I do the cooking, I do the cleaning, but it's mihawk pulling herbs, baking bread, sewing clothes, brewing beer, buying artisan lace (for perona) expensive cologne (for zoro) writing long letters to shanks for advice on how to "talk to young people without frightening them," and "how to set a curfew" bitching under his breath as he irons (zoro's shirts ) complaining about the time he's wasting as he makes macrons (for perona) writing more letters to shanks, putting in a store of scented candles, pulling tulips to leave in a jar in the kitchen, leaving blueprints to the mansion in plain and obvious sight, sending the pink silk he ordered back because it's not the right shade of pink, more letters to shanks telling him that these damn kids are driving him insane- the kicker is that he. at any point. does not have to do. any of this.

A Mishanks/Redhawk single dad fic idea my brain is craving:

Mihawk ends up adopting a snotty brat. He tried his best to avoid this, but he still somehow ended up with one tiny Trafalgar Law intruding in his daily living space.

Shanks doesn't have kids, but he often looks after the ASL brothers on the playground. Some of the brats admire him, but he loves to tease them. Especially a tiny red head, always trying to brawl with Luffy and a recently visiting edgy kid.

While the kids are wrecking havoc, the totally adulty adults are somehow forced to acknowledge each other. They start their own kind of metaphorical dick measuring contest (turning literal).

The two aren't any better, they're even worse than the kids, tbh. Who let's themselves get riled up by some little shits? Right, these two grown ass men!

But they're old softies, deep down.

So, yes, I'm craving that chaotic found family trope.

If anyone has written or plans to write something like this, please let me know!

Otherwise I'll just park my idea here, waiting until I can get to this (only the stars will know when that will be)..

#genuinely obsessed with mihawk having baby fever in hus mid 40's#but like also perona and zoro are old so taking care of them is easier (debatable) he was so blinded by baby fever he didnt do the math#the math that is taking care of actual babies is much different he didnt think about the milk the diapers the burps#shanks actually gets him a baby#mihawk didnt think about the babysitting issue so now he straps the baby to the front and yoru to the back n off to adventure!#zoro has baby trauma from that one time he babysat a bunch of toddlers (cant reference from where i dont remember lol)#but he is good with them#perona on the other hand finally has smthn cute to dress up without a fuss#shanks' logic is i got u the baby and that means I'm the other father which also means we're married and now you're trapped#mihawk really hates the diapers part tho like really Lmaooo he immediately agrees to whatever gordian-knot logic Shanks is using to say that they're married just to be able to split the parenting duties (diapers) with him 20/80. Shanks can't say anything because hey, he got himself into that one. It takes care of the babysitting issue too, at some point (almost decapitating the baby) Mihawk realizes it's unwise to bring a baby to a swordfight and so the baby spends most of their time in a play pen on the Red Forces' deck. Not the safest place either, but hey. When Shanks isn't available the baby goes to Zoro, and baby trauma aside, the Thousand Sunny is temporarily converted a kindergarten. Or to Perona, who always returns the baby stuffed full of strawberry bon-bons and with six new giant stuffed animals. Someone at some point suggests a nanny and Mihawk gets really pissy. Because it's the hands-on nature of having a kid that he craves, even though he's finding ways to only do 12% of the work.

Mihawk showing up on the Red Force a single day after Zoro and Perona have left to ask Shanks if children are indeed routinely found in treasure chests: Shanks, amused beyond all human capacity: Lmaoo I'm pretty sure I was a special case but I'll get you a baby babe

I firmly believe that Zoro and Perona are the worst siblings ever in the sense of.. they are super close, they tell each other everything, trust each other with their lives, but they also rip into and shittalk each other mercilessly

And THAT is the worst because if you don't know them or aren't a Luffy-level emotionally intelligent person, you have zero idea that's just their love language and/or just one big inside joke, that they only tease each other over stuff they 100% know doesn't matter and it's totally consensual

The amount of times that Mihawk had to be called to school because some kid thought it was a great idea to say something bad to Zoro/Perona about the other and got beaten up for it is frankly ridiculous and Nami has a town-wide betting poll on "X days since swordgoth's last bullshit"

(Mihawk always wins)

(Nami has Shanks on speed dial and always videocalls him when witnessing a beatdown because the man thinks it's really fucking funny (he pays her for this))

Anyways dadhawk au content (Owl in the hawks nest au)

TLDR

Mihawk has a daughter in this au, he had her when he was 23 and was very much not properly prepared to be a parent. He had to keep her under wraps from others (mainly the world government knowing that they’d use her against him). Fast forward into the future and the two have a fight that results in Owlette leaving while Mihawk is gone & taking up her new identity as “Night owl, Selene”. Mihawk is a man who enjoys his alone time but whenever he goes back to that empty castle, the silence always seems so much more loud.
