Weird Route Noelle and Kris have similarities to Jesus Christ and Judas Iscariot, respectively Noelle is the only one who can free Kris from the player (specifically in the Weird Route, possibly in the main route)

Chaos (the literal location) is a layer between the Light World and the Dark World, a locked gate to it lies in Castle Town (probably through the true Dark Fountain. beyond that big door with the heart/soul and wings.)

The Cliffs / Strange Place meant to resemble Tartarus, the biblical Abyss, possibly Sheol

Titans are imprisoned in Chaos. Roaring likely emerges from the Cliffs in the Dark World, and the lake in the Light World

PROPHECY

prophecy is untrustworthy

"Angel Trinity Theory" / The Angel is The Father, Noelle Holiday is The Son, and the Soul is the Holy Spirit, together forming the Angel's trinity. contrasted by the Delta Warriors, an unholy trinity or something like that

closing Dark Fountains + recruiting Darkners = parallel to Book of Revelation, Satan "deceiving nations" and gathering them for the last holy battle

Deltarune experiment end goal = changing the world order, and its people. metamorphoses of the protagonists in particular, delta / change

the prophecy (Legend of Delta Rune, The Roaring) parallel the Greek creation myth, and the bible's Genesis

"the Vessel is the Roaring Knight" Theory, Supporting Points and Possible Reasons

the Vessel and the Knight use it/its pronouns.

resembling Kris, the Vessel may have it's own knife, and may possibly don a knightly suit of armor in Dark Worlds. the Knight itself has a blade, which appears to be a knife.

the theme of being discarded/abandoned is present with the Vessel (a possible motive to bringing Dark Worlds into physicality).

the Vessel automatically receives the gift of Mind if a new save file is made in Chapter 2. this may suggest it can develop it's own thoughts and motives.

despite being known as the Roaring Knight, it is never explicitly mentioned in the prophecy cinematics. paired with the Vessel's unforseen discarding, the Vessel may have suddenly created the role of Knight, or could have usurped it.

oceans (which is connected to the Titans and The Angel) has a correlation to the Vessel, VIA the survey segment's background. the Knight has a connection to oceans because of the Roaring.

NOELLE CHRIST MASTERPOST

taken straight from a reblog i made, here are various things and imagery in and out of game that displays Noelle Holiday's correlation to Jesus Christ.

CW: Weird Route and Christianity.

to start, just off of her personality, Noelle very much has a martyr complex. constantly giving her own comfort up for other's.

she abides her mother's wishes and cannot say no, she gives herself over to Queen willingly to save Berdly, she pushes her own feelings down and hides them to keep other's from worrying.

much of the characters in Deltarune do this kind of stuff too, however, Noelle's also got a lot of other things that lends directly to her Christ theme.

like her name.

Noelle is the feminine form of Noel, which translates to Christmas. the birthday of Jesus Christ, n all that. Holiday also fits.

also, her appearance.

she's got golden hair, which is a relatively common, yet incorrect portrayal of Jesus.

her antlers have an intentional shape, too; they resemble crosses.

her robes in the Dark World are plain and white. people often attribute this to it being a "snow angel" joke, which it is, but miss out on how it also resembles the stereotypical white robes Jesus is oft depicted in.

near the end of the Normal Route too, we also see Noelle posed exactly in a crucifix position. (the blue hand may as well be alluding to the Weird Route.)

so. as for the Weird Route.

the route itself, the way it plays is suspiciously similar to Jesus' final moments before his own crucifixion, but i'm going to gloss over that mostly in favor of directly visible canonical info. of which is this.

the Thorn Ring, or as Spamton phrases it, "[Ring] of [Thorns]" is a word for word parallel to the Crown of Thorns. the crown was an object of mockery created by the Romans and placed upon Christ's head right before his crucifixion.

... i know i said i wasn't gonna talk about it, but i think it's fair to mention how Kris, a trusted friend of Noelle's, is the one to "betray" her and "sell her out" (Dark Dollars for the ring) in the same way Judas Iscariot, trusted disciple of Christ, sells him out in trade for silver. they are also possessed by the Player, which in one of the Gospels it is said Judas was possessed by the Devil.

now for canonical information outside of the game.

in the Spamton Sweepstakes, particularly Icepalace-Glaceir, the room of which she explores in Dragon Blazers is icy, and more importantly, cross-shaped.

it being an ice area and shaped like that is, i would say, an intentional detail.

ehhhh alright. this is all i can think of off the top of my head, but this girl is a certified Christ Figure.

th "Ralsei is overlooked" thing is one of the biggest parallels he's got with Kris.

he's forgotten unless pointed out, when he's noticed it's always in relation to someone else (cough cough ASRIEL, in-game and OUT. th irony of me comparin him to Kris rn). he's just. treated as "the friend of", and not He Himself, Ralsei. he's there to appease, n loves to give

Kris is (or was) like that too. they're "the sibling of Asriel", n ignored unless they're bein othered for their differences. they give, gullibly so, for attention and most of all acceptance. it doesn't change anything

since we don't have any Asriel sprites to talk about rn, i'm going to talk about someone else that is primarily left handed, and that person is... Susie!

i'm aware that this is likely a "whatever hand works the best for the character's current action", cuz there are also unique sprites where she only uses her right (example: Dark World pointing, and pulling Kris along in Chapter 2)

but she primarily uses her left hand in most sprites, and especially in sprites that require more strength (like throwing someone and swinging her ax!)

the word "chaos" is used a lot in reference to the roaring so it could be related to that?

undeniably is. chaos ties in heavily to the Titans and their Greek mythological counterparts. fits in with the biblical themes too, of course, but yeah.

big ramble incoming.

so Chaos, in Greek cosmogony, is the void state before the creation of the universe. this same term is used in theology describe the abyss created between Heaven and Earth in the Bible

as an element in Deltarune, we know it is Jevil's. and his tie to the Titan's is mostly VIA his Devilsknife, which is visibly a scythe.

not goin too deep into it here but, in summary, the Titan Cronus had a scythe given to him by his mother, Gaia (Earth). he used it to eh... sever his father's (Uranus, Sky/Heaven) gonads, of which he tosses into the sea.

that's scythes, Titans, Earth, Heaven, and the ocean. the ocean is reoccuring in Deltarune.

it appears as the background in the Goner Maker, playing as audio when Kris falls into ??? Place (that barren area with the Titan eyes and black runny goop), Dark Fountains being water-like, Onionsan's mention of a song from deep below, and water being referenced by Jevil when he is violently defeated. the line of mention beinf "HELL'S ROAR BUBBLES FROM THE DEPTHS". roar, like the Roaring.

but also the usage of Roar is particularly interestin with Susie's Roar ACT, and also the fact that she is the only one that can wield the Devilsknife. we first learn of her as Suzy in the Waterfall area, and she dreams of being a "Susiezilla", which is a reference to Godzilla, a giant, ancient reptile who rose from water.

...getting off topic there, back to chaos.

the Greek mythographer Pherecydes of Syros interpreted Chaos (the abyss/void/whatever) as water. faceless, and dark. Dark Fountains appear to pulse like water.

Hesiod's Theogony suggests that Chaos was a place located below Earth, but above Tartarus (prison of the Greek Titans). fits in with how the DR Titans rise from the Dark Fountains, once balance is thrown. [ somewhat related, a more in-depth analysis between Tartarus and ??? Place. ]

now, a very particularly interesting one to me is the way Chaos is described in Roman poet Ovid's Metamorphoses (that word is quoted by Jevil WHILE he transforms into a scythe). in his writing Ovid describes it as this:

Before the ocean and the earth appeared— before the skies had overspread them all— the face of Nature in a vast expanse was naught but Chaos uniformly waste. It was a rude and undeveloped mass, that nothing made except a ponderous weight; and all discordant elements confused, were there congested in a shapeless heap. (source)

as i mentioned, Susie wields the Devilsknife, and seemingly has a connection to the ocean motif. the way Ovid describes Chaos with being a "rude and undeveloped mass", also fits with Susie's rude abilities and the rude element.

with her being a (likely draconic) reptile monster too, we can compare her to various biblical serpents such as the sea monster, Leviathan, a being that is known as an "embodiment of chaos". the leviathan is also often compared to other figures such as the Beast out of the Sea, and Hellmouth.

well. as of this moment this is all i can remember, but yes. chaos is undeniably connected to the Roaring, and a LOT of other things in Deltarune.

so. breaking down biblical verses from Job 37 NIV that may have relation to Deltarune, this time, in relation to the Snowgrave Route.

4: God's voice equated to a roar, a word in game that is currently important to Jevil, Susie, the Titans, and in extension, the Angel. of note, Jevil's line: "AND HELL'S ROAR BUBBLES FROM THE DEPTHS."

4.2: "his voice" and "holding nothing back", equatable to the Player's forcefulness in the Weird Route.

5 and 6: Kris' continues to put their trust into the Player, despite the actions they take in the route.

8: Darkners hiding and actively running from Kris and Noelle as the route progresses, they ARE the weather.

10: "breath of God produces ice", as Noelle Iceshocks per "Kris'" and the Player's command.

19: i have nothing specific to say here, just wording of particular interest to keep an eye on.

20: the Player is unable to communicate with Kris, even if they wished to object.

22: God comes "in golden splendor", gold of which is Noelle's color.

23: the Player is not able to be reached by Kris or Noelle, and this could be "justified" (incorrectly) that the Player is not (intentionally) oppressive with their choices, and are "correct" in them.

24: Darkners of Castle Town refer to Kris (and likely the Player) as Boss. Darkners, especially Ralsei, see Lightners as superiors, too. and "does he not have regard for all the wise in heart?" to oppose Lightners (and Lightners, the Player) would be incorrect; it is "wise to follow the order of things".

these being verses from the Book of Job is particularly interesting, as the two of the primary themes in it is: trusting God, despite all that you may endure or suffer, and the mystery of His justice.

if you've got the time, definitely look into a summary or something of Job's story, as it is very applicable to Kris', especially with the Weird Route in mind.
