Kokichi summer outfit! And the 3 ways he can wear it! :)
I'm not the best at fashion🙇🙇, but I do have an interest in designing outfits for the cast... Drawing just takes me forever because I get distracted so easily.🧶

Danganronpa, Akudama Drive, and Tribe Nine exist in the same universe and in this essay I
#This isn't a new theory but I haven't seen someome string all three (4 now? If you include the T9 game?) series together#My only issue is whether Akudama Drive would take place before or after Tribe Nine#The DR trio love sci-fi dystopians but also each of these exist in a way where they can easily co-exist#Also I haven't touched Rain Code yet so#FriedTalk#Danganronpa#Akudams Drive#Akudrive#Tribe Nine

Is there any rhyme or reason to how the deaths are portrayed in the Future Arc opening? I have theories.
Kyoko being hung seems like a reference to her leaning into her NG code. Most hangings aren't voluntary and her "death" wasn't either. She did choose Makoto over herself. Why all the extra blood though? ALSO YOUR BLOOD IS SUPPOSED TO BE PURPLE.
Asahina's stab to the belly is foreshadowing Monaca's trick. It wants you to believe it's real. That one is easy.
Sonosuke dies by NG Code in a betrayal to Ruruka. He appears to be getting set on fire in the opening. I've seen speculation to this referencing Jesus's and Joan of Arc's martyrdoms. This one is tenuous other than being crucified on a giant metal cross because, blacksmith.
Seiko is impaled by a lot of hypodermic needles. She's the Ultimate Pharmacist. Moving on.
Sakakura is cut in half and there isn't any blood. Really clear: he's being killed by Munakata's katana. Less clear: maybe there's some foreshadowing to his impending amputation.
Tengan is wrapped up in wiring and appears to be getting electrocuted. I dunno Mr. Mastermind, is that a hint that you're pulling Monokuma's strings? I doubt it.
Ruruka is frozen and shattered to pieces. She's kind of a complicated character and she ends up choosing her own life over those of her best friend and the person she loves. She dies trying to convince herself that she's going to be fine and that it's going to be easy to replace what she has lost. The poet in me wants to make some connections to the coldness of her actions or how she has to break herself by the end of the game, but it could equally just be random.
Bandai appears to be covered in blood, though my first instinct was it's actually indicating blood poisoning because he's the first one to go out via NG Code. I really do think that's what it was aiming for.
Gekkogahara is cut in half vertically. There is no blood and she appears to be hollow. I've always assumed this is to foreshadow that Monaca is posing as her.
Yasuhiro is wrapped in thorny vines. He's an interesting inclusion because he's the only one that doesn't actually participate in Monokuma Hunter despite being included in the opener.
Chisa looks like her wrist is cut and there are boxcutters in the background. Obviously this indicates her suicide and it isn't surprising as the dark realization of DR3 is that she was lost a long time before anybody ever knew she was. The interesting thing is that her blood looks like it's coming from the bangle, which could be because her actions aren't really her fault.
Gozu is wrapped in chains. I think this is meant to invoke his actual death, despite it being chains instead of cables.
Mitarai is impaled by arrows. He survives the series, so this one is curious. The only reference to arrows through the rest of Danganronpa is in Mukuro's trial in Trigger Happy Havoc. Byakuya speculates that they were tied together with duct tape and used as a blunt object to knock her out. I've seen it posed that this is a reference to Tengan's chuusen and shows that he's being targeted. I heavily doubt it.
Koichi is wrapped up at his wrists, thighs, and ankles. A bandage is covering his eyes and mouth. He sacrifices himself to save Kyoko by triggering his NG Code. It seems like his hat, tie, shoes, and flask are bagged up. I like to think that's because Kyoko is present for his death, as she would be the only one focused on preserving evidence.
Last off we get Munakata and Makoto shooting themselves in the head. They're paired because they represent the directions the Future Foundation can go and their suicides are an obvious clue to the true nature of the killer in Monokuma Hunter.

Was curious about what the v3 rewrite with the highest word count was on Ao3, so I checked; excluding crossovers, it’s Danganronpa: String Theory by NeoStarReset with over 800k words and counting. Also features an OC protag! So you’re definitely not alone here
With crossovers though, word counts reach over one million. I’m honestly impressed
I have NEVER heard of that one but I had no idea there were so many rewrites with OC protagonists!
I think I've heard of two others now??? It actually makes me nervous about AWBHT :'D Idk why but I thought Rochi was the only Protag OC out there. Guess I just never heard of the others? ;3;

Edit: Episode 15 has English subs now! The investigation of chapter 2 has begun!
Reactions to Danganronpa The After Episode 15:
Ohhhhhh Konoe's bullshit meter had a lot to do this time lol
Everything is stacked against Hatami but it also doesn't make sense from a gut feeling and a "He would do a premeditated murder better than this" perspective.
My boy is due to experience some power of friendship!
He will probably not make this easy tho.
Seki is really pushing Hatami as a culpit super hard lol
I also saw that Konoe tried to ask questions about Seki and Ueda being outside their rooms during the alarms, only to get interrupted.
My girl has good instincts but bad luck.
The After seems to continue the trend of heavily referencing the first Danganronpa game with the male changing room and cord.
I'm sure we'll be thrown for a loop tho~
My first impression feels weird since this feels like a suicide, but that would make no sense unless Kirigiri wants to take Seki down with her too.
So it must be a trap instead in which Hatami accidently kills Kirigiri.
But I also don't like that theory since I really want to keep Hatami lol
So the big question is who will be executed for this?
Seki absolutely had a big hand in this but killing him off so soon would waste potential...
I have no clue who I want to be the culpit🙈
I don't know yet how exactly everything fits together but I'm curious about the cords and the strings...

Sometimes I wonder if I should've kept Tri-God to myself (and Jonnie).
Don't get me wrong, everyone who's shown love for it is beyond appreciated, but I've found that in a lot of fandoms--COTL especially--OC works aren't nearly as loved as any AU or alternate timeline or Narilamb story. There are some exceptions, of course, with rampantram's delightful Ewe AU being one, and OCs (followers, etc.) are still shown some love. But for most of us, it's an uphill battle when an OC is the main focal point of a story. I've seen this in the Danganronpa fandom, too, but they're a little more open for it.
It's discouraging when only the Lamb/Narinder/Narilamb pieces of mine get (some, minimal) traction, and most things revolving around Kaliaphra are left in the dust. Take, for example, my intro posts for the three gods. Yun and Nari's posts have twice as many notes as Kali's, and I've noticed that, when I get a string of notifs from someone discovering the series (not often, but it happens), they end up interacting with the first two and not interacting with Kali's at all.
I look up to artists in the fandom and wanted to share what I could do, too. When I tell someone that I'm discouraged by the numbers, they tell me that I should be drawing/writing for myself, which is what I want to do in theory. Except my own stupid ass brain plagues me with thoughts of "you're not good enough, and you'll never be good enough". It's maddening.
If you've read this far, I really appreciate you. I'm sorry if I'm being annoying or whiny or needy or whatever-the-fuck-you-wanna-call-it. I'm just. Tired. And I need to get myself sorted, I think.
#oh hush salem#to be deleted later (maybe)#god i'm not tagging this in any fandom tag besides#tri-god au

I thought this was a realy interesting and well-compiled read! I think Mukuro is definitely one of the more open-to-interpretation characters in the whole series... like, I personally don't agree with everything said above. And I think the fact that she can be reasonaly interpreted a number of different ways is kind of built into how mysterious the character is from the jump. Not just by keeping her off-screen, but also by keeping her so stoic most of the time. We're MEANT to walk away with varied ways of looking at the character, I think.
Danganronpa IF is our best insight, but as Mukuro is making her decisions based upon her own interpretation of what she thinks Junko wants, we have to wonder whether Mukuro is correct in those interpretations. Junko Enoshima is one opaque-ass individual. Mukuro assumes she was wrong about what Junko wanted previously, and that what she really wants is rebellion. Is that correct? WAS she wrong the first time? IS she doing what Junko wants now? There's no way to know on either of those, really. I don't think it's safe for us to assume that she ever misunderstood Junko OR that she understood her.
Is Mukuro even being honest with herself about this choice, for that matter? Isn't it possible that she's justifying her own choice to turn against Junko by stringing this theory together? In light of the description of the "vines around her ankles" and her interaction with Naegi in the sick bed, this seems plausible. I think they're toying with the question of what her REAL motivation is, and they're leaving us to make our own interpretations.
Furthermore, we have that description of Mukuro blushing with ecstasy as she describes Junko, despite "Junko" not even being there. It's not like she has any need/reason to put on an act at that moment. I think this argues that she really DOES deeply admire her sister's twisted genius on a VERY intense level.
But I also would agree that there's no indication Mukuro's a masochist; hell, I don't think she even shows any indication of particularly enjoying what she does for Junko, though there's not much indication that she's opposed to it either. She just has deep admiration for her sister, the only family she's known and someone who seems to be a unique type of genius to Mukuro. When Junko is kicking her on the rooftop in DR3's Despair Arc, it's not like Mukuro shows signs of enjoyment — faked or otherwise. "Oh, but she's so delighted and blushing when Junko is trying to kill her in the car," someone might say. Yeah, but Mukuro is just thinking that whole time about Junko's dedication to her giving herself despair even if it means killing her loyal sister... and frankly, Mukuro knows she's never in any actual danger.
Anyway, that's my two cents on the matter. Mukuro's fun to think about.
Nobody Understands Mukuro Ikusaba (aka Mukuro Character Analysis)
...except for the people that do (lol).
But first I want to clarify what I mean by this title and why I even wrote this thread in the first place. Mukuro is my second favorite Danganronpa character, only beaten out by Kyoko. There's a lot of reasons why I really like Mukuro, but one of them is her writing.
I think she's one of the best written characters in the series. But unfortunately, she also happens to be one of the most misunderstood characters as well. Not even by the people who don't like her, but also by her own fans.
"Mukuro has incestuous feelings for Junko" "Danganronpa 3 retconned her character" "Mukuro was just a plot device" These are all claims that baffle me because simply just consuming the media will say otherwise.
To many, Mukuro is either a one note incest freak or a pure innocent cinnamon roll who did nothing wrong and both of those interpretations are wildly incorrect. I've been meaning to write this post for a while, but we're finally here.
Nobody understands Mukuro Ikusaba (a ""🧵"") (Spoiler warning for the entire series)
Story Overview
We don't actually know too much about Mukuro's backstory aside from the fact that at a young age, she was separated from her younger twin sister Junko. Before being taken away, she claims that she was homeless and after she was taken she was forced to become a member of the military group Fenrir.
So clearly Mukuro never really had the chance to have a normal life, and more importantly: never had a chance to feel the care of another person.
Her sister, who Mukuro had not seen in years, suddenly got in contact with her and called Mukuro over to participate in her plan to overthrow Hope's Peak Academy (and the world). Mukuro, who already felt bad for losing her sister and was desperate for any kind of affection, accepted and began working for Junko.
Junko took advantage of Mukuro's desperation and had her basically work as a servant to her plans. She started by having Mukuro wipe out the entirety of a middle school in order to prove Mukuro's skills and how far Mukuro would go for her.
With that out of her way, Junko made Mukuro obey like her servant in order to overthrow Hope's Peak and cause the tragedy. Mukuro did so without batting an eye and disregarding any second thoughts she might have had, all while facing Junko's abuse.
During her time attending Hope's Peak, Mukuro met Makoto Naegi. Unlike most of her classmates, Makoto was friendly to her and showed her compassion. This confused her as we already established that Mukuro wasn't used to affection. Because of this and her tendency to latch onto anyone who shows her even an ounce of care, she began to develop feelings for Makoto (that even Junko acknowledged).
In the past two years, Ikusaba had gained an interest in the world beyond her sister. And in that world, Makoto Naegi--the first person who smiled at her and bridged the gap between her and the world--had become like a sapling of sincerity taking root in her heart. -Danganronpa IF confirming Mukuro's feelings for Makoto
"Upupupu… I wonder what kind of fun you were having in the infirmary? Did you take care of your rival in love, or did you wish them a happy marriage? Either way, don't you think our nice guy Naegi standing side-by-side with Kirigiri makes for a wonderful picture? If this were a thriller, they'd be the last surviving couple!" "Upupupupu… Or how about just killing all of the others? If everyone but you and Naegi die, then the two of you can spend the rest of your student lives together! After all, we can't even hold a trial if there's only two people left. Maybe it'll be best if you just hole up here, safe in the building forever!" "And what're you going to do once he goes back to his old self? It's not as if you were dating Naegi, right? You were just watching him from afar all this time! Now this is a shock. You can shoot right through people's heads and hearts without even blinking, but you can't even steal away some skinny little boy's heart! You want me to tell you who Naegi had a crush on before his memories were erased? Upupupupu…" -Junko teasing Mukuro about her feelings as she aids Makoto in Danganronpa IF
Once the tragedy occured, Mukuro was locked inside of Hope's Peak with Junko and the rest of their classmates and she helped orchestrate the killing game. She disguised herself as Junko, under the impression that Junko would fake her death and they could spend the rest of the game together.
This is when the seeds of doubt began to sprout inside of Mukuro. I wouldn't say that she necessarily began to go against her sister, but she definitely was starting to get a little more hesitant.
"It was only recently that she began to question her mindset. Hearing about this plan from Junko and watching the world burn at the hands of people in Monobear masks did nothing to sway her, but when she heard that Junko was intending to plunge Naegi and the others into a game of murder, something within her began to move. The seed of doubt soon took root, sprouting into a thorny vine that twisted around her feet. And the moment she met her friends for the first time under the identity of Junko Enoshima and realized their memories were truly gone, the vines quickly tightened around her ankles." -Danganronpa IF describing Mukuro's feelings before Junko's attack
To Makoto and the player who are under the impression that this is Junko, they assume that she's referring to not wanting to be a model anymore. But given her backstory of never being able to live a normal life and always having to fend for herself or follow the orders of others, we can infer what she actually means. She expresses disappointment in the fact that she never really had a chance to do what she wanted.
This all culminates in the moment where Junko was supposed to fake the death of Mukuro, but that isn't what happened. Instead, Junko killed Mukuro and betrayed her. To say that Junko felt no remorse from this action would be a lie, however. Junko only did this because she knew it would hurt both of them.
...but what if that wasn't what happened? What if Mukuro wasn't killed? What would happen then? That brings us to:
Danganronpa IF
Danganronpa IF answers the hypothetical question of what if Mukuro survived Junko's attack. Of course this means it isn't canon, but due to Kodaka being involved with its creation and its existence as an event that hypothetically could have happened, it is canon compliant. This means that while the events didn't happen in canon, they could have and things like characterization are all accurate. Think of it like an extended free time event. While the events themselves aren't canon, the things they say and imply are. I'll also be referencing Danganronpa IF a lot because since it's told from Mukuro's perspective, it gives a lot of insight on her thought process.
After regaining his memories, Makoto recognizes and rescues Mukuro seconds before her would-be death and he gets impaled by one of the spears. Mukuro rushes to save him, abandoning her disguise and goal.
During this time, Mukuro does a lot of thinking. Why did Junko try to kill her? For all the time they've been working together, Mukuro always assumed that her job was to prop Junko up and help her achieve despair.
It turns out that Junko didn't want Mukuro to obey Junko's every order, Junko wanted Mukuro to retaliate. She didn't want Mukuro to submit to her, but instead to fight back.
With this Mukuro changes her mind, choosing to fight Junko instead of assisting her. Not because she's on the side of hope, she never cared about hope or despair, but because she only wants what's best for the only person in her life who cared for her.
"'That's why… I'll take responsibility. I'll make you happy, Junko . I'll make youdespair. I'll save Naegi-kun… I'll make sure none of our friends die. I'll get them all out of here. And I'll kill every last one of the ones on the outside. You planned this for years and killed so many people to make this work… so I'll destroy every last trace of it.' She was not driven by resentment at the sister who abandoned her. Ikusaba would do all this for her sister's sake." -Mukuro changing her approach to making Junko happy in Danganronpa IF
Who is Mukuro Ikusaba?
Now this is the part where I finally exit the synopsis phase and finally get into the character analysis, explaining why Mukuro acts the way she does in all entries.
Now, I want to begin with a common critique of Mukuro's character, specifically one that's attributed to Danganronpa 3. The one that says that Mukuro's behavior is not only out of character, but also shows that she has romantic feelings for her sister.
First point out of the way, Mukuro's blushy and flustered attitude is nothing new when it comes to her character. It's been an aspect of her since the very beginning of her characterization.
"'I don’t know if… she attracts despair, or despair attracts her, but… she’s lived her whole life with despair by her side. She lived while immersed in despair. That’s why she began looking for despair in others; she began to enjoy pushing people into despair. But you know… that’s normal. It’s no different than someone cursed by misfortune falling into hatred for those who are better off than them. But what’s special about her was that… she learned to enjoy inflicting despair upon herself. That’s how the link to despair began: as she chased down despair, she pushed it onto others along the way. Doing so caused her to crave falling into despair even more… and because of that chain to despair, the Ultimate Despair was born.' While she spoke, it was like she fell into a fever; the expressions on her face slowly turned into ecstasy. It was so completely absurd that it would have been difficult for anybody to think of it as anything but a joke, but I could tell that this was real. It might have been the hazy memories of Junko Enoshima inside me that led to that conclusion. 'You don’t get it right? That’s fair, I don’t think anybody could… But you know, only I can understand it…' Consumed by ecstasy, even Ikusaba’s breathing had begun to turn ragged." -Mukuro describing Junko in Danganronpa Zero
The second (and more important) point to address is the one that Mukuro holds some kind of romantic feelings for her sister. Now, in all honestly, I can't hold this against anyone for thinking this even if I think it's a wild misinterpretation of her behavior. Danganronpa has a track record of using incest for comedic effect (to always poor results). However, Mukuro's relationship with Junko is not used to comedic effect and it's portrayed in a negative light. Not only that, we know that Mukuro does not enjoy behaving that way.
"'She hoped that, perhaps her sister on the screen would say something like 'Not! You seriously thought I'd say something that sappy? Jeez, you're annoying! Can't you just disappear forever or something?'. She hoped that Junko might criticizeher and call her useless. Ikusaba was no masochist, but she would have preferred to hear scornful laughter and be shot at rather than continue to endure this pain." -Danganronpa IF explaining Mukuro's "masochism"
Mukuro doesn't behave the way she does because she has feelings for Junko, she does so because she believes that's how Junko wants her to behave. Danganronpa Zero and IF makes it clear that Mukuro was wrong about how Junko wanted her to behave.
“'You don’t get it right? That’s fair, I don’t think anybody could… But you know, only I can understand it…' Consumed by ecstasy, even Ikusaba’s breathing had begun to turn ragged. 'Only I’m able to understand her… That’s why she needs me. She still hasn’t realized it, but… maybe she’s only pretending not to. Ufu… It’s because she’s so shy. Ufufufu…'” -Mukuro explaining that Junko needs her in Danganronpa Zero
"Ikusaba knew that not even she herself was her own ally. After all, despite the fact that Junko had betrayed her and very nearly killed her, Ikusaba still believed that she was the only one who could understand her little sister. And that was why she felt that she had to protect her. That's right… you were just being you, Junko. You just wanted despair, right? It's because you love me. You wanted to kill me and fall into despair. That must have been it" -Mukuro in denial in Danganronpa IF
"Ikusaba believed that she alone could understand the despair known as Junko Enoshima. It was a ludicrous notion. The moment Junko said, 'I love you', Ikusaba realized--to her agony--that she never truly understood her sister. Only now had she come to realize Junko's feelings." -Mukuro realizing that she didn't understand Junko in Danganronpa IF
Because of Mukuro's incorrect interpretation of understanding Junko, Mukuro believes that Junko expects her to respond to her abuse with acceptance and masochism. Even if she was uncomfortable to, as long as it made Junko happy, that's what mattered. Of course, we learn that Junko wanted Mukuro to respond her abuse with retaliation, and as soon as Mukuro realizes that her behavior immediately shifts. Mukuro holds a great deal of admiration for Junko, so much so that she only wants to do what would please Junko the most.
She does not have romantic feelings for her sister and to say so misses the point entirely. She isn't behaving that way because she's a masochist, she behaves that way because she believes it's how she's expected to, even if she's visibly uncomfortable. Once she learns this isn't what's expected, she immediately changes course.
Danganronpa 3 also has official relationship charts that depict the relationship between characters. In this chart, crushes or explicitly shown romantic feelings are labeled with a heart (as seen with Kazuichi's attraction to Sonia or Toko's attraction to Byakuya). Mukuro's relationship does NOT feature this heart. You would think that if Mukuro's very obvious admiration towards Junko was romantic it would have a heart, but it doesn't because it isn't. If what I said before didn't convince you, I think this itself is proof enough.
Mukuro's admiration doesn't extend to just Junko though. Due to her unfortunate upbringing, Mukuro has a tendency to get attached to anyone who shows her the affection she's desperate for. So much so that her behavior changes completely around the people she cares about.
"The mass of monochrome spun round and round, making it look as though they were projecting a hypnotic image from three directions, but Ikusaba remained expressionless. In fact, the bizarre sight unfolding before her compelled the Super High School Level Soldier to regain her focus. She was an entirely different person from the girl who had panicked at Naegi's injury in the gymnasium." -Mukuro while fighting in Danganronpa IF, behaving completely differently from when she panicked over Makoto's injury
"Not only that, if anyone who knew her as the Super High School Level Soldier and mercenary were to see her now, the difference in her attitude might even make her look like another person altogether. And Monobear continued to drive the girl into a corner." -Mukuro panicking over Makoto's injury in Danganronpa IF
"The mask of ice she wore around others was entirely unlike the face she showed her sister, making it almost seem as though she had multiple personalities." -Danganronpa IF explaining that Mukuro's behavior around Junko is different from her typical icey expression
This is why around most people, Mukuro has a pretty blank expression. However when she's around Makoto or Junko, the two people who she cares about, she displays a much more soft and emotional side.
That being said, an often overlooked aspect of Mukuro is that she actually has a slight ego and is proud of her skill. This is especially obvious in her fight with Peko in Danganronpa 3. Of course, if I spent years in the military without getting a single scratch, I'd probably have an ego too.
Mukuro is also capable of turning off her feelings and going into "super soldier mode" whenever the situation demands it, mostly when she's carrying out some mission. It's not because she doesn't feel bad for what she's doing or isn't having any second thoughts, it's that she pushes any doubts to the side to focus on getting the job done.
"In battlefields, where she made her home, her main mission was to kill and survive. And in that setting Ikusaba was invincible. She could put her own emotions on a leash in order to become a killing machine." -Danganronpa IF explaining how Mukuro is capable of ignoring her own feelings
"With a single whisper that was drowned out by the sound of gunfire, Ikusaba went completely silent. Thanks to her status as a member of Super High School Level Despair, her heart was filling with joy. And as if to offset the sudden surge of emotions, the sparkle in her eyes disappeared." -Mukuro turning her emotions off while fighting in Danganronpa IF
So Basically...
Due to her upbringing Mukuro is someone who gets attached to people easily, particularly those who give her attention. Junko took advantage of this to make Mukuro essentially act as her servant. Believing that Junko expected her to return the abuse she faced with enjoyment, she forced herself to do just that. Even if it made her uncomfortable, making her sister happy at her own expense is better than being alone. She's capable of turning off and ignoring her emotions to following orders when necessary and is generally a proud and skilled soldier, though she has a softer side that she only shows to people who she cares for.
That is who Mukuro Ikusaba is.
Conclusion
There's a lot of reasons I really like Mukuro. I think she's silly and cute and I like her singing voice. But I also think her characterization is really good in all of her appearances. I think a lot of the critiques made towards her (especially her appearance in Danganronpa 3) are misguided or just a result of her being misunderstood.
She's not a plot device or a character exclusively there to act as an extension of Junko. She's filled to the brim with character depth and interesting writing and has plenty of characterization on her own. I'll admit that her presence in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is a bit limited, however she doesn't just become an important character in four other entries without getting some kind of development.
Many think her characterization is inconsistent or different across entries, but I honestly think it couldn't be any MORE consistent. The only times where I'd say she acts out of character is in the comic anthologies, but those are non-canon media that's kinda known for flanderizing characters for the sake of comedy.
Basically, I like Mukuro. I hope I managed to change some minds or shed a new light on her to anyone who didn't before. And if you already liked her, I hope maybe I could make you appreciate her a bit more or just help you explain her in some way.
anyways follow me on twitter cough cough
Also special thanks to Twitter user @LKSixtyfour for their tweets about Mukuro's characterization, many helped me organize my thoughts to form the thread that you just read.

welcome to wild theories with bagel
this one is… quite unlike the other posts as this is almost entirely speculation and probably has a lot of room for rebuttal
(it’s a theory after all)
this is mainly about teruko and her (possible) connection to the killing game.
take this with a grain of salt as always

//drdt prologue, chapter 1, and chapter 2 spoilers
// blood warning from about the second half of the post.
also i go on a giant tangent here. so quick warning about that as well
i’m just thinking back to this motive secret:
“How could I even select what secret to be your motive? Just about everything you’ve done in your life is worth killing for. This killing game is all your fault.”
as of now, we’ve been told (by David) that this was Xander’s secret, but I highly doubt it. for me, this is mainly because when everyone was sharing who’s secret they had at the 2nd trial, David hesitated and asked to go last—there’s really no reason to do that unless David wanted time to think about what to do and/or fully process the situation before taking action (plus going last would give David the added benefit of knowing whose secrets are already revealed).
not only that, Xander’s bonus episode and secret quote seems to imply that his secret is actually the one Min has (“You’re constantly blaming yourself for the death of your parents and siblings. It doesn’t matter that it’s not your fault, just that you didn’t go with them”). Xander’s survivor’s guilt seems to be a major motif for his character, so logically it would still be plausible for his secret to be related to the Chariton incident and his guilt.
in that case, who’s secret does David actually have?
unfortunately, it would be quite difficult to try to deduce this through that last sentence (and i don’t think i have to explain why), so i decided to go back to the first sentence—which implies that whoever this motive is about has too many secrets that they don’t want to remember and/or discuss.
i can clearly recall one character that explicitly mentions this:

i don’t recall anyone else saying something like this, but please correct me if someone did actually say something similar
additionally, each one of Teruko’s accidents that she’s survived as a result of her luck can become “secrets” that are worded to incriminate her and give her a motive to murder. after all, whoever wrote these secrets have done so in a way that paints the other characters in a bad light—there’s really no reason to exclude Teruko’s “secrets” from that treatment.
but if that were the case, is there a proper explanation as to why “this killing game is all [her] fault?”
as i’ve mentioned before, the secrets are specifically written in a way to incriminate the participants and taint their image. even Hu mentions this at one point:

and to be completely honest, if someone were to explicitly write that a killing game was a specific character’s fault, it would probably be to throw the cast off. it would be extremely imprudent to specifically implicate someone as a potential mastermind otherwise. after all, that’s essentially putting the entire killing game at stake.
however, despite the fact that these secrets are written to implicate the cast, most of them do have factual evidence to justify some part of it.
here’s where i get into wild theory territory:
what if Teruko is indirectly responsible for the killing game, just not in the way that we’d think?
let me elaborate on how this could actually happen (and this is gonna get long):
think back to the opening scene of the prologue. whoever it was that was injured here, they seemed very… determined to end the killing game “all by [themselves].” or kill teruko.
// (pink) blood warning from here on out
•
•
•

from here i’m going to pay a lot of attention to specific wording and such so please take this with a grain of salt
oh also this is gonna go on a tangent lmao
as seen here it seems that Teruko and the killing game are directly correlated to each other. this person here says that even if the killing game doesn’t end, Teruko must die—which seems to imply that her death could be a possible solution to the killing game, even if it is eventually revealed to not be one. after all, in a situation like this it wouldn’t make sense for this person to mention two seemingly separate things one after another if they weren’t related to each other somehow.
also this might just be me, but i just wanted to bring attention to this line:
“all by myself… i must end this killing game.”
this implies that whoever this person is, they want to end this killing game independently, by their own effort. specifically asking Xander to kill Teruko with no justification or reason why, in that case, doesn’t really make sense as it’s entirely dependent on the decision and whims of another person.
and besides, this may again just be me, but Xander mentions how he needs to “trust in [him]self” that killing Teruko would be worth it:

this may imply that Xander attempted to murder Teruko out of his own instinct, and/or Xander deduced that the person who wrote that note to kill Teruko was himself. whether that’s because that note was in his own handwriting, or something from his memories told him so, i’m not sure.
also, recall the fact that some of the cast’s memories have been removed. for example, Xander doesn’t actually recall when he lost his eye.
someone else said this in a YouTube comment (that i unfortunately cannot find, but i’ll see if i can find the screenshot and put it here later), but—in that original prologue cutscene, there’s a fork under the person’s hand.
Xander’s eye injury, as we saw in chapter 1, has indents on it that look similar to claw marks. but based on those indents, it is actually plausible that those injuries were done by something similar to that fork (the fork in the prologue cutscene has four prongs, and the injury seems to have been caused by something that had four,,, uhh, prongs/claw bones). however this is purely speculation so this may be entirely wrong.
if this does happen to be correct, though, this could possibly imply that Xander was the person in the prologue cutscene. in that case, it is possible that Xander himself wrote the note to kill Teruko.
trusting “himself” to kill Teruko would, in that situation, actually make sense.
but as we know, killing Teruko is a challenge in on its own, whether that’s by attempting to incriminate her or attempting to directly murder her. she even declares this herself.

actually, little side note: “no matter what” is seen in both this scene and the prologue cutscene—and they’re highlighted in both cases. just thought it was interesting because it gives off “unstoppable force meets immovable object” vibes lmao
though this could definitely be more important than it seems right now
this has been kind of true. in the first chapter, we saw Teruko almost getting killed multiple times, and her surviving all of them. first with Xander attacking Teruko, second with Min attempting to frame Teruko to ensure her own survival (and don’t forget about the detail of two people voting for Teruko for some odd reason—not sure why, but this could suggest that someone other than Xander was aware of this situation? that’s the current weak point of my theory, unfortunately). so as far as we can tell, attempting to kill Teruko proves to be very difficult as her luck carries her though each incident, even if she didn’t want to survive them. it almost seems like an impossible feat with the amount of luck she has.
the thing is, the fact that killing Teruko is nearly impossible adds to my personal theory: “what if the killing game is only running because Teruko is alive? what if killing her effectively ends the killing game?”
look i can explain it okay
as far as we can tell, Teruko actually has a lot of advantages compared to the others in the killing game:
her distrusting nature makes her less vulnerable to being lured into a trap
her luck. that’s all i have to say
MonoTV is giving her some advantages himself, which seems a little… suspicious.
okay on second thought let me elaborate on that last bullet
think back to ch2 ep2-3. MonoTV is the one that asked Teruko to do some chores for him in exchange for MonoCredits—which are essentially tokens that allow Teruko to get others to leave her alone.

what’s interesting here is, MonoTV doesn’t set any restrictions on when she can’t use them (although that could be just because Teruko cut him off). in that case, couldn’t she theoretically use one if she’s about to get murdered or something?
and I also find it weird that MonoTV asks Teruko specifically (as well as follows her around) to do that chore. since there were so many other people that Teruko talked to when MonoTV was still following her, he technically could’ve walked up to anyone. therefore, it could be a possibility that MonoTV intentionally did that to give her an advantage.
just me? okay
anyways what i’m trying to say here is that the series itself seems to be gradually giving Teruko more advantages and opportunities that prevent her from being killed. although that could point to her being the mastermind, i kind of explained with the secrets why that seems unlikely.
but if my theory of “killing Teruko will end the killing game” proves to be correct, the true mastermind actually benefits from giving these added advantages to Teruko—it makes it harder for Teruko to be killed, which effectively keeps the game running.
which indirectly makes Teruko responsible for the killing game—by literally just being alive.
this. uh. was a lot of small speculation and details. that could probably be proven wrong.
besides we’re only mid-ch2 at the time of writing this
so feel free to refute me on ANY of these points—i will listen. for all i know i could be wildly wrong
and as always, take this with a grain of salt.

Hi, Notice your speculation and found it interesting, but have to disagree with you, I have my own theory on who killed Star and how it happened, but I want to have some conversations and ask questions to take your thoughts, so here is my first question: What if the piece of string was the murder weapon, Star was strangled to death and the throat slit happened after her death?
Interesting theory, It could be possible that Star was strangled with the Slit being a way to cover up/mess with the scene.
But I see a problem with it, the lack of any Marks on Star's neck.

If she was strangled there should probably any marks on the side since the entire neck would have been affected not only the cut part.

kinda like this (Sorry bad artist)
also, if we assume that the string is from the sweater, it would also have left some black smudges on Star.
Anyways, Thanks for the Ask, interested to see your opinions on my reasoning and other parts of the first case of Cartoons in Danganronpa!

CID Monologic Trials: Case 1
THIS IS AN OLD VERSION, CLICK HERE FOR THE BETTER VERSION!
Index:
Intro + Characters
Case 1 (You are here)
So, this is the first actual post of me theorizing about CID, if you're interested in this thing, go check out the other post in which I explain who I think it´s capable of being a culprit in any of the chapters.
Of course this will contain spoilers for Cartoons In Danganronpa so go check it out before reading this, also bear in mind that everything is pure speculation and chances are I end up being wrong.
Chapter 1 Evidence (click on it)
Ok, first of all I think we shoud start by defining our prime suspects.
I will asume that the main motive (scaping the academy) is not the reason this crime was comited, and instead focus my attention on the motive given by Monokuma:

This leaves us with the following suspects:
Jenny
Morty
Mabel
Blossom/Bubbles
Ed/Eddy
Star
Vendetta
Zim
Kyle/Cartman
Out of this list we can remove:
Jenny: They woud not condemn a class full of inocent kids, even knowing that her mother's life it's at risk.
Mabel/Blossom/Bubles/Ed/Eddy: Same thing as Jenny, but with the added fact that their Brother/sister/Best Friend is in that class so they have least of a reason to do it.
Star: She doesn't remember Marco, and even if she did she woudn't condemn a class full of inocent kids, she is also the victim (although all that means is shelf defense murder and I don't think that's the case)
Kyle: As explained in the intro + Characters post, wright now he woudn't not do it, not even if that meant saving kenny (and getting rid of Cartman)
So, our Prime Suspect's are:
Morty
Vendetta
Zim
Cartman
So, with our suspects well defined, I think the next point of interest shoud be the body, starting with the cause of death:

Given the fact that no poison was found on the body, we have to assume tha the laceration on the throat is the cause of death since it's the only wound on the body, as for the murder weapon the only posible thing woud be the knife that was found on the kitchen.
No bloddy weapons were found and this is the only object that apears to be cleaned out so im certain it was used as murder weapon, now "why clean the weapon but leave the body and a trial of blood?" that's a question for later, for now.
Let's move to the blood on the body, the lack of it to be precise

Star's hands were found compleatly clean of any blood the two main theories of why this is the case are "She coudn't touch her neck because she was unable" and "She coudn't touch her neck because the death was instant".
The latter seems pretty unlikely due to the laceration not being on a vital organ so let's explore the first theory
Why was Star unable to touch her neck?
As Dib said during the investigation "When a persons throat is slit, their first instinct woud be to hold their neck to stop the bleeding and allevate the pain." With that information only reason that comes to mind is that, She coudn't move her arms, now the question shifts into Why?.
The answer to this becomes obvious once we convine two pieces of evidence:

The black smudgets indicate that the piece of string was in the cabinet with Star and whatever colored them black, (let's put a pinn in that as we will come back to it latter), so now we know that star had her hands tied up when she was killed, and that at some point she was also in the cabinet, this creates another question:
Why woud a tied up person be on a cabinet, but then murdered outside of it?
No mather how you look at it, it dosen't make sense, obiusly it wasn't in an atempt to hide the body, as it was found outside of it, an top of that no blood was on the cabinet, wihich means that when she was on the cabinet the crime still hadn't been comited. But that creates another set of questions
Why woud you hide your target?
Let's play pretend, let's say you're the killer, you have your victim wright were you want her, she is tied up, and everyone is sleeping...
Or are they? You hear footsteps somebody is comming, you don't have enough time to comit the murder and then clean up before they arive, so you think fast and push the victim into the first hiding spot you find.
Yes, I personaly belive that they we're more than two persons and a fiend that night in the crime scene, but for now let's just pinn that and continue with our rasoning, if star was still alive
Why didn't she screamed for help?
Any person in that situation woud have not only screamed but also moved as to let the other person know what was happening, the reason for this not happening is obvious, She coudn't, since we know the only restrained parts of Star were her hands, we have to asume that she was unconcious.
As for the reason, well... Here is when we get a little more speculative, she clearly wasn't hit on the head as the only wound was lethal, so my theory is that the killer used some drug or chemical for this process, since the Monokuma file #1 only mentionts that "no harmful chemicals were found" this woud be a possible loophole, I have no evidence for this but it's the only thing that makes sense.
Now continuing with my assumption, let's think
Where did the killer get the sleeping draught?
The're is only one place we're something like this woud be found, the infirmary. Now we know that the killer was in the infirmary at some point, but since Dipper was unconcious the whloe time we don't have a way of knowing who entered the place, except for the persons that took care of him (Ed & Morty).
Now let's go back to the first pinned Idea in our list of misteries,
The black smudges:
We know only one thing that coud have caused them:

Acording to Dipper "This had to have been painted a different color at some point" so it would've be normal for the sweater to leave paint in the places it's comes into contact with, but
Why woud the killer gone through all the trouble of painting a sweater?
So it would be harder for anybody to see them on the darkness of course, since this would have helped him surprise Star and it would have hidden him while escaping, it would also make sense if they were also wearing the sky mask to completely avoid recognition, so did the killer hid Star on top of the Sweater? this is a question better left unanswered for now. Let's leave the other pinned idea for latter as well and instead focus on,
Why was Star on the Kitchen?
Well according to a certain pice of evidence, she was lured there

Someone sent star a message telling her that they've finished something earlier than expected, and that they wanted to see her in the cafeteria to talk about another escape plan.
Of course all clues lead to this message been sent by either Blossom, Bubbles or Jenny,as they're the only ones that have tried any escape plans, and also were the only ones that were making something other than sleep (losing their powers) but according to bubbles they weren't done until 6:30 AM way pass the time the message was sent.
So somebody stole one of their Monokallers (I'm assuming during the whole gym scene as after that they were gone and also because Dipper getting captured would have created the perfect distraction) and pretending to be one of them send a message to Star luring her into the cafeteria.
As who's Monokaller is, I believe it's Jenny's as she being a robot will explain why it can be unlocked without the use of a fingerprint.
With that out of the way, let's continue with our Pinned ideas by addressing:
The third person.
Thanks to a few pieces of evidence we can deduce who whas in the kichen at the time of the crime.

Acording to Both Charlotte & Monokuma Cupcake was in the kitchen the whole night and even saw the boddy, Kyle saw Cartman going ito the kitchen at 11:50 AM and then waited for him on the stairs, he didn't saw anybody else before of after, of course Star and the killer were on the kitchen, and acording to the Monokaller that was found on Mabel's lab, Star was lured there at 11:50 AM.
All of this seems to point towards Cartman being the killer, however exactly because we know that he was at the scene of the crime, we also know, he coudn't have done it.
Acording to the Danganronpa rules "Once the body is found by three student's an anouncement will happend to alert everyone, Killer's do not count towards the student number", the anouncement happened the next morning when Bubbles found the corpse, we know she was alone because Dipper was the first person to arrive after the announcement, we know that Cupcake is one of the tree students, this mixed with Kyle's Testimony creates a perfect aliby for Cartman as the third student needed for the anouncement.
Kyle didn't see anybody else go down to the first floor so both the killer and star should already be in the kichen, except for the fact that dosen't make sense.
Why lure somebody to a place they already are?
So the only conclusion is that Star was able to get into the second floor without kyle seeing her, we know that she was in her room when she saw the mesage, afther all, her Monokaller was there.

Star left the room without the key to it? What a nonsensical move, specially since she remebered to bring her Dimensional Scissors.
(Soooo Tumblr only let's me put 10 images on posts, so you might gonna have to use the google dock of evidence from here on out... Sorry)
We know that Star's Scissors don't work since the portal she made to escape the School didn't work, but what if that wasn't the case...
I belive Star's Scissors work, but only on the School, this woud mean that she coud move throug the rooms basicaly instantly, this woud have alowed her to not only get into the first floor without beein spotted, but also it would explain another piece of evidence:
* Instert Gaz's Testimony *
Gaz claims that she got woken up by a bright flash, this happened twice that night, the first flash could be attributed to Star opening a portal to the cafeteria on the hallway, kyle was on the stairs between floors so he wouldn't have seen it, and the rest were asleep so they probably wouldn't have noticed.
Star would have gotten into the Cafeteria at 11:50 AM, the killer (that was already on the kitchen or flew to it when she teleported into the Cafeteria) lured Star into the kitchen where they left her unconscious, they heard Cartman approaching so they hid Star and the sweater into the cabinet, but remember our second question that we saved for later?
Why would the sweater be under Star?
The logical thing would have been to hide the Victim first in case you only have time to hide one thing... But what if we've been looking at it backwards?
What if they didn't want to hide the sweater, but instead to hide the thing inside the sweater.
I believe that the killer hide itself with star as to not be seen on the place where the body was gonna be found.
We almost have enough to formulate a full theory, but there's some evidence I wana touch upon:
First: Cupcake's behavior, something happened that night that made it so the only person she show's affection towards it's Cartman, and I believe this it's related with her only being able to recognize people by their face, as I previously stated I believe that the murderer had an sky mask the whole time, so cupcake was unable to determine who it was, however, she does know that it wasn't Cartman as she saw him enter and leave the kitchen, so this would just give him a second alibi.
Secondly: The hairball, no matter how much I look at it, the only connection I see to anything is when Cupcakes bite Vendetta in the ponytail during daily life, but I don't see how this would help, maybe it's just a red hearing?
Thirdly: The Monosauce, I think this was created on the Memwave because of Cartman, either intentionally because he discovered how it worked, or unintentionally because of the Memwave's voice option.
Fourthly and Last but not least: The Bloody trail: We've already established that star was killed in front of the cabinet , so a trail of blood that indicates the body was moved makes no sense, but what about
A trail of fake blood that exists just to mess with people?
If we take our attention into the Monosauce we can see that either the bottle or it's contents are of an orange color, with this being something created by Monokuma it's not hard to assume thay the blood color was intentional, I think Cartman realized what was happening (probably because Cupcake told him) tricked the Killer into thinking that he had left and then altered the scenes of the crime to cause chaos before actually leaving.
Remember the knife and how it was surprisingly clean for how messy everything was? I think that just like the bloddy trail, this was Cartman tempering with the evidence.
So all of the evidence is on the table, some things are very clear, while others not so much, logic and Speculation are mixed to create a path to the truth:
According to my theory, the killer using the Monokaller it stole from Jenny told star to go into the cafeteria, Star went there by using her Dimensional Scissors, creating the first flash that Gaz claims to have seen, the killer then lured Star onto the kitchen, where they left left her unconscious using the tranquillizers they stole from the infirmary, suddenly they heard Cartman coming, and decided to hide itself and Star in a nervy cabinet, leaving the black smudges, they tied Star's hands using a piece of string form the sweater in case she woke up before , Cartman left, Cartman got alerted by Cupcaked and pretended to go back to his room, after he left the killer, took star out of the cabinet and murdered her, then proceeded to use the Dimensional Scissors to escape and get rid of the evidence, this created the second flash that Gaz saw, they left the sweater back into Mabel's lab and also hid Jenny's Monokaller in there as to incriminate Mable, they throw the piece of string in a nervy garbage can, and finally left the sky mask back in the storage room (as how the blood got there, your guess is as good as mine...), while this was happening Cartman got back into the kitchen, point in which he saw the body, using the monosauce (he either had already created later accidentally, or had created now intentionally) created a fake blood trail from the door connecting to the cafeteria all the way to the corpse, he also took the knife the killer had left by the body, washed it and left it on a nervy drawer just to mess with people, after that he left for real, and went back to his room alongside kyle, once he was done removing evidence from the crime scene the killer, opened a final portal to the kitchen so they could leave the Scissors near Star, finally they got back into their own room, waited for the body to be discovered and faked surprise.
Out of our prime suspects there is only one who had the chance to steal the Monokaller and then immediatley leave the room without raising suspicions, there is only one who could have stolen from the infirmary without fear of anybody asking him why he needed medicine, and there's only one who coud have done it.
Morty Smith
I'm 100% certain that he is guilty
And about 80% that the events happened that way.
Morty is the only one who could have done it, and had the reason to do it, but the blood on the sky mask and the hair ball make me doubt of my reconstruction of the events.
Wow this took longer than expected, it was pretty fun though, seeing all of the pieces come together, abd having those moments of realization that force you to rewrite everything, but yeah, this is my theory of who done it and how, is it perfect? Heck no, there's evidence I don't even know how to work into the case.
So leave me your options on my theory, your theories and the overall estructure of the post.

(an alternate DR V3 ending) If Tsumugi failed to kill Rantaro and instead got herself killed in the process
· Well… this was unexpected. The ‘mastermind’ went and killed herself and revealed where her secret room was located. But as they say, the show must go on, and that the producers made happen. Initially they were panicked but they quickly came up with an alternate plan, one that may be much more exciting than what they had originally planned. One that viewers were either going to love or hate.
· Even with the mastermind dead the trial still went on, concluding that Tsumugi got herself killed, trying to frame Kaede and because she killed herself, no one was executed.
· Even after the trial everyone continued to investigate the secret room and the passageway that lead to the girl’s bathroom. They still had mysteries to uncover. How was the killing game still occurring with the mastermind dead? Was Tsumugi the mastermind or rather an accomplice? How were their movements being tracked? Were there secret cameras or were there trackers on them? Who was the mastermind? Were they one of the students in their ragtag group, or some malevolent outside force? Was Monokum being controlled by someone or an AI? What about the Monokids, were they the same as Monokuma or different? Those and so much more they were desperate to figure out.
· Monokuma never did a thing to try to stop their search. This made Shuichi suspicious. If pursuing this search was going to yield them results surely Monokuma would have done something, or had he already removed any trace of useful information they could have found? Either way Shuichi knew there was something wrong with this. He would have told Kaede, but now knowing their every action was likely being tracked, he couldn’t risk the Mastermind figuring out his suspicions.
· Shuichi ended up finding an unlikely ally in Kokichi Oma. Everything about him screamed dangerous to Shuichi yet… in the trials he couldn’t miss how the trickster gave hints through the lies and chaos. Kokichi in fact approached Shuichi knowing the detective figured out something and he wanted to find out what it was. They slowly developed a coded language in order to share theories and the like, while still maintaining distance so no one would become suspicious of them.
· Despite Kaede almost killing Rantaro, him, Kaede, and Shuichi became a trio of sorts. The three were always together, encouraging one another and doing all they could to get everyone out of that hell and solve the mysteries of that place, including trying to recover Rantaro’s memories.
· Eventually when Rantaro’s lab was unlocked they only got even more lost. He freely showed them the laptop hoping Shuichi and Kaede could figure out something about why they were all trapped here… or… did they voluntarily join in? But soon after the laptop went missing, Kokichi having stolen it. Only Shuichi knew of it’s whereabouts but didn’t say a word. He didn’t like or want to keep the secret, but it was the only way to get Kokichi’s thoughts on the matter. He was a being of chaos, but that didn’t make him any less brilliant, several steps ahead of everyone else.
· Eventually there were only five left. Kaede Akamatsu, Shuichi Saihara, Rantaro Amami, Kokichi Oma and Kiibo. With tensions running high everyone suspecting one another even if they didn’t want to, they all agreed to hold a trial to figure out if any of them were the Mastermind. They set up chairs and tables in the gym to serve as their makeshift trial grounds. They hoped nothing would come of this. They hoped all they would figure out was that none of them were the Mastermind, after all, why would the Mastermind agree to this without worry of revealing of theirself! R-right?
· At one point in the trial they got to the topic of the voices Kiibo hears. The others didn’t notice but Kokichi did immediately. That tinniest little shift in personality. He asked what the voices were saying right now…
· That’s when it happened.
· As he described what the voices told him Shuichi discovered it. How those voices were getting Kiibo to play a part in each and every murder. All except the first one with Tsumugi. Kiibo began to panic, he couldn’t be a part of this mad house! But it was undeniable, Kiibo was related to this, somehow.
· That’s when Kokichi struck. He kept placing on the pressure, getting Kiibo to snap, screaming he was not the mastermind! He spoke of the previous trials trying to disprove he had anything to do with any of it. It was then Kaede was able to definitively prove that the murders could not have happened without him, his actions lead directly to those tragedies.
· All was quiet as they took in that awful realization. “So… I never had free will? I… I’m just some puppet of the Mastermind?”
· Monokuma came in with the Exisals. He put a stop to the proceedings. Saying that was boring. That they should get to murdering one another instead of searching for some mastermind. Or instead, return the Mastermind’s memories since this game couldn’t be fun for Kiibo anymore. He then flashed one of those lights on Kiibo.
· Kiibo announced his new plan. He’d open up the entire school and give the remaining students the next twelve hours to solve every last mystery of the place, including Kiibo’s own motivations for starting this game and why he’d choose to wipe his own memory.
· They had no choice, they had to investigate one last time.
· In the trial they had come to the conclusion that after the world began to piece itself back together a new Hope’s Peak was created. The people of the world however hated this. The Ultimate hunt began, kill all those with an ‘ultimate’ talent. They were nothing but trouble, it was them that plunged the world into despair. They had to all be eliminated. Dr. Idabashi was one such individual, believing the only way the world could truly start anew was with no talented individuals, everyone starting from scratch at square one. He believed Kiibo, his newest and greatest creation was the only one that could achieve this. He managed to get Kiibo into Hope’s Peak newest class. That was when the newest class’ fate was sealed.
· The principle of the new Hope’s Peak set about protecting these talented youth. First, they tried using the Neo world program to delete any memories of their talent so they could live as normal people, but that did not satisfy the world still wanting them dead. Because Kiibo was a robot he was excluded from this to an extent. They deleted only some of his memories. Dr. Idabashi being a brilliant scientist thought of this and created a failsafe. Should any of Kiibo’s equipment, hardware or software be tampered with an AI, the ‘AUDIENCE’ as he dubbed it, would be many voices that would manipulate Kiibo’s actions into still going through with his true objective. Destroy the talented children and make a show of it, showing what the people of the world would do to any future talented youth. It was unfortunate but it was all for one goal. To keep someone like Junko Enoshima and her Ultimate Despairs from even getting the chance to exist again. Only youth so talented could cause such a travesty so people must fear pursuing their talents… at least in their youth. If they grew into adults and pursue it then, maybe they could utilize their talents, but not when they were children, when their brains were still developing.
· A new plan was formed by Hope’s Peak. They would send out these remaining hopes into space away from potential harm from the world. When the world had calmed, they would return and lead the world into a new era of peace. Little did they know that Kiibo was a person of the world’s will as well as Tsumugi Shirogane. She was given a talent in the same fashion as Izuru Kamukura, as to infiltrate the new class. Tsumugi before boarding the ship had her memories returned to her, so she helped remodeling the ship, fashioning it with the Monokuma room. The people of the world decided to film and project the new murder game worldwide as to show what would become of young talented individuals. Though they hated Monokuma, they decided to repurpose him into a mascot of sorts, a twisted beast that would come to kill all young people with talent in the most twisted of ways.
· That’s what this all was. Kiibo was the will of the people, who wanted these remaining students dead and to suffer when doing so. They had the audacity to pursue their talents even knowing how the world was destroyed in the first place, so they had to pay. Deleting their memories and talents was not enough to pay for what they dared risk to bring back. More of that retched despair. A world of pure neutrality would be better than a world filled with hope and despair.
· With all the mysteries solved Kiibo decided it was high time to give the remaining students their final reward. Blowing up himself as well as the entire ship. But then Kaede, Shuichi, Rantaro and Kokichi insisted on speaking to the world. Kiibo told them they couldn’t change the mind of the world; it was far too scared to be changed. And yet, the four remaining students made their plea to the world.
· A new decision had been made. They could live, as long as they never returned to earth. Recreating those killing games brought no good. Instead they decided to send all talented individuals away to a new planet where they would live, never to return.
· A rather controversial ending, but it was an ending that opened the door to many possibilities and that was good news for the producers. More material to work with, without needing to think much.
· It was rather tricky, pulling the strings and making sure every one of the viewer’s choices lead to a murder but they thought it was well worth it.
· A new season of Danganronpa was already being produced set in ‘the new talented world’

Here are my Danganronpa-sona doodles!
This is Opal the Ultimate Philosopher! ✨
Opal uses She/They pronouns, are Pansexual and demisexual.
She gets casted into DV3 because I loved the themes of that game ^^
She spends a lot of time alone but does not mind the company of others! She really only likes those who will listen to their ramblings or as they would say “abstract nonsense”.
They stim with music and writing, and will stay up late solving theories and writing out string theory and quantum physics.
Has a crush on Shuchi and Tsumugi but will probably never confess.
Kaito will listen to them rant about quantum physics and similar theories.

It’s ok my light situation isn’t the best either
OPAL MY BELOVED I LOVE HER ALREADY♡♡♡♡
THEM STIMMING WITH MUSIC ♡♡♡♡♡
AND SHE HAS A CRUSH ON THE BLUE DUO?♡♡♡♡♡

hello hello! if your matchups are still open can i request one?
(sorry if this gets long im not good at requesting these-)
-so uhh to start off with i use they/them pronouns and am AFAB (assigned female at birth) and have not gotten any transition surgeries so i still look more feminine (which causes some gender dysphoria around the time of my period and on some days i find it really hard to make myself shower because i don't like to look at my body)
- i'm an INFP-T which means i have the same personality trait as Zuko from Avatar the Last Airbender, Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Yuri from DDLC, Luke Skywalker from Star Wars, Dr.Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb, Fishcl from of course Genshin Impact and Sadness from Inside Out
- i'm a bit of a daydreamer and tend to zone out a lot, and i don't like to ask people to repeat themselves when i zone back in which will probably screw me over in the future (it has not yet)
- fantasy and horror are my go-to genres but i also really enjoy historical fiction and read a lot of classic novels (Crime and Punishment, Grapes of Wrath, Dracula, The Complete Works of Edgar Allen Poe, The Devils, The Great Gatsby, etc)
- very much a fan of animes (like Haikyuu, The Promised Neverland (i cried a bunch), Demon Slayer, Blue Exorcist, Hunter x Hunter, OHSHC, FairyTail, Bungou Stray Dogs, etc) and video games (like Danganronpa, YTTD, Ayakashi Akaashi, Until Dawn, Undertale, Detriot Become Human, Minecraft, Genshin Impact (obviously) and FNAF (yes i'm a Game Theory fan))
- whilst i do enjoy horror i prefer psychological horror to slasher films and straight up gore (i have a lot of nightmares from the time i was dared to watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre and either screamed, cried or sat petrified in fear for almost the entire time)
- i get really emotionally attached to characters in books/TV Shows/movies which i know is a problem and they're not real but i cant stop myself
- i'm definitely an English History person instead of a Science Math person (i'm terrible at math please help me-)
- i forget to sleep and/or eat a lot, and im a huge hypocrite who preaches self-care but doesn't do any self-care for myself (i take the self out of self-care if you will)
- i ramble a lot as well about anything and everything that interests me and will not shut up for awhile
- i'm not too short but also not too tall at 5"8" with long brown hair and blue-grey eyes. whilst i do wear glasses usually i've recently started using contact lenses which i think are neat
- i adore musical theater and music, i sing, play piano, and know some guitar and cello. i think i'm an okay singer but people tell me i'm really good and my voice is really cool because i'm able to sing a lot of different styles (i primarily do musical theater and jazz music but i can also sing classical Italian pieces)
- i speak Polish, Spanish, French and English but i would love to learn Russian and/or Italian fluently.
- i hate having photos taken of myself, but love taking pictures of my friends for memories
- i have a sticker and pin addiction i'm such a little gremlin who hoards them
- my music style is pretty diverse because i usually listen to musicals or Paramore as well as classical music (i've been listening to a string quartet version of Howl's Moving Castle on repeat for weeks and it sounds like a gypsy romance which i adore, the version i listen to is by the Vitamin String Quartet) and metal
- i am very much a hopeless romantic and a biromantic disaster (meaning i'm bi and asexual)
uhhh i think that's everything (sorry it's so long-)
thank you so much and have a lovely day! <3 (also the option to be anonymous is turned off for your asks, i don't know if that's intentional or not so i just thought i'd let you know)
I match you up with Hu Tao!
I chose Hu Tao Because:
you guys would watch horror movies together
because of her job, she might smell like corpses
make her take a shower/bath if she does
she’d find it cute that you’re a hopeless romantic
she prolly is one too ngl
also was surprised by all the pins and stickers you have

What do you think of the idea that there's a mastermind behind Monokuma like the first game, and Tsumugi was like a second fiddle to them? I feel like if there was one, they could have been hiding under that hatch in Ouma's lab. Multiple roles were relevant in past games too, plus Monokuma bothers me a bit, I feel like there's something... off about him that isn't expanded on
Hmm... that’s a difficult question, because while I definitely do think Tsumugi was working with “Team Danganronpa” as a whole, I’m not quite sold on the idea of her being a pawn in someone else’s schemes.
I know some people lean more towards the idea that Tsumugi herself was brainwashed via the flashback lights and that’s why she’s the ringleader, but I’m not so sure about that theory. She herself says in chapter 6 that once you know how the flashback lights work or doubt their credibility then they no longer work at all: you might see the memories play out in your head, but you no longer believe that these things happened to you because you’re aware that they’re fictional.
I’m inclined to think she’s telling the truth too, given that other characters like Ouma and Angie call the flashback lights into question in much earlier chapters, and Ouma himself clearly doesn’t believe one of the flashback lights at the beginning of chapter 3, when he mutters that he’s “disappointed in everyone for believing it so easily” before quickly changing the subject when Saihara presses him for details.
I definitely do think Tsumugi’s part of a larger problem, or rather that it’s her way of thinking that’s the problem: it’s not just that she’s a single bad individual to be blamed for everything, so much that the complete desensitization to violence and commodification of Danganronpa as a means for kids to die on television and get famous is the real “evil” here. At least, that’s always what I interpreted her line differentiating between herself as the “ringleader” and the people in the outside world as the “mastermind” to mean.
But I don’t quite agree with the idea that someone else was physically present in the killing game and pulling the strings with Tsumugi, not only because I feel it would take away some of Tsumugi’s autonomy as the main antagonist of the game, but also because it would sort of go against typical mystery rules like Knox--namely, the idea that the culprit of a mystery work should always be introduced or at least foreshadowed at the beginning of your story, otherwise it makes said mystery unfair and much harder to solve.
Rules like Knox’s aren’t set in stone of course, and are often more of a general guideline for mystery works in order to provide an idea of what’s “fair” and “solvable” for the readers trying to solve them. All mysteries are games, of a sort, not just Danganronpa. So having an unseen, unnamed culprit who was never actually introduced or brought up just wouldn’t be fair to the players, in my opinion.
I suppose you could make a case for “Kaede’s twin sister,” since Tsumugi herself does bring this up as a red herring in chapter 6, but I always took that line to be Tsumugi desperately making things up to throw suspicion off of herself while everyne was investigating. Not only that, but I assumed it was sort of a joke about how Kaede’s Japanese voice actress, Sayaka Kanda, played both Junko and Mukuro in the stageplay for dr1.
There’s also Tsumugi’s line about being a “cosplaycat criminal,” but I personally assumed this was foreshadowing about the outside world, and people’s devotion to and obsession with the Danganronpa series as a whole. I think a case could definitely be made for her referring to someone within a larger group outside, whether it’s Team Danganronpa or some unknown group of similar DR fanatics, but I didn’t feel as though she was referring to another person directly present in their killing game.
As for your point about Monokuma, I think part of it may just be the fact that Monokuma seems to largely operate as an AI in ndrv3, rather than a direct mouthpiece for Tsumugi all the time. Obviously she could operate him and input commands to the Mother Monokuma in her secret room inside the library, but unlike Junko who spent most of dr1 holed up in the control room, Tsumugi spends the majority of her time in plain sight (ha) with all of her fellow classmates. If Monokuma were operating largely as an AI designed by Team Danganronpa so he could walk and talk independently when she didn’t have an opportunity to control him herself, I think that might explain some of the inconsistencies.
Of course, most of this is just speculation! It could turn out that I’m totally wrong and that there was someone else all along, depending on whatever Kodaka has in store for the future, or if he even writes another game for DR at all. A huge part of what makes ndrv3′s ending and Tsumugi herself as a character so much fun is, in my opinion, how open-ended and perfect for speculation and theory-crafting it is! Thank you for the fun question anon, I hope my response was okay!
