So, according to this article 34,000 new digital images of medieval items were uploaded on this site:
https://www.europeana.eu
But it's not just medieval stuff, it's a lot more! Search or pick a theme and explore. It's a great resource of european historical items, documents and images, for writing, art, researching and for whatever else strikes your fancy. You got music, maps, art, fashion, newspapers, magazines, manuscripts, sports items etc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The organization and filtering system is pretty great too! You can filter by language, country of origin, materials, techniques (depending on theme of course) and many more. Also, you can even filter by usage rights
Tumblr media
Give it a go, have fun!
Edit with other interesting things I found under a read more because it's getting kinda long, but tl;dr browse by topics, read articles and download some free colouring books
Edit: On the collections tab you can find more topics by which you can browse and you can even make your own galleries, like your own private museum collection 💜
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They even have a section where you can download colouring books

A fanfic library (for my Astarion's obsession)
Okay, I feel like I'm ready to share this here.
Since I'm going completely mad about that vampire, I'm reading fanfics non-stop. And I needed a place to keep track of my reading, and list all the works I want to read.
So I made a little Notion : A fanfic library (by Elenyae)
What to expect ?
Astarion x Female Tav romance
One-shot, short and long fanfics
Shameless smut (don't judge)
Bad reviews 'cause I'm not much of a reader !
👉 Basically just a database with all the fanfics I'm reading, with tags and reviews for you to browse/choose.
Tumblr media
PLEASE, feel free to make fanfics recommendations in the comments !
Also, it's the very first Notion I made public. I'm open to suggestions on how to improve it. I'm already thinking about a better way of sorting the tags
Okay, nothing more to say 🫣 I hope you have a lovely holiday 🎄

Sooo there’s this awesome library app called Libby, and basically it gives you access to digital books for whatever library you have a card for.
Anyway, what I’m getting at is that you can share cards, so theoretically you can have access to any and all libraries, anyone wanna share cards to increase our access to books? I have two I can share right now, one is really good, the other has limited books.

broke: the internet archive library saying you can’t borrow a book because someone else has borrowed the same book is stupid. it’s digital, there’s no physical scarcity
woke: the internet archive library forbidding you to borrow a book if someone else has it is simulating a real life library experience that an increasing amount of us don’t experience or never have experienced. it is, in fact, teaching people to take turns, to share, and to be patient with each other, something that is increasingly forgotten in our digital age where nearly all content/ information is instantaneous and omnipresent
bespoke: it’s fucking hilarious that an online library is pretending it can’t lend you a ‘copy’ of a digital book

Witchy Book Reviews: A thread
Becoming Dangerous: Witchy Femmes, Queer Conjurers, and Magical Rebels
4/5 stars, would recommend and would probably read again.
It's a collection of essays from people of all sorts of walks of life. At the end of each essay, I wrote a 1-2 sentence summary of what I learned from it, and one of them had some really helpful information I jotted down too. This could be just because I like to hear about what other people learn through their crafts, but I think it was very neat to see so many different perspectives. Even if there were a number of essays I had to power through for apothisexual (sex repulsed) reasons

I recently read this article from Smithsonian Magazine where Christopher Parker discussed book bans. The Digital Public Library of America announced the launch of The Banned Book Club, which “makes e-book versions of banned books available to readers in locations across the United States where titles have been banned.” Users can download The Palace Project app and access over 15,000 titles. The Palace Project “supports the mission of public libraries by providing equitable access to digital knowledge,” and it appears that libraries across the country are willing to participate in this cause. I searched for libraries in Kentucky on the app, and I found three: William B. Harlan Memorial Library, Jessamine County Public Library, and Bell County Public Library. I chose to go through the William B. Harlan Memorial Library. I had to create a library card to borrow a book, however, but I could create one even though I am not a resident of that particular county. I selected The Last Cuentista by Donna Barba Higuera, and I could access it immediately as an eBook on my phone. I truly appreciate any initiative that supports access to all books, regardless of any challenges that these titles are up against. I hope to see more libraries in Kentucky on this app as it continues to grow.

To get from one side of the U.S. to the other is to criss-cross a veritable snakes and ladders of state and county-level legislation and policy. If you’re after a particular title by Toni Morrison or Margaret Atwood, you might find that it’s available in Georgia, and effectively banned next door in Florida. A new initiative from the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA), launched in concert with the Palace Project, hopes to toss a ladder to people living in places where access is restricted.
The Banned Book Club is a free e-reader app that uses GPS-enabled geotargeting to determine which books are not available in a given area, and upload them to a library. To transcend petty local politics, simply download The Palace app, then select “Banned Books Club” as your “local library.” You will then be able to access all the goodies that someone else has “challenged.”
Executive Director of the DPLA, John Bracken, said in a statement that “book bans are one of the greatest threats to our freedom.” Thus, your local library doing what it can to remedy your rights.
They can’t wrap every state in tin foil, can they!
The project was announced on July 20th, and is doing its work as I type.
