we need a being human style stranger gays au where robin (a neurotic werewolf) and steve (a vampire who BARELY has control of his bloodlust) move in together only to find they have a secret roomie in the form of ghost!billy who hasn't been seen for ages and whose murder (at neils hands) has gone unpunished so that becomes a whole thing

and at first billy is NOT vibing with steve living in his old bedroom, has many complaints about his decoration skills (or lack thereof). they butt heads a lot until it becomes a whole will they/wont they thing except billys a ghost so theres not a whole lot they can do anyway which just makes the yearning so much worse as you can imagine but through a serious of supernatural events they will one day be able to physically touch each other and then die together for real and go to the great beyond holding hands but that happens later ANYWAY

while all thats going on robin starts dating heather but one full moon things go awry and robin, in wolf form, ends up biting her and now robins gotta explain that shes a werewolf and now heather is too because whoopsie robin passed the curse on and that becomes a whole thing and robins gotta help heather through her first transformation and the relationship gets a little rocky but eventually they work through it and heather ends up moving in and the four of them become a little fucked up supernatural brady bunch who would all kill and die for each other amen

apparently atlus is remaking p4 and like. the only reasons i could see for doing that is 1. overhauling the story (p3re made very few changes, mixed on whether they were good or bad, i.e. getting rid of the transphobic joke is good, but making mitsuru an orphan therefore retconing the drama cds is bad imo) and 2. overhauling the graphics/atmosphere (p3re honestly did pretty bad there with the very. Default Unreal Project vibe the game has, mostly due to a lot of areas just being flatly lit from the top without light sources in the environment. thats why the inside of the dorm looks so strange)

if its just going to be p4 but with "better" graphics, some QoL features, and keeping in most of the weird homophobia and not changing kanji and naoto's dungeons to be something other than stereotyping gay men/detransition rhetoric (im not saying that as a snipe at naoto as a character or his fans, but at the end of the day that's the message naoto's story as written is sending) then i just dont see the point in remaking it. just play golden and do whatever you want with the ideas of the characters at that point

good news: got most of my vintage story mods updated

bad? news: updating my save file did SOMETHING to the map and now two teleporter points are way closer to each other than they were before, and that made a river from one smash into a cliff from the other

weird news: for some reason the moss from the rivers mod isn't loading in properly despite the rest of it working fine. i THINK it might be an item ID issue but like hell do i know how to fix it

EDIT: the issue is the dev removed it (and the river clay deposit blocks) from the game lol. i just pop into creative and replace them now when i find them. the save is a legacy save from 1.19 so it only affects chunks that loaded in on that patch

thinking about cricket sherwood AGAIN and how his view of iterative personhood shapes everything he does!! because it doesn't matter until it DOES — before cicada, he's happy to lie about the fact he knows he isn't the "real" cricket, that that version of themself is probably long-dead and he doesn't care in the slightest — and after, it matters in a way he doesn't even know how to explain out loud.

they iterate a version of themself with an accent reminiscent of the red dirt in their youth, give back a name he buried a long time ago, and send them back to the valley to move on from cicada (even though they both know it's impossible) and it's at that moment i think they finally acknowledge the space between themselves now and a dozen years ago and who-knows-how-long into the future are less than they pretend to be, that every version past and present still wears a threadbare friendship bracelet and ignore the weight that carries. etc etc.
