I missed all of you!!

You decided today was a good day to get some ice cream, so you went to your favorite ice cream shop that sold the really big cookie ice cream sandwiches. It's one of those shops that makes the cookies fresh if they have the product to make them.

You strolled in, greeting the woman at the counter. She smiled at you and you told her what you wanted, her smile faltered, and he shoulders slumped.

"I'm sorry, I just sold the last one to that man over there." You followed her eyeline to the man to your right

He stood there, smiling widely in his own world. You turned your attention back to the woman, then looked up at the menu

"Okay, I'll do a chocolate sundae with brownie bites, rainbow sprinkles, and hot fudge, please." She smiled and nodded

You moved down to pay for your sundae, but the man who bought the last ice cream sandwich had already paid for your ice cream. You looked around for him, but he was nowhere to be found. You took your ice cream, thanked them and walked outside

You sat down at the table outside and began eating, although you didn't get the ice cream sandwich, their sundaes are good as well. You were pulled from your thoughts when someone sat down in front of you. You looked up, and it was the man from before.

"Uh, hi." You smiled awkwardly, he smiled back

"Hi, I'm Joaquin. I heard I took the last ice cream sandwich, and I apologize for that." You giggled and shook your head

"It's all good, thank you for paying for my ice cream, though."

"It's the least I could do, you're very welcome." He smiled and rubbed the back of his neck. "I can make you some ice cream sandwiches."

You looked at him and raised an eyebrow. "I don't know you."

He tilted his head, agreeing with you. "True, true. I promise I will not hurt you."

"That's something someone who would hurt me would say." You narrowed your eyes at him, eating your last spoonful of ice cream.

He chuckled and then flashed a big smile at you. "You're cautious, I respect it. How about this? Do you trust Captain America?"

You raised an eyebrow, but nodded

"If I get Captain America to vouch for me, will you come with me so I can make it up to you?"

You looked at him weirdly and nodded again. You watched as he pulled his phone out to video chat with someone. He smiled at the phone leaning on the table

"Hey Sam, I'm with this girl and I bought the last ice cream sandwich and I wanna make it up to her, but she doesn't exactly trust me, can you please vouch for me and tell her I'm not a serial killer." He turned the phone towards you and there he was Captain America

You gladly took the phone, looking down at it

"Well, she's smart not to trust you." You both laughed, "I'm kidding, he's a good dude, take it from me."

You looked up at Joaquin then back at Sam. "Fine, but these ice cream sandwiches better be good." You handed Joaquin his phone back and stood up.

A short drive later, you found yourself pulling up to Joaquin's apartment, at first you were hesitant to go inside, but honestly you could take him if need be. You got out of your car and met Joaquin at his front door.

"Mi casa es tu casa" Joaquin smiled wide and opened the door, stepping aside to let you in.

You walked in, taking in his apartment. It was neat, smelled nice, and homey. He shut the door behind himself and walked over to the kitchen. You watched as he pulled out cookie dough from the fridge, you smiled and joined him.

Yeah, you still didn't really know him, but if Captain America vouches for him, how bad could he be? Right? That's when it hit you, he's the falcon. You mentally slapped yourself.

"So, you know how to make cookies, right?" He pulled you from your thoughts

You nodded and stood beside him, rolling the dough into balls and placing them on the cookie sheet. He turned on some music and started swaying his hips as he rolled the dough. You giggled and swayed your hips along with him, he bumped his hip against yours.

Once all the cookies were placed on the sheet, he placed them in the oven and turned to look at you, you raised an eyebrow as he crossed his arms, staring at you.

"Yes?" You mocked his actions, looking back at him.

"Tell me about yourself, favorite color, food, hobbies, you know, normal stuff." He leaned against the counter, crossing one leg over the other.

You started to tell him all your favorite things, and you basically told him your whole life story. Once you started talking, you couldn't stop. There was something about him that made you feel comfortable.

When the oven dinged, Joaquin flinched slightly, you chuckled and watched him take the cookies out of the oven. He clapped his hands together and opened the freezer

"Alright, I got mint chocolate chip, chocolate, cookies and cream, and vanilla." He looked over his shoulder at you

"How about all? Little bit of a variety." You flashed him a smile, and you could literally see him melt.

He picked up all the ice cream and carried it over to the counter. He handed you the ice cream scooper, and the two of you took turns making the ice cream sandwiches.

"Beautiful." He let out a breath and mumbled. "Just like you." You heard him, he can't whisper to save his life.

"Thank you" You smiled and looked over at him.

"You heard that?" He looked at you from the corner of his eye

You nodded and took a small bite of an ice cream sandwich. You moaned slightly at the warmth of the cookie, mixing with the cold ice cream. It was so much better than the ice cream shop's ice cream sandwiches. After eating about half of it, you finally looked up to see Joaquin staring at you.

"What?" He smiled and shook his head

"You just got- here, let me." He took his thumb and softly rubbed it over your bottom lip, wiping away the ice cream.

His hand lingered on your jaw, his eyes on your lips, and without thinking, he pulled you close to him, pressing his lips to yours. You dropped the ice cream and wrapped your arms around his neck. He gently pinned you against the counter, deepening the kiss, he slowly pulled back, staring deep into your eyes.

"I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me." His hand left your cheek, you almost whimpered from the loss of contact.

You stood there, stunned. You just met this man a couple of hours ago, and you're already kissing him. You couldn't figure out what was going on, all you knew was that kiss was intoxicating, and you wanted more, you wanted so much more of it.

Of him.

"It's okay, I liked it. Thank you for the ice cream sandwiches, the kiss, everything. I never thought that today would go like this, but I'm happy it did."

"I hope to do this again with you sometime." Joaquin smiled and held your hand in his, rubbing his thumb over your knuckles.

"Why don't we do this every weekend?" You smiled and kissed his hand

"It's a date."

I like that we see Morgase's accepted ring like, first thing. Also those maid headdresses that look like approximately one-fourth of a swan has been applied directly to the entire head? They're very good. Very intimidating. Very high fashion.

So. I was not a huge fan of the Lannister lean-in thing they did with Morgause on first watch. But I've seen some commentary that has reconciled me a bit more to it- one is that people were going to make the comparison between Andor's whole vibe and Game of Thrones anyway, so they called it to mind deliberately but contrasted it with Morgase's slightly more strategic/principled(?) motivation. This is the kind of thing that RJ did with the first 200 pages of EotW and The Fellowship of the Ring- deliberately echoing the more familiar property before going in a different direction with it- so it's not like that's a new-to-WoT tactic. The other bit of commentary that has influenced me is the argument that it sets up some really juicy stuff for Elayne to work with later in her succession plot.

The implication of 'honorary great serpent ring' is that Morgase didn't have to go through the Arch(es) but honestly since they don't require channeling and are a character/commitment test similar to [SPOILERS FOR LATER IN THE SEASON] I've always headcanoned that Daughter-Heirs of Andor who went to the Tower actually took the test. But maybe it's seen as too risky for them to actually take it? I'd certainly buy that in this universe.

aaaaaand oof that's not so easy to break down, at the end of the day it's been around 20 to 25 years of drawing over here... stuff just adds up after so many years. my first approach back then was "how to draw manga" lol but really it was a start.

if you really want to learn how to apply different poses to bodies and faces you need to learn how they are structured and how that structure works. there are tons of good youtube tutorials on how to construct a face and work with that. same applies for the body. don't watch videos in which dudebros tell you "in only 5 minutes you are a pro artist!" tho. that's not how it works.

learning to draw is like learning a language. it needs practice, it needs endurance and a tolerance for failure. and in the beginning you'll not be happy with what you draw (hell, i'm not happy still!) but there comes a time when everything gets a little easier and you kinda speak that language almost fluently... and then there is still more to learn.

i know these kind of answers are not very satisfying, but this topic is huge. one could talk days, weeks, months about it and never be done. if there is anything specific that you'd like to see i could do a little tutorial. or if you want my general approach i could do that too i guess.

They're in the middle of their fourth sleepover in a row when his screen suddenly goes black and he passes out because he didn't charge himself. It would be cute after the initial terror <3.

[OJPad] This could again in theory apply to anyone, but OJ is one of the very few contestants that would probably use an alarm to wake up, since not many of them would really need to be up at a certain time. So, Mepad being a mepad could just set an alarm for them on himself. This is efficient and functional! Unfortunately, it also often results in OJ slapping him in the face multiple times when he's blindly reaching to turn off the alarm. They end up switching to an analog clock.

[Tacopad] So, I've been very clear on my enjoyment for my headcanon of Mepad liking it when Taco is rough with him. He finds it very attractive. Contrary to this, though, Mepad does not like it when Taco is a bit rough with other objects, non-living ones that is. She'll tend to scratch things or grip them too hard when she gets frustrated, and he always reminds her to be gentle with them. It's one thing for her to be rougher with him, since he happily consents, but he feels bad for whatever object she's breaking/crinkling, etc.

[Toipad] Fuck it, very much not able to happen in canon, but it would be cute if Toilet and Mepad did little secret video calls after he gets fired. Toilet talks so loud that Mepad has to turn his volume almost all the way down so he doesn't get caught. Toilet tells Mepad what's going on in his life and Mepad tells him that Cobs is trying to trick him. Toilet cartoon silliness-es his way into killing Steve Cobs. He did it. He saved Inanimate Insanity.

A Rant about My Metis

A song that i relate a lot to Metis es "Waiting on a Miracle" from Encanto, both on a character and meta level.

Firstly, as a character, my Metis is quite special. She's supposed to be the daughter of two Oceanic titans, she should be living in the Ocean inside a pretty castle under the sea! What the hell is she doing living in Crete?

Well, my Metis doesn't knows who are her actual folks! She was found by the forest nymphs of Crete island and raised by them as a baby. But she being an Oceanic nymph (plus the straight up daughter of not one but two Titans) and the rest of her family being Forest nymphs, she quickly noticed all the differences.

I draw her big and muscular for a reason (Because muscular women are beautiful sksksks) but is also because she doesn't fit in that "pretty, delicate, femenine and elegant" view of most nymphs.

And she shouldn't! Again, she's daughter of two titans, of course she's a big girl! (And all Oceanids are similar in that they are a bigger kind of nymph in my story, not just Metis) But she doesn't know that!

And my Metis surely has done a LOT of batshit crazy things for the one boy that treats her as she was the most beautiful nymph that has ever touched the earth.

Crazy batshit stuff like, making fricking Cronus vomit, helping Zeus with a whole ass war, helping all of the other Big 6 in said war, and in general she loves to help Zeus' with all of his shenanigans.

She is head-over heels for that man. In her eyes, Zeus is that "Miracle". Her best friend, companion, and husband.

Now, on the more "Meta" level...

Metis is quite the character in mitology. Most people that do re-tellings don't bother to include her in any way.

Or if they do, they do so as like a quick mention of "Oh, this was Zeus' first wife i guess" and then don't mention more about it. As if being "Zeus #1 wife that he ate" was her whole personality

I understand, tho. Metis is a very obscure character. And has a very quick role in mithology.

Yet, that role is also, like. THE MUST FRIGGING IMPORTANT ROLE.

Like, dude, Zeus wouldn't had been able to start the whole ass war if Metis hadn't helped him free his siblings! Nothing would had happened!

And she's not even canonically dead, she literally lives inside Zeus' brain. She's literally the voice of reason inside his head telling him what to do, helping him decide what would be the best course of action in a situation.

Zeus is wise, because Metis lives rent-free in his head lol

A misconception is that Zeus ate Metis the same way Cronus did the Big 5, but he didn't. He rather "absorbed her". Where Cronus tried to destroy his sons, Zeus wanted to keep a piece of wife always within him. (It doesn't make it any-better, but the fact that he could just eat Metis and call it a day but he choose to specifically not do that and instead did something slightly more merciful talks a lot of how much he loved her, me thinks).

The man was worried about the prophecy, for sure! But you cannot tell me he didn't care!

Yet, Metis is always forgotten in must stories. Again, i get why

I just wish it wasn't like that lol. She is goddess of wisdom, the OG goddess of wisdom. She has potential for a character if we let her have one!

Haruka: Clumsy and emotional drunk. It's like his normal personality, but emphasized by a hundred times. You have to pay extra attention to your words because when he's drunk, he can take any sentence you say and twist it so badly he'll convince himself that you think he's the scum of the earth. He's also quite clumsy, slurring his words, mixing up which hand is which, accidentally smacking your face when trying to hug you. Be patient with him, would you? He's trying his best.

Yuno: Bitter or happy drunk. It depends on her mood honestly. If she's drinking around fun and lively people, she'll be a happy drunk. The life of a party, teasing and flirting around, doing drunk karaoke, basically having an all around good time. If she's not in a good mood though… she'll become a bitter drunk. She'll let her usual sweet and cheerful facade slip and become her natural pessimistic self, muttering about her regrets and whatnot.

Fuuta: Sleepy drunk. He's literally the type to start off strong and rowdy then nod off in the middle of the conversation. His energy would slowly start to ebb during the early night, and he'll be completely knocked out by the time it's 11pm.

Muu: Emotional and sleepy drunk. She'll be crying left right and center about the unfairness of the world, trying to rationalize and convince everyone that she's the victim, all while slurring her words and eventually nodding off.

Shidou: Wistful drunk. He will reminiscence about his family 90% of the time, which would then lead him to tear up slightly. If you manage to get him in the other 10%, he'll talk about the "good ol days" with you, laughing about past experiences and maybe even complain about the new generation together, who apparently think it's acceptable to stay up writing headcanons about characters that don't exist at 3:55am.

Mahiru: Happy and affectionate drunk!! I think that's pretty obvious. She'll be giggling at everything and nothing, all while slinging herself over your body and trying to physically mush you together because she's just so full of love for you!!

Kazui: Impulsive and nostalgic drunk. We know that Kazui has lots of things he wants to act on. Alcohol is a very good way of making him forget about his worries and simply doing what he wants. When he gets tipsy he already would be spilling his life stories out. Good luck trying to get him drunk though, he has a highhhh tolerance.

Mikoto: Another friendly and affectionate drunk. Very warm and approachable, would definitely drag you to a couch just to cuddle. He'll want to talk about his lost passions and interests that he could never pursue because of his workload, telling you his plans for projects he would never pursue.

Kotoko: Talkative drunk. It's just her true personality without all the layers of wariness. She'll discuss with you about the ethics of her "job", the flaws of the legal system, the fucked up way that victims are treated in this society. Very passionate and doesn't have as much self-control as she does when she's sober, so be careful not to piss her off too much lmao

Es: Emotional and affectionate drunk. They WILL cling to you to make up for the amount of affection they have not received during their time as a warden. Please comfort them and tell them they're okay. Please. On an unrelated note, they can also get really passionate just like Kotoko. Just more open to discussion I suppose. Might let a few details about the prisoner's MV slip to you, but they'll never try to purposefully tell their story without consent :D

Did you know in the T1 script book John Doe 009 VD, when 09 introduces himself, "Mikoto Kayano" personally introduces himself with the kanji spelling of his name but its alternative reading (furigana) is in katakana, not hiragana. He is the only prisoner that introduces himself in full with an alt spelling in katakana rather than Es imparting or calling a prisoner with their katakana code name in the beginning.

The speech style he has here also matches the speech style in Neoplasm where Boku was using gobi due to the usage of the particle 「さ」。(I've written a speech style analysis of 09 before but I'll have to find the notes again. I'll likely send a follow-up ask or something ^^')

This has me thinking about one of your previous posts which brought up the possibility that Mikoto "boku" Kayano, or, how others say, 🔵 and 🟢koto, don't realize that they're separate identities.

「ボクが僕を救ってあげましょう」 <- these bokus

There's also the possibility that when people have been referring to 🔵koto, they've actually been meaning 🟢koto this entire time. So are color code[name]s appropriate for 09 anymore? (/rhetorical)

Hello! Thanks so much for the ask! I did not know that; super interesting that it's unique from the other introductions. What you pointed out here is actually so intriguing, thank you for sharing your knowledge!

I have been wrestling with this for some time now because it's truly a case of "Schrodinger's Alter"; we have several instances that seem to indicate 2 "boku"s, but when they're speaking without the pronoun visually accompanying it, there's no gurantee of which one is fronting in any given interaction (let alone if a completely seperate alter is masking as "Mikoto," which is unlikely because writing that would get complicated, but not impossible).

Telling them apart is likely as difficult for them as it is for us given the amnesia; however, we don’t get insight into these things without the narrative explicitly stating such. This is interesting to me because this uncomfortable ambiguity is how systems operate in daily life, sometimes even amongst ourselves.

While color codenames have lost their usefulness to me personally, colloquially I find it helpful in discussing basic theories (and even tho it's gimmicky I've just personally liked the concept); that said, for all we the audience know, ボク ("Mido") and 僕 ("Miko") could be interchangable alters in the narrative; people may very well be referring to ボク as 僕 or vice-versa in any given interaction that John isn't around.

As far as changes in perception, it's dawning on me more and more how little we know about "Mikoto" (僕 or otherwise) as an individual in his system. He's high-masking as it is, but on top of that, we have no real way of guessing which alter "he" is at any given time unless they give an indicator. It's just simplest to assume 僕 in most cases. In the case of 俺, he's an easy guess only because he is made outwardly distinct by the narrative in both speech pattern and attitude. If there is a third, we may see glimpses of them in hindsight, but either way "Mikoto" (僕) as an individual alter is yet to be known as his own person beyond his passive, "professional" demeanor.

Tbh it's giving me insight into why a system host may be widely "liked" while remaining relatively or even completely unknown as an individual person. The demeanor shown by 僕 and his desire to be popular further shows that his sense of self is purely dependent on others' perceptions of him, which is as expected as it is tragic. I think if there is a third, we're gonna see a resigned, perhaps even apathetic tone from them; the system all tried so hard for seemingly nothing. I think the more 僕 tries to disappear, the more the other could realize their place alongside John in the system, if we explicitly see ボク at all.

It's all very ambiguous so I don't get really care how others label them, but I'm near certain that "僕" is not always who we think he is. (In John's case, I typically use his name rather than his pronoun bc even if he picks a more suitable name for himself later on, I feel strange using a first-person pronoun in place of a name when he has one; in the case of "僕" Mikoto, I do find it a necessary distinction from "ボク" given the ambiguity of it all, and it's more solid than color theory imo.)

This is all just my personal conjecture on how they are writing the system. It's definitely a kind of narrative I never thought I'd get to analyze, so I'm so happy to have others to discuss with! I got carried away with excitement as I was telling a story I considered funny to Jake. I liked the idea that because he spoke Spanish I could just let myself lose in my own native language.

That cut me off and I turned to look at the same face, but different person now. Did Steven really planned to come out right now in the middle of my conversation with Jake? Was Jake bored and just decided to switch and let my rambling for another alter. Of course that alter was going to be Steven.

- "hi, love, I'm sorry for the confusion, I was just gossiping with Jake", I kissed him sweetly and lay down with him before falling asleep. I still had a lot of doubts in my mind that I was sure I had to attend later.

I broke, smashed and exploded the whole building down, kneeling in front of it when it was almost just ashes. But the last line still ringed through my mind.

I felt when y/n left the bed, I thought she was just going to the bathroom, but a fair amount of time passed and she didn't come back. Lazily I got out of bed and walked towards the bathroom, my eyes not fully open and my steps clumsy.
