THE BUTTERFLIES IN HIS STOMACH FOUND REASON TO FLUTTER, MUCH LIKE HIS OWN HEART ——— such tender words striking him deeply, for he never imagined things getting to the point where even a smile could at times be hard to come by.

It was far easier to entrench himself in (treacherous) thought, even as the glittering of the riverbed beneath the gondola they rode in was so mesmerizing to gaze upon; to let the unease and the fear and the dread creep into his heart and eat it out from the inside. Damn near believing that the little girl that he adored with all his heart—grinning and flapping her arms excitedly in his embrace—was still better off with a proper ‘Mother’. That his dearest husband deserved a far better…

Oh, this wasn’t how he wished for things to go today — he wished he could enjoy this properly, and that these feelings and more could finally leave him alone. But now he’s gone and bothered him again; gone and made him think that there was something wrong again, and he hated that. He hated that he hadn’t gotten over this yet. That his resolve had cracked to such a degree that the pieces no longer fit.

He tried to muster a decent smile for him—he tried, he really did! Feeling so very sorry that he could not give him anything better. That these ghosts could not lay themselves to rest.

“…I don’t want you to think that I’m not having fun,” he murmured, holding onto Rael tenderly and stroking her dark curls, “I am, I really am —…and I’m sorry if you were thinking otherwise. …The voices are just so… loud.”

Decided to experiment with no lineart style, and drew Ceaseless Void! It's a lot more fun to draw than fight. Lots of interesting shapes, and fun, saturated colors on the dark energy. I'm also not very experienced with backgrounds, but I did my best.

In the future, I want to improve on uniting the main subject and the background, and making him a little more 3D and less flat. Also, I want to draw the other two Sentinels, and maybe the Devourer of Gods himself some time!

It wasn't rare that Shun would whip around the Den's many corners and halls at such a speed that he hardly paid any attention to what might be in his way, nonetheless it never smarted any less when he did inevitably run into someone else.

"Woah, what's good!? Uuuhh... Zeta, right?" Was he gonna get an earful for this one today? He wouldn't be surprised.

It was hard to say that she understood what was going on. It felt like she was being told that the moon was cheese and they were going to the moon to get more cheese. It was stupid, and she didn’t get it whatsoever. “You’re telling me that the monster I burnt was still alive? And I didn’t succeed in turning it into charcoal?”

The Pyrenian was very confused about this. It should’ve been charcoal, and she had no idea how it wasn’t. It felt like she’d stepped through a portal where the laws of logic no longer applied to the world... Well, it never did with her.

“Jeez. Just dumb it down for me. It sounds like you’re telling me to go to the moon for cheese.”

'NEATH MIDNIGHT'S SHADOW DID HOPEFUL WINGS TAKE FLIGHT———landing upon the deck of the very beauty drawn with an exacting eye upon a crumpled yellowed page. An unmistakably majestic and stolen marvel of ishkian belonging, noble in name and structure both. In having glimpsed many a gauntlet runner in his desperate search for the genuine article, there was now nary a doubt in his mind that his true target would grace his presence soon enough. All that remained now was lying in wait until the fated hour.

The thick forests outside the comfort of Brilehaven's walls (and by proxy, the seas which seemed oddly calm this night) did well to assuage the mustari of the doubt that weighed upon his brow. It was not so much that he doubted his odds of claiming this bounty with strength alone———a secondary measure, just in case———but more that he doubted this thief's own willingness to even hear him out in the first place once he discovered his secret was now but a fleeting memory; his tracks uncovered, his capture imminent.

And so, against the backdrop of glittering stars and an ominous moon, Mana closed his eyes and breathed out a quiet sigh through the mask adorning his head; mindful of the magla that hovered so faintly around him, staff clutched tight 'neath snow white robes. In the end, he probably only had one good shot at this. But accepting defeat was not an outcome he would take lying down.

He would see his dream be made reality. Even if it meant clipping an angel's wings.

"Nothing is gonna change with that attitude. &’ if you drink another cup of coffee.”  He muses aloud while teeth chew the end of his cigarette.  The den was quiet at this time of night as most turned in early for whatever mission was on the horizon for tomorrow.  He himself had a mission to track a pride of vajras before they got too close to another team’s mission.  It’d be a hassle and would probably go sideways somehow but he still had no desire to sleep.  

“C’mon rookie, put down the cup and let’s just talk ‘til one of us pass out and wake up on the floor.  Sound good?”

 “Have you done the laundry yet.” Precise folding, everything is neat and orderly. The advantage of being capable of living in the ash storm is that they are not obstructed by ...ash storms. So in one of the bases near the ocean, they can clean and purify water to their heart content. This life style...is pleasantly mundane.
