No one else is gonna care about this picture, but it means a ton to me.  Daniel O’Connell (statued above) was the original thinker on passive resistance.  He fought for civil rights for Irish Catholics before civil rights were a thing.  He organized the normally rowdy and mercurial Irish Catholics into organized, peaceful protests that scared the spit out of British magistrates.  Thomas Jefferson, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr. and other creators of change were influenced by the ideology and methods of Daniel O’Connell.  I co-wrote a musical about him and spent a lot of time studying his life.  What a privilege to finally come to his beautiful town and be where he was.  Geek rant over.   - - - #fezywigindublin #ireland #danieloconnell #learning #growing #history #homeschool #worldschool #familytime #dadlife #happydad #alwayslearning #travel #adventure #personalgrowth #sevenatsea #fezywig (at Dublin, Ireland) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnbuYsig6La/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=um6dz7s2vbuz

My Godfather Quentin Crisp urged me to “live an extraordinary life “so my “Biographer would have something to write about!” ... He taught me that, “To be interesting, you must be interested, to be fascinating, you must be fascinated!” One of his best pieces of advice was “Find what really interests you & devote yourself to it completely!” So I did & I have & I do....discovering & breathing life back into the subversive women & LGBTQ+ Torchbearers of History who were deliberately ghosted from history texts by the prejudiced heteronormative historiography that put bigotry before facts, denying us thousands of LGBTQ+ heroes & heroines! From Mall Frith b.Mary 1584-1659 falsely portrayed as a criminal & immoral for daring to feel, dress, smoke, walk, act on stage & live & be buried as a man in a marble tomb on St Brides Church Fleet Street. Appearing on the #gaybyrne #latelateshow in 1996 aka “My Year As A Blonde” was the most exciting interview I’d ever done. Gay Byrnes Late Late Show was part of every #Irish Friday night & in my case triggered phonecalls from all my #Irish friends worldwide whose mothers had called them to say “yer #author friend, #tyneoconnell was on just Gay Byrnes last night!” I’d finally arrived. For an ancestor of #DanielOconnell The #IrishLiberator it meant more to me than my 2000 word feature in #BritishVogue “My Two Husbands” which had triggered the invitation to Dublin where Divorce had been legalised that day. As a Catholic who hadn’t separated my children from their fathers after divorce I represented a family friendly side of Divorce in what was still a very Catholic country.
