schnick the new digimon episode still has me yelling like if '99 taichi had any nightmares about skullgreymon then '20 taichi is about to go Through Some Days

See, I think its a little different in this case. I don't think Tai is gonna remember much. Technically, it wasn't really his fault that his partner went ballistic. I find that fascinating. In 01, it was completely Tai's fault,he kept pushing Agumon and when he finally digivolved it wasnt bc of his Crest, it was due to all Tai's negative and aggressive emotions.

In this case, Tai got hit by miasama, which yes made him lose himself to the anger of seeing TK just devasted by Matt being hurt and he was frustrated as well, we got those red eyes and angry yelling, and Devimon Mega (keep forgetting his name) probably ate him bc he wanted all that negative energy Tai was emitting.

MetalGreymon was echoing his partner's anger at first bc he was probably frustrated as well they couldn't stop this guy, but when he darkdigivolved, I believe that was solely his decision.

Like MY DINO DUDE WAS MAD BRO. HE WANTED DEVI TO PAY. HE WANTED HIM TO SUFFER AS WELL.

Notice when he digivolved, he was smacking him around like a cat with a toy mouse. Like, he didn't want to straight up destroy him, he wanted to TORTURE him.

Like, I am just really intrigued by this development. Bc we always blame the kids for their partners being hurt by their own mistakes: Tai, Takato, Ken, Kari in Tri even.

But here, we get to see the Digimon just make their own decision to cause the enemy pain no matter what, even if they lose themself because of how overwhelmed they are by their emotions. It's sorta a human trait, that possessive nature. The only Digimon you see it manifest in really are the Virus types.

I love Toei is taking a new direction on the whole darkdigivolution. You can say MetalGreymon going beserk was caused partially due to the miasma, but a good chunk of it was losing Tai right in front of his eyes and just going "YOU KILLED HIM, IM GONNA EFF YOU UP AND I DONT CARE HOW I DO IT, YOURE GOING TO PAY!!"

Angemon had to tell him not to let his anger overtake his senses, so even he could tell this was MetalGreymon's own bad decision making.

sorry this was so long, but thats how I interpreted that episode.

And honestly, Tai is unconscious so I doubt he will remember what happened so the trauma for him was just being devoured alive, haha.

Now when Kari joins the gang later on and gets into danger, oh yeah, I can see him making some rash decisions to make sure she's safe. Don't worry, the Tai Angst train is far from over :)

I’m an evil bitch so Im going to ask- now we know Wiz’s entire evo line, but... if he ever darkdigivolves, what would he digivolve into? Have you ever thought abt it?

After running through the idea with Lea, there’s a few aspects to consider.

Dark Digivolutions generally come about for one specific reason: a digimon’s partner has completely lost their sense of consideration or respect for the digimon as a friend and individual, disregarding their needs and feelings in desperation for more power. Tai, obsessed with the notion of being the only one capable of defending the group, demands Agumon digivolves. Takato, overcome with rage and fear while also questioning the reality of their bond, uses Guilmon as a tool. Minnie (Wizardmon’s partner, designed by Lea, for those playing at home) specifically has the opposite relationship with Wizo; she’s a caretaker and a far more mature member of the group, and is good for him as someone who forces him to start recognizing his own worth and take care of himself. Short of a Dark Spore-esque situation, Minnie’s not going to demand power out of Wizardmon (and there would be a lot of bigger problems to worry about in that case anyway).

The one workaround lies in 02, where the Digimon Emperor hijacks a digimon’s connection to their partner and can force their digivolution, which… is……….. well, that’s a thing that happens in Spite 02! The Emperor gets his own personal hitman vampire, oh dear! If Wizo were to manage to digivolve all the way to Mega while under Ken’s control, then it’d probably be GranDracmon, but Ken really doesn’t have enough power on his side to make that happen, he can barely control any of the Ultimates he gets his hands on.

part of Adventure: Spite that Lea and I would love to explore is giving the partner digimon more of an arc on their own, which means there’s potential room for their own inner turmoil to push themselves too far against their partner. So let’s take it from that angle.

A different way to look at the Dark Digivolution process is the partner making a selfish wish, and having it granted in the worst way possible: Tai wishes for a stronger digimon and he gets an unkillable corpse that rampages and destroys without discrimination until its power runs out, Takato wishes for the destruction of Beelzemon and gets an apocalyptic harbinger that will destroy reality itself. 

So, were Wizardmon to make a selfish wish, it’d be something along the lines of wishing to Make Things Right, because no one else understands how awful or terrible he is, he wants to reject everything about himself he hates so he can just start fixing things. So he forces himself to digivolve into something Holy. And so comes Dynasmon, a force of “good” with no pity or mercy for anything he deems impure or imperfect, ready and willing to raze the ground for the sake of a greater good.

ooooor Wizardmon could just elect not to digivolve at all like a sane person because again he and minnie are on pretty dang good terms and it wouldn’t likely come to that but hey this was a fun brain experiment
