A/n: hello I’m sorry I’m late with this chapter I’m gonna post chapter 3 also soon. Tbh I’ve been writing this on my own time and reading it myself 😂 I’ve been lazy but thanks for the patience. Also to refrain from saying in-game chara a lot when sylus is moving and speaking it’s the chara unless I say otherwise.
CH.2 – First Impressions
[← back] [→ next]
☆ Content: interactive romance, sci-fi setting, shy!love interest (Y/N), slow burn, reverse-harem, eventually smut maybe, Black MC coded but anyone can read, Black Mirror-ish, ocs also in the chap u can imagine what u want them to look like though
Characters: Sylus, Kaela, Reyna, Nova, Y/N, and the crew.
📌 Synopsis:
A new captain, a new crew, and a ship that runs on more than just fuel—it runs on trust. Sylus might have thought stepping aboard was the hard part, but fitting in? That’s an entirely different challenge.
Sylus pressed the choice.
“Bold move? Should I be worried about hazing rituals?”
The first woman let out a short laugh, shaking her head as she lifted her mug to her lips. “Oh, you’re sharp. I like that.” She took a sip before setting it down again. “Don’t worry, Captain. We’re not that cruel. Well, most of us.”
The second woman, the one with the glasses, simply raised an eyebrow. “Hazing? Hardly. But fitting into a crew like ours… that’s another matter entirely.”
The third woman, who had yet to speak, finally leaned forward, her elbows resting on her knees as she regarded him with cool amusement. “Hazing rituals are for rookies,” she said, tilting her head. “We just watch and see if you can handle yourself.”
Y/N shifted uncomfortably beside him. “Um… we should probably start with introductions,” they interjected, their voice quieter than the others.
As soon as Sylus seen the girls, the screen in front of him flickered, and a sleek HUD overlay materialized—an “Introduction Protocol” prompt activating automatically. Each crew member’s name, role, and specialty appeared in glowing text beside their image, a faint pulse marking their presence in real time. A small “Crew Compatibility Rating” hovered at the bottom—currently unavailable.
[Press to Continue] he pressed.
Meet the Crew
☄️Kaela – Ship’s engineer, weapons specialist, and general problem solver. “If something’s broken, I fix it. If something—or someone—needs taking care of, I handle that too.”
Reyna – Navigator and tactical analyst. “If you want to know where we’re going or how to get there in one piece, I’m the one to ask.”
🛸 Nova – Pilot. “Don’t get in my way, and we won’t have a problem.”
📡 Y/N – Communications and research specialist. “Data analysis, language interpretation, signal tracking… um, things like that.”
Sylus noted the stark differences between them—Kaela’s confident, teasing demeanor, Reyna’s composed and methodical approach, and Nova’s no-nonsense attitude. It was a dynamic crew, and it was already clear that they weren’t the type to follow just anyone.
His eyes flicked back to Y/N on the screen, you stood slightly apart from the group, hands clasped in front of yourself. You hesitated for a moment before speaking.
“I… I handle communications and research,” they said softly, almost like they weren’t sure their role was as important as the others. “Data analysis, language interpretation, signal tracking… um, things like that.”
Kaela shot you a grin. “And she makes a mean cup of tea.”
Y/N’s face turned a shade darker, and they ducked their head slightly. “I just… like to be useful.”
Sylus couldn’t help but find the contrast between them and the others fascinating. Where they were bold and direct, Y/N was quiet, reserved—yet there was an undeniable sincerity to them.
Dialogue Choice Appeared:
🔹 1. “Sounds like an impressive crew. I’m lucky to have you all.” (Leader-like response)
🔹 2. “I get the feeling I’m going to have my hands full with you guys.” (Playful response)
🔹 3. “I’ll do my best to keep up—just try not to leave me in the dust.” (Confident response)
Sylus hovered over the options, his mind already racing with possibilities.
Sylus pressed.
“I get the feeling I’m going to have my hands full with you guys.”
Kaela grinned, leaning back against the counter with an easy confidence. “Oh, you have no idea, Captain.” She lifted her mug in a mock toast before taking another sip. “But hey, at least you catch on quick.”
Reyna smirked slightly but said nothing, merely observing him as if making her own silent assessments. Nova, on the other hand, gave a quiet scoff, arms still crossed. “As long as you can keep up, we won’t have a problem.”
Sylus raised his eyebrow, he really wished he could respond on his own, he looks back at his screen, the camera then pans to a small shift in movement beside his in-game avatar.
Y/n fidgeted slightly, her fingers curling at the hem of her sleeve again. She wasn’t laughing or teasing him like the others—if anything, she looked like she wanted to disappear into the floor.
“I-I think you’ll do fine,” she murmured, glancing up at him briefly before quickly averting her gaze.
Sylus felt an odd twinge in his stomach at the way she said it—like she truly meant it but wasn’t used to speaking her thoughts aloud. The others may have been testing him in their own ways, but…it felt like you was rooting for him.
He sighs, what am I even feeling right now he thinks. it must be all the coffee I drunk earlier coming back to me yeah…must be that…
Before he could dwell on it more a chime rang out from his device. The ship ai had interrupted.
“Captain, your presence is required at the Command Center for further mission briefing.”
Reyna shut her tablet with a quiet snap. “That’s your cue.”
Kaela stretched, rolling her shoulders. “Looks like playtime’s over.”
Nova was already pushing herself off the couch. “Let’s see if our new Captain can handle the pressure.”
Y/n hesitated before taking a small step toward the door. “I’ll… I’ll show you the way.”
Sylus in-game character nodded, following as she led him out of the common area and down another long corridor. The others trailed behind them, their presence a silent reminder that his thoughts about just being a casual player was dwindling by the second.
As they walked, a notification popped up in the corner of Sylus’ device.
[New Tutorial Unlocked: Crew Bonding Mini-Games]
Objective: Engage with crew members in interactive scenarios to build rapport and unlock unique character moments.
Below the prompt, a smaller window displayed an alert:
[Mini-Game: Synchronization Test – Assist y/n]
A brief description followed: Help y/n calibrate the ship’s internal communication relay. Improve synchronization for better teamwork!
Sylus blinked as a glowing waypoint appeared just ahead of them, leading to a small control panel embedded in the wall. Y/n noticed it too, her eyes widening slightly.
“Oh… this relay needs recalibrating,” she murmured, half to herself. She hesitated before looking up at Sylus. “Would you, um… mind helping me? It won’t take long.”
A mini-game interface overlaid the screen, displaying a series of circular nodes connected by shifting energy lines. A small tutorial prompt explained the mechanics:
[Tap the nodes in the correct order to match the synchronization sequence. Time your inputs carefully for a higher accuracy rating.]
Sylus smirked, cracking his knuckles getting ready for this mini game. Alright, let’s see what this game’s got.
He began the mini-game. The nodes pulsed in a rhythmic sequence, and he had to tap them in order, matching the glowing pattern as it flickered across the screen. The first few were easy, but soon the pulses sped up, testing his reaction time.
Y/n voice cut through the game interface. “Oh! That was close—try again!” As if taunting him to try harder, he rolls his eyes continuing.
Sylus barely caught the mistake in time, adjusting his timing just as the final sequence locked in. The screen flashed SUCCESS! in bright letters, and a soft chime signaled completion.
[Mini-Game Complete! Crew Bonding +5 | y/n Affinity Increased]
Y/n let out a small breath of relief, a tiny smile forming as she glanced at him. “You’re… really good at that. Thank you.”
Sylus in-game character talks. “Told you I had this under control.”
Her expression softened for a moment, and for the first time, she met his gaze fully.
Then, another notification popped up.
[New Mini-Game Unlocked: Combat Training – Spar with Nova]
From behind them, Nova’s voice cut through the moment. “Alright, Captain. Time to see if you can actually fight.”
Sylus sighed, rolling his shoulders. “No rest for the wicked, huh?”
He didn’t think he would actually be excited to explore this game even more. If Luke and Kieran ever found out he would have to kill them. He laughs a little to himself going back to the game.
As soon as Sylus tapped the screen, the game transitioned seamlessly into Combat Training Mode. His phone vibrated lightly in his hands, and a sleek UI overlay appeared, displaying his health bar, a stamina meter, and a set of virtual buttons for dodging, attacking, and countering. They were just fighting with bare hands for now.
A tutorial prompt popped up at the top of the screen:
[Combat Mini-Game: Spar with Nova]
Swipe to dodge | Tap to attack | Hold to block
Nova cracked her knuckles on-screen, shifting into a ready stance. A countdown appeared.
3… 2… 1… BEGIN!
The moment the match started, Nova lunged forward. Sylus instinctively swiped left, making his in-game avatar dodge just in time. His phone buzzed slightly with the motion, adding to the immersion.
“Not bad,” Nova commented, smirking. “But let’s see if you can keep up.”
She struck again, this time faster. Sylus tapped quickly to block, but Nova’s next attack broke through his defense. His screen flashed -5 HP, and a sharp vibration signaled the hit.
Okay, this is more intense than he expected.
He adjusted his grip on his phone and tapped to counterattack, landing a quick strike. Nova’s health bar dipped slightly, and she let out a small grunt.
“Finally fighting back? Good.”
The game picked up in pace, forcing Sylus to react faster. Nova was relentless, weaving in feints and sudden bursts of speed that made dodging tricky. His thumb flicked across the screen, narrowly avoiding a heavy strike that could’ve ended the match.
Then, a notification popped up:
N Strike – Tap when prompted to execute a perfect counter.]
Right on cue, Nova went for a strong attack. A glowing circle appeared on the screen with a quick-time prompt: TAP NOW!
Sylus reacted instantly, his thumb slamming the screen. His avatar ducked low before delivering a precise counterstrike, sending Nova stumbling back.
KO!
The screen flashed VICTORY, and a new notification appeared:
[Mini-Game Complete! Combat Skill +5 | Nova Affinity Increased]
Nova dusted herself off, rolling her shoulders as she studied him with newfound respect. “You’re not bad, Captain. Maybe this won’t be so boring after all.”
Sylus exhaled, shaking out his hands. He hadn’t expected a mobile game to get his adrenaline going like that.
Y/n, who had been watching quietly from the sidelines, looked both impressed and relieved. “That was… really good.”
A new dialogue choice appeared:
1. “That was intense. Think I earned my place here?” [Confident response]
2. “You weren’t holding back, were you?” [Playful response]
3. “I got lucky. Next time, you’ll probably destroy me.” [Humble response]
Sylus hovered over the options, a smirk tugging at his lips.
This game was way more immersive than he had expected.
With a smirk, Sylus tapped the second option.
“You weren’t holding back, were you?”
Nova raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. “Would you rather I did?” she shot back, her tone edged with amusement.
Sylus’ phone vibrated as a new prompt popped up:
[Nova Affinity +2 | She respects your confidence.]
He grinned to himself. Nice.
Kaela, who had been lounging nearby, chuckled. “I’d say she went easy on you, Captain. But if you’re happy with a small win, who am I to ruin your moment?”
Sylus exhaled a laugh, rolling his shoulders as if shaking off the tension from the fight. “A win is a win, Kaela.”
[New Objective: Continue the Ship Tutorials]
Y/n, still standing a little apart from the others, cleared her throat softly. “Um… should we move on? There’s still a lot of the ship to see.”
Her quiet voice was enough to shift the energy in the room. The crew members exchanged glances before stepping aside to let her take the lead again.
As Sylus followed y/n down another hallway, his phone buzzed again, displaying another mini-game notification:
[New Mini-Game Unlocked: Engineering Puzzle – Assist Kaela]
He sighed, shaking his head with a grin. This game was seriously going all out with immersion.
He moved the screen around changing the perspective. Moving the camera to y/n, he noticed how she kept stealing quick glances at him, as if debating whether to say something. Maybe it was just her shy nature, or maybe…
Sylus smirked.
This game wasn’t just about romance or adventure—it was about connection. And the more he played, the more he realized he wasn’t just here to pass the time.
Ok he was hooked.
Tumblr media
A/n: ok I’m gonna stop right here I’m not sure if this is long I think it’s long enough… Also I’m not sure if u guys want all the extra game stuff in the story with the other girls but I won’t make it too much I think. The tenth Doctor in journeys end (i think?) said a TARDIS is made to be piloted by 6 timelords, what roles would each have in the TARDIS?
What roles would six Time Lords have in piloting a TARDIS?
This is more speculative, based on the known features of a TARDIS.
Console Panels and Systems
A TARDIS console is split into six 'panels', with each panel operating a different aspect of the TARDIS' systems. When there are six pilots, each Time Lord would likely specialise in operating a specific panel and system. Although the console layout may change with each TARDIS's 'desktop theme,' the six fundamental panels remain the same.
Tumblr media
[Image ID: On the left is a top-down diagram of the 9th and 10th Doctor's coral theme TARDIS, divided into six panel sections. Each section is labelled from 1-6 clockwise starting from the 12 o'clock position. On the right is a text list of the panels and their names: Panel 1: Mechanical and Master Control, Panel 2: Diagnostic and Internal Ship Systems, Panel 3: Fabrication and Information Systems, Panel 4: Navigation, Panel 5: Helm and Dematerialisation Systems, Panel 6: Communications and Exterior Monitor./.End ID]
See this page on the TARDIS Technical Index for more variations on desktop themes.
👨‍✈️ Roles and Responsibilities
Here's a breakdown of each potential role and their responsibilities:
🔧 Panel 1: Mechanical and Master Control
Role: Chief Engineer
Responsibilities: The chief engineer monitors the TARDIS's overall operation. They ensure that all the mechanical systems and master controls are working properly. If anything goes wrong, they step in and fix it.
🛠️ Panel 2: Diagnostic and Internal Ship Systems
Role: Systems Analyst
Responsibilities: This person is all about the internals. They monitor life support, environmental controls, and the internal power grid. Basically, they make sure everything inside the TARDIS is working as it should.
🖥️ Panel 3: Fabrication and Information Systems
Role: Data Specialist
Responsibilities: Managing the TARDIS’s databases and info systems, and handling any fabrication needs. Whether it’s creating new tools, repairing old ones, or just making sure the information systems are up-to-date, they’ve got it covered.
🧭 Panel 4: Navigation
Role: Navigator
Responsibilities: Plotting courses through time and space. The Navigator makes sure the TARDIS lands where it’s supposed to, calculating all those tricky temporal vectors and spatial positions. They work closely with the Pilot to make sure the journey is smooth and safe.
🚀 Panel 5: Helm and Dematerialisation Systems
Role: Pilot
Responsibilities: This is the person at the helm, controlling take-off, landing, and in-flight manoeuvres. They handle the dematerialisation and rematerialisation of the TARDIS, making sure it takes off and lands without a hitch.
📡 Panel 6: Communications and Exterior Monitor
Role: Communications Officer
Responsibilities: They handle all external communications and keep an eye on what’s going on outside, involving sending or receiving messages or watching out for any threats or anomalies.
🏫 So...
Potentially, each Time Lord on the TARDIS would have a specialised role associated with a specific panel. Ideally, they're probably all working together like a well-oiled machine. However, poor old solo pilots have to jump around like madmen trying to cover all the controls at once.

Defying all predictions, populist Russia-friendly politician Calin Georgescu won the first round of Romania’s presidential elections on Sunday – signalling that the EU member state has joined the growing trend towards the far-right in the region.
Georgescu, 62, who has no party of his own, got around 23 per cent of the votes, with more than 99 per cent of ballots counted.
At midnight on Sunday, Georgescu hailed the first-round vote as a victory for the “Romanian people”.
In another big surprise, centre-right Elena Lasconi, the leader of the reformist Union for Saving Romania, came second, just a few hundred votes ahead of Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, who leads the Social Democratic Party.
George Simion, leader of the nationalist Alliance for the Union of Romanians, came fourth.
Experts’ pre-poll predictions had put Ciolacu and Simion as the favourites.
“This vote is the biggest surprise in all the elections held so far in Romania,” said journalist Dan Tapalaga.
The second-round run-off will be held on December 8, but before that, Romania has parliamentary elections on December 1, with its political scene thrown into in turmoil by Georgescu’s unexpected success.
Under the Romanian constitution, the president wields considerable power – including oversight of foreign and defence policy and responsibility for appointing the prime minister.
‘TikTok candidate’
Georgescu, a religious nationalist, conducted a low-profile campaign, focusing primarily on social media platform TikTok and making in-person appearances only in selected rural areas. He received no coverage in the mainstream media.
In his campaign messages, he advocated reducing imports, strongly supporting farmers, and boosting food and energy production. He also criticised the EU, claiming it does not adequately represent Romania’s interests.
Georgescu questioned military aid to neighbouring Ukraine and called for an end to the war. In a 2020 interview, he described Vladimir Putin as one of the world’s few genuine leaders, stating that the Russian president loves his country, regardless of the methods he employs.
Speaking late Sunday in front of his home near Bucharest, as he did not even have a campaign headquarters, Georgescu congratulated the Romanian voters for backing him.
“By rekindling the flame of hope, the Romanian people have chosen to no longer kneel, to no longer be invaded, to no longer be humiliated,” he declared.
“Tonight the Romanian people shouted ‘peace’ and they were very loud ,” he added.
Experts struggled to explain the election’s outcome.
“The result of the vote was made possible because there is a significant demand in Romanian society for a politician like Georgescu. Why? I could give a more precise answer if there were high-quality sociological data on what Romanians want. Unfortunately, we lack such data,” said political analyst Claudiu Tufis.
Journalist Tapalaga said he believes that Georgescu’s success, after largely conducting his campaign via social media, also marks a shift in the way political communication is conducted in Romania.
Tapalaga said it was “the first election where social media has been more influential than television. We have seen how TikTok can defeat mainstream media,” he added.
The Romanian diaspora played a crucial role in the first round of the presidential elections. Over 800,000 Romanians living abroad cast their votes – a record turnout.

2 cents from a friend of a friend. I have no horse in this race, just sharing someone else's perspective.
(Quoting my friend inside of quotes, outside of ✨️)
"Withholding credit per the author's request.
But I've known this person for just shy of a decade, and they don't hold back if they don't like someone. Speaking out in a positive way said enough for me to know what kind of person Brian must have been.
I trust their judgement in my daily life, I'll trust them on the character of someone they knew.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Alright fuckers, listen up. You want the "insurance bad" thread? You got it. I was a business process architect at UHC for 8 years. I have seen all the data (some of the data being cited is likely from my old team). I have met and/or worked with the majority of the current and past execs. Some of them are absolutely blood-sucking vampires, but Brian Thompson was not one of them.
All the charts and data you see across social media are from 2021 or prior. You know when Brian Thompson became CEO? 2021. You know who was responsible for all the fucking evil shit you know about UHC? Steve Nelson, the former CEO who is now an exec VP at Aetna. I worked with Steve and Brian. They couldn't be more different. I likely know the next CEO too and I have a hunch on who it will be.
I was at a town hall one time when one of our data analysts asked, "Since 53% of our company is women, why are 70% of the leadership roles filled by men? What are you doing to fix that?" Steve Nelson stammered like crazy, tossed the question to the ONLY female exec, and ended the town hall. You know what BT did when he took over as CEO? Hired women into the exec roles. He increased female leadership across the entire company.
"But UHC denies more claims than everybody..." yeah, Steven Nelson did that. BT kicked off a program to eliminate Prior Authorizations for in-network providers. In 2023, 20% of all prior authorizations were removed. He was striving for 100% over the next 5 years.
BT just happened to be the face on which you can project your rage, but he's the wrong guy. If it were almost anybody else in the market, Steve Nelson, Andrew Witty, etc... I would agree with you. Steve Nelson tried to tell a "relatable story" once about conquering fear and his example was when he went helicopter skiing with his daughters and one of them was too scared to try one of the big jumps. THAT'S THE GUY YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.
It's no secret that I hate the entire idea of health insurance, but it's reality. "Being part of the system is part of the problem" is a childish take. The only way to fix the problem is guys like Brian at the helm. That guy was just murdered. I'm not a conspiracy guy, but based on the way this went down and how much misinformation about him is spreading, it feels like a hit. Stop and think before sharing that meme that slanders him.
✨✨✨✨✨✨
I work in the healthcare industry.
I'm chronically ill.
I've received denials and had to jump through prior auths in my personal and professional life.
I don't like the healthcare system. But I also don't particularly care for a person's murder being used as a tool for "change" when it's just people bitching online. That's not change.
So do something.
Do better. 🤷🏻‍♀️ "

"Boss," My secretary looks up at me with a confused look plastered on her face. "I thought you were sick."
Oh right. I chew my lip.
I offer her my best smile. "I ate some soup! I'm all good now!"
She raises a judgmental eyebrow.
A harsh bump on my shoulder makes me look behind me, resulting in me coming face-to-face with my friend, Emma. She examines me from head to toe, her nose scrunched up. She turns to my secretary. "Hina, why is there a liar in my face?" She questions.
"That's what I'm trying to figure out!"
Emma rolls her eyes and hands me a stack of paper. "I'm glad you enjoyed your 24-hour vacation because you have work to do." Soon, my right hand is overflowing with papers covered in letters and numbers. My face resembles that of confusion and an ever-so-sassy Emma scoffs at my dismay, rolling her eyes. "The CEO's wife cheated on him; he filed for divorce. Ever since then, it's like he's been taking his anger out on us." She jots her lip out to form a pout.
"I... thought it was the other way around? Didn't his wife...?" Hinata trails off and looks at Emma incredulously.
I roll my eyes at their loose lips and make my way to the elevator. I press the button to go to the 11th floor and look over the stack of paperwork Emma handed me. My role as a junior operations analyst is to assess the business policies and procedures of an organization. To make sure the business is running as efficiently as possible, I pinpoint areas that require improvement and assist in creating new plans.
It's my responsibility to carry out research, investigate workflows, and make sure the company complies with legal requirements. I collaborate with each department to schedule meetings with managers and carry out internal audits to gauge their workflows. In order to provide insights into corporate operations, I am a key player in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data. I support management and senior analysts in spotting patterns, summarizing research, and coming to wise judgments.
I'm pulled out of my calculations by the sound of the elevator alerting me to my stop. I head into the hallway to find my nameplate with the numbers 1105 etched underneath it, just beside my door.
I push my door open and carelessly plop the papers onto my desk. Slumping into my office chair, I swing about, already fatigued.
The phone rings on my desk, and I immediately sit up straight and act professionally. I pick up the phone and hear Hina's chirpy voice ringing through. "Ma'am, you are to pick up line 2. There is a gentleman who says he would like to speak with you."
"Will do! Thank you, Hinata." I hang up the phone, this time pressing 'pickup' followed by the numbers 02.
I introduce myself and my role to the guest then ask how I can be of assistance.
"I know who you are, sweetheart; I need a favor." I recoil at the sound of Hanma's voice, pulling away from my phone. "Hanma?!" I inquire.
"How do you know where I work? Why didn't you just text me? Don't call me at my workplace because you're bored." I chastise.
"Wow, this is some customer service. 1. I have my ways; 2. your phone is off, and even if you did answer, you would still nag me for texting you at work; and 3. while I am bored, I need something."
I upturn my lip at his quips. "What is it?"
"I need you to deliver something to someone once you're done at work."
"That sentence contained no nouns at all. I'm having trouble getting a name, knowing where I'm going, or what I'm dropping off. Already a red flag." I deadpan.
"There's my businesswoman." He chuckles. "But no, sweetheart, you can trust me."
I sigh.
"You owe me."
His laugh reverberates over the phone. "Of course, doll."
Tumblr media
As I exit the building, my phone is illuminated by the orange hue of the setting sun. Scrolling down my contacts, I dial Hanma's number and wait for him to pick up.
"Hello?"
"So where am I supposed to be going? Do I walk down the street, or?" I briefly look around for any signs of Hanma.
"A friend of mine is coming to pick you up. Stay where you are." Caught off guard by his sudden serious tone, I hang up and do as I am told.
In less than five minutes, a black Toyota Camry pulls to a stop in front of me. With a text from Hanma telling me what the car looks like, I know that this is the friend he mentioned. Opening the passenger door, I realize there are two men in the car. The driver, brownskinned with black and yellow hair, pushes his glasses up his nose. The passenger, purple haired sporting a jellyfish-like haircut, looks at me as if I just spat on him.
"Can I help you? You're riding in the back." He jots his thumb towards the backseat, gazing down his nose at me as if he is already annoyed by my presence.
"Damn, excuse you." I mumble, slamming the door and sliding into the backseat instead.
I cross my arms and fight the urge to complain to Hanma about his friends' less than welcoming behavior. Sighing heavily, I rest my head against the window as we turn down countless streets. I try my best to remember where we're going just in case things go left.
It isn't long before the car comes to a stop outside an abandoned warehouse. Graffiti and dirt cover what's left of the establishment. I look towards the men.
"Are y'all sure this where we supposed to be?" I gazed out the window with concern.
I get no response as the man in the passenger seat gets out the car. I look to the driver instead. He looks at me, yet gives no response. Irritated, I step out the car, broken glass crunching beneath my feet. I go to the trunk where the purple haired man is located.
He gives me something that is sealed with red string and wrapped in a brown paper bag. I examine the square-shaped object in an attempt to determine what it is.
"Let's go." The man slams the trunk and strides over to the warehouse.
Shortly after the man knocks on the enormous doors, they swing open. A man in a suit flanked by what I could only guess to be bodyguards stood in the center of the room.
The man was overweight, short, and leaned on a cane. The man grins at us, and I'm not sure which sparkled more, the big gold ring on his hand that he extended toward us or the single gold grill on his teeth.
"Haitani! Good ta see ya!" The man bellows.
Though he tried to hide it, the man named Haitani grimaced.
"Pleasure doing business with you, Kosung." One of Kosung's men stalks towards us, and Haitani takes the package out of my hand, giving it to the man.
"Who's the doll?" Kosung motions towards me with the package. "The King's recruiting newbies?" He slightly opens the package, peering through the small hole.
Haitani scoffs. "I sure hope not."
Haitani clears his throat, then all eyes are on him. "I have some toys in the trunk." Haitani uses his head to motion towards the car.
Kosung hands the package to one of his men. "The King sure does act fast, huh? Let's see what you've got."
Haitani grabs my upper arm and drags me out the warehouse. Once the heavy doors close behind us, he spins me around so that I'm facing a small shed hidden far behind the warehouse.
"See that shed over there?" Haitani points, "Go in there and grab anything with the word Bonten on it." He pats my shoulder and starts to walk to the car.
I turn and grab the sleeve of his tux. "So you wanna be rude from jump, then have the nerve to ask me to do something for you? Have you lost your goddamn mind?!" I push his arm.
"Have you lost yours? If you're gonna be sensitive over every little thing, you shouldn't have offered to help in the first place." He glares at me. "Hanma needs to keep his bitches on a leash." He mumbled and continued to walk to the car.
It took everything in me not to grab him by his ugly ass hair and slap the shit out of him. Regardless, I turn and walk to the shed, only to be met with a rusty padlock. I look around for something to break- much less, open- the lock. Hidden in the tall grass, I find a hammer and ready myself. With three good swings, the lock breaks off. With the door dragging on the ground, it takes most of my strength to open it, though just enough for me to squeeze through.
Once inside, I discover a dusty storage area with documents strewn about. Not sure where to look first, I maneuver over to the office desk in the middle of the room. While looking through papers, a particular document catches my eye. The name of the company I'm working for, Gynja Investments, and Bonten are supposed to be completing a deal today.
Organizing the documents on the desk: a stack for Gynja Investments, a stack for Bonten, and a stack for the plans they have created and intend to create together. I fold up the stacks that have to with the company I'm working under, and stuff them into my shoes. I grab Bonten's papers and stuff them into the waistband of my skirt.
Suddenly, my body is thrown forward, and my chest meets the desk. Instantly, what I can only assume is a zip tie, binds my wrists together. As I attempt to scream for help, my assailant gags my mouth with a cloth, tying it.
They yank me up by the zip tie, causing the plastic to dig into my wrists. I scream in pain as I am pushed out of the shed. I scream and kick, but my attempts to make a sound are met with silence and my kicks miss their target. Soon, we come to the back door of the warehouse, only for the doors to be flung open by my assailant, and me to meet the disgusting floor. Looking up, my eyes meet Haitani's- disappointed? disgusted?- expression.
No, it was more like he was bothered with the fact that I got caught and he now has to save me. But by the looks of it, I'm not even sure if he wants to do that. Kosung looks back at me and smiles.
"Haitani! I thought you said it was a pleasure doing business with me?" He turns back to the man in question.
Haitani picks at his ear. "That's the thing, Kosung. The boss thought so too. So while you're worried about my rat, shouldn't you be worried about why one of yours has supposedly been taking millions from Bonten?"
Haitani takes out his phone, seemingly uninterested in what Kosung has to say next.
Kosung's face grows red as he grits his teeth with anger. "Me? Skim Manjiro? Don't make me laugh, bastard! What business do I have skimming a gang that's going to fall within days?!-" The man's sentence is cut off with a blood curdling scream and the sound of a gunshot ringing through the air. Blood splatters from the man's knee as he falls to the ground.
I look back to see a man with a pink mullet and scars adorning each side of his mouth, pointing a smoking gun at Kosung. "Watch your tongue, pig."
I can hardly understand what's going on as shots ring through the air. Trying my best to get to safety, I crawl behind a crate. Screams and gunfire are all that can be heard throughout the warehouse. Just then, a large man gets thrown at the crate in front of me, breaking it and knocking me out in the process.

### The Agents of Crimson Dawn: Shadows in the Galaxy
Crimson Dawn is not just a powerful syndicate; it is also a sophisticated network of agents who operate in the shadows, executing missions that serve the organization's ambitious goals. These agents vary in skill, background, and specialization, making them formidable players in the galaxy's underworld.
### Types of Crimson Dawn Agents
1. Field Operatives:
- These agents form the backbone of Crimson Dawn's operations, executing high-stakes missions that involve infiltration, intelligence gathering, sabotage, and assassination. Trained in a variety of combat skills, including both ranged and hand-to-hand techniques, field operatives are adept at blending into their surroundings and disguising their true intentions.
- Equipped with advanced technology and weapons, they often work in small, tactical teams to carry out precise objectives, whether that be taking out key political figures or sabotaging rival organizations.
2. Intelligence Analysts:
- Operating primarily behind the scenes, intelligence analysts are responsible for gathering, interpreting, and disseminating critical information. They leverage contacts within various governments, corporations, and criminal syndicates to build a comprehensive understanding of emerging threats and opportunities.
- These agents also engage in cyber operations, hacking into secure networks to extract sensitive data, thereby providing Crimson Dawn with a strategic advantage in both political and military maneuvers.
3. Infiltrators and Moles:
- Infiltrators are highly trained agents who embed themselves within other organizations, often posing as employees or allies. Their primary goal is to gather intelligence, sow discord, and manipulate decision-making from within.
- Moles are individuals who have been recruited or coerced to work for Crimson Dawn while maintaining their positions in rival organizations. They are invaluable for providing inside information about corporate strategies, political machinations, and military operations.
4. Assassins:
- Elite assassins within Crimson Dawn act as the organization's "clean-up crew," eliminating threats that could jeopardize their operations. These agents are experts in stealth, precision, and various forms of weaponry, making them lethal opponents.
- Their targets often include high-profile political figures, rival leaders, and key players in the arms trade. Assassins work independently or in small teams and are known for their signature methods, leaving little trace behind.
5. Fixers:
- Fixers are agents who possess an extensive network of contacts and resources across different sectors, including crime, business, and politics. They are skilled negotiators and problem solvers who can arrange deals, procure rare items, or eliminate obstacles that stand in the way of Crimson Dawn's goals.
- Through their vast network, fixers ensure that Crimson Dawn remains one step ahead, able to leverage influence and connections to achieve its aims.
### Training and Skills
1. Combat Training:
- All agents undergo rigorous combat training, tailored to their roles within Crimson Dawn. Field operatives and assassins receive specialized instruction in various forms of hand-to-hand combat, marksmanship, and the effective use of both conventional and unconventional weapons.
- Training often includes exercises in stealth, evasion, and escape techniques, ensuring that agents can operate effectively in dangerous environments.
2. Intelligence and Infiltration Techniques:
- Agents are trained in advanced methods of surveillance, disguise, and information extraction. This includes hacking systems, social engineering, and the ability to read social cues to manipulate targets effectively.
- Infiltrators receive specific training in blending in with different cultures and social settings, which helps them gather intelligence unnoticed.
3. Psychological Manipulation:
- Agents are educated in the art of persuasion and manipulation, making them adept at gaining the trust of others or bending others to their will. This skill is vital for infiltrators and fixers who need to navigate complex relationships within rival organizations.
- Understanding human psychology allows agents to find leverage points to influence decision-makers or destabilize rival factions.
### Conclusion
The agents of Crimson Dawn represent the dark underbelly of power, acting as invisible hands that shape the balance of influence throughout the galaxy. From field operatives executing missions to intelligence analysts decoding crucial information, each agent plays a vital role in supporting the organization’s ambition for supremacy.
As the galaxy becomes increasingly entwined in conflict, the actions of Crimson Dawn’s agents will be pivotal in manipulating the tide of power, weaving a complex web of influence that serves to elevate the syndicate while undermining its enemies. In the shadows, they work relentlessly, ensuring that Crimson Dawn remains a dominant force amid the chaos of the galaxy.

does anyone have experience confronting their employer about your responsibilities getting wildly out of sync with your job title? my title is supply chain analyst but more than 50% of my work is not supply chain related at all anymore. I'm being treated mostly as a data analyst. data analyst salaries are 10% higher than supply chain analysts salaries in my area plus there are many more job opportunities for data analysts. I want a title change.
also does anyone have experience writing a resume when your responsibilities are not related to your title? should I just say I'm a data analyst because that's the work I'm doing or is there some special section I can add noting secondary work as an unofficial data analyst. there is other shit I do very often too that is barely related to either role.
anyone who has been following me for a while is gonna think I'm sooo late to this realization but it's getting pretty clear to me that my workplace is not going to stop pushing me into roles that I'm not appropriately compensated for, and because these roles are not official I will never receive any support, even when I explicitly request it. I have already been denied support multiple times.
this isn't just random people asking me to do one-time odd jobs either. our COO, CFO, and multiple directors ask me directly to do shit like investigate errors in our website and its tools to uncover what is causing data to display incorrectly. this is to shift labor off our web dev team and onto me, why us paid way less than a developer. I do NOT know ANY programming, I just know the database. this has happened five or six times now.
I also manage customer issues directly with the customers because our sales team does not appropriately train anyone in their department. I create orders for them too because they can not be trusted to enter them (not because they're untrained, but because they were not entering these intentionally). I provide records and reporting for accounting audits. I build weird calculators and generators in Excel for every department except two (IT and web dev) because those two can't justify devoting time to those projects and integrating them into our site. I create extremely weird queries to trace information that out database does not track appropriately (and this will never be fixed).
there are zero docs for anything I do except the ones I personally wrote, and only very limited notes scattered around. I was never trained and only picked sql and stuff up cause when I was a buyer digging into data helped me solve problems more efficiently. I have been begging web dev to tell me when they update anything because they keep breaking extremely serious tools but they have been ghosting me entirely. literally all they have to do is CC me on update emails but they won't do it.
also there isn't anyone else in the company who is proficient in sql and stuff (outside dev, and they're miles above me) to back me up so if I'm overloaded or need other help I'm shit out of luck. this makes taking PTO a fucking nightmare too because I'm always in the middle of helping someone out of a fucking fire and everyone does that shit where they say I can take PTO any time I want without worrying but then constantly assign me with critical tasks and demand results asap.
It is beyond time for me to be realistic about this job and what I want to do with myself 40 hours a week until I die, so I need to start working toward either making my current situation more tolerable or going elsewhere.
