Q: Plz infodump everything

A: In addition to everything l've already answered: here are some ideas

1. Echo repeatedly bites Fives, though after the first time it's always meant to be friendly even though because Echo has really sharp teeth Fives ends up almost bleeding out on multiple occasions.

2. When Fives and Echo are learning to Live again on Kamino, Fives is able to let go of some of the dark side of the Force because he thinks going Light will help heal Echo. On multiple occasions he tries to purify the Kyber crystals in his lightsaber but just CAN'T, like no matter what he does they always stay red, and Fives is incapable of leaving the Dark because of all the things he was forced to do by Palpatine.

3. While still High On Instincts Echo (when not threatened) just acts like a Sea puppy and is cute.

4. Omega visited Echo in his tank once but was forbidden from coming back by Nala se.

5. While he was experimented on by Kaminoans, one of the main droids taking care of Echo during downtime was AZI. After the destruction of Kamino, Echo scavenges what was left of AZI and carries the droid around like a toy. Fives recognises AZI and they bond more trying to fix the droid.

6. Fives is constantly sad even though he tries not to be bc on a certain level he blames himself for not escaping Palpatine earlier and saving echo from the torture that made him lose his mind.

7. Echo Knows that Fives gets sad but doesn't know why because he's in fishbrain mode, so as comfort Echo kinda flops all over him and they sit together cuddling watching the sunset because I need comfort to go with hurt.

8. Rex blames himself for everything no matter what, he believes that he is cursed and is the reason all the people closest to him suffer so much.

9. When Rex shows up on kamino, they contact Ahsoka who is able to help them research some type of Sith ritual that would allow echo to morph his tail into legs, but the first time they try it it doesn't work be Echo is still fishbrain and doesn't know what's going on

Q: does echo get his legs/ sanity back?

A: Eventually yes because he needs legs if he ever wants to leave Kamino, and neither Rex nor Fives can house him AND a tank on their ships.

They find a Sith ritual or something that should help with his legs, but it doesn't work well until echo remembers enough to WANT his legs back, meaning his mind has to fully recover before his body can.

Q: Is echos tail permanent? Enhancable/interchangable? Does he get leggies?

A: Bro does indeed get leggies yes yes

Until they manage to complete their silly Sith ritual the tail would be permanent unless they find a Fancy Doctor with Fancy Equipment, in which case after surgical removal he won't be able to get the tail back.

Since they can't find a Fancy Doctor, Sith things it is, which | think would allow them to bring the tail back either by completing the same ritual in reverse, or for the ritual itself to be more of a "this will allow you to change between forms H20 style"

Q: How are Echo and Fives reunited??? they literally NEED each other

A: Ok so after order 66, we all know Kamino gets blown up. So basically as it's being bombed Echo escapes whatever tank he's in and runs into the bad batch who are also escaping.

When Omega's floating pod thing gets caught in debris and AZI can't save it, fishbrain!Echo recognises her as someone who was in the lab with him and saves her.

Fast forward Crosshair is waiting for imperial pickup on that one landing platform and realises that he recognises the scary fish man experiment as that one clone they saved a few months ago.

When he returns, he reports to Rampart or Tarkin or whoever that Clone Force 99 is confirmed dead, but expresses worry over the existence of "a monster made from the remains of CT-1904"

Fives overhears them, recognises the CT numbr and The Force partially snaps him out of Palpatine's mind control to steal a ship and fly off to kamino

Q: Any other major clone appearances? Where's Rex in this au?

A: After order 66 Rex is Not Vibing At All, he almost killed his little sister and watched his men suffer the chip's control unable to do anything to help them. But Rex is Rex and he needs something to fight for and gets invested in the rebellion, and just like canon he meets up with the bad batch again for occasional missions.

After the destruction of Kamino, Tech, who was in a pod with Omega when they tried to float to the surface, and who also recognised the weird sea monster hybrid as Echo is like "hey maybe I should tell the guy, who to my knowledge is the only living friend this poor fish guy has, that his younger sibling is in fact alive"

It takes a while for Rex to get the message, but by the time he has a ship flying into orbit and landing on that one platform next to what looks like an imperial fighter, Fives and Echo have had time to bond and Echo is semi-cognitive again

Cue sad tearful reunion

I like to think that after Echo can walk and think again they free more clones from the empire including Cody, and maybe along the way stumble on Kix on ice

Q: if Fives is immortal and force sensitive, is Echo immortal/force sensitive too?

A: Yes, Echo is immortal and force sensitive, which is how he must have survived the explosion at the Citadel, torture by the Techno Union and the torture by the Kaminoans. no normal person should be able to go through ALL of that.

BUT since technically he still has his inhibitor in, even though it doesn't work, he can't do any force things

Q: what's Echo's story in the au?

A: MMMMMMM now Echo's story stays the same as canon up until he is rescued from Skako Minor by the bad batch.

He is offered a place with them and they become tentative friends, but before he can officially join he is called back to Kamino for “assessment”

At this point in time Palpatine and select few Kaminoans know fives can't die, so the Kaminoans specifically are curious if this immortality type thing also applies to Echo, Fives’ closest batchmate.

On Kamino, he is tortured and experimented on, and they decide "hey what if we attached the tail of a local sea predator (specifically samples taken from a Saberjowl) to him for funsies"

The whole thing is too much for poor Echo especially right after his time with the Techno Union, so his mind just breaks and he ends up surviving only on instinct

After reuniting with Fives tho he slowly heals

Q: Can Echo breathe underwater or just hold his breath impressively long? leading on, would he die without access to water??

A: I like to think that when he was given a tail he was also given gills so he can breathe underwater, because at this point in the experiments the Kaminoans would have been keeping him in a tank

They're definitely smart enough to realise he needs gills if they want to make sure he doesn't keep dying in the tank (They don't know how permanent the immortality thing is or if it has a limit, so they're not risking him dying too early by drowning him)

Honestly he'd probably be better off without water, just unable to do anything but flop around. Since he started off human he doesn't NEED water to survive (except to drink)

In the first art I posted of siren! echo | wanted to make it look like his tail is rotting??? So like part of the tail is organic and clearly not compatible with the rest of him, and the only reason he can use it is be it's attached with intermediary cybernetic implants, but it's literally decomposing on him and staying in water probably makes it deteriorate faster

They could probably safely remove the tail with surgery but none of them have the knowledge or equipment for that, which is why they default to Sith magic as a means of removal

A: If it was they’d all be a lot happier lmao

Only Echo is mer/siren and it's a result of the Kaminoans experimenting on him after he was rescued by the bad batch :)

Boy went through so much trauma that as a fish guy he's not fully sentient and reacts mostly on instinct, but he is able to recognise some people from Before.

A: ooo now this is a good one i haven’t thought that far ahead

I think that if Fives and Echo are essentially immortal it makes sense for the rest of Domino squad to be as well, but at this point it's been so long anything could have happened to them

Since Droidbait got shot he could have absolutely bounced back, but since the base got blown up soon after, would he have survived that as well?

Same with Hevy, would he have survived the explosion? At what point does the immortality run out? Echo survived his own explosion long enough to get picked up by the Techno Union who then "healed" him, but would anyone have gone back for Hevy and Droidbait and helped THEM?

Cutup got chewed up by a giant eel, not sure how well immortality helps you bounce back from that one, considering it can't heal injuries or Echo would not be 70% metal. I do like the horrifying imagery of Cutup clawing his way out of the eel covered in acid burns, boba fett post-sarlacc style

If they do survive they're now space pirates because fuck the war amirite

Q: is Fives force sensitive or does he just have a lightsaber?

A: The idea is that Fives is force sensitive but it just never showed until he got his chip removed, which is why when he got shot he died then came back to life in the middle of his own autopsy.

Palpatine was like "damn a force sensitive super soldier incapable of death? I'd brainwash that into doing my bidding 👀”

Q: How did Echo and Fives find each other again?

A: When Fives gets to Kamino, he finds the landing platform where Crosshair was picked up. He still doesnt know what he's looking for, but knows it's a way to escape the Empire and has something to do with his twin. He spends days diving around the ruins of Kamino searching for anything before he stumbles upon Echo.

Since Echo is Fish and has No Thoughts, they end up fighting and Echo almost bites Fives' arm off before Fives takes off his helmet to show Echo his tattoo, at which point it seems like Echo recognises him and swims him to the surface.

Then they both just kind of live on the landing platform until Echo starts Thinking again and remembers his life, and also until Rex shows up.

they mostly vibe in sadness

I feel like the True Wholesome Reunion can only happen when Echo heals and is himself again, when he is able to fully comprehend "goddamn I am alive I can turn into fish but also Fives is here and OMG FIVES IS HERE fuck everything else I am here Vibing with the person closest to me ever and my older brother figure what more can I want"

there isnt really a full written version of it anywhere yet sorry, tho i did just post some unedited writing about Fives in the AU on my account.

If you want to know about the lore of the AU it's all mostly in the dmw(s) qna tag bc i didn't want to oversaturate the dmw(s) tag with all that text since its where i usually put the art for it.

So a bit ago I did a QNA over on my Instagram, answering questions about my AU dmw(s), thought I’d transcribe them onto here bc until I make more art or actually write stuff, otherwise there isn’t much context as to what happens in it :)

Q: what inspired it?

A: One time I was walking to class and listening to music when Sirencore bv Banshee came on and was like in I Simply MUsT Apply This To My Favourite Characters.

For whatever reason it gave me demonic ritual vibes, were the idea for inquisitor!fives came from. And since in canon echo loses most of his body I was like Hm What If Instead Of Metal Legs he Gets Fish.

And then I made it sad
