#daisy and bashira and Tim? a little less consensus

It’s actually really interesting to me.
You start out with more variety. Common theme of the few things described in the podcast, and often like, a color from the podcast.
Then as more and more fanart is made, a pretty consistent character design is born? Everyone influences eachother to the point where there’s a sort of expectation for the design, and it’ll look weird if it’s significantly different. People still have their own designs it’s just there’s a few features that make the character recognizable, even though the character doesn’t actually canonically have any of those features.
Over time the norm for the character design might change a bit, especially if a popular artist does something a little different. It’s just fun to see how we’re all inspired by each other and end up sort of collectively designing a character.
fanart for podcast characters is so funny like how do you know
#like I can recognize a Jon and a Martin#daisy and bashira and Tim? a little less consensus#for TMA#malevolent is another good example#Oscar has got a specific look. the darkish curls and freckles like you see him looking like that a lot#it’s not that all the designs look the same#it’s just like#there’s some features that become the default#as the design for that character yk#anyway the shift over time I feel like Nightvale designs have shifted#older vs newer art#it’s been around long enough you can like#see the influences of the time ig lol#Quinn replies#podcasts#fiction podcast#I feel like Sydney is very recognizable but I haven’t seen all that much camp here and there stuff#anyway there are a lot#it’s funny tho because I am just not someone who imagines characters appearance much#like at all really#I don’t think of them as visual characters (until I see fanart)#I just don’t tend to think in pictures quite like that#I love all the fanart
