HEATHER CLARKE, 17, HOMECOMING QUEEN, HAS BEEN FOUND DEAD.

Mondays are an enemy among all but a Monday morning where a classmate has been found dead only worsens the aftertaste of a weekend gone by. 

On August 28th, The Clarke family was horrified to find their oldest child lifeless on her plush rose-colored carpet. Her fingertips clutched a single white mug, empty of any contents except for a blue residue staining the inside. Beside her,  a farewell note. Urging the family to donate her expensive possessions to charity and the less fortunate. The police have ruled it out as a suicide but Detective Rodriguez isn’t so sure. 

As the school year begins, the student body has shown a mix of gut-wrenching sorrow and bitter indifference. No one is sure how to feel regarding Heather Clarke. 

Inside the walls of Westerburg High School, the spirit of Heather floats through the halls; and inside the locker of the new queen bee is a shiny new gift. They aren’t sure how it got there but it’s staring back at them, expectantly. 

There it was. A symbol of power. A symbol of status. The last tangible piece of Heather Clarke: her red scrunchie.

Most assume it’s a gift. Something to give comfort to Heather’s friend but the rest, including the new queen bee, can’t help but wonder how exactly it got in her locker.
