky tries to keep her parentage a secret after Squeaky happens to avoid being taken away by child services
A rumor spreads that Becky is an orphan among the other kids because Steven is nowhere to be seen ever since he changed into TB
This rumor causes a whole fiasco leading to the authorities indeed being called, and TB has to go through a significant amount of hijinks to prove that he’s still a capable parent. Becky has to help him.
After TB being her father is revealed he is just (in Becky’s eyes) The worst about it. Like this man is the PTA king, he fights with the Karen moms and flirts with every other single (sometimes not single) parent at the school. He flirts with her teacher too which makes Becky actively want to arrest him right then and there. He also brings Becky’s things she forgot at home in THE most flamboyant way possible. He’s not doing it on purpose, he’s just like that, but he’s never opposed to embarrassing his beloved daughter/nemesis.
Violet is worried for Becky at first and Scoops writes a paper on it. Becky has them over for a playdate and makes tb PROMISE to making Violet feel at ease
Charlie and Meatloaf stay up late and watch Pretty Princess with her behind TB’s back
Whenever TB goes to Jail Becky can just come over and hang out. It’s like their second house at this point.
The other villains are generally very fond of Becky and will chat with her when she’s over at the prison. Whenever they curse wordgirl’s name or vow their revenge in front of her she and TB share a look like “I know something you donnnn’t”
TB teases her relentlessly about both Tobey and Scoops
If TB commits a crime during the school day (he tries not to but the mouse wants what it wants y'know) Sometimes he’ll chastise Becky for leaving school, and Becky is just like ಠ_ಠ
One time TB almost got away with a crime because he also stole her favorite ice cream and said they could have it after dinner if she let him get away. ALMOST.
I like to imagine in this AU whatever father/daughter problems they have don’t really come from Squeaky, that’s just treated like a business thing, but they come from issues that the characters already had (like, yknow, in life)
Steven and TB both have a tendency to get hyper focused on something to the point where Becky might feel a little neglected, but once he gets a sense of this he goes absolutely overboard with trying to make it up to her, and it’s just too much because she just wants to spend time with him
Becky gets really paranoid that her dad is going to hurt himself with an invention, and it only got worse when he became TB. She invades his privacy and invalidates his trust in her around his lab a lot without realizing it because of this.
Steven was really good friends with Sally and Tim, and reconnected with them after the cat got let out of the bag (so to speak) that he was Twobrains. Tj and Becky see each other a lot because of this and still have the exact same sibling dynamic, to the point where they will just refer to each other as “my annoying older sister/annoying little brother”
The episode where he lets Squeaky take control still happens (Squeaky forces it more this time around) but in this version Becky thinks she can get through to TB that he’s going too far and might actually kill her, so she gets shot and then when TB comes back in control he holds her in his arms yelling for her to come back to him
After Becky gets the shit kicked out of her and her heart broken in Rhyme and Reason Twobrains decides that he’s permanently grounding her from being a superhero because we as a society need to make that episode even more painful for Becky
It all works out in the end ofc and things go back to the status quo
Twobrains has been secretly trying and failing to make a device that can contact Lexicon for Becky. He’s still trying.

Some fluff for you.
Dr.Two-Brains/Steven keeps a drawing Becky has drew for him in his pocket, he often looks at it when he is feeling down, angry or feeling overwhelmed. It helps him calm down and feel happier than he was before looking at it.
At one point. When he still had the mouse brain, he had a choice of the drawing or cheese. He chose the drawing with no hesitation.
-gordan ramsey voice- Finally some good fluff/hj
yes I do believe his dad instincts out weighs his cheese cravings. Squeaky can go kick rocks for all he cares. What matters is his kiddo u-u

A father’s love part 1/2
“I promise I’ll always take care of her. As of right now, that’s what I’ll do.” swore the brunette looking out his house’s window. That made the primate in a blue tunic look up while tucking in a smaller infant out like a light. He could almost hear a sob come out of the man looking outside, but it quickly stopped as a smile carefully spread to prevent any tears.
“I may not remember all the details, but I know he had his hands full with me.”
At least 2 years later...
“Food Now.” demanded the girl, wearing a short sleeved olive green dress and hair tied up in pigtails.
“It’s almost ready Becky, just wait for the other side.” responded Steven at the stove.
“Food Now!” the girl barked louder.
“Hon, I’m sorry-” retorted the preoccupied adult.
“FOOD NOW!” shouted the girl, the sound almost deafening.
“Becky!” reprimanded Steven.
That made her stop and she scampered back to the living room ever so cranky.
“He said I’d accidentally use my powers whenever I got upset... which happened a lot according to him.”
That’s when Bob calmly walked into the living room and casually set down a small bowl of finger sized cheese crackers sandwiches on the smooth coffee table. Suddenly there was a curious look in the Toddler’s eye and she made her way over to where Bob sat.
“Oh thanks Bob! You’re a lifesaver! Just let her have three of those, I’m almost done with her lunch!” called Steven to which the chimp gave a wink and a finger gun.
“There we go!” exclaimed Steven as he placed freshly washed broccoli and baby carrots next to tender, crisp animal head shaped nuggets. Then he made his way over to the living room, picked up Becky and perched her on his hip. Bob caught on with the gentle body language and walked with Steven over to the dinner table.
“Be careful, it’s still hot.” cooed Steven as he buckled her into a red and yellow high chair.
“OK.” answered Becky, taking a piece of broccoli.
“My appetite was nowhere near voracious as Bob’s, but I’d still take my Dad’s cooking over any other cuisine in the world.”
“Dad always counted on Bob to take care of me while he was busy with school.”
Tugging at the tablecloth, the anxious monkey rushed towards the toddler who stopped yanking the cloth, and doesn’t notice Bob getting his noggin bonked from a hard napkin holder.
“Dad had to be careful with funds, and finding part time work was hard.”
As Steven was busy with a written assignment, Becky started climbing up a wooden drawer, (much to the dismay of Bob). Not even at the top, when the large drawer started tipping over.
“Aaaah!.” cried out Becky, that made Steven turn and boy did his eyes increase in size.
“Oh No!” exclaimed the brunette as he managed to stop it from toppling. Thanks to that reflex, he steadily placed it upright with Becky’s strength, and closed all the drawers.
“That was close.” exhaled Steven, feeling his heart rate return to normal.
@skitl and @ninjastormhawkkat have this really wholesome AU where Becky’s adopted by Steven Boxleitner and I felt like writing this scenario!

A Becky Boxlitner AU for my soul.
Becky is the adoptive daughter of Dr. Boxlitner (aka 2 Brains).
2 Brains knows she’s WordGirl and it can be a bit awkward but overall she loves her dad a lot. She’s isolated from most of the town other than villains due to her dad. However she befriends Tobey through shared isolation from their peers (and tech knowledge). Scoops is constantly hounding her for information about 2 Brains.
2 Brains developed an emergency necklace for her to wear (it’s in the shape of a mouse) once he realized how much the town started to distrust his daughter just because she’s his daughter. He often feels guilty but Squeaky forces that away with the need for cheese (and thus a cycle).

a really dumb, cursed idea I had
Okay so I've seen some stuff about an au where Professor Boxleitner adopted Becky, and in most of these the accident still happens. Heck, I've seen some where Two Brains knows Becky is WordGirl.
So this got me wondering something kinda cursed
What if there was a verison of this where Steven adopts Becky then the accident occurs and he becomes Dr. Two Brains
However, somehow, the same thing happens to WordGirl.
What i mean by this is somehow she gets fused with another mouse.
Basically, the idea is that WordGirl somehow gets tricked and trapped by another villain, who managed to get their hands on some lexonite which they used to make chains and then the machine. Then right before he does the thing he calls Two Brains to come over because he "found a way to get rid of her".
So then when he comes over, the villain says he is going to "bring her over to the dark side", when Two Brains asks what the hell he is talking about he shows him. Dr. Two Brains is immediately like "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!?!" since the thing that has happened to him is now happening to WordGirl, but this time it's happening due to another person's interference and not due to her own recklessness.
He tells him not to do it but he presses the button anyway... and instantly realizes he effed up big time and makes is escape. WordGirl gets untied and Two Brains explains everything that had happened, she then also runs away and goes back home, puts on a hat and scarf to hide her face, hair, and second brain that she now has. When Two Brains gets back home Becky tries to pretend that everything is normal, but then upon closer examination he notices her eyes are suddenly reddish from lacking pigment. At which point Becky gives up and takes of her scarf and hat and tells him what happened. Oh! and this is the first moment when Dr. Two Brains knows his daughter is WordGirl So yeah, cursed ideas just come to me.

((I'm really tempted to write a dadbrains au fic just because I love the comedic potential of Wg and Two-Brains fighting it out but then them both having to be home by 6PM for dinner. And idk which would be funnier, Two-Brains knowing that Becky is wordgirl or not knowing that at all.))

Hey um quick question? How does the Kid Math arc go in your Dadbrains universe? How does Kid Math react to Becky and TB's relationship?
The kid math arc goes pretty similar!
There's some extra gags about Kid Math just outright calling DTB Wordgirl's dad in public and Becky slaps her hand over his mouth and tries to make him shush about it. Rex repeatedly says that her relationship with her father "does not compute" and that they, by all logic, shouldn't be family.
He doesn't mean anything by it of course, it just doesn't make sense and he can't understand why Becky is so hesitant to talk about it.
Rex does keep badgering her about it, trying to understand how she, as a moral hero, would care for an immoral villain and vice versa. It starts to make Becky a bit upset
R- "You seem to be avoiding my questions! On hexagon, we make sure to solve every question to completion, and this simply is quite a perplexing-"
B- "Just stop! You don't even know- ugh, you're not even a real superhero! You have. NO right. TO JUDGE ME."
"..."
"..."
R- "I'm not always good at... factoring in emotions. Clearly I have gone too far. I'm sorry."
B- "Let's just go finish the mission."
They make up before the end of the episode and come to an understanding!
Also Rex ends up begrudgingly enjoying spending time with DTB when he's not being cheese-crazy, because like, science man do math good.
Rex and dtb are sus of eachother at first (and both protective of Becky, esp when Rex starts to form more of a brotherly relationship with her) but grow to bong over time 100% because I need found family everywhere
