Other related factoid: I knew that Anne Rice collected dolls & I knew that she commissioned five HUNDRED identical Lestat dolls but what I did NOT know was that at one point her entire doll collection was sizable enough that it was stored in a three-story former orphanage in New Orleans. Which like. Yeah, of course. I never in a thousand years would have guessed that but of course.

I’m here again with Palestinian fundraisers I’ve compiled, but this time is a little different. Instead of people who’ve reached out to me through tumblr, I’d like to spotlight campaigns that belong to friends of my friends. We’re currently sharing these campaigns on twitter & instagram & decided we wanted to give them an extra push by crossposting here. Ashraf, Sary & Alaa Abu Musa are brothers, all from Al Maghazi camp. Their family pharmacy along with their homes were destroyed & they are now asking for help raising the funds they need to survive.

Ashraf (instagram here) currently lives in Belgium. He is managing the campaign for his brother Alaa.

Alaa (instagram here) is working to evacuate their mother, his children, & himself. – €33,184 / €70,000 While the campaign is making good progress, the goal recently needed to be increased because they needed to spend some of the money on daily necessities. Let’s continue to support them & get them the funds they need! 

Sary (instagram here) is managing his own campaign. He is working to evacuate his wife & children, along with himself.  – €12,438 / €30,000 – He’s close to halfway there now, but they’ve been displaced several times over the past few days & are in a lot of danger. Let’s get them to 15k ASAP! 

Hala Okasha – her instagram is here – €222 / €5,000

Hala is only 17 years old & caring for her six siblings, including her 5 year old brother. She’s currently trying to raise funds for their immediate needs, such as food & water, & the campaign is Extremely Low on Funds. Let’s try & get it to their first $500 today!!

Nihal is fundraising to evacuate her family, which consists of 5 members, including a 7 year old girl. They were displaced again from Rafah a few days ago & still need our help. They’re so close to their goal now, let’s get them there ASAP!

My friends & I have been trying to help Hala Okasha, a 17 yr old girl from Gaza, with her fundraising efforts. Hala is caring for her six siblings, including her 5 yr old brother, whose portrait is above!

She just met her first goal of €5k! This is wonderful, but she needs a total of €15k in order to evacuate everyone, not just her two youngest brothers. Please give everything you can to help this family, & share the campaign widely!!

I was tagged by @mildmayfoxe for favorite first watches of June!! I cheated & included a first watch from July 1st bcuz everything else I saw in June was a rewatch LOL... Overall I watched 7 movies!

-The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) bcuz I wanted to watch a lighter Cohen Brother's movie & even tho it's WILD that I haven't seen Hail Caesar! yet based on my interests I picked this bcuz the title was SO inscrutable. God this was hilarious. Great cast, great script that I keep quoting; frex when Cary Grant nearly fell to his death in North by Northwest (also a first watch this month & I'd watch it again CANNOT understand why people think this is Hitchcock's best) I literally said out loud to nobody "He shoulda got the double stitch".

-Charade (1963) bcuz I was on a Cary Grant/Jimmy Stewart/Kim Novak/Hitchcock kick for about two weeks. This is SO fun, Grant & Hepburn's chemistry is AMAZING, really deft turns between screwball comedy & thriller. I like it so much that I want it on DVD.

-Hundreds of Beavers (2022) I've been meaning to watch this since last winter & was exactly as funny & inventive as I thought it was going to be I keep thinking tons of the gags & LOSING it...surely you will not regret watching Hundreds of Beavers

Fulfilled haunting dream of baking Devonshire splits. Everything went middle-of-the-road wrong resulting in underwhelming (store bought & raspberry) jam & cream sandwich things. Am now having ideas for how to make actually good dessert sandwiches with milk breads & from now on if I have an ominous dream about cooking I will Not Make That
