constantly makes you laugh
pulling pranks
making silly faces
or cracking jokes just to see you smile
being with him would feel like one big party, but he’d know how to dial it back when you needed something more serious
he’d write songs for you or dedicate riffs to you during shows.
if you play an instrument or sing, he’d be over the moon about jamming together.
even if you don’t, he’d love to serenade you with his guitar late at night.
you hear that riff? that’s you, baby. pure magic.
GIFT. GIVER. AT. HEART.
LOVES spoiling you with little things he picked up on tour
or handmade gifts he made
expect things like:
a handmade necklace
or quirky little trinkets
he’d be all about going wild at concerts or parties
but he’d also treasure lazy nights at home.
BIG ON PDA
dimebag wouldn’t care who’s watching
he’d hold your hand, kiss your cheek, or pull you in for a full-on smooch whenever the mood strikes
he’d be big on letting the world know you’re his person.
he’d love trying out new recipes and see if he could perfect them
VERY SENTIMENTAL
has boxes on boxes of little things from your relationship
ticket stubs
polaroids
or even napkins from your favorite diner
hypeman to the max
babe, you’re hotter than a texas summer
GAWD DAYUM THAT ASS IN THAT DRESS
WOOWEEE MAMA
DO A SPIN

I'm normally not too bothered by murder cases, but what happened to Dimebag truly makes my stomach churn.
He was such a an important figure, extremely talented, and an inspiration for millions.
He was left slumped over his guitar, the feedback from the amp still ringing.
Killed. Just like that.
Sickens me every time. RIP dime.

Friday, January 31: Pantera, "Right on the Edge"
R.I.P. Diamond Darrell Lance Abbott (1966-2007), Vinnie Paul Abbott (1964-2018)
I Am the Night was heavier than its predecessor, and showcased Pantera’s continued growth as musicians, and was better than their pre-Anselmo hair metal reputation would suggest.  At the very least, it showed that Rex “Rocker” Brown and the Abbott brothers had a firm command of their writing and playing, and all things equal the band’s third album could at least compete with what Savatage and Malice were putting out around the same time.  To be sure, “Right on the Edge” was very nearly overpowered by Terrence Lee’s ludicrous screeching, and the tune bore very little resemblance to what Pantera would ultimately become.  But there was always a fundamental magic in the way Diamond Darrell and Vinnie Paul locked into each other, and Darrell’s playing was already impressive and growing by leaps and bounds even as the track progressed.  What really shone through was the band’s genuine joy and love for music- it was truly infectious and was a big part of Pantera’s innate chemistry and charisma, so even if “Right on the Edge” was silly on its merits, it was still tons of fun and a blast to rock out to.

I usually stick to mediocre anime fanart, but sometimes I like to pay tribute to my baby boy. I had forgotten all about this chibi Dime that I made for the 20th anniversary of his death. 08.20.1966-12.08.2004 ❤️‍🩹
He’s playing “I’ll Cast A Shadow” from RTS (because it’s fitting and that album doesn’t get enough love).
(yes, I realize the guitar isn’t correct. I couldn’t get six strings to fit nicely…so just pretend.)

Friday, January 26: Pantera, "I'll Be Alright"
R.I.P. "Diamond/Dimebag" Darrell Lance Abbott (1966-2004), Vinnie Paul Abbott (1964-2018)
Metal Magic wasn’t very metal, and it certainly wasn’t magical, but considering that the Abbott brothers were still in their teens when their dad helped them make the first Pantera record, it had its moments.  The songs may not have all been there, but a handful of tracks like “I’ll Be Alright” showed an initial spark that would set the band on their way.  In the early days, Pantera was all about having fun, and this track reflected that with enthusiastic playing from every member, and if Terry Glaze’s screeching was always more than a little ridiculous, it also always felt like he was right there in the mix with the Abbotts and Rex “Rocker” Brown.  “I’ll Be Alright” was a no-frills early ‘80s Z-grade headbanger that sounded much more like a group of guys trying to get a party going than shooting for the stars, and that was fundamental to its charm.
