I remember going to The Ritz in New York and in between bands they would drop a screen and show films and play great music. It was way back in 1981 it was there where playing the battle scene in #empirestrikesback on the ice planet they were blasting The Cure’s #primary and it so worked. Hay's Galleria #Londra #London #HaysGalleria Passeggiando lungo la sponda sud del Tamigi, tra il London Bridge e il Millenium Bridge, si incontra uno dei ritrovi più interessanti di Londra: l'Hay's Galleria. E' una galleria al coperto, molto luminosa, con copertura realizzata in ferro e plexiglass. Come si evince dalla foto nel mezzo della galleria è posizionata una bella vasca piena d'acqua (e di monetine) sormontata da una grande scultura. Quest'opera d'arte, che rappresenta i velieri che attraccavano al molo Hay Wharf, è nominata "The Navigators" ed è stata realizzata nel 1987 da #DavidKemp. Ai due lati dell'Hay's Galleria fanno bella mostra di se dei carrettini con souvenirs, bigiotteria o materiale da collezione In questo luogo, nei secoli scorsi, vi si trovava un magazzino con annesso molo (Hay Wharf) originariamente di proprietà di un facoltoso mercante, Alexander Hay, collegato con il porto di Londra. Era talmente importante da essere denominato "la dispensa di Londra". Nel tempo ha subito diversi eventi. Nel giugno del 1861 fu distrutto dal grande incendio di Soutwark. Nel settembre del 1940, durante la seconda guerra mondiale, fu pesantemente bombardato. Nel dopoguerra il commercio diminuì drasticamente e la zona circostante divenne sempre più economicamente depressa. Nel 1980 è stato ristrutturato realizzando l'odierna galleria e trasformato in un luogo ad attrazione turistica. Nel lato sinistro vi sono negozi mentre nel lato destro vi sono due tipici locali londinesi: Starbucks Coffee, dove è possibile gustare i tipici cappuccini, caffè, the e dolcetti vari e il Cafè Rouge, che oltre che da caffetteria fa anche da ristorante. L'intera area è di proprietà del St Martin's Property Corporation, il braccio immobiliare dello Stato del Kuwait. . .
