You guys, I really wanted to like Daimidaler: Prince vs Penguin Empire. I mean, I really wanted to - it’s like Seth Rogan made an anime by dumping Fritz the Cat, Woody Allen’s Sleeper, and Meiou Project Zeorymer in a paper bag with some spices and chicken bits and shook the daylights out of it. The premise is far too shroom-trip-borne to NOT send anyone's curiosity down the rabbit hole: humanoid penguins (with oversized phallic “front tails”) have invaded earth in penguin-shaped mecha, and the only way to fight against them is in specialized earth mecha powered by pervy mind-power. The protagonist has to grope his copilot to activate his powers, but it turns out he sucks at it and has to learn how to unlock his potential. Are you with me so far? If you’re thinking it sounds like a Brazzer’s sci-fi porno script that would make you roll your eyes so far into the back of your head you could stare down your own throat, you’re not too far off. Except it’s worse, because instead of 12 minutes, it’s 12 episodes. 

I couldn’t even make it through the 4th one, it just got too stupid, too overwhelmingly bad, and too pointless. But I did laugh. I laughed my brains out at just how ridiculous it got and they were still trying to make some of the characters be serious despite the obvious anarchy towards convention going on all around them. I’m full aware that no one was intending Daimidaler to be anything even passable as an anime, the whole thing was meant to be like old Sandler movies - just too stupid not to laugh along with - and I did at first, it just went too far too fast for me and I lost interest really, really quickly because it’s... well, it’s bad. So very, very bad. 

Which is sad, because yeah... I did want to like it. Is too batshit crazy not to have at least taken it for a spin.

Daimidaler 2-gata is a much better character design than it has any right to be

It’s the perfect lead robot for a horny mech anime featuring a scrawny pervert of a main character, because a.) it’s a weird scrawny robot, not a manly broad shouldered action hero like most mecha

b.) it’s left arm is huge and powerful, which gives it a focal point for it’s attacks and makes it seem plausible that such a thin robot could actually be a powerful combatant. Also, since we’re operating on an extremely horny and immature level here, it's like this robot has jerked off so much that it’s dominant arm got super buff. 

c.) It has long hair, which serves much the same function as a cape or large shoulders, making it seem larger and more dramatic, and allowing for a flowing line of action during movement.

Why are opening themes for Ecchi animes such a fucking BOP?

I mean maybe it’s just me, but To-Love Ru, High School DxD, and Kenzen Robo Daimidaler all have like, amazing OP music! (Warning for lewd visuals)

Like what’s the deal here, why are these all so good when the actual animes are firmly in the guilty pleasure/unsalvageable garbage territory?

So I made a Too Many to Watch list a few years ago, which was made up of all dubbed anime and people seemed to find it good/handy so here’s an updated list some years later now. Again they are all dubbed/going to be dubbed so enjoy my dub brethren :D

P.S the list is even longer now and I still haven't watched half the shows from the first list, guess I didn't call it too many to watch for nothing lol :’D
