You see, very easy to kick the ball around and have fun with it, especially when it comes back to you no matter how far he kicked it. Very fun, very fast, very durable, and he can kick hard.

Sometimes he plays with it in the air, where it someone just gives a fuck you to gravity and stays in the air when he's kicking it, other times it'll abide by gravities rules when he's on the ground.

Except, in this new dimension, one of heroes and villains. He may have accidentally hit one of them with it, and if it was a normal ball then it wouldn't be a problem, but no, this is Danny's ball that's durable as fuck and since he can kick extremely hard it, well.

And you know what? The guy actually took it with zero effort, he's not even sure it affected the guy that much.

The guy was fast, accurate, and could kick just as- if not even harder than Danny could. So obviously, he started a game right then and there, in the air, despite there being no goal.

On Soulmates

I do love that the title of Ch. 677, the Scar Akai/Bourbon introduction case, is 運命の人, i.e. soulmate. If you google 運命の人, all you'll get is articles about meeting your (romantic) soulmate, about whether soulmates really exist, etc.

And then the official Viz English translates it as "A Twist of Fate":

Meanwhile, unofficial translations are slightly better but literally translate the individual words instead of translating the whole term itself:

Despite being stated to exist in the same universe...there's a slight difference between the Magic Kaito world and the Detective Conan world. Real magic does exist in Magic Kaito (even if he himself just uses stage tricks, Akako and Pandora are two examples of real magic) and real magic does not exist in the Detective Conan universe.

This puts the crossover of DCMK a bit at odds, is magic real or not? When Kaitou KID shows up in Detective Conan, he doesn't check the gems in the moonlight for Pandora because real magic doesn't exist in the Detective Conan universe.

So what is Kaitou KID's motivation? In Magic Kaito, it's clear. Find Pandora and destroy it so that a criminal organization cannot get their hands on immortality. But in Detective Conan? A core part of his motivations is missing. Perhaps it could be to figure out why his dad was killed, but... that's linked to Pandora too.

The magic of Pandora just being a folk tale would work in Detective Conan. If the criminal organization believes in the magic, then they will hurt people to get it, no matter if the magic is real or not. Keeps the motivation without real magic. Still works, right? But then why doesn't Kaito check the gems still? Or fake a gem and destroy that one in front of the bad guys? Or fake a gem and let the organization take it. If the legend of the gem doesn't come true, then it's because magic isn't real.

The ramifications of real magic existing in one universe and not the other is huge. Akako doesn't canonically exist in Detective Conan, as suggested by Gosho Aoyama himself. So what about heists she had a role in, are they also not canon to Detective Conan?

What else differs between universes? The butterfly effect exists, so what has it made a hurricane of? I'm going insane!

my dcmk lore is that I was hearing about the show from my friend for 4 years before I finally started watching it, and she failed to mention Many things about it. including that Conan is actually this guy named Shinichi.

I thought the series was episodic so I started in the middle of the 700s, and they didn't mention Shinichi's name ONCE. so I ended up having to figure out myself that Conan is actually that random ass teenager that keeps showing up in the openings and endings

Well, considering I've been not-so-subtly losing it over the Kpop Demon Hunters movie, it'll come as no surprise that I considered what a DetCo AU I could make out of it.

There was only one thought plaguing me.

In the case of the Gosho Boys detective trio (Shinichi, Heiji, and Saguru) taking the role of HUNTR/X, there is the following issue. Shinichi can't sing to save his life in canon, except for having perfect pitch (if the M12: Full Score of Fear movie is to be believed).

So you know what would be interesting?

If he used his violin instead, totally shred on stage with it like Alexander Rybak did in Fairytale. And if that ends up catching a certain guilt-ridden demon's attention *coughs*Kaito's*coughs* even better 🤭
